What If God Has More For You? | Crossroads Daily

Hey, welcome to Crossroads Daily. I'm Justin, back with my friends. I'm Dani. I'm Miko. I'm Alex. Today, we're talking about 2 Kings 13. We're calling it a glimpse beyond the grave. So I'll catch you up on a little bit of the story. Prophet Elisha is nearing the end of his life and this legendary prophet who God's moved in powerful ways throughout his life. He now lies on his own deathbed, and before he dies, he gives Israel a final prophecy of victory and hope. But God's power does not end when Elisha's life does. After the prophet is buried, a dead man is thrown into his tomb. And the moment this dude's body is thrown on Elisha's bones, the man comes back to life. Crazy. And even here, God has given a glimpse of greater power and greater victory still to come. So wild story again. What stands out to you in this story? It can be one of the crazy things. Doesn't have to be deep spiritual thoughts or something that struck you. Yeah, initially, I think as I was reading this earlier. I think it's this idea of. Like honor that I see here in Elisha. God gets the glory in the story, but it's like. Like none of his words failed, like to be able to speak right, like when he was talking about like earlier in this chapter, when he was talking about the arrows and hitting the arrows on the ground.

And and I'm like, what would it be like of all of the different things like that I asked or prayed to God about? Like, what would it be to be able to speak and like the heavens come into alignment with that? Right. Or you're in alignment with the heavens. Right. Like it is just it's it's it's like it makes me honor like this devout man of just God. Right. Like and to the point where like even in his death. Right. The guy gets thrown into the cave with his bones and he comes to life and it's like to be used by God in this way. It's just so it's like, man, like I'm asking for a new car like that would be cool. But I'm like, look at this right here, man, like to be used by God like this is just like mind blowing to me. Like and it is. I don't know. I think thinking about how that actually could be possible for us. Yeah. It's just a wild and crazy thought. I think because I think sometimes we can look at stories like this and be like, that was cool for people in the Bible. Like it almost sounds like this fictional book and not something that's possible for us. But that was a real that was a very real thing that happened. And the same power that you're talking about that could align the heavens for that situation is also the same powerful God that we can ask for, have relationship with. It's just yeah, it's really wild. I am the part of the chapter that sticks out to me was actually what you were mentioning with the arrows. And I read a book a couple of years ago that was really impactful for me called The Last Arrow. It's by Erwin McManus. Book Recco, if anyone ever go, there we go. But the whole book is about when he strikes the ground with the arrows and how he was actually supposed to strike more than he struck three times, but he was supposed to strike more.

Yeah. And talking about how we we should not leave anything on the table when it comes to God using us. Like when we get to the end of our lives, can we say I've given everything within me, God, for you to use? And that's so different than what America mindset tells us, which is play it safe. Yeah. Play it safe. Right. Save all your money. Stay in your house. Yes. Comfort is key. Store up your stuff. Self. Yeah. Self care. And there's nothing there's nothing like wrong with those things. But what would it look like to actually expend all of our energy and all of like no regrets when we get to the end of our life? And I remember at the time thinking about why it was so impactful is how many times do I pray for safety? Yeah. Like, God, keep me safe. And that's why it was so impactful because I changed I started to change my prayers of like, could I actually what would it look like if I? Prayed to be dangerous. Yeah, what kind of situations would that put me in like that's that's a really terrifying prayer, but I Actually don't know if God wants me to be safe. Yeah, right Yeah, that's right. He wants us like boldness courage you think about the story in Acts with the Followers of Jesus where they get persecuted. I think it's Acts 4 and they're Put in in jail and they come out and they don't say Lord, would you keep us safe and out of jail? Would you give us more boldness? Yeah, so that we just won't stop. Yeah, every story of Resurrection whether it's Jesus raising somebody back to life or it's God raising the dead to life There is no passivity in those stories. Yeah zero

It always is someone running and saying my child is dying. Will you come close? It's it's never someone going let me just wait on the Lord and I'm just gonna sit in silence and just wait for him It's it's an activity and sometimes sure silence can be that activity. No doubt Yeah, but there is action to be had and Elisha was a man of action. Yep. We just know it about his life He put his faith into action. Yeah, so What is what is knowing that because this is wild this dude gets just thrown on Elisha's bones Like there's just a pile of bones and this guy gets thrown on on his bones and then he comes back to life We just know there's power there what is that kind of power in this kind of story cuz Most people read this story and they're like you actually believe this or is this like a big fiction movie story? Right. Yeah, and I think I'll just make an assumption. I think the four of us would go. No, I actually believe it Yeah, yeah, I believe that this happened. I don't know why I don't know the dude Yeah, one day I'd love to meet him in heaven and be like what right? Yeah, tell me about that, bro But what is that kind of power? Due to you Your prayer life or just your your active life the way you're living out your faith What does that produce in you? I? Think it makes me feel like I I can be more dangerous like I don't have to be a safe because That that power is available And if I stay if I stay in safety, I might not get to experience it Yeah, yeah, and I want to see dead people raised to life. Like I want to see weird bone things like I don't know right Wait, wait just for a second. This guy got thrown into a tomb. Yeah. Yeah, and he was dead. So he must have stunk Yeah, and then he's brought back to life and he goes out among the people After a shower In you were talking about like Everybody's running toward like hey help me with this. Whatever It's like we've got to take a minute to look at what are the things that we that God calls us to do only we Can do yeah, and then what are the things that we have to step back that only God can do exactly and this? Raising him out of the tomb is only what God can do Yeah, so where my life little things big things what things are dead right now in my heart

They need to be fanned back to life resurrected thrown on the bones, you know could be big could be little Yeah, what are those things? It's exactly right back to life in me. Yeah, what are the things I've given up on? Yeah, and in in by giving up on it. I'm I'm shutting down the part of truth That is no I'm connected to the God who has all power. Yeah, right. This is a story that is wild Yeah, yeah, there is no rhyme or reason There's nobody who prayed for this dude that we know of that landed on it's just a story that is like a glimpse of like Wait, wait, there is supernatural power. Yeah, there is a spiritual realm. That's outside of the physical There's this there's a eternal realm that's outside the temporary that God goes. This is who you're connected to Yeah, when you walk with me, yeah, this is like a faith builder story to me. Yeah as a worship leader It's worth noting. One of my favorite songs is rattle like that We sing at camps and dry bones hear the Word of the Lord in our church on Easter This is the crazy one-liner in the bridge of that song where it says just ask the man who was thrown on the bones of Elisha yeah, this is that story. Yeah, and it is that what are you willing to like? He has more for you. The resurrection story of God is there is more. Yeah, don't don't be passive Don't don't just hit the arrow a few times. Yeah, this is to me like never give up. Yeah Yeah, never give up there is more that's happening here and there's more that God can do here. Yeah, so take courage 💖
