What Are We, Part 2
In this message titled "Can You Dig It?", Pastors Scott and Cindy Thomas explore the critical role of communication in relationships and life quality, using the metaphor of a shovel to illustrate three key principles. They emphasize that God has given everyone a "shovel" - representing our ability to communicate - and explain how we can use it to bury the past (through forgiveness), build the present (through positive, uplifting communication), and prepare for the future (by helping others achieve their goals and dreams). The pastors distinguish between apology and repentance, stress the importance of using words that build others up rather than tear them down, and conclude that by helping others clear their path forward, we ultimately open up our own future as well.

Until then, check out this message. Let's get into some talking today, continuing this series that we've been on. We just kicked it off a couple of weeks ago called, What Are We? What Are We? Qualifying Relationships. Qualifying, you know, okay, this drives me crazy here. My chain, it's all stuck. Is that what's going on? There we go, thank you. I should've worn my Spanx. I need to tuck all that in, just, because you sit down and stuff starts falling. Get a bigger size, people. Seriously, you've earned the right to be happy and to breathe.
Don't do that to yourself. Anyway, anyway. Unless you want to, go ahead. What are we? What are we? You ever, we do a lot of relationships, and sometimes, if we're not careful, we do them just so on automatic pilot that because we started the relationship, well, I guess we're still in it, and we just continue, and we don't think of doing things intentionally, and the importance of really engaging and making some specific intentional moves forward to make life better, and that's kind of what we want to hit on today, and hit a couple of principles that we can give you that you can think about that's gonna go across the board. This is not just marriage. It can be a parent-child relationship. It can be a co-worker relationship. It can be a business partnership. Certainly marriage, dating, whatever that is, desperate, like whatever situation. Friendships, which is a huge thing. So here's where we want to dive in. Communication is the key to relationships. It is the number one, I don't care who you talk to around the world,
all the gurus on relationships, bottom line is this. If you can't communicate, you're in a train wreck. You've got to be able to speak, to share, and there's multiple ways that we communicate, but we have to have communication going on. An exchange of thoughts. What's going on in your head? What do you feel? What are your desires? How is this situation affecting you? We've always said, if a relationship, if a relationship is just nice, and there's never conflict, somebody in the relationship is lying. Right! Right! Right! Right! Right! That was an A man of experience right there. That was, we have to be able to communicate because communication is key number one. Yes, and conflict doesn't have to be negative. We think of conflict as a negative thing, screaming mass, and it should not be because after all, we're reaching and following Christ and trying to be like him. So can we maybe call it clarification? Maybe that will help you to see it differently,
to prepare for it differently, to speak to it differently. Your body language communicates a lot, maybe by calling it clarifying. Let's clarify this point. Because again, somebody's lying, somebody's getting their way all the time, but we were all created with dominion. God gave every single human dominion. One day you will wake up, it might be 30 years from now, but you will wake up, and then it's gonna be all of that, all over the place, and somebody's gonna be totally shocked. So communication is everything. We have to be able to express, and communication, as I said, we're gonna get into what is that communication, how does it play out. But this is kind of the scenario. This is the foundation I want you to understand. The quality of your relationships determines the quality of your life. If your relationships are bad, life sucketh. If you don't look forward to going home because of the people you have to do home with, that's a problem. They shouldn't drain you, they should fill you back up again.
It should be a place where I'm stronger. Nobody invites drama to go on vacation with them. No one's just looking for a friend group to hang out with where everyone's gonna be fighting, this is gonna be fun. No, that's called a reality program. That's not, you sit and you watch that, you don't get involved in that. So watch this. The quality of your relationships determines the quality of your life. Well, if the quality of your relationships is determined by the quality of your communication, then that means the quality of your communication determines. is the quality of your life. That's right. How well I do at communicating my heart, my thoughts, my feelings, insecurities, fears, dreams, how well I do that determines the quality, the value. When the insecurity is gone and you can open up and share freely about what you're afraid of, what you love, what you hope to see, I can share my dreams with my wife because she's not gonna go, oh my God, Scott, that's ridiculous. I'll do that once or twice, and if she keeps raining on my dreams, she'll never hear another one for the rest of my life. Right, right. You shut them down, I will keep them.
I'll find somebody else to share my dreams with. And so we have to make sure that communication, not just what I'm sharing, but what I'm able to receive, setting the atmosphere. Where does this come from? God is a communicator. Amen, yes sir. His word, he's always wanted to communicate and speak to our hearts, guide and lead and direct us. Holy Spirit, alive in us as believers is always prodding and leading us forward. So the Bible is simply a book of communication. And when we see how God communicates with those that he loves, truth in love, then we have to find some keys from this that we can also communicate truth in love so that we can build towards an ultimate goal. And we are created in his image. So you and I are always communicating something. You may not open your mouth, but we are always communicating. So because we're always communicating, that's why I think it's so important that that communication that we're giving out is excellent, that is good, that is quality. And so that word quality is really important. So we're talking a lot of quality, quality communication, quality relationships. What does quality mean? Well, let's go to the Bible, Proverbs chapter 18.
Proverbs 18, verses 19 through 21. Look at this, here's what it says. An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Read this. Arguments separate friends like a gated lock with bars. Wise words satisfy like a good meal. The right words bring satisfaction. The tongue can bring life or death. Those who love to talk will reap the consequence. Anybody know somebody that likes to talk a lot? And you're, yeah, okay. Look, the Bible here is not slamming on people who talk a lot. So if you talk a lot, good for you, it's okay. No problem, but what the word is saying is whatever you say, there'll be consequences. You and I are producing results. There's gonna be a fruit. It's gonna have a kickback. I can't just say anything I want to to my wife, how I feel, and just let her have it. It will produce some consequences. He sure will. Caleb. He sure will. Caleb and Liz, can I come over and spend the night? Because it's kind of cold in my house right now. Like, that's not good, that's not good. There's consequences. And to the good.
You can pour life and strength into other people. And when you are a giver of life, you receive life back. It really is the life and death and the power of the tongue. So the Bible from the jump is already talking about communication. Quality has to do with the value, the worth of my investment into other people. How much am I really caring about them? Am I talking to just to get what I need out of them? Am I talking to just stay close? Or am I truly investing in these people that God has put into my life? I am convinced that a lot of times when, and you and I have seen this. In fact, you and I have lived this. I know what it is to be in conversation with somebody. And before they finish what they're saying, I'm already thinking of my response. And which means I stopped listening to what they had to say halfway through what they said. And I started to formulate my response. We've got to stop, back up, and listen. Listen to me. And when I say listen, feel my words. Don't just hear them. Allow them to settle on your heart. Feel the weight of what I'm saying so that we're on the same page. And so God's word speaks to this very, very, very plainly.
Married folk, relationships in general, I think we can all relate with this. You ever gotten yourself in a situation that you had to dig your way out of? Is that it? Yes. Yeah, man. It's just us, honey. It's just us. We're the problem. We're the only ones that do that? Anybody ever had to dig your way out? Like you knew you blew it, and man, you are. Anybody ever, like, you, you, you blew it. Knew you shouldn't have said it. Yeah, the Holy Spirit was already there going don't say this and you heard it But you ran right through that barrier and said it anyway anybody ever done that All the time Somebody'll say that's a small shovel compared to what I had to dig with well, I understand I understand Because we've all been through some stuff and we've all tried to dig our way out again. I Had to buy a new one because I broke my last one We we look to try to dig our way out and and and so we're always We're going through stuff and we're saying stuff and we can find ourselves did but but but but I want you to understand That we don't just have a shovel for the bad times Everybody in a relationship has been given a shovel You own one everybody does and What you do with that shovel how you handle your communication and your words are going to decide the results of
The situation you're dealing with and facing and I want to take you sitting there going to take you through three different scenarios Of how to use your shovel To make sure you're getting the right To make sure you're getting the right stuff out of it. Let's let's let's talk about this today real quick. Let's let's go here Can you dig it can you dig it well number one The first thing that's really important if you're going to have quality relationships is you've got to bury the past Can you dig it You've got to bury the past There's a lot of things we've been through. We've got some scenarios. We got some situations. We got things We've said things we've done. We've got things in our relationship that we've been through We've got all kinds of things that we can ruminate on them We can dwell on and we can keep talking about it But I just want to remind you what you talk about will continue to live right, right? If you want to forget the past quit talking about it You want to forget the past change the subject? That's right Because there's no reason for your mind to run anything else other than believe it or not You are one track minded and we've got to make sure that we're protecting those thoughts We have experienced that we have experienced hurt and relationships that have exited our lives and it is really easy Even between us. Well, it's just you it's just me and you talking and I get that I get that we have to vent I get that we have a person but there comes a time that even with us We have to put a boundary and say you know what? We can't talk about this anymore because the more we talk about it We keep digging it up and digging it up and it's forever present in Every in every aspect of our life, you know on a daily basis and we have had conversations. It's like, you know what? I'm making myself accountable because words are seeds Every word is a seed. So when you put it out, it's gonna give you the good fruit or bad fruit Is it gonna be your life or death?
So even with us we do it with each other But also together in situations that have hurt us we decide you know what this is a boundary Let's speak life You can dig up the past or you can bury the past You've got a shovel in your hand I can pile stuff on it and make it go away and harder to ever get back to or I can start digging up the Past and then wonder why I got dead stinking stuff laying all around me It's one of the two the Bible says in Ephesians chapter 4 verse 32 It says be kind and compassionate to one another forgiving each other I know it's the f-word but hold on forgiving each other just as in Christ God Forgave you would you turn someone tell him he forgave your sorry self. He forgave your sorry self We got some forgiven to do ourselves not now. No, I know we're not crazy about this forgiving Burying the past what they said what they did some of us have that that memory man You know the day the time the hour the second you know what they were wearing the cologne or the perfume that they had on You know, I mean like you've got it down. You're a forensic Scientist when it comes to that moment right there It's more you can bring it up right now, and we've got to decide Is that gonna keep living every week in this house, right? Well, we're gonna start burying it with some forgiveness and truly allow it to be the past So that's not the past until it's gone We've got to get it out of the present. You see there's Let me just kind of hit a little sidebar here. I think it's let's run here on this point. There's two levels of forgiveness number one Do you forgive even if someone does not ask for forgiveness Of course you do. Absolutely. It's tough. If you need to wait on an apology before you actually forgive, then what do you do with the person who died? You've got unforgiveness towards somebody or there was a fight or something. What do I do? I've got to let some things go. I've got to let some things go. What do you do with a co-worker who moved on, changed states, but there was that thing, that tension is still there. A former employer. There's
all kinds of scenarios. You may never get an I'm sorry from that ex. Right. But you've got to let him go. Someone shout let him go. Let him go. You let him go because of what it's costing you. I forgive. I extend that forgiveness. So without the apology, without the repentance, do I forgive? Of course you do. What about with the repentance? Somebody repents to me. Someone asks a spouse, a friend, please forgive me for this. Do I say yes? And of course the answer with that one again is yes. I've got to accept it and I have to release him or her and let that truly be in the past. Why? Because it's costing you your peace. Right. And if it costs your peace, it's too expensive. That's right. It's keeping you from your future. You can't even laugh deep today because you're still so anxious and torn up and there's that thing. You got that bad taste in your mouth. It's the aftertaste in life that you just can't get out. No matter what you do, the best vacation won't take it away. We've got to make sure that we are actually forgiving. But here's the deal. There's a difference between an apology and repentance. Talk about it. And I need you to get this. Let me just kind of just just run this through what came back. In fact, the difference between an apology and repentance decides if the person is going to be a part of your future or not. Right. And here's how you can qualify. These are some things to give you a little bit of perspective. An apology is focused on the person wanting to stay connected to you. Repentance is the person focused on wanting to heal the damage they caused. Say it one more time. Apologies. An apology is when someone is focused on staying close to you. I don't want to lose the relationship. It's too good because you buy dinner. Like I want I want to be I just oh I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry. And and they want to stay close. They just want to continue. Let's get over the bump and let's just continue the way things have been. That's an apology. Repentance is when the person is focused on healing the damage that they caused in your life. And those are two different things. Maybe here's another one. An apology. An apology is immediate and the immediate expression of regret. Man I'm sorry that didn't need to happen. Repentance is remorse over the damage that's expressed over time. An
apology is immediate. Can we just get on with it? You don't understand. Can we move on? Then you're not repenting. Because repentance is not just what you say. Repentance is what you live out. Repentance is that you back up. You can apologize today but if you do the same thing next week and the same thing the next week and the same thing the next week all you're doing is apologizing. You're not repenting. Can I remind you what the word repentance means? It means to change your ways. Change direction. When I repented and gave my heart to God I didn't say Lord come into my heart forgive me and keep living the same way I was living. When I invited him into my life and said Lord forgive me I changed my ways because now I'm following him. I'm no longer following me. That is repentance according to the Bible and in your life and my life. So digging up the past all it does is reopen wounds and it prevents healing. You and I've got to make sure that we're using our shovels well. That we're not just causing more pain day in and day out but we're actually going somewhere and we're moving forward. We're not keeping scorecards or holding on to revenge. And I think it's important because it gives us the freedom to forgive because you that way nobody is holding on. You're not in bondage to anyone. No one controls your destiny but God no one should have that much power and the only reason they would have that power is if we surrender it to them. That's the only way. Not even the enemy can have power over you. We will have to surrender it. So when when somebody apologizes when somebody repents either way we will forgive because it's what we choose to do because what we want for our future. Now Pastor Scott said that will determine the future relationship. I can forgive you that doesn't mean we're back to the way it was because the way it was was not working. Might have been working for you but it was not working very well for me. I'm not gonna hold grudges. I'm not gonna talk about you because I'm gonna bury the past so I can't keep digging it up But I'm gonna move on and I'm gonna love you from afar in the love of Christ. That means I don't I need Christ And I'm gonna love you through his love on my own Deuces
And that's okay y'all pray for your boy, all right, you see what I'm yeah My honey you repent you it's watch this Boundaries are not ungodly, right, right. It's okay to look at someone say never again. I Love you. God bless you Go do that somewhere else never again here And so set those the Bible says in Isaiah 43 it says this in fact read this first line with me ready go Forget the former things Do not dwell on the past see I'm doing a new thing now it springs up Do you not perceive it? I'm making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland watch this Here's what I want you to know digging up your past Blocked your vision to the future You'll never see your future as long as you're looking in your past You keep talking about back in the day You took to keep talking about how it used to be you keep talking about it should have been this well back We used to never do and you keep that going. You'll never catch a vision for your future The Bible says forget the former things don't dwell on them. I'm doing something new. Can't you see it? In other words, if you keep looking back and you stay focused on what was you'll never see what can be, right? Listen, Jim and your future is way too valuable to live in a place of unrepentance Anger revenge let it go turn someone tell them let it go. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go Yeah So so this week as you go by this afternoon start thinking what? Thing of the past do I keep digging up? What is it that is robbing me from going forward and then just I mean you don't have to come up with Everything think of one thing Change that Change that stop digging that and see what happens in the next seven days Number one, you got to bury the past number two. Here's how you use your shovel because everybody's got one everybody's got one You've got to build the present Build the present when I was growing up. My dad was a foreman a contractor. He he ran he ran building homes and then was actually built the home that we lived in and built the church that he was pastoring all at the
Same time and as a kid, I would go out on non school days and I would work with my dad I have my little tool apron that I would tie my tie I would tire tie on and and get out there and run with him and he had me digging ditches for the founders the Foundation the footers for the house and and for the church and and we did a lot of digging That was a part of what we did I had to mix concrete by hand child labor back in the day But but mixing concrete and I'm using the shovel and had the big mud box and I had it down how much cement and sand And water I had it down But it took my shovel to do that in order to build something right now and here's what I want you to understand Not only does your shovel have the ability to bury the past your shovel has the ability to build the present And it's going to take shovel fulls regularly Pouring onto those relationships in order for them to stay healthy and going in the right direction Shovel fulls of joy shovel fulls of laughter shovel fulls of encouragement shovel fulls of I'm here I got your back bro shovel fulls of a little text message that just just shoots out just because I made two calls to some Friends of mine yesterday left them voicemail I love I love the little application where you can pull up to leave my text and just hit the little thing where you don't Have to talk to anybody And you just record your voice and you send them a voicemail like you're just that way that because if you call or text they might Answer and I don't want to talk to anybody But I just want to say I love you and I'm thinking about you Y'all know what I'm talking about I ain't got time to talk but I just want to shoot it and it's easier than texting right so that that's but but we We've got to shoot shovel fools We got to put shovel fools on top of our marriage on top of our children on top of co-workers Don't just assume that they know that you care or that you love them. Look them in the face. Tell me yo, you're doing good I love you. What can I do anything for you? Lean in use your shovel to build the present Yes, because as we continue to pour in if you've noticed, I mean, I never did construction I know it's hard to believe
That I didn't but i've seen piles of dirt That somebody with a shovel You know shoveled in there and he looks really mushy And I have never done it, but i've seen kids I don't believe a single word that somebody has actually said run and I jump on there and it is mushy. It's mushy. It's mushy. It's cushiony. Yes. You cannot get married Just because you work in the field That means you have a lot of emotions I can't do it because then I'll be dirty and I can't do that. However, what what I You have time they can come and talk to you the way I see it is the more you build the more you shovel in is building a Right It works buffer and when you build a buffer I know we do it with us I do it with my kids I'm really trying to do it with the staff it builds a buffer so then when something comes up because we're human because we all have funky days when something comes up and we're sideways on the same day and there's a little bit of friction it's okay because there's so much buffer between you and I we just bounce we just bounce and everything is okay everything is not a big State of the Union address doesn't require because there's so much cushion between us because we've built and we built and we poured in important well we've insulated and cushioned those relationships so we don't have raw nerves that are just out there exactly Ephesians chapter 4 verse 29 says this do not use harmful words but only helpful words the kind that build up and provide what is needed so that what you say will do good to those who hear you in other words watch your mouth like deal with that David prayed this way in the psalm Lord put a guard at my mouth because I might say something that I shouldn't say today you do understand you should not say everything you think
right everyone understands that that might not go well I promise you right now we've got to set guards at our mouth our job if we're going to build the present watch this everyone's job under the sound of my voice everybody you want what's your purpose in life you're to be a life giver you're to produce life in people they should smile when you show up they're here that Cindy does that every time I walk in the house it's it's wonderful it's precious it's sweet I'm working on it I'm working on it but we're to be life givers a life giver at work a life giver with your kids make your kids laugh not always correcting catch them doing the right things pour life into them celebrate joy I'm not saying that we live life fluffy we certainly speak truth as well we we don't hold that back but man when you're giving life life life life when we when there's an area that needs to be corrected or redirected or realigned we can do that as Cindy said because we built enough equity into the relationship and it's not always hard but it's the laughter and the joy that allows us to talk in these situations we need this in our business we need this with our friendships we need this in our families we certainly did in our marriages we've got to keep using our shovelfuls of joy and hope and encouragement and love and communication to pile that on so no one ever questions how you feel about them they feel that love they feel that support they feel that strength we have to be intentional about it because I don't know about you but the flesh this human beast that we are you don't even have to think to say the wrong thing it's like breathing you don't even know you're doing it just happens it's like a gift that I have I don't know about you but I know I have it and but to speak life and to build you have to be intentional it's not gonna happen by accident it's not gonna happen because you're thinking you got to put action you have to be intentional you have to wake up and say how you got to get a plan how am I gonna be a blessing today to Scott to my personality it doesn't come natural to me I am a person that my job is to go and look what is wrong and point it out so we can bring it into order that is that is what makes me valuable in the team however I have to be intentional to
walk in a room and intentionally see what is working and call it out with the same energy and same intention that I do the job that I need to continue to do but I have to balance myself that is my responsibility and we need to do it because we want to build and if you want different relationships and it's not working out we got to do something different try it money-back guarantee by Scott I I trust your shovel honey you don't gravitate towards every voice if you think about Right now, who do you want to hang with? You're going to think immediately of somebody who is an encourager. Someone who makes you laugh. Someone who is, man, it's good to be around them. I'm just, I can drop my guard. They're not after anything that I have. I'm not competing with them. That's my guy. That's my girl. Hopefully that's what your marriage feels like. If you're engaged and you don't feel that, run, Forrest, run. Today. Get it right. It matters. So number one, bury the past. Number two, build the present. Number three, use your shovel to, surprising, shocking, prep for the future. Prepare for the future. What do I mean by that? When I was growing up, you've heard me talk a lot about my uncle's farm. Well, in the back of our house, not just at my uncle's farm, dad decided he wanted to put in a garden.
And so in order for him to have a garden, he sent his child out, child labor, and had me do some of the clearing of the ground. And so I had the shovel digging up rocks and moving things out of the way for this little patch that we could plant all of our veggies. In other words, I used my shovel to prep for the things that were going to come in the future. You and I, when we use our shovels right that we all have in the relationships around us, it's not just burying the past and it's not just building the present, but we're also able to help people look into the future and dream out loud. I have discovered it's a very rare gift when you find a friend who you can dream with. Someone who can, like, tell you stuff that 99 out of 100 will look at you and go, oh, that's never going to work. And they may be right, but I don't need to hear that. I need someone who'll go, wow, how cool would that be if that happened? Man, what if we tried this? What about if you...have you ever looked into this? Have you ever read that? Man, I've talked to somebody who's doing that very thing. How about somebody who helps to push your dream forward, not just throw water on it and douse it and kill it immediately? It's critical that we are using our shovelfuls to help build people's future, help them to see clearer going forward, bring the dreams alive. Why? Because it's in the dream that someone finds purpose. It's in the dream that someone finds their creativity, their joy, a new reason to wake up in the morning. Not just a job, but now I'm working a career. Those become major changes in our mind and our heart, but we have to be people, number one, that pours into other people's dreams.
And number two, have those people in our life that waters and adds fuel to our dreams as well. Dream out loud. Deal well. Get somebody that you can deal well with, somebody that you are the person that they can dream with. We've got to use our shovels to build for the future. And it is important because it is not our job to protect people. And sometimes we don't let people dream because we are looking at all the things that may or may not work. Listen, God is their source the same way that he's your source. The same way that God orders your steps and open and closes doors for you, God will open and close doors for them. Let them dream because in that dreaming, they may think they're going into this door, but that door is just a hallway, and it's going to take them to all the doors they cannot even see, they have never been exposed to. And your encouragement is going to take them that way. It is not our job to police the dreams. It is our job to encourage. Now, speak truth, if somebody can't sing, don't encourage them to go on The Voice or American Idol or any of those. You know, don't lie to people. Or on the platform at Freelife Chapel. Yeah, yeah, don't lie. Don't lie to people, but encourage other people. Be that person that when somebody needs to celebrate, that you are the first spencer that comes to mind. Be that person. Yeah, that's the value of that. In other words, help somebody clear the path towards their desired future.
The Bible says this in 1 Thessalonians 5, 11, encourage and build one another up just as you're already doing. Oh, I like this one, Proverbs 11, verse 25, help others and you will be helped. That part, so good. You need some help? Stop asking everyone to help you and start helping others. And when you start pouring into others, when I use my shovel to build others, they'll pull their shovel out to help me. And ladies and gentlemen, their shovel might be bigger than yours. You just never know what someone can help do in your life. Would you please stand to your feet? You still may need to use your shovel to dig yourself out of a hole you put yourself in. I get that. I've been there, done that. But ladies and gentlemen, we can use these giftings, these abilities that God has given all of us to end the past. Let it go. Let it go. Drop the scorecard. If the person that caused you pain and hurt is repentant and they're showing you I'm sorry, I'm living this the best I can to express that, believe them and move forward. Use the shovel to bury the past. Use the shovel to build the present. Pour life into people. Strengthen them. Encourage them. Love them. Laugh with them. Use that shovel to prep the way for the future. Dream with them.
Encourage. Pour ideas into them. Bring it to life. You never know what God will do with that and you and I get the opportunity, the privilege of being a part of what God's doing in their life. You're made to be a life giver. That's what your shovel is all about. If you use it well, it will come back and feed you. If you use it wrong, there's consequences. There's a fruit to everything we do. If you don't like the fruit that's on the table, then maybe we need to change how we're using the shovel. I want to pray today for relationships in general today. There's some of you in this room that are hurting. There's some marriages that are in difficult situations right now. I get it. I get it. Marriage is tough. Marriage takes work. Marriage takes Jesus. He does. Marriage takes Jesus. Sure does. It takes a humble heart. A lot of repenting. A lot of repenting. I made reservations at Domino's for Valentine's Day and she was so upset. I want a palace pizza. You want a palace? Yeah, I'm kidding.
I'm kidding. Let's pray. Father, thank you for the ability that we have to call on you in our relationships and know that you're interested, you're there. Your word continues to push us together, draw us together as a body, as a family, as a unit. Two becoming one when it comes to marriage. And God, in order for that to happen, there's a lot of humility. Pride must die. Selfishness must go. Selflessness must come. Serving each other, loving each other, considering others. God, this is the call of your word, even to consider others beyond and before ourself. I pray, God, that you would heal situations in this room and just simple conversations that we would have on two chairs on a Sunday morning that would just open some hearts and conversation to maybe, God, you're doing something in our home. Start a new conversation. Get some words of healing and joy and laughter and encouragement flowing. Let the dreams begin to break out again. Lord, let us begin to plan towards the future, bury a past, build a present, structure and build towards, dream towards a future. God, let that be a part of who we are because we understand that we sow, we will reap. So today, God, I pray for every person, every relationship in this room. God, heal parent-child relationships. Heal friendships in this room. Heal marriages. God, would you just do something in all of our lives and remind us that we live for your pleasure and that if we'll do things your way, we'll get your results. Thank you for this. We bless you for it all in Jesus' name. Amen.
