Worship in Revival
Sunday Morning Worship - "Worship in Revival"
Today will be a special day at Crossgates focused on responding to what God is doing in the life of our church and in each of us individually. Through extended worship, Scripture, prayer, and opportunities to respond, we will intentionally create space to seek God and allow Him to move in our hearts.
The theme of the day comes from Psalm 18:19: “He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.” We believe God is inviting us into a “broad place”—a place of freedom, breakthrough, purpose, and deeper relationship with Him. For some, that may mean being rescued from spiritual bondage, hurt, sin, or simply moving from knowing about God to truly knowing Him.
Our response is simple: lean in and worship. Whether that means lifting our hands, getting on our knees, surrendering something to God, seeking prayer, confessing what we have been carrying, or believing God for a breakthrough, each person will have an opportunity to respond to Him in their own way. We believe that as we step toward Him, He brings us into the freedom and newness He has prepared for us.
Revival is more than a single emotional moment—it is God doing something new and establishing a new normal. Isaiah 42 reminds us that God declares new things and calls His people to “sing to the Lord a new song.” We believe revival creates a broad place of expectancy where we believe Jesus can save, heal, restore, and set people free. Worship in that place becomes authentic praise flowing from hearts that have encountered God.
Worship in Revival is an invitation for our entire CG family to lean in, surrender, and make room for God to do something new among us.

Come on, let's lift him up. Hallelujah, man, we are so excited that you are here today. Most importantly, I'm going to let you in on something. The Lord is with us today in this place in a profound way. If you're a little excited about it, you will be more excited about that in the next few moments. If you'll do me a favor, why don't you take a seat for a second. We're going to do something a little different in these next moments. If you're a visitor here today, we want to make sure we have a moment to say to you, we're so honored to have a moment in the presence of Jesus Christ with you today. The only thing we ever ask of our guests is if you'll fill out a connect card and a seat back in front of you at some point, we just want to get to know you a little bit better. Be a part of your spiritual journey, honored, honored, honored to walk with you. Now today, I want to let you in on, we're going to have a little bit different Sunday. We'll be right back next week in Nehemiah chapter 2 and we'll get Nehemiah 2 back. I decided instead of having to skip it in the 10-30 last week because by the way, after Wednesday night, that we saw 40 people baptized last week, right?
Come on. Hallelujah. Man, come on. I think we can do better than that. Let's give Lord praise for that. That's awesome. But today's the day that we've been planning and praying toward and Jonathan and the team has worked so hard. It's a little worship plus, meaning that there's just a little more worship going to linger in the presence of God a little bit longer. There's going to be moments where scripture is going to be read over you and I want to encourage you when the Word of God is being read aloud, don't merely just hear it with your mind, like receive that truth in your heart. Let God's Word speak to you, let it remind you of things that's true in the gospel. But then also there's going to be time for ministry. And I want to say this to you this morning. The Lord's been setting people free all morning long, all morning long. People without a gospel invitation, people coming and being born again saved this morning. Life's been changed, so yeah. That's pretty good. I feel good about it. I feel great about it. Let me tell you why though, because the Lord is fulfilling His Word. I'm going to preach real quick. Can I do that? You're like, how we did one song? You're preaching already. It's because I'm not going to get it in a minute. And I think God has given me a promise for us as a people. I think we're coming into a new place as a church.
And it comes from Psalm 18 verse 19 and it says, "He, speaking of God, He brought me out into a broad place." You can tell what the Lord knows about humanity, knows about you, knows about me, knows about us as a people, that oftentimes we find ourselves in a cave. You ever been in a cave? Maybe it's a cave of despair. Maybe you're distraught. Maybe you're hiding because you're ashamed. Maybe you're hiding because you're afraid. Maybe it's not a cave. Maybe it's a wilderness. You've been wandering a long time. That you know there's something out there. You know there's a broad place in life and the picture is, man, there's a place of freedom. That there's a place of fullness, there's a place of abundance, man, there's a place of life, there's a place of joy. King David in writing the Psalms, he remembers what it's like to be hidden in a cave where he's confused, he's distraught, he's being sought out by the enemy. King David knew in other places the story of our faith. There's have been other places where Anybody ever been there before or you're discouraged is all get out maybe or maybe you're stuck in some kind of bondage to sin. Maybe your bad decisions just keeps you on the edge of the activity of God and you just can't quite seem to find that freedom that you see others experiencing but you've made a decision. Maybe that's for others and it's not for me. (gentle music) And what the enemy wants us to do is to circle
the promised land, all of our life here on planet Earth. And when God is saying, no, why don't you let me bring you out? Let me bring you out into a broad place. I think that's personal. I can't tell you how many of those moments I've had as a follower of Jesus Christ. I got more of them to come. I also believe there's moments where God brings the whole people out. That's what I think God's doing in our church right now. I think he's bringing us into a broad place of ministry where he's gonna allow us to be a part of his work and activity in the lives of so many people 'cause Jesus loves people. So he says right there in Psalm 18, I think he brought me out into a broad place. He rescued us. Let me tell you what I think this morning and I'm gonna ask you to dare to believe God's word. I think that Jesus wants to rescue some people this morning. Maybe rescue you from religion. 'Cause guys, listen, Jesus died for a whole lot more than religion. Maybe rescue you from a lesser life. Maybe rescue you from just making a bunch of money and living until you finally die. Maybe he wants to rescue you to purpose finally. Maybe he wants to rescue you and I say this again from some habitual sin in your life that you just sort of made up,
that you'll never find freedom from that. Maybe he wants to rescue you this morning from that trauma that you've experienced and you just feel stuck. That you don't know, listen, you can't imagine having healing in your heart. I just want you to know he can heal you. Says he rescues us. Do you know why our God does these things? Here it is. Not out of obligation, not out of have to, not because he is ordered to, it says in his word, because he delighted in me. So let me tell you why God is here this morning, because he is absolutely madly in love with us, in love with you, madly in love with you, like rendered the heavens that came down so that he might express his love toward you and rescue you, bringing you out of the cave, out of the wilderness, out of the wandering. There's moments where God delivers and then on the other side of it, there sure are next steps, there's discipleship, there's help, there might be counseling, there might all be all kinds of things that you might need, but all of us need those moments where God brings us out. Now let me tell you what I love about the Lord, and I love this about him. He does not force himself upon us.
That he stands at the cave and he says, "Come out." That he stands out in the broad place. He says, "I'm right here, come here, come this way, "come this way." So let me tell you a few ways that you might respond this morning. One, as we enter and worship and listen to me, we're not putting on shows this morning, we're singing to somebody. For some, and I'm telling you, I, you can do with this, what you want. I've had a picture in my spirit all week of a man worshiping Jesus for the first time in his life. Let me tell you what that is. That's a broad place. For a dude to go from here to here. What that will do, it will move him and his whole family. Into a broad place with God. But you gotta go there. For some, might be we're gonna have prayer leaders down here, the whole service. We're gonna have prayer leaders in the balcony areas as well. For you to come to somebody and say, "Hey, can you help me get this to him?" Hey, even listen to me from Wednesday night to when we prayed over some people till Sunday morning brother David and I just sat with a family and rejoiced that God had already done a miracle. (audience applauds) He actually did it Thursday morning.
[Sigh] So here's what I want to ask you. Maybe you're hearing you got some serious hurt and you just need somebody to help you get it to Lord. We're not going to try to fix it down here. We're going to get it to God. Maybe you need to come this morning and say I'm finally going to name the sin that I can't seem to defeat on my own. I'm going to confess it to you. And then we're going to invite God into the equation. Freedom moments are about to happen. 'Cause Jesus wants to rescue us. Maybe you want to bring your whole family before the Lord, the altars open. Came up here last night. Got right here on my face before him. And thanked him for what he's about to do right now. (gentle music) He is here. Would you come meet with him in whatever way you need? See what's the meet with you, a stand to go. Our prayer leaders are going to be down here. They're coming right now. We're going to worship. There'll be moments where you'll be seated again. Scripts will be read, all those things. What's God want to do in your life? As those are trying to find seats, you can help them find one that would be helpful.
Lord, we're here for you. And we mean that. I pray for every person in this room, turn our faces toward you. Awaken our ears to hear from you. Fulfill your word to us. We worship you. We worship you. We worship you. Pray these things in Jesus' matchless name. Amen. As we worship him, if you need to be prayed for, come to the altar. Just respond. Church family, let's lift this song. We're going to read a passage of Scripture right out of Isaiah 52 and 53
that portrays, through the Word of God, the extent that Jesus went through, all the things that Jesus went through for us, the extent of His pain, the stripes, the misery that He endured for each one of us so that we could be set free. So like Pastor Kyle said earlier, allow the Word of God to speak to you. Allow yourself to be read by it this morning, and then we're going to respond as we sing this next song. So see my servant will prosper, he will be highly exalted, but many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured, he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man, and he will start all many nations. Kings will stand speechless in his presence, for they will see what they had not been told. They will understand what they had not heard about. Who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed His powerful arm? My servant grew up in the Lord's presence, like a tender green chute, and like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about His appearance, nothing to attract us to Him. [Music] He was despised and rejected. A man of sorrows acquainted with deepest grief, we turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried,
it was our sorrows that weighed him down, and we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins. But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was swept so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's past to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly. Yet he never said a word. He was led like a land to the slaughter, and as a sheep is silent before the shears, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong, and he had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal. He was put in a rich man's grave. But it was the Lord's good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his wife, He will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life and the Lord's good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servants will make it possible
for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. - And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven most holy place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened new and life given way through the curtain into the most holy place. Just hang with me for a second, okay? We're almost done, but the Lord's not, okay? I'm gonna give you a passage of Scripture Psalm 42 verses nine and 10 and when revival comes and everybody's got a different definition of that. Can I tell you what revival is? Simply put, it's a real move of God. It's God's activity in a person among the people
in such a way that nobody else gets glory, nobody else gets attention, but Jesus. And that he is so ruling and reigning in a moment that he's transforming minds, he's transforming hearts, he's healing people from the inside out, that he's restoring things that have long been broken, that have long seemed to lose their purpose. And you see it in Isaiah 42 verses nine and 10 says, "Behold the former things have come to pass." I love that, we're closing the chapter. "Behold the former things have come to pass "and the new things I now declare "before they spring up, I tell you of them." He says, "Something's stopping, something's starting." And then he says in verse nine, verse 10, "Sing to the Lord a new song. "His praise from the end of the earth, "you who go down to the sea and all that fills it, "the coastlands and their inhabitants." When revival comes, what awakens in a person among the people is a true song. Let me tell you what it's not, it's not fanaticism, it's not emotionalism, it's authenticity. It's for the first time you unleash your song, that you come to the place of revelation and a lot of who Jesus is, that you might rightly glorify Him, that you lose your hands, that you respond to Him. So here's what I know in the room right now. to the Lord and their hearts, many have come to be prayed for. And it's not about coming to be prayed for. That's not necessarily the break free. But there's a war for you. Are you going to be
willing to walk into promised places? Are you going to be finally free? Hear me now. Are you going to be rescued today? Rescued by him and it's going to call for some courage. In this moment, maybe to worship him authentically, maybe to come be prayed for, maybe to come confess. Some, let me tell you what happens many times, those of us that have learned what that's like, we respond first. But then there's the war for some going like, man, I just not for me, not today. Some of you are hearing you need Jesus to finally be your king to save you. He wants to. Would you maybe come and let us talk to you? We got like two more songs and we out of here. Would you respond to the Lord even these next moments? Just turn your face toward him. What's the Lord saying to you this morning? He's saying even in this room, there is an anointing here today for what he wants to do. I'm gonna ask you, I'll just stay in that last Jonathan, this thing that over you. I want you to hear, I want you to hear this, okay? Just listen to the Lord for a second. There is a sweet, anointing in the sanctuary. There is a stillness in the atmosphere. So come lay down, the burden you have carry, for it saves you where he is right. That's right. He is here, he is here. I've said brace that, come on, he's here. Hallelujah. He wants to lift it today, he wants to come bring it, he wants to lift it, come bring it. Hallelujah, he is here. Come on, God is here to heal the hopeless heart, come on, to heal the hopeless heart and bless the broken. So come lay down, the burden you have carry, for it saves you where he's here. One more time, he is here, come on. He is here, oh he is here, our God is here. Come on, God, come on. Hallelujah, bless you. Lift it to him, I said lift it to him, God is here, pour it out, I said pour it out on him. Come on, come lay down, come lay down, the burden you have carry, for it And we'll pray for us. And we're going to continue in his presence here for a moment. You need to be prayed for about anything. I don't know-- listen, and I know the war's there. If you got a burden or a trauma, maybe something you just never had anybody help lift before the Lord.
We'd love to break into that broad place of ministry with you. Maybe you're hearing you need Jesus to save you. Would you let us talk to you about that? Moments like this, they come, and they're soon to be over in one sense. But I think we're breaking through to another place and another. Don't miss one more song here as we worship the Lord, OK? Holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was in his code. So let's not miss this moment to just declare who our King is in all this glory, and holy is the Lord, and holy is the Lord, and seated on the throne, the train of his role, and fills the temple. And word is your name, and word is your name. Let the haven just reach us, let the earth be glad, and save among the nations that are not rained. Our God reigns forever, your King to reign. The God reigns, forever your King to reigns. Hey, this is how I want us to end here for a second, okay? We're not done ministering to people, we'll be glad to minister to you after the service because I know what it's like, because you're one step away for some kind of breakthrough in your life, one good confession, one ask in prayer, I need you to help me lift this, but we're singing our God reigns, and I want to teach you something about the kingdom. You know, in the Lord's prayer when you pray that your kingdom come, that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. What we ask for in the kingdom come is for the rule and reign of Jesus. What we're asking for, we're asking for the rule and reign of Jesus, maybe in an area, for the rule and reign, the authority of cross over a person, maybe we're asking for the rule and reign of Jesus over a part of our heart, maybe we're asking for the rule and reign of Jesus over our physical bodies, whatever it is, that there's a place that where you've got to let out your cry and say, Lord, you reign, like you reign over this. So what I want to do is I just want to sing that part to the Lord, but I want you to think about what area of your life or what thing, what person, what place are you asking for his kingdom to reign, and just with our voices for a second, let's just declare it. Maybe turn your face toward the Lord, a breakthrough for some, maybe just lift your hands, lift a situation, lift a hardship and say, God, you reign over this, let's sing it to him. Over our families, you reign, our God reigns, forever you're keen to reign, and ask for his reign over your life, over our emotions, over our finances, our God reigns, over your workplace, forever you're keen to reign, over this church, you reign, let's sing it to this, our God reigns, and our God reigns, we declare this to be true, you reign, and our God reigns forever you're keen to reign, and our God reigns, forever you're keen to reign. Just our voices for time, and our God reigns, forever you're keen to reign. So Jesus, I am praying the authority of Christ over every person, over every family, over every workplace that's represented in this room, over every school that's represented for, over every generational line, over this church, Lord, let your kingdom reign help us to aggressively agree and to So Lord, we love you.
We entrust ourselves to you. We entrust this moment to you. We entrust what you're doing in us. We pray out in Christ's name. Amen. You just stay standing for just a second. I got a couple quick things. Somebody has a general for you to join me on stage. One, some things to know. Man, God's moving as you can tell in the lives of people. If you're here, don't miss this moment and you need to be prayed for about something. We would love, love, love, love, love to pray with you. But the Christian life is more than just moments like this. It's also faithfully following him and growing and wisdom and stature favorite with God and man. And so we want to equip you every season toward that. So Wednesday nights, just so you know, we kick off a brand new equipping season. I think you can see it on the slide up there. There's several options. All of our kids ministries are back up and kick in. Student ministries are rolling. But then also for all of our adults, there's options for you to just say, hey, in this season, how can you grow a little bit in your relationship with Jesus Christ? Man, we got new things on the list. Got a grandparenting classes out there for those men to make sure you can be intentional in that season.
Your life, Brother David will be back in here teaching us awesome, equipped. When God is a talker, how to hear his voice. He joined us for United Prayer. Women's ministry has things kicking off. All that to say, there's plenty of room for everybody somewhere. We would love, love, love for you to make an intentional decision around that. Second thing, and hear me on this, it's really for those in the nine. But by God's grace, the Lord's drawing a lot of people. He's drawing a lot of people to our church. And last week, last several weeks, we've had a slot parking problem, right? And it ain't a problem, hallelujah, right? Can we give God a glory for that? (congregation applauding) So I'm gonna issue a call to those specifically those that are here during the nine and the 10, 30 hour meeting. If you're in the life group in 10, 30, if you can, I'll show you a little parking diagram here, okay? That's a CG, that's where you're at right now, okay? For those that are directionally challenged, that's us. And then right here, the little slender green spot, that's Regent's Bank. All that over there is available for us to park. We don't need to get right close to the shopping center, leave space for those, but we're out of there
before most of those even open if they do on Sunday. Here's what I would say to some of you, not to those that have a hard time getting into the building or for those that maybe you're here for my wife, she's gotta bring five kids in, right by herself. So, but for those of us that maybe can drop somebody off or drop a wife, drop kids those off, if you could park in that area, we're gonna have shuttles, two shuttles, running consistently during those times. Last week, some people lingered through our parking lot and left 'cause they couldn't find a spot. And we ain't okay with that, are we cross gates? Okay, so we've got a parking that we've opened up over here, our staff's moving over into our backyard over here, we got some parking over there 'cause we trust our staff to make it through the dark back over here and not get run over on that road, right? But for you, we wanna shuttle some that can do that. So starting next week, those that can, and you know who you are, and I know how you respond, let's do that. Last thing, my Jennifer joined me up here. Jennifer Merchant has faithfully served the Lord Jesus Cross at Cross gates for 23 years, come on. (audience applauding) Come on, that's awesome. (audience applauding) She's held several positions here, primarily most of those times,
serving in our girls ministry, which only heaven does. Only heaven does. How many chances Jennifer has been able to sit with a young lady that has come to know Jesus Cross? She's a soul winner man, and I'm so grateful, and then counseled in love and faithful, faithful, faithful to the Lord. A couple of years ago, she came to us with God even shifting in her heart desires to counsel, specifically with women and help in that arena, but wanted to get training wisely in that. And so she's been the last couple of years working real hard on top of her job, on top of family, on top of baby, all those kind of things, to finish her degree, get a count biblical counselor degree, which is awesome. And she's at that point now, where she's got to get the hours in, the reps in with counseling. By God's grace, we actually have a great counseling ministry, one of our members and compass counseling, that's Alia Hallelujah to them, they're awesome. Yeah, you're off-clap for that, that's okay. (audience applauding) I left you hanging us on me. But she's actually gonna join their team and be a part of that, an extension of us in that realm in awesome ways. And a way that we can help her in that is to continue to provide even salary for a season.
because listen, we believe in what she's doing. And so we want to bless her today, but one more time, can we tell her how grateful we are for 23 years? Come on, woo! Best news is she's not going anywhere and she's already raised up the lady Carson who's going to take her place in that role. So that's the kind of disciple maker that she is. But we do want to pray over her and bless her today. So if you could, could you just extend your hands toward Jennifer and sincerely pray for her? New assignment needs a new anointing, pray. God, thank you, thank you, thank you for this new moment and opportunity to fulfill the ministry. And I pray an anointing from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet, that you would use her to help thousands find freedom in the years ahead. We pray in Jesus name, amen, amen. We love you church family. See you Wednesday or Sunday. (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music)
