Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery Part 1 | Road Trip | Pastor Tim Payne
There's no other name like His name. The Bible says there's no other name under heaven. No other name we've been given. And then it says it's by that name we must be saved. Have you been born again? Have you accepted the power of that name? Do you know what that name's all about? And in the future, there will be a moment where every knee will bow. That means there will not be, of everyone that has ever lived, there will not be one person standing. Every knee. Every atheist will bow that day. Every agnostic will bow that day. Every mocker will bow that day. Every persecutor of Jesus and those who follow, they will bow their knee that day. And there will not be one tongue that gets to argue back. Every tongue will confess. There won't be one person in the crowd disputing, doubting. Everybody be knowing that He, Jesus, is King of Kings, and He is Lord of Lords to the glory of the Father. Come on, put your hands together. It's at the name of Jesus, your life turns around. Your breakthrough happens. Your miracle breaks forth. That's at the name of Jesus. That's why when we pray, don't just say, Amen. You even have the best part. You get to your prayer is in Jesus' name. Why? Because Jesus got all authority.
And when you say in Jesus' name, the devil's scamper, hell shudders. The devil, let's try that. The devil gets nervous because he knows who Jesus is. And so I'm telling you, it's Jesus for my family. It's Jesus for my friends. It's Jesus in the morning time. It's Jesus at noontime. I need Jesus at the evening when the sun goes down. There's power in the name of Jesus. I'm telling you, Jesus showed up and the demons knew who He was and who He is. So whatever you're facing, man, you should say the name Jesus. It's all you need. I'm thankful for that name. I don't take that name for granted. I read a story this week. You'll be seated in just a minute. But I read a story. I see some of y'all just heard, just be seated. I read the story this week, 2015, ISIS were beheading believers to the Middle East. And they grabbed one person by accident. He was an atheist. They asked him, all these men, if they were Christian. When they came to him, he said, I'm not a Christian, you got the wrong guy. ISIS told him all this 2015, 11 years ago, they told him, they said, if all you will denounce and reject Jesus, you'll live. And one by one by one, the next one and the next one, the next one said, I would not recant the name Jesus. When they came to this guy, the unbeliever, they said, are you ready? And he said, their God is my God. They beheaded him.
And he went from being an atheist to seeing Jesus face to face. It's at the name of Jesus, a man said, I'll not deny who Jesus is. How could I? That someone, even an atheist, being that close, that close to death, in the face of death, would feel the power of their relationship with Jesus that would make them, make him say their God is my God. Isn't that something? I want you to understand something. We're not just playing games here. There is power in the name of Jesus. Let the church say amen. You guys can be seated. We've been in a series, family road trip. We've been tripping. together road tripping together and This is week seven and I'm so glad that you guys are here. We were packed out last gathering. I See an empty seat. It is just crazy and What God is doing? I'm so thankful Love this series. We're going through the Ten Commandments and we've covered some miles together We started with the first and today we'll be on the seventh The seventh commandment last week a little recap if you missed it, but last week we talked about Bible says thou shalt not Kill in other words don't murder Grace and truth is so important for grace without truth is a cult Truth without grace is a religion You need grace and then truth. That's how Jesus operated. He would give someone grace Then he'd give them truth So I want to have both today, but I pray for the ladies that stood around the governor of, Massachusetts
Massachusetts the governor signed off saying Massachusetts is now legal for abortion up to the very second of birth Last week we talked about that shall not murder and I just want to say this if you're here and you've had an abortion It's shame off you. That's the grace. But here's the truth is murder you've taken another life and God condemns that Now I want to condemn that too. I won't be known for what I'm for But you know what there's some things to be known that you're against it and I Pray in grace for those women to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ Because they don't want to meet Jesus on Judgment Day just like we don't want to meet Jesus on Judgment Day if you're not a son or a daughter to sign that and Who knows how many lives will be murdered? Don't let your slice Your favorite news station give you your theology don't let your political party Define your theology We ought to look through the lens of the Bible. Are you with me? That's right, and it matters, you know, you're talking about political seven. I'm talking about real stuff. I'm talking about life stuff and Evil prevails when good men do nothing and you know what that's the tenth state that did it You know what? We ought to pray. You're not a break our hearts You know how to bend our knees put tears in our eyes as we say God forgive us for murdering millions and God Helped prevent us from other states jumping on board God That's if you don't know what to pray about that would be a great thing to start praying about today Jesus said you've heard it said thou shalt not murder, but I say to you whoever is angry Oh Jesus connected murder and anger by the way That's how you murder someone is you allow anger to take over to a place where you lose control And you do the unthinkable today. We're gonna talk about thou shalt not commit adultery
It's a real hard topic We're gonna talk about it today and At the end today, we're gonna have an altar call an Invitation just like we always do and I just want to speak the the obvious The obvious is that the devil gonna work overtime to keep your butt right in front of your seat And I also want to state the obvious Jesus can forgive anyone he can cleanse anybody and whether it's adultery or sexual sin We're gonna talk about it all today We're gonna talk about how Jesus connected adultery with lust Whatever it is. I'm gonna ask you ahead of time last gathering, you know, you could work out you get tired, but it's last set Someone finish it for me best That's it last rep Best rep. There we go. Let's go a 50% baby. You've been 500 you good I Think the best for last let's let this be the best gathering today in our response to the Spirit of God Are you with me? Come on y'all got to sleep in y'all got caffeinated. Come on. I'm expecting something today Let God have his way today. Don't stay in a place because you're scared What are people gonna think that keeps more Christians paralyzed than anything and I've allowed it to do it to me No, no, no, the Bible says if we confess our faults one to another you'll be healed But don't don't worry about confessing your fault one to another If you haven't first started confessing your fault to God start writing there, are you with me? And I'm telling you, if you last night committed adultery, Jesus can forgive you. And this is the perfect place for imperfect people. This is Momentum Church, the perfect place for imperfect people. None of us perfect. God wants all of us to be forgiven, but that's if you receive his forgiveness. So we always invite people to it, but we're going to talk about adultery today. In Exodus chapter 20 and Deuteronomy chapter 5, it says the same words, verse the 10 commandments and it being repeated, it says, thou shall not commit adultery. And we live in a world that celebrates adultery. We live in a world that celebrates sexual sin. We live in a world, the Bible says that the devil, he is the prince and power of the air. He's, he's doing everything he can do because he knows his time is short.
Are you with me? But he doesn't have all authority, Jesus does. And so we live in a culture where you can't, it's hard to go to a movie where there's not some type of sexual sin. It's hard to turn on Netflix and not watch a good show. That would be great if it didn't have a motive behind it, pushing some type of sexual sin. And here's what happens. What happens is we just think it's normal. And that's what the devil wants. The devil wants you to think it's just normal. Everybody's doing it. Everybody's doing it. Everybody's doing it right. And the truth is no, not everyone's doing it, but the devil wants everyone to fall into the sin. And if David, who is a man after God's own, that's what God said about David. God declared David as a man. Hello. Let's just start there. If you're a man, that's cool. When God says you a man, a man after God's own heart. And so David fell into the sin. And there's a pattern where if we're not careful, anybody in this room can fall into the same sin. So in other words, the first step to falling into adultery is to think I never will. I never cheat on my wife. I never cheat on my husband. Our marriage would never go through that. Like, no, we're good. You know, whether it happened before or not, that's the first step is to think like the devil doesn't have his scope on you. And the more of a threat you are against the enemy, the more he wants to take you out. So as a deer hunter, I know what it is to watch a deer through the scope. I know what it is to wait for the right shot. The kill shot. I know what it is to wait till that deer turns broadside. That's like now we got a shot and the devil will wait years. I would tell you the devil wait decades to take one shot. The kill shot. Don't think you're immune old. Don't think you're young. Newlyweds honeymoon. Don't think for a second being a pastor. If I've learned everything, anything I've learned that right now in the church, what I'm going to talk about today is one of the biggest sins. That's one of the greatest sins. And, and here's the cool thing. It's not greater than the blood of Jesus. It's not greater. So we're going to go to Matthew now, Matthew chapter five, part of the beatitudes sermon on the mouth. Jesus is, is, uh, he's speaking and Matthew is recording. He's letting us know what Jesus says. And we know the old Testament says thou shall not commit adultery. But Matthew go to Matthew. We'll come back to Proverbs. Go to Matthew chapter five. Jesus said this, you've heard the commandment that says you must not commit adultery. But I say to you, see, grace doesn't lower the bar. Grace raises the bar. So I've heard people
before who were like, well, man, I, we live under grace. You're right. I'm thankful for you. But grace doesn't lower it raises. Jesus said, yeah, you heard don't commit adultery. But I say to you, if a man looks at a woman and lust after her in his own heart, he's already committed adultery with her. What? You know what that means? Every man in here, you commit adultery. You know what that means? Probably every one of us in here at some point, we committed adultery at least once, if not way more. And what Jesus was saying is, Hey, yeah, you've heard it said, that's right. That's one of the 10 commandments. But I'm telling you, if you even look and you lust, I've done that. Anyone done that? Anyone want to be honest? Just let the preacher. Raise his hand, I got you. All right, you're not my favorite crowd, and I'm going back to that. We've all done that. If you're a man, and you're breathing, you see a beautiful woman, you recognize it. Women don't think for a second, see, women don't think they're beautiful sometimes. And guys are like, if she only knew how beautiful she was, I'd write a country song about that. She don't know she beautiful. There's a lot of truth to that. And you know what, here's the real truth, there's not a man where a beautiful woman don't walk in the room, and the man doesn't know a beautiful woman walking in the room. God wired us to be attracted to beauty. Women, God made you beautiful. Both are a gift, and the devil always tries to pervert what God creates. It's not wrong to look at a woman,
they're beautiful women, I see right now. You're here today, let me tell you something. Not wrong, not a sin to be beautiful, God made you. You're God's masterpiece. Ladies, it's wrong to look at a beautiful woman and then begin to lust in your heart. That's a bad pattern. And Jesus says, Matthew quotes him, he said, man, listen, if your right eye can't stop looking, gouge it out, it'd be better for you to gouge your own eye out than for you to allow your eye to take your tail to hell. Because you can't stop looking and lusting. And I'll also be honest, you go to the gym, you work out, I work out. You work out, and there are a lot of beautiful women in the gym, and it seems like they're wearing less and less and less. It seems like you're getting harder, harder, harder to not look, look, look, look, and not lust, lust, lust. One time I had a woman, I was working out with my friend, the lady got right in front of us, I can't say exactly what she said, we in church, but she started working out right in front of us and she was doing these, you know, and she's like, hey, if you don't want this, you probably ought to move because I'm gonna put this in your face type of thing. That was spoken to me. Yeah, that is not the time to start praying, Lord, what's your will?
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy will. No, no, no, no, you know what God's will is. You know what God's will is, and I tell you as a man, if I look at her doing this right here, right in front of my face, I'm going to lust. That's the other truth, because I'm a man. So I can't put myself in that, well, pastor, what do you do when you just turn and all of a sudden, well, what you do is you bounce your eyes. That first one, that wasn't sin, I didn't know that was right there. But I turn around, I know it's right there. I start staring at it, I know it's right there. I start thinking about it. So Jesus says, I'm gonna give you such an extreme, you're gonna think I'm crazy, but if you think I'm crazy, let me tell you how crazy hell is. It'd be better you cut off your strong arm. The original language says your right hand. It'd be better for you to cut off your right hand, but we got some lefties in the house. My wife's a lefty, any other lefties? Any lefties here? All right, I see, I see, all right, we got some lefties here. So the NLT reads, cut off your strongest hand, right? It'd be better for you to cut it off, to throw it away and to go through life with only one hand, than to allow that hand that keeps reaching for things you shouldn't be reaching for,
keep touching things you shouldn't be touching, to allow that addiction to take your tail. To hell. Jesus said don't do it. Proverbs, look at what Proverbs says. Proverbs says this, there's a wise man giving us wise words, Proverbs 6, 32 through 35. But the man who commits adultery is another fool. Why? For he destroys himself. He will be wounded and disgraced. His shame will never be erased. And you thought it was just Pastor Tim rhyming sometimes. He's a good God. He will be wounded and disgraced. His shame will never be erased. So why would God say something like, doesn't God know? Yeah, God created sex. God made everything about sex. He's a good God. How many are thankful for the goodness of God? I'm thankful for the goodness of God. It's okay. It's okay to appreciate the goodness of God. God made sex. Sex doesn't make God turn red. He doesn't blush. He's like, oh, let's not talk about it. It doesn't get awkward.
He designed it, but he designed it for marriage. Between one man and one wife for one lifetime. That was God's plan. It's still God's plan. So the Bible says, if you commit adultery, you're gonna destroy yourself. How many people here wanna destroy yourself? None of us. So what would a good God who loves us in a perfect way, what would he tell us to stay away from? He would say, do not commit adultery. Why? Because he don't want you to destroy yourself. He does not want you to be wounded. He doesn't want you to be disgraced. He doesn't want the shame to shout in your face day after day, month after month, year after year. He don't want shame to hover over you. He doesn't want that for you. So that's why a good, loving God would say, stay away. Don't allow culture to push you to the edge. Cause in music, in some podcasts, in a lot of books out there, right? There's some books you can read, ladies. And it's like, all of a sudden you're in this fantasy world and then oops, of course. Because when you get on the edge, you don't have any margin and all the devil's gotta do is go, and you fall off. So give yourself margin.
Do not commit adultery. And then Jesus says, but I'm gonna raise it. I'm gonna connect adultery with lust. James one, let no man say, James chapter one, let no man say when he is tempted, I'm tempted to God. God did it. Isn't that what Adam did? Right? Adam's in the garden. They sin, they hid. God comes looking for Adam. Adam, where are you? He didn't say Adam and Eve. He was talking to the spiritual leader of his house. He said, Adam, where are you? Not where are y'all? He's like, I'm talking to the leader. Cause the leader didn't speak up. The leader was stout. In the Hebrew language, it says Adam was shoulder to shoulder with Eve. And when the devil tempted her, she was tricked. The Bible says she was deceived. He knew what was happening and he choked. And men have been choking ever since. So the devil, the sin, he hides, where are you? And then he's like, yeah, I was hiding cause I was naked. And God said, who told you you're naked? Did you eat the fruit I told you not to? And what does Adam say?
Here's his defining moment. God, it's the woman that you gave me. In that one sentence, he blamed Eve and God. Sin will make you look stupid. I can just see Eve like, really? I took one bite, you ate the rest of it. And a good God would tell us death is gonna follow. James one, let no man say when he's tempted, I'm tempted to God. For God cannot be tempted with evil and neither does God tempt anyone. But every person is tempted when they're drawn away of their own lust and enticed. Then when lust conceives, it brings forth sin and sin when it is finished brings forth death or the message says has a baby, produces a baby. The pattern is LSD, it was a bad drug, it's a bad drag. Lust, sin, and then death. Think about David. David goes out on a rooftop. I don't know if Bathsheba took a bath at 10 o'clock every morning, I don't know. I don't know if he walked out on purpose because he knew she's gonna be naked and she was beautiful or if he just walked out to look over Jerusalem and there she happened to be. But what I do know is he looked and it wasn't the first look that got him. It was a lingering look. It was the look long enough to allow lust
to get in his heart and then he allowed that lust to say, hey, I want her, but she's married, I don't care. This on the down low, man, get her to me and take care of her husband. Her husband's your friend. You know him, you love him. He's protected you for years. I know, he's in my way, kill him. Sin will take you further than you wanna go. It'll keep you longer than you wanna stay. It'll cost you more than you're willing to pay and it cost him and we see that pattern. We see lust, we see sin, we see death. For she gets pregnant, has a baby and then the baby dies and David fasts and prays and he weeps. God, please don't kill the baby. It was my fault, I did it. But let me tell you something. We get to choose our sin, but we don't get to choose our consequences. So a loving God would say, don't commit adultery because it's gonna leave you wounded. You know what that does to marriages? You know what it does to a spouse? You know what it does to children? You know what it does to family? And the devil, why do you think he's pushing culture so hard to bait you to it? It's for the kill shot. says you better be careful it says this it says his shame will never be erased for the woman's jealous husband will be furious and
He will show no mercy When he takes revenge and he will accept no compensation nor be satisfied with a payoff of any size Paul writes the church in Corinth. They had a lot of sexual sin It's kind of weird, but I'm thankful for the Bible because the Bible just raw and real there's some things in the Bible That's a beautiful verse. There's some verses where it's like that's brutal And then some of it you like that's just brutal like I see the I see the good I see the uh There's a raw and the real God is a real God This church they were having sex like crazy Swinging there are people Sleeping with their mother-in-law's by the way the Old Testament the law talked about these kind of things Gave them a standard to live by So this is the church sexual sin was on the rise sexual sin Was defining the hour and it is to this context to which the Apostle Paul writes a letter and he's he's bringing truth Before their very eyes look what he says don't you realize this first Corinthians 6 we're gonna read 9 through 20 Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit? the kingdom of God Don't fool yourselves those who indulge in sexual sin or Worship or who worship idols That was a ten commandment or commit adultery That's a ten commandment not to do that or are male prostitutes or practice homosexuality or our thieves or Or Greedy people or drunkards or are abusive or
cheat people None of these will inherit the kingdom of God Some of you now there's a that was brutal. Here's a beautiful some of you were once like that Paul says somebody some of you that's who you used to be and he's reminding them. That's who you used to be That's not who you are today. Why keep reading look at the verse you were cleansed You were made holy You were made right with God by going to church Nope, you're made right with God by being a goody two-shoe Nope, you're made right with God by your baptism or catechism Nope, you were made right with God because of your denomination. Nope. You were made, right? With God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God Let me give you a little doctrine real quick Okay This is that last phrase has two things there for Romans 10 13 Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved you hear it every week in the invitation Romans 10 13 whoever will call on the name of the Lord, which is Jesus will be saved That's called salvation, but then notice this it says you were made right by God with God By calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God one is salvation You get Jesus. He saves us and then we get the Holy Spirit of salvation And it's the Spirit of God that begins to work on us from the inside out To make us more like Jesus that's called sanctification So because I've I can't be sanctified if I haven't been saved But because I have been saved God's will for my life is to be in the sanctification process Are you with me? And he said you say I'm allowed to do anything. These were Christians. We're under grace We can do anything you say I'm allowed to do anything, but not everything is good for you. I Mean will you give a skateboard to a two-year-old? and Even though I'm allowed to do anything. I must not be come a slave to anything I love that you say food was made for the stomach and the stomach for food This is true, but someday God will do away with both of them. I hope that's a long time from now
But you can't say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality You can't say that they were made for the Lord and the Lord watches and the Lord cares For our bodies, but I'm young pastor. I'm a college student and the Lord Cares about our bodies. Well, I've been single a long time and the Lord cares about our bodies well You know, it's not much happening in this marriage, but the Lord cares about our bodies well, they gained a hundred pounds, but The Lord cares about our bodies and God will raise us from the dead By his power just as he raised the Lord Jesus from the dead Don't you realize that your bodies are actually Paul says parts of christ Should a man take his body which is part of christ and join it to a prostitute never And don't you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute he becomes one body with her For the scriptures say the two are united into one But the person who is joined to the Lord is one Spirit with him. So here it is run What does it say run from sexual sin? Sin Joseph is tempted potiphar is over the army Potiphar is right under pharaoh pharaoh most powerful man in the universe in this time You don't get to be number two and not have a smoking hot wife Potiphar's wife was smoking hot And every day joseph who his brothers lied to their father Sold into slavery they cheated him But god what the enemy meant for evil god used it for good joseph is scrubbing floors in potiphar's house and potiphar's smoking hot wife came to him day after day after day, and she's like Hey, baby He's like Hey, baby next day. Hey, I was thinking next day day after day after day
She tempted him day after day after day. She teased him day after day. She let him know Very clear how bad she wanted to sleep with him To the point that her lust consumed her and the bible says she grabbed him and said sleep with me now And here's here's the crazy thing. The crazy thing is what he said because he could have said Well, it kind of feels like payback for all the wrong i've been through my lucky day He could have said like my dad will never know they're in another country my brothers Maybe this is maybe this is what I deserve because they threw me in the pit and sold me into slavery I've been scrubbing floors. Maybe maybe maybe I I kind of feel peace about it. He could have said all these things, but you know what he said? He looked at her beautiful woman smoking hot woman who grabbed him and in her clutches He said I cannot do this terrible thing against the lord That's the fear of the lord speaking right there and the fear of the lord is still the beginning of wisdom but fools refused knowledge and instruction and he said I can't do this great sin against who God because even though daddy wasn't looking the eyes of the lord are in every place beholding the evil and the good he knew god Was watching and he's like I cannot do this But the one mistake he made he ran away She is holding on and he ran out of his coat and she was left with his coat He should have run back said i'm gonna take my coat too. Thank you very much And took off the bible says run from sexual sin. No other sin No, clearly affects the body as this one does why for sexual immorality is a sin against your own body And don't you realize that your body is the temple of the holy spirit who lives in you who was given to you? What's the next two words? by god You don't belong to yourself. It's my body Not if you've been bought Not if you've been blood bought Can't use that line You do not belong to yourself You belong to god god bought you with a high price. So you must honor god with
your body God's real clear about this. The bible says in hebrews god will not Look past our sin When it comes to this so it's god's plan god made a sexual creature god plan is is a biblical marriage And god's plan is that the two become one And as you fall in love god wants you to stay in love, but that takes a lot of someone say work It takes a lot of intentionality I truly believe the honeymoon doesn't have to be over I truly believe the Cereal gets stale when it's not closed properly the bread Doesn't last as long as it should when it's not put up properly. Are you with me? The chips get stale when they just leave the bag open But if you're intentional And you say you know what? No, no, no, we're gonna prolong this thing That's god's will God's will is not against you being sexually fulfilled. He made you to want that It's just for you to receive that within the bounds of biblical marriage. This is God speaking. It's not Pastor Tim's words. It's not Momentum's words. These are the words of God, and God doesn't change about this. Even in 2026, where the devil says everybody doing it, everybody's sleeping around, and I'm a college student, and come on, is this still expected of me? Let me tell you something. God is still God, and he don't apologize for it.
And God has his ways, not because he's against you, but because he's for you. So what would a loving God, who don't want you to get STDs and what goes with it, what would he say? What would a loving God say so you didn't get drawn away of your own lust? Lust's a powerful thing. I was in middle school, first time I saw a naked woman. She was in a magazine. I had no clue. Christian school, Christian gym, putting on Christian shorts. They preach modesty, but the shorts were up to here for the guys. The girls were long, but the guys, our butt cheeks were flapping all the way. I'm like, what is up with this? I'm in the locker room. That's the truth, too. I'm in the locker room, and my buddy, we're in eighth grade, and he's like, hey, man, I wanna show you something. I'm thinking baseball cards, because that's what we always talked about. And he got a Playboy, and he put it right in front of my face and I'll never forget that. And so many people, it's not just men anymore. It's not just young people anymore. You can go back to the moment
that the devil put his hook in you. He'd been reeling you in like a fish that knows it's getting ready to be thrown in the icebox. And here's what I wanna say. It's not shame on you, it's shame off you. The power of the blood of Jesus can forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. And the same power, the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, he can break every chain, he can break every addiction, and it may be instantaneously, and it might not be. You might have to humble yourself and go to another man of God and say, I'm struggling here. And men, I'm not spitting in your face. 2026 is really hard. Almost seems impossible sometimes. But you know what? The same God, the same Bible, he says he'll always make a way to escape. No temptation is taking you. That which is common to man, that God will always give us an exit. But it's when we linger like David did and keep that the lust fills the heart and it'll lead to sin, and sin will always cause death. It did for David, and it'll do it for you. So maybe you're here and pornography owns you. Let's get victory today. And you know where victory starts? With confession.
Whoever confesses and forsakes. You'll never forsake it if you don't confess it. It's hard to stop doing something that you haven't admitted is a problem. Adultery don't start in the bed. It starts in the head. It don't start in the bed. Adultery starts in the head. And so we gotta say, Lord, we need your help here. But the temptation will be in a minute when we have a come forward invitation for you to be like, just as I am. I'm staying right here. I'm not gonna go forward. What would people think? And the truth is, probably 80% of this crowd, we oughta be on our knees begging God for help or thanking him for the protection and asking for more. And this ain't the church, like, who came for, who is that, okay, write that name down, okay. They must be a sinner. We don't like hypocrites around here. They don't last long. They don't last long. Someone came a couple weeks ago and left when I got up to speak, because I had a hat on. You do some things intentional just to run the hypocrites off. I was good preaching right there. You just do some things intentional.
There's some things I do intentionally. Yeah, that's right. Those are people that they've been rescued by grace that were clapping. I love that. It'll take you to a bad place. You don't have to go that way. I'm through. I wanna read something. I wanna tell you something. There's two reasons for marital conflict. Next week, I wanna help you. Next week, we're gonna talk about how to marriage-proof your marriage, affair-proof your marriage. I never understood how people, how does adultery happen. As a young preacher, I didn't understand it. I was very naive. And then the more I helped people, loved people through it, the more I realized that it's not just about marriage. I realized adultery is actually super easy to happen. And that's why it happens so much. It's like really easy. It's not right. It's just super easy. Here's why. And here's why you gotta. They come back next week. There are 10 emotional needs.
And women think men are these five, and men think women are these five, and the truth is they're totally different. Women don't think like men. How many of y'all know this to be true? Men don't think like women. How many know this to be true? And so you know what happens? You have a love bank, or a love tank, whatever you want to call it, and when it hits empty, it's just easy. It's kind of like when you've ever been so tired, no matter what it was, you couldn't keep, you couldn't, there were 10 minutes where you forced your eyes to stay open, but then you're like, I've hit a wall, I'm done. Anybody know what that's like? When your love bank hits empty, you're just so weak, and the devil's like. That's how adultery happens. There's two reasons for marriage conflict. Write this down, this'll help you. Two reasons for marital conflict. Number one, couples fail to make each other happy. Couples fail to make each other happy. Is it not my job to make them happy? Yeah, it is, because you promised at the altar for better. For better, you said for better. That means I'm going to be intentional. I'm going to be with you.
I'm going to serve you, right? I'm for you, right? It was easy when we dated, but if you just let it drift, it'll drift real far away and be really hard to do it. Couples fail to make each other happy. They get frustrated because their needs are not being met. This is a failure to care. So when someone in a marriage does not feel like they're being cared for, they are wide open to take an easy step, which is adultery. Number two, couples make each other unhappy. This is coming from a Christian psychologist and counselor who met with so many thousands of couples through the years and he said, all of a sudden I understand it. You're either failing to make each other happy or you're on purpose making each other unhappy. The first one is because you're not intentional. The second one is because you got resentment. You owe me. I got anger, I got bitterness, you haven't. And so now the way I talk to you, of course it's going to be that tone because you don't deserve what we used to have. You've ignored me so much. That's where people get. They make each other unhappy. So now they're frustrated because they're deliberately hurting each other. This is where name calling, abuse, shame, it's a failure to protect.
None of us got in marriage, right, to be selfish. Just our selfish nature tends to drift that way. I want to read this and we're going to pray. Someone I've ministered to before penned these words. It's real and it's raw and I hope it reaches you. Entitled, Lately, I've been grieving what I don't have and what seems to be in reality, what I never will have. Deep love, I've become aware of the reality that we are too busy, too busy for each other, too busy to be intentional with each other. So, and I mean so many things seem to be so important except for taking care of each other and our emotional needs. Deep down inside, honestly, I feel the loneliest I've ever felt in my marriage. By the way, this is someone I've been married for a minute. I feel uncared for and unseen. You know, you can be married and be so lonely. Feel like you're sleeping with a ghost, being ghosted because the drift is so real. Where has the love gone and why can't we communicate? I don't feel love, just duty. Checkoffs, but not checkups. Grind, but not gain. Starving for affection, only to watch others get it. Starving for attention, only to watch others receive it. This last year, I've been the most miserable and we can't even talk about it without one of us or both of us becoming furious, hateful, resentful. And whenever I try to communicate, it only frustrates her.
She becomes a victim, feels unprotected and attacked. Then the worst thing happens. She shuts down. That was his side. There's always two sides, and then there's the truth. But I wonder today if this is you. I wonder if you're right here on the edge. And a loving God would say to you today, don't wound yourself. Don't bring shame that will last your lifetime. I wonder if you'd receive that today. There are many different people here. There are people here, like the truth is, you have a great marriage if you're married. You have a great marriage, and the devil will tempt you if he's not tempting you or hasn't tempted you. Truth number one. Truth number two, married couple, and someone has cheated. Couple number three, maybe both cheated, because someone cheated, and then someone cheated back. Couple number four, that was in the past, but God. God not only spared their marriage, but it's the best it ever was. So there are people here today married, but there are people here that are single. And lust is consuming you. That's exactly what the enemy wants. I just say to you, man, give it to God today. Start with saying, I need help. In Alaska, timber wolves were taking over. They were killing animals, attacking people. So the people of the village took these large knives, dipped it in animals' blood, froze it, dipped it, froze it, dipped it, froze it, dipped it, froze it. They put it in the frozen tundra, and these timber wolves would smell it, miles off, blood.
They would come and they would lick the blade, the frozen blade, which would heat the blood. They would taste the blood. They'd want more of the blood, lust, sin, death. And the more they licked, it was eventually, the easier it was to get fresh, hot blood. And this is how they killed the timber wolves, with their own appetite. They didn't do it. Jacob sold Esau lentil soup, and Esau was so hungry, he gave the blessing of being the firstborn away. Like if it was like stew, if it was like broccoli and cheese, panera bread, water and lentils, and Esau said, I don't care. This means nothing. I'm going to die. My appetite is controlling me. I'm so hungry. Give me this soup. You can have my stupid birthright. And he ate the bowl, and he probably was satisfied, but the next day he was hungry. Don't lose what you have, have what you, excuse me, don't lose what you have. It's about wanting, let me say it like this, it's really about wanting what you have, not wishing you had something different. And wherever you are, God can heal you. He can forgive you. And my God, our God can restore you. So I want you to stand to your feet, would you, as we close out today. Hard subject. I'm going to talk about next week, real practical tips, 10 emotional needs. Men, you better pay attention to them. I'm talking about your needs. And men, you better pay attention to her needs. Ladies, you better pay attention to your needs and his needs.
And when we do that, all of a sudden we got something special. I'm going to ask the prayer team to come forward. I'm going to ask Tyler, Pastor Tyler, to lead us in a song here as the band comes. And I'm going to ask you to just swallow your pride, step out, and pray. I believe there ought to be couples down here. You're great, but your prayer be like, God protect us. Maybe there's couples down here, grandparents or parents down here. You're praying for your kids. Keep them pure Lord. Maybe you're here in the shackles and the shame that's been caused by pornography needs to fall off today. Let's like, why not? Why not? Cause you confess it every time you feel so guilty every time. And it eats at you and eats at you. Let's just start with victory today. You with me? It may be a process, but he'll walk with you every step. Maybe you're here and someone cheated on you and you are shattered and you are reeling and you are broken. Can I tell you something? God sees you and he loves you. And you don't let the fact that maybe they didn't value you for sure, like they should have, be the value on you, because you are valuable. Maybe you're the person that cheated and you need to come and you need to humble yourself. You need God to forgive you and God to restore it. And it doesn't happen in an instant.
It gonna take time with people. God will forgive you in a second, but with people, it takes time. So I don't know how God spoke to you today. It's a hard subject. You know, I'd like to be talking on encouragement today, but it's a real subject and it's consuming the church from the inside out. So let's deal with it, huh? Let's sing together. I want you to come. And then I'm gonna give you at the end an opportunity if you're not a believer to invite Christ into your life. Nothing but the blood of Jesus. If you're here today or you're in Blackwater tonight, you're watching online on the Pando app, through our website, through YouTube, or you're here in the house in Pensacola, I wanna ask you, are you a Christian? I wanna ask you if you died today, do you know for certain that you go to heaven? If you're not sure or if you know you would, let's take care of that right here, right now. Let's just turn it over to God and God's gonna make you brand new. The Bible says that sin is the problem, messed us up, separated us from God, and while we were sinners, Christ, what did he do? He died for us. He shed his blood and the blood he shed
because he was the perfect lamb of God, his blood is the only thing that forgives our sins, is the only thing that forgives and removes the stain and the stench of our sins, past, present, and future. So how do I become a child of God, pastor? The blood of Jesus. You come and you call on the name of Jesus and what you're saying is I need you, God, to do for me what I could never do for myself. I need you to wash me, I need you to forgive me, I need you to save me, I can't do it on my best day, but you can, so here I am. Would you save me, would you forgive me? The Bible says whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved, for it's with our mouth that we confess, it's with our heart that we believe that God raised him from the dead. What do we confess? We confess Jesus is Lord. What do we do with our heart, our intellect, our will, our emotion? We receive him as our savior, we receive him as our Lord, and we believe that he rose again. That's the game changer. He's not dead, guys, he's alive. Jesus is alive, so when you put your faith and trust in Christ alone, you get heaven's best. You get heaven as a home, but you get Jesus here and now. That's what it's all about,
so I'm gonna ask we lead every Sunday, before we leave, we lead people with an opportunity to call on the name of Jesus. Listen, your baptism won't get you to heaven. The fact that your family was this denomination or went to that church, not gonna get you to heaven. Mama was a deaconess, Daddy was a deacon, Grandpa was a pastor, not gonna get you to heaven. I got Bibles, I say prayers every night, not gonna get you to heaven. It's the prayer of calling on Jesus to be your savior that becomes, that's the beginning, the genesis of you being a child of God. So right now, would you pray to God? Not me, would you pray to God? I'm gonna lead you in a prayer. Would you repeat, would you say Jesus, I'm a sinner, you're the savior. I'm a sinner, you are Lord. I need you to do for me what I could never do for myself, wash away my sins and save me. Thank you for loving me, bleeding for me, dying for me. I believe you rose again, and right here, right now, I give you my life, I receive your life. Now teach me how to live, in Jesus' name, amen. If you prayed that today, I'm gonna ask you to raise your hand. We had a celebration of life, we got a hand. in the air. I see you, ma'am. Let's go. I love how that hand is up. I'm so proud of you. Come on. Lariah, Lariah's daddy went to be with the Lord. We had a celebration of life, not a funeral,
because he lived in a way he preached his own message. Don't make the preacher lie at your funeral. I won't do it. All I had to do is say he lived for him. We had five people cross that line of faith yesterday. So we already have one hand go up. Come on. On the count of three, anybody else, I want you to hold it up high. One, two, three. Raise it up. Come on. God bless you. Come on. God bless you. I see you. I see you. Come on, Blackwater. Hold it up. Let's celebrate, church. Come on. Let's celebrate.
