The Holy Spirit Can Change What You Can’t
Feel like you’re up against something bigger than you? A struggle that won’t let up. A fear that keeps coming back. The Bible says there’s an unseen battle, but we never face it alone. The Holy Spirit can help no matter what you’re facing.
By the way, want to share your salvation story with us? We'd love to hear it! You can send a letter to Life.Church at 4600 E 2nd St, Edmond, OK 73034. We're praying for your faith journey!
spiritual warfare, the battle that you cannot see. It's going on all the time, but you can't see it. Next week we're actually going to talk about the forces of darkness called demons. Today though, we're going to talk about the Holy Spirit, the greatest source of power available to every single Christian, yet the least talked about, least understood, and least relied on. We're talking about the Holy Spirit. If you've ever found yourself asking like, why is it that I've given my life to Jesus, I love Him, and yet I still struggle to live for Him? Maybe you'd say like I gave my life to Christ, I got saved, I've been going to church, I've got a U version reading plan, maybe I've even serving or whatever, and then he thought years later my life would be different, and you're doing all those things, and yet your life isn't that much different. You still battle with the same insecurities, still fight against the same temptation, still have the same fears. If that's you, why is it so difficult to successfully live the Christian life? Well, perhaps you've been trying to live for God without the power of God. You've been trying to live the Christian life without the power of the Spirit that God gives us through the Holy Spirit. Today I want to show you that you can't win a supernatural battle with natural strength. It's impossible to live the Christian life without the power of the Holy Spirit that God gives us, and what's true for us individually is also true for us as a church. And if you think about it, when we claim Jesus, but we live defeated, a lot of people notice, and that's why our world doesn't need more Christian just trying harder, but our world needs a church filled with the power of the Holy Spirit of God, because when the Holy Spirit fills his church, nothing is impossible with our God. So if you need the power of the Holy Spirit in every single one of you do, would you just pray with me today as we open up God's word? Father, we thank you that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit not just to be with us, but to dwell in us. God, as we study your word, would you teach us how you use your Spirit to empower us, to do your will on earth as it is in heaven. Holy Spirit, comfort us, strengthen us, convict us, empower us to live with the fruits of the Spirit, and the gifts of the Spirit to make your Son known. We pray this in Jesus' name and everybody said, Amen. All right. How many of you grew up in a church that talked a lot about the Holy Spirit raise your hand? Raise your hand. How many of you grew up in a church that didn't talk a lot about the Holy Spirit raise your hand? You could type in the comment section online, whatever type of church you grew up in. Some of you didn't hear a lot about the Holy Spirit. You might have grown up in a church like I did where we talked all about the Father, the Son, and the other one that we
ignore, so things don't get weird here. That's the kind of church I grew up in. Others of you grew up in a church that it wasn't the Holy Spirit, it was the Holy Ghost. And when it's in the Holy Ghost, it seems like there's a little bit more power. Maybe some of you have visited a church like that, and you're uncomfortable because there were people running around shouting, speaking other tongues, you thought that was weird. Let me tell you right now, the Holy Spirit is not weird. Sometimes Christians are weird. That's another sermon. You don't have to say, "Amen." That's the first time someone just said, "Amen," right over here in this section. The Holy Spirit is not weird. Sometimes Christians are weird. But let's talk about who is the Holy Spirit. Well, let's talk about, first of all, who the Holy Spirit is not. The Holy Spirit is not just some force or just some feeling. The Holy Spirit is not your gut. The Holy Spirit is not an it. The Holy Spirit is a person, the third person of the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Fully God and the Holy Spirit is not just a power from God, the Holy Spirit is God in Spirit form. Now, you would think that if you want to live the Christian life, probably the best way, easiest way, most powerful way is to literally do it with Jesus by your side. Imagine like Jesus right there. Maybe he's old fashioned Jesus in the New Testament wearing sandals and got his blonde hair, even though he wouldn't have had blonde hair, but he doesn't have a picture or whatever, or maybe just update him and he's looking kind of cool walking with his hat on backwards. You're walking with Jesus. You can hear him. You see his miracles. You would think it doesn't get any better than that, but Jesus said something shocking. He said this in John 16 verse 7. He said, in fact, because if I don't, the advocate won't come. Jesus said, if I do go away, then I will send him to you. Who is the advocate and why would it ever be better for Jesus in the flesh to go away? What could be better than having Jesus beside you? He explains in John 14 verse 16, he says, "And I will ask the Father, "and he will give you another advocate." There's that word again, who is the advocate? He says, "The advocate will never leave you."
Who is he? Verse 17 says, "He is the Holy Spirit "who leads into all truth." If you're wondering, what do you do next? The Holy Spirit leads you, guides you, and directs your steps. Then Jesus says, "The world cannot receive him "because it isn't looking for him "and doesn't recognize him." The world may be looked on and goes, "Who is the Holy Spirit? "That's weird because they don't understand. "They don't know him, they're not looking for him." But Jesus says, "But you know him, "washes, because he lives with you now." And Jesus says, "Later will be in you." If I go away, I can send him, he won't just be with you, but he'll be in you. Jesus says, "If I go away, the advocate will come." Who is the advocate? The Holy Spirit. In fact, the Greek word translated as advocate is word. Parachletos. Paro means alongside of. Kletos comes from the Greek word Kaleo, which means called. Jesus is literally saying the Holy Spirit is the one called alongside to help. And not just even alongside, but inside. And this word is translated as advocate,
a helper, comforter, or counselor. This is the Holy Spirit. Not just with you, but God's Spirit living in you. And you're being a little bit quiet now, but let me just continue your preach because I may be preaching a little bit better than you're responding. (congregation laughing) So just don't miss this. In Romans 8 and 11, this is what Paul says. He says, "The Spirit," and by say, "The Spirit." This is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. Imagine this. (congregation cheering) So my hear's starting to get him. Imagine the very same spirit that hovered over the waters at creation. The same spirit that fell on believers at Pentecost. The same spirit, the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you if you've been born of the Spirit of God. If you've been born of the Spirit of God, the very same power, the resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead. That power lives in you. What does that mean to you? Like, what does the Holy Spirit do in your life? Well, I'm gonna do the impossible
and teach on that in one section. This could be like a 19 part series and we'd just be getting warmed up. So I'm gonna go fast, you listen fast. What does the Holy Spirit do? I'm gonna give you some of the high points, several things. What does the Holy Spirit do in your life? Well, one thing the Holy Spirit does is this. When you don't know how to pray, the Holy Spirit prays for you. So amazing. Paul said in Romans 8, 26, he said, "And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness." If you're feeling weak right now, guess what, you are not alone. The Spirit dwells within you and his power is made perfect in your weakness. For example, Paul said, "We don't know what God wants us to pray for, "but the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings "that cannot be expressed in words. "When you don't know how to pray, "the Holy Spirit prays for you." In fact, there was a season. I was even looking in my journal. It was two years ago this week that I was under spiritual attack. And I was on my face in our kitchen before God, trying to pray, crying out to God and didn't have the words to pray. And I sensed in that moment, in my desperation,
I recognized that when I don't have the words to pray, the Holy Spirit is interceding on my behalf, going before God, praying the will of God when I don't have the words to cry for it myself. If you find yourself in a place like that where you're hurting and you don't even know what to pray, the Holy Spirit prays for you. That's what Paul means when he says, "The Spirit is making intercession for you." What else does the Holy Spirit do? Well, good news. Whenever you sin, Here's what scripture says. Whenever you sin against God, the Bible says this, when the Holy Spirit comes, John chapter 16, when the Holy Spirit comes, he will convict the world of its sin and of God's righteousness and of the coming judgment. Maybe there's something that the Holy Spirit's been convicting you about. It could be that there's some small compromise in your life and you've just been rationalizing it. Or maybe there might be a bigger sin that you've lived with for a long time and you've just justified it and said, well, this is just the way I am or it's no big deal or it's not really hurting anybody or whatever. If you feel the conviction of God, in fact, if you just open up your heart to the conviction of God,
he will start to move you away from your sin to become more like Jesus. And if you feel that conviction, that is not condemnation. That is the loving nature of God, drawing you toward his will and we should thank our good God. He loves us enough to correct us out of that, which hurts us and hurts him into the very things that gives us life. In fact, I'll share with you in a little bit in the message about something God convicted me about personally. What does the Holy Spirit do so much? The Holy Spirit prays for you when you don't know how to pray for yourself. The Holy Spirit convicts you away from sin toward life. A third thing is this, when you can't change yourself, the Holy Spirit changes you. When you can't live out the Christian life on your own, the Spirit of God will live it through you. Galatians five, I love this, Paul teaches us in verse 22 and 23, but the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives. The Holy Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. How many go on some fruits of the Spirit in your life? I know I do, I want more love, I want more patience. Amy says, yes, Spirit, give him more patience. Give him more patience.
I need the fruits of the Spirit in my life. And what's interesting is some of you are frustrated yourself sometimes. Why? Well, when you're saved, what happens? God forgives all your sins. That doesn't mean that every single struggle immediately disappears. I don't know any person who's ever given a testimony. I was saved by Jesus and I no longer crave peace and chocolate, right? Now I just want carrots or hummus or whatever it is healthy. You tell me, you know, whenever we're saved, we still have a battle going on between our flesh and the spirit. What does that mean? The flesh is what the Bible uses. It's the word, it's not just, it's not our skin, but it's our earthly desire or it's our sinful desire. And so all the time you know this, in fact, when you become a follower of Jesus, the battle doesn't go away. Sometimes the battle intensifies because suddenly you recognize, well, this is what God calls me to do, but this is what my selfish sinful nature wants to do. So the battle still goes on and you wonder like, why is the Christian life so hard? Again, so many so-called Christians are trying to serve God without the power of God, the Holy Spirit dwelling in you that produces spiritual fruit.
Have you ever seen a tree produce fruit? The tree doesn't really try. The tree never just sits there and goes, I'm not going to do it, this could somewhat, someone will meme this up and I'll look so dumb. But you just imagine, imagine what I'm doing right now. I'm trying, okay? What are you trying to do? I'm trying to produce an apple. No, as long as the roots go deep and the nourishment is there, the tree produces fruit because it's planted in the good ground. And this is what happens whenever you're planted in the Word of God and the Word of God is in you, the fruit comes out and the Holy Spirit produces what the flesh can't. So the flesh says, that person made me mad. I want to be bitter at them. And the Holy Spirit says, no, I'm going to produce love and give you the supernatural ability to forgive what you can't forgive in the flesh. Or fear comes on and tries to steal your peace. Well, you just remember, no, God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind. And the fruit of the spirit then produces the fruit of peace. It's not the flesh, it's not your power, it's the fruit of the spirit. Temptation starts to come on. I want to eat it, I want to yell. I want to type it out and hit send.
And the Holy Spirit develops self-control. We're not going to do what self wants. We're going to put that under the control of the spirit. We're going to choose the spirit of God. And here's what you need to hear. Is that the Christian life isn't just about you being better. It's not about you trying harder. It's about depending on the power that comes from God, His Spirit in you and through you. This is how the Spirit of God works. You are not designed to live the Christian life in your own power. It is completely impossible. And here's what's so cool about God. Is whenever God calls you to do something, the Holy Spirit always gives you the supernatural power to do what God calls you to do. If God calls you to forgive, He'll give you the power to forgive. If God calls you to give, He'll give you the power to give. If God calls you to let go of something, if God calls you to prophesy, He'll give you the faith, to prophesy. Whenever God calls you to do something, He gives you the supernatural power to do what He calls you to do. In fact, 1 Corinthians 12 tells us about the spiritual gifts that God gives us. Now, what you notice is what does God give you? Well, He gives you the fruits of the Spirit.
And He also gives you the gifts of the Spirit. It's not the fruits of your strength. It's not the gifts of your power, fruits of the Spirit, gifts of the Spirit. And I'll show you the gifts, some of the gifts that God gives us in 1 Corinthians 12. He gives us the gifts of wisdom and knowledge. Sometimes you can be in a situation and someone asks you a question. Suddenly, you have this, almost like an answer from heaven. You don't know where the Bible verse came from. You don't know why you know this. You have wisdom to counsel someone, wisdom to direct because it's a supernatural gift from God. Maybe you have the gift of faith. I'm gonna tell you right now. I am married to a woman who has the gift of faith. If you need any kind of miracle in your life, walk straight past me and walk over to her and let her pray because she has the faith to call things that are not as though they were to believe for miracles and for healing. God gives us the gift of miracles. He could give us a spiritual gift of healing. He gives us a gift of discernment of spirits. Those of you who are born again, believe us. Have you ever met someone and thought, oh, something's not right here. Spirits that I can just sense that something's off. That's not just a natural gift.
It's a spiritual discernment. Or other times you meet someone and say, I can just, my spirit bears witness that this is a person I can just trust and you just connect with them. The Holy Spirit gives us a gift of speaking in other tongues. It's not just weird, it's a spiritual gift. There's also the gift of interpreting tongues, which Paul says is a very good gift. There's also the gift of prophecy. What is prophecy? It's the supernatural power of God to prophetically speak truth or even to call out what is to come. And if you've been here for a while, you'll know that I am, I try not to be unnecessarily weird. I don't tell a whole lot of crazy big stories. I will tell you though, honestly truthfully, that of the gifts I have to give to prophecy. And it's not like I do it all the time. I don't know how to turn it on. I don't know how to turn it off. And if I tell you the big prophetic stories, I could probably count them all on two hands. But I can give you an example of some that are very unusual. One time I was in the lobby years ago and I met a couple that was like many couples that I've met. They were unable to have children and they did everything possible they could.
Went to all the different medical treatments and prayed and more treatments and prayed. And it had been seven years and they said, would you pray that God would help us to conceive? And so I did. I just started praying. And when I was praying in the middle of the prayer, I just stopped and just looked up and stopped praying and looked at him and said, by next Easter, God is going to give you a son. I don't know how, don't know why. That's never happened before, never happened since. The moment the words came out, I thought, oh dear God, this better be you. (congregation laughing) Like, I mean, let the words came out. And then it was like followed by the, oh, you know, in the moment it was like prophetic, like God showed me to say it. And then all this doubt came in. And then like, you know, every three weeks, hey, any news? Any news? Can I hear you tell me? Well, I'll tell you what, at Easter, the next year, they were there with their two-week old son worshiping the resurrected Christ through a prophetic work. This is, it's not something that I can brag about. It's not something that I can produce. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen sometimes.
It's not a natural gift. It is a supernatural gift from God. And if you are born in the spirit of God, you have access to some of those gifts. God gives different believers, different gifts. And what I promised you is that you have some type of spiritual gift. Paul says this in 1 Corinthians 12, 11, it is the one and only spirit, this is the Holy Spirit of God, who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. Once you recognize God has gifted me in a certain area, you may have the gift to pray for miracles, you may have the gift of healing. There are other gifts, you may have the gift of serving, of teaching, of giving, of evangelism. If you, when you recognize your gift, understand this, it is not to make you look spiritual. The gift is not for you to brag on, your gift is not for you, it's not for your edification, your gift is to help serve people and to build his church, he gives you gifts to be used for his glory. What does he do? If you are in Christ, he gives you the Holy Spirit, the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead, that Holy Spirit will pray for you, will convict you of sin,
that Holy Spirit will give you the fruits of the Spirit. He will give you spiritual gifts, and the Holy Spirit will give you spiritual boldness. Supernatural boldness, I see some pretty bold people right here, the Holy Spirit has given you boldness, you've come out of incredibly difficult situations, and now you're bold for Jesus. Think about Peter years ago. Peter was the guy that denied Jesus three different times. Little girl says, "Do you know Jesus?" He's like, "No, I don't, there's a little servant girl." Denied him three times. Then in Acts chapter one, verse eight, Jesus promises this, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you'll be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Remember, Acts chapter two at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit comes like the sound of a rushing wind, and it seemed like tons of fire as the Holy Spirit filled believers. And the same Peter who denied Jesus before a few people boldly proclaims Jesus before thousands of people. And what did he say? He said this in Acts two, 38, he said, "Repent." Everybody say, "Repent." He said, "Repent and be baptized." Everybody say, "Be baptized." Repent and be baptized.
Every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, repent, turn from your sins. If you confess your sins, the Bible says, he is faithful and just to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Have you repented of your sins? Then he says, "Be baptized." Uh-oh, next weekend we're baptizing. Oh my goodness, what a coincidence. If you have not been baptized, guess what you're doing next weekend. You're inviting everyone you know from every place you know to come and watch you be obedient to the Word of God when you repent and be baptized. And when you repent and be baptized, this is what the Word of God says. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Peter who was afraid before was filled with the boldness of the spirit of God preached that very direct message and he got up in their business. He's like, turn you corrupt generation and 3,000 people accepted the grace and salvation of Jesus Christ. Then in Acts chapter four, the whole church is facing opposition. Hey, if you face opposition for your obedience to God, don't be surprised. Be worried if you don't. - That's right.
- When you're serving Jesus, the enemy pushes back. And here they are preaching Jesus, facing opposition, what they prayed. Not American Christianity prayers. God, keep us safe. Give us traveling mercies. God protect us. God, may nothing go wrong in our life. Keep us comfortable. No, they prayed God, give us boldness. That's where they prayed. And the Bible tells us this. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. Imagine that. It's shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. And what do they do? They spoke the word of God boldly. Church, can you hear me? That is what we need. Not more religious entertainment. Not more comfortable Christianity. We needed shirts filled with the Holy Spirit. Boldly proclaiming the uncompromised word of God. (congregation applauding) Oh. No. (congregation applauding) Why aren't we experiencing more of this power? Good question.
So glad you asked. (audience laughing) We're literally fighting the one who wants to help us. In fact, there's three different ways that we tend to fight against the Spirit according to the word of God. And one is we resist the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit prompts us and we push back. The Bible tells us not only can we resist the Spirit, but we can grieve the Spirit of God. In other words, we know what the right thing to do is, and yet we still choose sin which grieves the heart of God and grieves the Spirit of God. We can resist, we can grieve, and we can even quench the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit's working maybe in your life, and then you just shut him down. So what is the right response to the Holy Spirit? Well, Galatians 5 tells us the right response is to keep in step with the Spirit. This is what Galatians 5 says. Since we live by the Spirit, if you're a Christian, you don't live by your own power, your own knowledge, your own gifts, but we live by the Spirit. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. What happens? You read the word of God,
the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin, and you repent and you step into righteousness. You ask the Holy Spirit to direct your steps during the day, and the Holy Spirit prompts you to text somebody, and so you take a step, and you text somebody. The Holy Spirit prompts you to pray for somebody, and you stop, and you pray for somebody. And what happens is one step after another, the Spirit prompts you to take a step, the Spirit prompts you to take a step, the Spirit prompts you to take a step, and all of a sudden, you're not walking by logic, you're not walking by sight, you're walking by faith. This is the Christian life, not by your power, but by his spirit. I told you I'd tell you when the Holy Spirit convicted me. I took a step of faith after the Holy Spirit convicted me earlier in the year, and what happened is I recognized as I was in a time of prayer, God showed me that I had been more cautious in my preaching in recent years, just more cautious. I think I took enough hits after 2020. All y'all were crazy, all y'all are crazy. Every single one of you. Conservative, progressive, in the middle, all you. And I think I just was just maybe tired of getting hit. And so I was just more cautious, more hesitant in my preaching. What's funny is the devil didn't need to tempt me
with some big sin, just a little bit of fear. And so I started repenting. God, give me the courage to preach your word boldly. So I'm gonna just tell you about my preaching schedule. I had other plans for September, but the Holy Spirit prompted me to change those plans and preach on asking for a friend. And you may or may not have noticed, but we talked about a lot of controversial subjects that many churches are afraid to address. And that was born out of the Holy Spirit's conviction. Then you moved to October. Again, I had other plans for October and November, but I've been in a spiritual battle, and I've been doing real, real spiritual warfare. And honestly, I've been doing spiritual warfare on behalf of some of you, because I know the battle that you're in. And so I sensed the Holy Spirit leading me again to change plans, which I'm not very good at doing, 'cause I like to stick with my plans, but the Holy Spirit convicted me. And I could stay with my plans or follow the preaching, the prompting of the Spirit. And that's why we're preaching on supernatural right now. It's the Holy Spirit convicting and working and moving. Now, I don't know what the Holy Spirit wants to do in your life, but I'll tell you right now. Don't grieve him. Don't quench him.
Don't resist him. When the Holy Spirit prompts you, what you wanna do is you wanna keep in step. So the Spirit of God is gonna speak to you. Any time you open his word, any time you ask him, he always speaks. Our God is a speaking God. He speaks to us through his spirit. If the Spirit prompts you to apologize to someone, apologize. If the Spirit prompts you to forgive someone, forgive them. If God has given you the gift of prophecy and the Holy Spirit prompts you to prophesy, speak on him faith. If the Holy Spirit prompts you to reach out and to share your faith with someone, share your faith with them. If the Holy Spirit prompts you to pray for supernatural healing, pray boldly, whether you see it in the natural or not. You don't need to know the whole plan. You just take the next step, keep in step, keep in step, keep in step with the Spirit. And that's why if you're struggling, you need to know you are never ever meant to live the Christian life on your own. And I wanna say just to our church, church is time to step up. It's time to step up. Don't play church.
Don't be halfway in. Don't be sorta in the things of Christ and sorta in this world. Step up into the power, the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead. And I want you to imagine, what do you think we could do as the church? If the whole church was dependent on his power, imagine addictions broken, imagine marriages restored, imagine the sick, shield, and the lost found at church, unashamed of the gospel, unwilling to compromise truth, big enough to reach the world and small enough to care for the one. I'm going to tell you right now. Our nation doesn't need more Christians trying harder. Our world needs a church filled with the Holy Spirit power of God because when the Holy Spirit fills this church, nothing is impossible with our good God. So Father, we pray today by the power of your Holy Spirit to do a work in every single believer, draw those who are far from you and empower us, God, to be the church you've created us to be your light into this dark world. As you're praying today without looking around, some of you, you are in a battle right now, and you know you need the Holy Spirit. Maybe you're fighting the same temptation you battle with for years, or you're trying to change something on your own, or you're fighting for a child, or you're fighting for your marriage, you're fighting for righteousness
in some area of your life. Maybe you guys calling to do something, you're still afraid. There's some area of your life where you need the power of the Holy Spirit because you're in a spiritual battle. If that's you today on your behalf, or for somebody that you love, would you raise your hands? I need the Spirit's power. Raise your hands all over the room, all of our churches online, you can just type in the comment section. I need the power of the Holy Spirit. Father, we thank you that your spirit represents your heart, your kingdom values, and God, we thank you that you pray for us and we don't know how to pray. God, thank you for convicting us of sin. God, thank you for giving us the fruits of the spirit, the qualities that we cannot work up in the flesh, but we can produce them by your power through the spirit. And God, thank you for the supernatural gifts that you've given us. God, would you call us not to resist, or quench, or grieve the spirit, but keep in step with the spirit. God, individually, that we could do your will. And then, God, as a church, that we could truly be a city on a hill, sharing the good news of a Savior who gave his life and rose again. God, whatever needs are in this church, would you meet them, God, so we could meet the needs of the world, lifting up the name that is above every name. We thank you, God.
We thank you, God, that Jesus loved us enough to go away, so the Holy Spirit wouldn't just be with us, but in us, your power in us. Holy Spirit, do your work. As you keep praying today, some of you wonder, where do you stand with God? And you maybe tried to be good, and maybe tried to be holy, but you couldn't. And the reason is, because you cannot live the Christian life on your own. It is impossible to live for God without the power of God. Let me tell you about the gospel. The Bible tells us that every single one of us have sinned. All of us have sinned, but God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son, Jesus, who was without sin. Jesus willingly gave his life on a cross. He paid the price, shed his blood, so our sins could be forgiven. He died in our place as the perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins, and three days later, the Spirit of God raised him from the dead so that anyone, and this includes you, doesn't matter who you are, no matter what you've done, anyone who calls on the name, that is above every name, the name of Jesus. At the name of Jesus, one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess his lordship. When you call on the name of Jesus, your sins would be forgiven. You'd be filled with the same Spirit of God.
You would not be the same today to all of our churches. There are those of you that you don't know where you stand with God. But something is pulling you toward God. Guess what that is? That is the Holy Spirit that's loving you. His loving kindness, drawing you to him. You have a choice today to say, yes, I receive your free gift, or you reject it today in all of our churches. Those who know, you need his forgiveness, you need his grace. The Holy Spirit is drawing you today. We're gonna repent of our sins. We're gonna call on Jesus. He's gonna forgive you and make you new today. In all of our churches, those who say, that's me, I need his forgiveness today. I'm not playing around, I'm turning away from my old life. I'm surrendering my whole life to the lordship of Christ. Jesus, save me, I give my life to you. That's your prayer, lift your hands high right now, all over the place and say yes. God bless you here, others today, right back over there saying yes. Jesus, be the savior of my life. Forgive all of my sins. Be my Lord online. You can type in the comment section. I'm surrendering my life to Jesus. Just type that in and together we're gonna pray,
church pray aloud, pray heavenly Father. I repent of my sins. Forgive me Jesus. Be my Savior and the Lord of my life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so I could know you. Live in your power and do your work and your will on earth as it is in heaven. Thank you for salvation. Thank you for your grace. My life is not my own. I give it all to you. Thank you for new life. You have all of mine. In Jesus' name I pray. Now with Holy Spirit-powered church, can somebody give God praise today? (congregation cheering) Hey, it's Pastor Craig at Amy Grohl's Show with Life Church and if you just made the decision to give your life to Christ, this is the most important and life-changing decision that you'll ever make and all of heaven is celebrating right now because of your decision and we're celebrating with you too. That's right and we want you to know that God sees you. He's with you and he loves you. He has a purpose for your life and incarceration. It doesn't define you. It doesn't confine you 'cause you are free in Christ. You are new in him.
Chains have been broken today. And so as a follower of Jesus, God wants us to be on this journey together and I want you to know you don't have to do this alone. And that's why we as your church family, we're here for you and we want to help you grow in your faith and find your next steps. So first of all, just keep joining us for church every single week and worshiping through the Pando app. We're so thankful that you're here. When we draw close to God, He draws near to us and so I would also encourage you, read God's word if it's available to you. And as you do, just start to pray and invite God into every single aspect of your life. And then if you feel led, you might even share your decision with somebody else. There might be a family member or a friend and they're gonna want to hear your story and your spiritual journey. We'd love to hear it as well. And you can send us a letter if you'd like to. The address is on your screen and our team will write back to you and help you grow in your faith with Jesus. And so we'd love to mail you some content about who Jesus is and help you grow in your relationship with Him now that you've chosen to follow Jesus. - That's right. And God's plan for your life,
it's greater than anything that you could ever imagine. In fact, Ephesians 3.20 says God is able to do abundantly more than we could ask or imagine. Trust Him with your whole life. You will see Him work in ways you have never thought possible. Congratulations on this decision. We are your family and you're part of the family of God.
