In all thrones and dominions, all powers and positions, your name stands above them all. And the angels cry, holy, all creation cries, holy, you are lifted high, holy, holy forever. If you've been forgiven, if you've been redeemed, sing the song forever to Him. If you walk in freedom, if you bear His name, oh, sing the song forever to Him. Sing the song forever and amen. God, you are so holy, holy, holy, holy is the Lamb of God. God, fear does not live here when we insert the name of Jesus. It has to flee. Anxiety has to flee. Doubt, it has to flee. All of this has to flee in your mighty name, and that is one name, that is Jesus.
And we came to bask in your holiness. We came to sit in your presence. We came to absorb your holiness in our life, God, because you make us pure, Lord. So, God, we thank you for who you are, God. We lift you up, God. We give you praise. We give you honor. We give you glory. And everyone in the church, they gave a mighty, hey, can we give God a little praise this morning? Good morning. Have your seat. Tell your neighbor, welcome, welcome, welcome home. Make me want to do a woo! Woo! Feel right now. How many of us excited to be here this morning? I know y'all excited. We got a packed house. Since y'all coming out with that 70 degree weather, brought you out the house. I see you. We are so excited to have you here. We say welcome home because we believe that you are actually home. And for you to feel that you are home, you have to feel that you belong. So you belong the way that you walked in. Now it's our job as the church to help you grow in that. We believe that God is looking for unlikely people from overlooked places to do extraordinary things. HKC is reaching the one that is far from God and then helping them become a passionate follower of Jesus. Which is the church's job. To help you become a passionate follower of Jesus. And to the first time guest, we welcome you.
It is not by happenstance that you are here. The invite that was given to you was not a coincidence. But the invite that was given to you, it was given to you and it was prayerfully thought of. And it was prayerfully thought of by the people that are sitting next to you. And for the church member that is continuously growing in our tribe, we welcome you. For the one that is on pando right now watching. We welcome you and we say that you are seen and that you are loved. And I want to pray a special prayer because yesterday we had the privilege to go to not one but two prisons. We went to Maryville Correctional Center. We went to Crossroads Correctional Center. And we were able to bring the word of God and worship and testimony and in truth to over 500 men throughout those facilities. And right now I pray that these men that are watching, because I know that they are watching. That they would wake up with a fresh anointing and that what they received yesterday would not just go over their head and be a feeling or an experience. But they would use that conviction that was placed in their heart by God. That they would wake up this morning with a fresh anointing and press into the Lord in Jesus mighty name. Well hey, is it okay if I share my heart with you for a moment? You know I share my heart with you and my heart is that when you come into this church that you would stay inside this church. I ain't get a lot of cheers on that but I'm telling you right now if you come into this church you stay inside this church because the thing about our church is we have a big wide open front door but our mission inside of it is to close the back door because too often have we seen through discipleship in our church of men and women they come and we see God moving in their life and then something happens wind comes a storm comes something blows around and shakes them up a bit and then what happens we lose them they're gone and where did they go I do not know I taught discipleship for years in that classroom there are many people underneath the sound of my voice right now have that been underneath my teaching in that classroom and there are many more where I do not know where they went and the purpose of being in the church is to grow with one another and to live
this thing out and to look around and say this can be my life this does not have to be a phase of my life church is not a season church this is not a season this is life and we do life with one another and we are going through seasons but we are going through them with together as a church this is not a phase and so after teaching growth track for so long we've noticed that we identified a problem because we've seen that people would go and it was my first day that I walked inside this church and I walked in here I knew no other man I knew one woman and that's my wife that is all I knew when I walked in this church but you know what I had I had a desire to grow in relationship and fellowship with others that's what I wanted I knew for a fact that I could not keep the old friends I knew for a fact I needed to get around some men of God I knew for a fact that I needed to have some men of God that were above me that had been walking this thing out I allowed them to speak it to my life and allow the ones that had not walked it out not speak it to my life and so I drove to Harrison ville 50 minutes away on a Friday night and I sat in a living room of someone's house I did not know and then I drove to Grandview on a Thursday night and I sat in a basement of someone's house I did not know and on Monday night I drove to Grand Valley and I sat in a living room of someone's house that I did not know and did I feel uncomfortable that first night yes did I feel uncomfortable maybe that second night yes but can I tell you something that something happened and was birthed in those living rooms relationships started building outside of the rows here they started building in circles we started having fellowship with one another we started eating and all of a sudden my phone list grew I started to have men in my life I started to have friends in my life I started to have people that I connected to all of a sudden people were wanting me to be somewhere they were checking on me if I wasn't they were not getting lost and slipping out the back door there was accountability there that listen church church is not Sunday church is every single day and what we are launching in two weeks from now is growth groups and those are small groups that are in homes and can I tell you that reach
you church it's on you to decide the hey I want that connection that is on you to decide to take that one leap of faith out because I can stand and testify that I am so thankful that I did I'm so thankful that God put me in a position to do that and to be vulnerable enough to submit to him and say yes so I am wearing a salmon colored shirt today because if you have a question about growth groups when I am done you come holler at me in my salmon colored shirt and I will pull your phone out and I will get you registered and I will get you in a group because you belong in a group you do not belong just here on a Sunday or in this aisle you belong together to grow with you so help us do that because as I began to grow and as I began to grow on my faith and as I began to grow on my fellowship you know what else started to grow everything else including my giving everything I wanted to give what's the God it's a progressive sanctification discipleship is going to happen in those circles and you may be one that hears this tithing offer every single week it turns a ear to it that says not for me but you get inside of a growth group you will add another man speaking to your life that has a little bit more time in this thing you let some fellowship happen inside of those circles and you let some life change happen it then you come holler at me after that you see what God will do in your life so we're gonna take up an offering if I can get some ushers up father God we thank you for your faithfulness because you are faithful you are not changing Lord forgive us for how we treat you under the conditions of our life God help us grow in faith with you help us grow in faith and communion with each other help us grow in fellowship with one another God we are thankful for who you are we're thankful for the ability to have breath in our lungs to walk today to sit down today to feel sunlight on our skin God there are some of us that know what it's like to be in a box with no sunlight felt our skin
and God we feel you in this place God we ask that you bless the gift we ask that you bless the giver in Jesus mighty name amen the transformation of the heart was never to be kept to ourselves we are transformed so that we can serve and love others well we can sit in rows and worship with our hands up and very easily we can find ourselves retreating back to that isolation one could say that the resistance through community is where our faith and our fellowship builds and better yet where it grows with people that love you where you are known and you are cared for and you are celebrated and all of this is because we were not designed to do this alone no fire burns alone by itself but it continues to burn along with others and in your homes and through laughter and through tears and through food and fellowship is where we will continue to lift one another up encourage one another in faith hold each other accountable and grow not through just rows but in service of your homes welcome to growth groups come on a man hey you can scan that QR code right there you can get signed up for a group as Tucker said they kick off here in a couple of weeks isn't that awesome I didn't know that we had AMC's voiceover guy coming right here to reach Casey a man did anybody else know that you didn't know that that when you went to B&B theaters Tucker Robertson was the voiceover for those movies welcome to B&B theaters you know it's it's honestly awesome to be able to be a part of what God is doing here and so I just want to welcome everybody here again and just let you know that hey we are just so thankful that you are here and we just believe that God has the best for your life amen and that he is gonna do something in and through you and so I just I personally believe that that what he has for you is just something supernatural and so we are excited to just see what God is doing in and through people's lives well we are in a series that is titled transformed this is actually the last message in this series believe it or not we have went through the book of Romans basically for the last 12 months almost and I think I'm gonna go through the book of Matthew next and we're just gonna jump into a gospel and read about the the life of
Jesus and and all of the miracles and different things and teachings that Jesus gave us and so I'm excited to jump into one of those but for right now we are in the the Romans 15 and and into 16 and so you can turn there with me if you want you can just place a finger there and and hold it but I've titled my message today a church on the move a church on the move because we don't want a church sitting still. Have you ever been in an airport and stepped onto one of those moving walkways? Anybody ever ever stepped on it? Like the moment you step on it you're moving and and you just are standing still. I mean and it just carries you forward but here's what's interesting is some people don't just stand there. If you're like Pastor Adam you start walking right and and when you walk on that walkway you move faster than everyone else. In fact if you are on them in bigger airports it says please move to this right side if you are not walking. If you're standing still move to why because there is something that is moving that that is coming right past you and it's funny to me because Catherine hates these things. She despises them. I don't know why she says I feel like I'm gonna fall over whenever I get on it but whenever we are at the airport I always get on and if you're at a big airport like like Dallas or Atlanta they're in every terminal and gateway. I mean they're just moving and I get on them and it's funny because I just start walking regular and I'm looking over to the side and Catherine's like she would literally rather run through the airport than step on one of these walkways with me and it's just funny because it's just like you know we get down there and I'm just like well that was cool and she's like hold on hold on you got to wait for me now because I got to catch my breath. I'm like you should know you should catch up bro like get on the walkway with me you know like it's not that difficult like I think it's the transition that gets her you know what I mean because when you get on it's like oh we're going you know it's it's happening like this is what's happening and then whenever you get off it's like okay we're not and and like you just kind of it's like when you get out of a car that had a lot of bass you know you still feel that bass you know and it's like when she gets off she still feels like she's walking you know and it's it's just kind of weird but that's a picture of the church because God's mission is moving. It is moving the gospel is advancing lives are being changed the kingdom is expanding and the question isn't is God moving it's are we moving with him? Are we moving with him because you can be in church but still standing still
right you can you can be busy but moving in the absolute wrong direction and a church on the move isn't just a church that gathers like like Tuck was just talking about but it's a church that goes. It's a church that goes because Sunday morning isn't enough just talk about it's it's every single day every single day of the week if it doesn't resist what God is doing it aligns with it right a church that goes isn't one that resists it's what aligns with it God's mission is moving are we standing still or are we stepping in are we getting on that because the thing that I love about the moving sidewalks is this is that all of the sudden when you get on one it like doubles the pace of everything that you were doing and I don't know about you but when I get when I got on the train and the mission of the local church and I aligned my life with the mission of Jesus Christ all of the sudden it was like I stepped onto a moving sidewalk and my life began to move at a faster pace I was talking to a brother yesterday after the prison and he said man it's crazy how every story when you see somebody committing their life to Jesus that restoration begins to happen and sometimes it can be happening at a progressive pace and it's because when you step onto that walk when you step onto the mission of Jesus all of the sudden your life begins to move at a faster pace and what God can do in your life is just supernatural and so today out of Romans 15 I want to look at three ways to join God's mission three ways to join God's mission and the first way is this choose mission over maintenance choose mission over maintenance Paul 15 or Romans 15 Paul says this he says for I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me and if we could grasp that all of the war stories all of the one-ups all of the big dope big wills big things who cares about stuff like that all of that stuff would dissipate and if I would just begin to brag and talk about the things that Christ has done in me in word and deed to make the Gentiles obedient because of the life that Paul lived he said what I what had happened through me brought people into alignment in mighty signs and wonders by the power of the Spirit of God so that from Jerusalem and around about Lyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ and so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel not where Christ was named lest I should build on another man's foundation here's how the NLT reads and I love this passage it's written on my marker board in my office and it says in this verse 20 my ambition has always been to preach the good news where the name of Christ has never been heard rather than where a church has
already been started by somebody else when I read that I'm like how have I never seen that how have I never seen that that got the mission that Paul had was to go start ministries not by stealing sheep but by seeking say of the lost and getting them saved right when I very first began in ministry I remember being in a room with other ministers and feeling very insecure because I was different I mean you can see it especially in a room full of other pastors you know you're like what's that guy doing here you know and they probably thought that same thing and I felt that deep in my spirit but I didn't care because I had a God confidence that was in me that would move me about and I talked in ways that were different I still talk in ways that are different I say edgy stuff I remember attending a church of a good friend of mine that's actually speaking here soon Pastor Doug and he told me one day he said yeah you and your wife are just rough around the edges and I thought what's that mean because I'm a I'm a senior in Bible college right now like I'm not understand maybe it was the tattoos maybe it was my language I don't know but I felt called to something different I felt called to places that were different to the extent that people even tried to counsel me out of launching a church where we wanted to launch one they said don't go there go over here and so we tried to listen but it just wasn't working and and here's the truth that I know Christ didn't pull me out of the life that I lived to put me on cruise control and have me do what everybody else is doing that ain't what it this isn't this isn't about me this isn't about my comfort but it's what about Christ has done through me and in me and I don't know about you but I want to see signs and wonders and miracles following everything that God is doing in and through us but in order to see miracles you got to have some situations that require them see everybody wants a miracle but nobody wants the situation that requires one because see in order to be able to brag about what God has done in your life you have to have first went through something and I will not dare speak of any of the things which Christ has not accomplished through me because if I plant a church off the influence of others if I plant a church
reaching the same people that everybody else is reaching what have I done build on someone else's foundation come in and did something I don't want to be a church like every other church I've had to find my lane I've had to find my niche I've had to have pastors that pastor a church of 3,000 people say man don't apologize for who you are be you be who God has called you to be you don't have to be like us you don't have to be like these other places I don't want to be a church that just plants churches in communities that that are reaching everybody there already I want to be a church that is going to a place and reaching people that are unreached and and doing things that aren't be being done and reach people that aren't being reached I'm going to a community to reach the center to bring hope to the addict to see the blind healed to see the sick save to see the prisoner set free to see the people that are stuck in oppression depression addiction suicidal thoughts all of these different things I want to see chains loose I want to see chains break I want to see life set free I want to see people crying weeping because God has done something in their life and I can't help but think of Isaiah and 61 he says the spirit of the Sovereign Lord God is upon me for the Lord has appointed me to bring the good news to the poor he has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted proclaim captives will be released and prisoners will be set free this ain't stuff that Adam Brown made up this is stuff that the Bible said was gonna happen and he has sent me to tell those who mourn time of the Lord has come and with it when the day has arrived that that the day of God's anger against their enemies and to whom all mourn in Israel which is the children of God which is you he will give you a crown of beauty for ashes that means every burnt up broke down thing that you done went through you're going to have a crown placed upon your head and you're going to be able to walk into the presence of Jesus because of everything that you have went through and you can tell the devil you ain't got nothing on me because I got beauty for these ashes and you got a joyous blessing God I'm just grateful for you God I'm just grateful for somebody throw some effects on my voice I can't do that I was cracking I can't go that high it's not about the voice it's about the heart behind it amen
unless you serve on the worship team then it's about the voice too and the heart behind it and he said festive praise see that's what I offer Jesse and and and Catherine I got a festive praise come on somebody say it louder for the ones in the back I'm gonna shout with praise I'm gonna bring my offering I'm gonna lay it down at the altar because God I got something to bring to you so you just gotta preach it and they believe you says in their righteousness now I'm a tree guy I love this I'm preaching this point I ain't even got to my shoot in their righteousness they will be like great oaks did you know an oak tree is one of the strongest trees that they have you you don't just blow them over they don't just very seldomly do you pick up oak trees in a storm even because they can stand the test of time and the weathering it says in their righteousness they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his glory they who's this day they keep talking about it's the ones that is that is broken the ones that are experiencing beauty for ashes the ones that are experiencing a joyous praise the ones that was freed the ones that was in prison the ones that was held captive the ones that was poor the ones that was held down confined oppressed all of these different things it's those people they will rebuild the ancient ruins repairing cities destroyed long ago come on east side of Kansas City they will revive them though they have been deserted for many generations the areas since the great white flight foreigners will be your servants you know what that means that means God is going to bring people from the outside of these areas to begin to help fund what God is doing inside of these areas because all of the sudden God is going to use they to do something that they didn't want to do and now they which is everybody is going to come together and be a unit and doing something that nobody else thought could be done and foreigners will be your servants they will feed your flocks and plow your fields and tend your vineyards that's how I know God is going to bring people in to help fund the mission of everything that God has called us to do as long as we keep planting churches in places that we are not building on somebody else's foundation and then he said I want you to hear this you every single one of you that has become a they that has been beat down has been oppressed has been through hell has been through all of this you will be called priest of the Lord
ministers of our God you will feed on the treasures of the nations and boast in their riches well why are we going to boast in their riches because their riches become our riches because they come and help plow because they come help work the vineyard because they come so we can brag about hey we ain't all got to be rich we just got You gotta know some people that are, amen? Come on, somebody. So if that's you, you can holler at me. We'll go to coffee and we'll talk about the next church we wanna plan, amen? Instead of shame and dishonor, on how many in the house has felt shame? How many has felt dishonor? Come on. Listen, you will enjoy a double share of honor. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land and everlasting joy will be yours. Who's gonna rebuild the ancient ruins, getting beauty for ashes, becoming large oak trees, having joy as praise? The ones who were set free. The ones that were in bondage, the ones that were freed by the hope of the gospel. Paul says, I will not dare speak of the things that Christ has not accomplished through me. He said, what God is doing through me is not about me, it's all about him. It's all about him. May I always remember what God has done in my life and always keep it in the mission of Jesus Christ. God, may we always stay focused as a people
that know you and never forget what you have done and invading areas that no foundation has been built on yet. It's crazy, because I remember, honestly, a time a while back that there was a time where a large number of people had left our church and a couple people honestly had stirred up some tension and the next thing you know, people had been manipulated to believe a narrative that was not true. And the Lord told me very specifically to remain quiet and he would defend us. He told me, hey, I want you to fight this battle like Jericho and I want you to march around these walls silently. And I remember one day, one of the people that wasn't with us anymore wanted to meet up with coffee. And so I did and I remember one of the things they said, they said this, they said, if you could focus as much energy on the people inside your church as you did on the people that are in prison, all of these people want to keep leaving your church and your church would grow. And I thought, aren't we called to seek the lost? Listen, I know every single person in this room is valued. We love you. This is why we do what we do. That doesn't change. But from what I read in scripture, Christ told Peter, upon your confession, I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
I personally want to be a church that the gates of hell will not prevail against, one that the hells can't touch. But if I begin to build it on me and what I can do and what I can offer, then I am building the church. And if I am building the church, then the gates of hell is going to wipe us out. May we always be a church or churches, should I say, that keep the power of the Holy Spirit at the forefront of the mind. Because this will never be about me. May we always plant churches and communities to reach the one far from God. May pastors, campus pastors, begin to rise up from right here within the body of Christ at Reach KC. May care pastors begin to rise up right here at Reach KC so that we can have men and women of God that are able to nurture the body of Christ and comfort the saved and help develop the men and women of God that are in the house. But may we also raise up campus pastors that want to go out and help plant and sow seed into communities and places. I don't want to stop until every single city has heard. Till every broken pastor or person has been shown love. Or until I take the very last breath that I have in my lungs. I don't have retirement within me. May God send us gospel patrons,
ones that have been sent to help support the ministry and missionary work that we have been anointed to take the steps into. May God multiply every single dollar so that we can see hell plundered and heaven populated. May it be in Kansas City and every other city we launch in. Be as it is in heaven. So that we can be what God has called us to be. Let us be mission-minded, not maintenance mourners. The second way is this, multiplying the mission. Multiplying the mission. Romans 15, 22 through 29 says this. In fact, my visit to you is talking. to the Roman church has been delayed so long because I have been preaching in these places. He said it has been delayed so long because I've been preaching in places that no one else has went. That's why I have not been able to get to you but now I have finished my work in these regions and after all of these long years of waiting I am eager to visit you. I am planning to go to Spain which there was no one that had ever went to Spain yet to share the gospel and when I do I will stop off in Rome and after I have enjoyed your fellowship for a little while I'm gonna take up an offering. That's what he said and you can provide for my journey. So Paul was taking up an offering but before I come I must go to Jerusalem to take a gift to the believers there for you see the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have eagerly taken up an offering for the poor among the believers in Jerusalem because if you didn't know this is actually where Paul had been persecuting the Christians and before he gave his life to the Lord and it says that they were glad to do this because they feel they owe a real debt to them since the Gentiles received the spiritual blessings of the good news from the believers in Jerusalem they feel the least they can do in return is to help them financially. It's the least I could
do after all that God has done for me after all that God sending somebody to speak life into me it's the least I could do and as soon as I have delivered this money and completed the good deeds of their this good deed of theirs I will come to see you on my way to Spain and I am sure when I come that Christ will which richly blessed our time together. Now I want you to think about this imagine a hospital in the middle of a city right one where where doctors are skilled nurses are compassionate lives are being saved literally every single day people walk in sick and walk out healed come on somebody they walk out whole but a few miles away there's another building not a hospital but a prison come on and behind those walls there are thousands of men some broken some addicted some angry some forgotten and inside of that prison there is no hospital no doctors walk in the halls no treatment rooms no one bringing healing inside not because they don't need it but because no one has gone no one has been sent now picture this a man sits on his bunk at night staring at the ceiling counting the bricks regret is loud right shame and his heart is heavy hope feels distant he's not asking for comfort he's looking for change but the help that could reach him is happening somewhere else that he can't access Paul basically says hey I've been working here but now I have to go there because Christ hasn't been named there yet Christ said in other words there are places that will never be reached unless someone goes there on purpose one unless the church sends them unless the church raises up people that will go I believe we've been building something very powerful here at reach a place where people find freedom a place where lives are restored a place where Jesus is moving the Holy Spirit is present but then there's the reality that not everyone can come here so we need to take reach to them we need to take why because some people are locked behind bars some people are cut off from all access and if the church doesn't go to them then maybe they never will be able to experience what God is doing here and last Monday I went to South Central Correctional Center right it's in Licking Missouri it's down and in the by the boot hill almost and I got there at 8 a.m. come on somebody how many is
zoned up for church at 8 a.m. exactly y'all was like you lucky I got here at the 10 o'clock service I almost came to the noon you know what I'm saying but eight o'clock okay and when I walked in there was a circle of men and they're praying for the service that was about to happen and they was declaring that God was getting ready to do something and the eagerness and anticipation in that room was so heavy and it's crazy because here in a few minutes the chapel was full of men that most of will never go home Literally, I was sitting there talking to a brother man. He was just so eager and excited about what God was doing there Found out he had a hundred and ten years And I thought my gosh, I can't even wrap my mind around that and while I was there Honestly, I preached what I felt was a great word and I felt like the Lord used it greatly But after I was done preaching my friend that I went in with called me out to the hallway and one of the guys there Asked hey, what would it take? He's one of the main chapel workers. He said hey, what would it take? To get a satellite campus or a live stream service in here weekly. I Said what do you mean? Like a satellite campus remote campus in the gym set up We got all the stuff and in churches literally happening while we're having church right now And he said yes, we want a reach KC live stream campus right here and I said I'm like, how does this even work? Like how do you do this in a prison? and so we exchanged some Conversation and we went and and talked to the chaplain and she was actually looking for a church to do this They've been pursuing this and walking out. I thought what's any different in A live stream in the gym from watching Pando Right because we pay $20,000 a year to be on Pando and they get it and so when we left I asked my friend who took me in what other ministries go into licking to provide church services and What he said floored me because he responded and he said rise up Which is him rise up prison ministries rise up is the only ministry that does a service here and it's the third Sunday at 8 a.m
every month The third Sunday at 8 a.m That's the only church service that we have and my response was no wonder They want to have a satellite campus in their prison because they're literally just hungry for the Word of God and they want to have church And so my next question was will a satellite campus even work here And he's like man to be honest, I don't even know of another prison doing it But Jeff City, they just started and and two nights ago a friend that I have on Facebook Posted this picture from Crossroads This is another maximum security prison That my friend is church happening in the gym You see the setup they got the projector that which is like a $25,000 projector the sound system and all of that and I Myself personally thought I didn't even know if it would happen and this is actually them presenting a recording This isn't even live stream. See like if we had one that was live stream They would literally be seeing themselves on the screen right now, and they'd be like bro. Check that out. That's us In Kansas City like pastors talking about us. Look look. Look you see my hat. I'm standing right there. Yep. Yep. Yeah, that's me I wish they would zoom in on me right there You know and then they would all be bragging about it. And so so I get to thinking man What would it be and first and foremost? I know this because there's ministries that have done that and that right there cost $100,000 They come in and build it. I don't know if you're familiar with prisons, but it's not easy to get stuff into prisons and especially internet Huh, you know and then I begin to think man, you know what what if we was able to do this? What if we was able to actually send people down there to raise up a ministry team that would be able to go in there? And train some of the men that were in there and train them in ministry roles and get them equipped with our growth track Material and train them to facilitate the classes and then God began to show me in my heart men getting saved
Weekly coming down to the altar through a satellite campus in the prison And I got to thinking man Wouldn't that be crazy if when we do the altar call there are men of God that have been in there for years that are trained to come down to the front and when the men Respond when we give the altar call at the end of this service and they come and give their life down to Jesus We can take them back like we do to the plug. We can connect with them We can pray with them and we can get them connected to the growth track And then lives begin to change See launching a Campus in a prison isn't just extending or expanding our church. It's trying or stop trying something new. It's this it's taking the gospel Where it cannot currently go unless we carry it Paul said my visit to you has been delayed so long because I have been preaching in there these places. I've been busy. I've been doing the work that God has called me to do. I've been going to the places that nobody else. May we delay no longer taking the word to a place that is in need of the gospel church. May we keep making this place stronger, which we will, but we can also take what is strong here and take it to the people who are locked up or in remote places that don't get an adequate presentation of the gospel because the gospel isn't just for who we can or who can reach it, but it's for those who we're willing to reach it with and not just in prisons, but other cities, other countries, other places where God wants to share the gospel. May we be people who partner with the mission of Reach KC to carry the gospel to places where they need to hear it. May God raise up men and women of God who advance through partnership. How do we partner? We begin to give with kingdom builders in mind. We begin to do things like never before. Maybe you already give to kingdom builders. Up the ante. Let's see what God can do. What can God do through you if we chose mission over maintenance so we could see the mission multiplied, so we could be multiple places doing multiple things, sending out teams to go launch these places and raise up people? And then the third way is this. Faithfulness matters more than fame. Faithfulness matters more than fame. Come on, everybody say that with me. Faithfulness
matters more. I really just wanted to drink a water. Romans 16, 1 through 16. Bear with me. I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church. See, women can be in ministry. And Centrera, welcome her and the Lord who is one or as one who is worthy of honor and among God's people. Help her in whatever she needs, for she has been a help to many and especially to me. Giving my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in the ministry of Christ Jesus. In fact, they once risked their lives for me. Come on, God, send me some people like that. I am thankful to them and so are all of the Gentile churches. Also give my greetings to the church that meets in their home. Greet my dear friend, Appentus, and he was the first person from the province of Asia to become a follower of Jesus. Come on, give my greetings to Mary, who has worked so hard for your benefit. Greet, see, you just got to say these names with confidence and just act like you're speaking in tongues, you know what I'm saying? Andronicus and Juna, you know, my fellow Jews who were prisoners with me. They are highly respected among the apostles and became followers of Christ before I did. Greet, and my dear friend in the Lord. Greet, I ain't gonna say what that word reminds me of, your bannis. Sanctify me, Lord. Our co-worker in Christ and my dear friend, Statius. We'll just say Stash, like Tuck. Stash. Greet, Appellus, a good man whom Christ approves, and give my greetings to the believers from the household of Aristobulus, and greet Herodian, my fellow Jew. Greet the Lord's people from the household of Narcotic Synonymous, from the household of N.A. Give my greetings, give my greetings to Tryphena and Tryphosa. Could you imagine having some of these names? The Lord's workers, and dear Persis, who worked so hard for the Lord. Greet Rufus, it's my dog. Come on, Rufus. Everybody got a Rufus. Whom the Lord picked out to be his very own from Petland, and also, also his dear mother, who has been a mother to me. Okay, so he wasn't a dog. He wasn't a dog. Give my greetings to Assyriacus, Flon, Hermes. Y'all are so corrupt, and I have led you there. Petroibus, Hermes, and the brothers and sisters who met with them, give my greetings to Philolopousus, and Julia, and Nerys, and her sister, and the Olympics, and all of the believers who meet with them, and greet each other with a sacred kiss.
Don't y'all be doing that stuff. All the churches of Christ send you their greetings. Now, I know you're wondering, how the heck is this his final point? How many times do we typically jump over genealogies and farewells in Scripture? Because it's so easy to tune out, name after name, people you don't recognize, stories you don't know. It's so tempting to think, why does this even matter? But then imagine this, what if one of those names was your mom? What if one of those names was your best friend or somebody that you led to Jesus? Suddenly, all of the sudden, you lean in, right? Because names matter when there's a story attached. That's what Romans 16 is, it's not random, it's a roll call of faithfulness. Phoebe, Priscilla, Aquila, Adronicus, Juna, literally dozens of names, not famous names, not platform names, but people who showed up. People who served, people who sacrificed, people who stayed faithful, people who were sacrificed, stayed faithful, stayed mission minded, and Paul didn't skip over them, he actually honored them. Because he's seen something there, because heaven doesn't measure impact the way that we do. See, we celebrate platforms, but God records faithfulness. Most of those names, we don't even know their full story, but God does, right? But God does, because he looks at faithfulness. Hear me church, you may not be known on earth, but your name is known in heaven. You may not be known here. One day, there is going to be another roll call, not of celebrities, not of influencers, but of people who have served when no one noticed. People who gave it all when it cost them sacrificially. People that stayed when it was hard, said yes to God when it was tough, and the question is, when your life is read, what will be said about your name? Did you know that God builds his kingdom through ordinary people who say yes? You don't need a stage to make a difference. Let me say that. God builds his kingdom through ordinary people. He don't need a stage to do something significant through you. This passage proves heaven celebrates names we've never even heard of. But what if God was calling you today? Calling you to take a step of faith.
Faith to believe God for more in your life. Maybe your name isn't one that's going to go viral. Maybe your name isn't one that's going to highlight a platform. Maybe you'll never have a microphone behind you. But what if heaven knew your name because of what you've done for the kingdom behind the scenes, behind the areas that nobody gets to see? Maybe you could give above and beyond in greater capacities. What if you could say, hey, I helped launch a church campus in a remote prison, and lives are being added to the kingdom because of my faithfulness and my giving. What if you could say, hey, I want to step up and serve in ways that I've never served before. Maybe I want to serve in the kids area. Maybe I want to serve. Maybe you aren't called to be a leader. But did you know it takes above and beyond? 60 to 75 people to make church happen on a Sunday and we're going to a lot bigger building we're launching new teams we're having new things happen and so it's gonna take probably double that in order to be able to happen what if what if your name was written down like one of these one of the people that has a story that most don't know but reach does but reach does because when I write a book I can write down all of those names of the people that helped hey would you send Priscilla and Aquila would you let them know that I appreciate them Uranus would you let him know come on everybody's got one of those technically whatever that name was I don't even remember it was something like your Arabis or is your right is something Uranus Uranus there we go we'll say that but what if what if your name was written in the land book of life what if God is speaking to you right now and saying hey you may think that you're not valued but you are you are you you could carry a vision you can carry a mission you can carry a purpose and God has assigned it to you right now may we choose faithfulness over fame may we see the mission multiplied and may we choose mission over maintenance and we stay connected to the local church so that God can do something in and through our lives in Jesus name if I could have everybody stand with me for just a moment
here's just in a second is what I want to do is I know there are some men and women of God there are some men and women in the house today that that may not know God personally nobody moved nobody moved nobody moved nobody moved there's nothing more important than this moment right now you didn't come to just get what I preached we came so people could get saved and so if you are in the room right now if you're in the house and and and and you just feel God tugging on your heart doing something in your life if that's you and and maybe you say hey I've never had a personal relationship with God but I want to have one today and man maybe you've had a personal relationship with God but but you want to you you've wandered away from the faith and you came back today and you say man I want to have that relationship I want to go all in hey if that's you can I just get you to slip up your hand with me real quick come on if that's you and you want to commit today would you say hey I'm willing to make that decision hey I'm willing to make that move hey I'm willing to assign my name in that book even if it doesn't mean any platform or anything hey if that's you could I get you to step out right over here with me could you guys get you come on just slide out of your seat there's about six people come on come on down come on we'll wait for you if that's you come on down right here come on come on come on come on there's about five or six come on let's celebrate let's celebrate let's make it let's make it something that it should be about come on if that's you let's go we just want to pray with you we want to get you some information to get signed up for a growth group get signed up for growth track and just get connected to the church come on somebody let's go let's go let's celebrate let's celebrate let's celebrate let's celebrate let's celebrate let's celebrate come on church let's celebrate come on let's worship come on let's worship through a church I saw I served you Lord, that's what I done, percept that I served you Lord.
