He goes "Yeah, I do" So that's awesome, so based upon Gary's testimony To baptize you Gary, in the name of the father, son, and the Holy Spirit Buried with him, raised for all the name of the life And this is his brother, beautiful right out there This is his younger brother Giovanni, and he got

Does anyone have a testimony of God's faithfulness in their life? God's goodness Everybody in this room, whether you know it or not, has a story of how God's kept you. And so today we just focus on His goodness and His faithfulness. Scriptures says I will bless the Lord at all times. My praise will continually be on my lips. We will not forget His goodness. And so, God, we rejoice in who you are. We rejoice in what you've done. We thank you that even when we were faithless, you remain faithful because you cannot deny yourself. God, we're asking just for a fresh outpouring of your spirit. We're asking for fresh revelation of who you are. We're asking for a fresh song of deliverance in our lives. God, I'm praying that this hour you would do what only you can do in our lives for your namesake and for your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, everybody said, amen. Come on, let's celebrate Jesus. Hey, I just want y'all to know we plan the same things every hour, but they're not received the same. And last hour, there was a heavy spirit in the room. And the people could not receive what God was doing. It frustrated me the whole time. I'm serious, there was just a stronghold in the room. I was praying against it and walking and I'm trying to figure out should we do something else, should we call an audible, should we stop the service and start over? Let me tell you, not this hour because I just sent a spoon of freedom and joy and deliverance in the room. And I'm so thankful for you. God's going to meet you right where you're at this hour. And I'm so glad you're here. If it's your first time here, I want to say welcome home. You were meant to be here today. And God didn't bring you here on accident. And I'm so excited for what He has for you this hour. Would you say hello to a few people around you? Give them a high five, a handshake. Tell them they're glad to see them at church this morning. Well, you can be seated this morning is such an incredible morning in the lots of our church because we are opening this morning our Fairview Heights campus in Portsmouth. And I want you to turn your attention to the screens and get a little glimpse of what God has already been doing there. I will forever be grateful to the senior adults and the members there at Fairview Heights for the faith that they had not to close their doors but to make sure that the doors of their church stayed open. I'm grateful that because of their faith and because of the partnership between Fairview Heights and Liberty Live Church that families are going to find hope and that that neighborhood will be restored. I'm 91 years old. I was 13 years old when I started at Fairview Heights. And that's when the church got started. God has a purpose for this church. He hasn't left it here this long before it just sits.

(audience cheering) You know, rain is always a sign of the blessing of God, and I believe he has showers and blessings he's gonna pour on us today. I also wanna say welcome and shout out to those who joined us online, whether it be military families, missionary families, or the minimum in the correctional facilities. We're so excited to be able to bring the word of God to you. And I know that this week was the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack on 9/11 on our country at the Twin Towers at the Pentagon, and Pastor Donald did a great job remembering last week and thanking all of those who keep us safe. But I tell you, we must never forget. And just like the Bible says, there was a generation that grew up that did not know Joseph. There's a generation that wasn't alive then. They know nothing about those days. And I'm telling you, the threat is as great today, if not greater on our country. So would you just help me say thank you to our first responders, the police, and firefighters, and military, and EMT, the EMS. Yes, thank you. Come on, you can do a little better than that. Well, we're in a series on the seven letters after the church, so turn with me, please. To the last book in the Bible, the book of Revelation, we're at chapter two. And Pastor Daniel kicked it off talking about emphasis and the letter to the church at Ephesus. And I think the amazing thing about that church was all the people they had there, spiritual leaders, whether it was Paul for two years or John for almost 30 years, and the mother of Jesus, Mary, who was there, and John was caring for her. And all the different ones that were there, and yet within 35 years, let that sink in. Within 35 years, the Lord Jesus is calling them to repent. The Lord Jesus is calling them to repent and remember that first love, their first works, and to return. And so it can happen to any church, we're always just one generation away

from a church dying and declining, are you awake? And so it speaks to us today. You know, when you look at these letters to the churches, they're individual churches, they're local churches. And John, after he left Ephesus, he ended up being put on the Isle of Patmos and there he was persecuted. And so he is writing a letter to each campus pastor, each one of these, there's seven of them. And I've got a map, and even though you may not be able to really see the names on it, I'm gonna help you out. The bottom line is this, over to the right, you see Jerusalem, and this is Israel. And I've been there many times, and God willing, we're going again on October the 5th. you see the missionary journeys of Paul, all the way to Rome where he died. And in between the two, you see here the seven churches. And literally it was a postal route. So the letters are in the order that they would deliver mail in that day. It's clockwise, Ephesus and then Smyrna. Pergamum we're gonna talk about today, then Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. And so you see it here in relation to the area. And so when you go to Israel, you get the Old Testament and the Gospels. Are your wakes amen. All right, you go over here to the journeys of Paul.

You're gonna get the book of Acts and you're gonna get the Epistles. And then when you come here in the middle, you get the book of Revelation and the seven churches. And God willing, that's the next stop on my bucket list. We've been to Israel several times. We've been on the journeys of Paul and I hope to go back, but I really wanna go to the seven churches of Asia. And so just you pray that that'll come to pass and you'll be listening for an announcement in the near future, all right? Well, I want you to see here that the way that the Lord speaks to every one of these is He gives them a commendation, all right? He compliments them. And then after that, He will correct them, whatever is wrong. And only two churches, Smyrna and Philadelphia did not get a correction, all right? And then He will give them a command or He will give them a challenge of what they need to do next. Notice that pattern that's good advice in communication. Between you and your spouse, you and your children, you and your coworkers. Don't just go in complaining about what's wrong. Hey, give a commendation of something good that's happening. Amen? No, not getting it, make a deposit before you make a withdrawal.

All right, that's good marriage advice right there. And so you see the pattern here in these letters that I don't wanna spend a lot of time here, but I wanna point out to you that while they're individual letters to those churches, seven letters to seven churches, and nobody got the same letter, all right? So it's very unique. I wanna point out to you that it also is a picture of church history because we know Ephesus was from 33 when Jesus died and the church was birthed through the life of the apostles. So 100 A.D. And then Smyrna, last week was all about what? Suffering, and that is the second, and so this is first century church, this is second, third century church, when the church suffered great persecution under 10 different Caesars, all right? You're tracking with me? And then you get to Pergamum where we're gonna be today, and this is where everything changed. All of a sudden there's an emperor or Caesar who is conquering in the name of the cross, and so he makes it legal for you to be a Christian instead of persecuting them, all right? And this is the marriage between the church and the state, which has never a good thing when you go out and conquer or spread Christianity

in a way that they did in that day and time, all right? And so we're gonna talk more about that today. And then 606, this is the Catholic church, and it goes all the way to 1500s, that's Middle Ages and Dark Ages. And then you get to Sardis, and Sardis is the reformation of the church, 1500s, that's when Luther took his thesis, and he nailed it to the church door, and he said the Catholic church needs to make these changes. He wasn't trying to start a new denomination. He wasn't trying to start the Lutheran church. He was just saying, hey, we gotta get back to the Bible. And so what happened is the Catholic church said we're not changing, and so the Protestant reformation took place, and so you got Luther and Calvin and all that period of time. Then you get to Philadelphia, and in 1750, what happened? The Great Awakening, the first Great Awakening, and the second Great Awakening. So you've got Jonathan Edwards, you've got George Whitfield, you've got John Wesley, you've got the second Awakening with Charles Finney, and that has continued on into the day in which we live. So Philadelphia represents the evangelical church, that's us. All right? Until the rapture, when God calls us home, but something happened in 1900, around the turn of the century in 1900,

there were churches that enlisted terminology here. I'm not talking politics, I'm talking about theology. That's when theological liberalism creeped into the church. So there are churches that no longer believe the Bible, there are churches that no longer believe in the deity of Christ. And that is the church of Laodicea in the last days. And listen, they're not going up in the rapture. They're going to be through the tribulation. If you don't believe Jesus is who He said He is, you not going up, hello? And so it's just a picture of church history. If you got it, say I got it. So it is a timely word, but in a way, it's a timeless word to all of us. So what's God's word to us today? He says to us today, you got to uphold truth. Write that down. Number one, you got to uphold truth. And I'm going to read it to you right here in verse 12. Right to the angel of the church in Pergamum, thus says the one who has the sharp double edged sword. And so the angel here just means messenger. So John is on the Isle of Patmos and he sent a letter out to every campus pastor. There's seven of them. So hey, we had to have Portsmouth. Now we've got seven physical locations, amen? All right, and so you see a pattern here.

And then the church, we're not sure when the church was established, what we know here at Pergamum. What we know is this that in Acts 19, Paul was there for two years and all the residents of Asia, both Jews and Greeks heard the word of the Lord. So we believe some time in that two year period that the church at Pergamum was started. And I want to point out to you several things that the Lord said, I am the one. I am the one. The church doesn't belong to the pastor. It doesn't belong to the deacons. It doesn't belong to the staff. It didn't even belong to the members. It belongs to Jesus. He's the one who gave himself for her. And he said, I'm speaking, I am the one. Now let's talk for a minute about Pergamum. It was a wealthy city. Alex, under the great, reportedly stored large amounts of gold there. Pergamum was built high on the hill. I'll show you a picture in just a moment. But it was the capital. And to get this, it was the capital of Asia for over 250 years. It's a major center of government and education, culture and religion. There they had temples of medicine. A lot of pagan temples there.

But one of them was one of medicine and it was filled with snakes crawling on the ground. And when people were sick, they were told if you go to that temple and you lay there in the darkness overnight and one of those snakes slithers over your body, you will be healed. Let me just tell you, if that snake ever touched me, I'd be totally healed. It wouldn't matter what else was wrong with me, all right? But what is the symbol of medicine today? A snake on a pole. You could trace it right back to Pergamum. Pergamum, some of your bibles will say Pergamum. That's the Greek form of the word. Some will say Pergamum, like I'm reading today. That is the Latin form of the word. But it's where we get the word parchment. So that's where they started writing on parchment. The term sheepskin, university still use it today. You go get a degree, you get your sheepskin that came from Pergamum. And then they begin to take pulp of wood and ride on it. Have you ever noticed something about a paper plant? Anybody ever been around a paper plant? What stands out about it? Smells. Unless you work there, then it smells like money. Amen, come on. Hey, but you see here, it was known for a library to listen that had over 200,000 volumes in that one library.

And so it was incredible. That didn't sound like much today in our information age, but 200,000 volumes all written by hand. Written on parchment. And when Mark Anthony conquered the city, he took all 200,000 volumes and gave it to his girlfriend Cleopatra. She just needed something to read, amen. She was, well, we read here, let me go back to it, he said, it's the one speaking who has the sharp double edged sword. And so I want to show you in Revelation 19, it says a sharp sword will come out of his mouth. What's the sword? It's the word of God. So that he might strike the nations with it. He'll rule them with an iron rod. And he has a name written on his robe. And on his side, everybody say it with me. King of kings and Lord of lords. And so we see that the word here is the sharp two edges sword that he's talking about. In Hebrews four, it says, for the word of God is living. It's powerful, it's sharper than a two edges sword. And it's piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and the joints and marrow and his discerner of the thoughts and intent of the heart. place. It brings comfort to the afflicted and it afflicts the comfortable. The Word of God's pointed.

It's sharp. And so some people are being blessed by it and some people are being offended by it. And I'm just saying that's having a preacher of another generation. He used to say preaching doesn't offend, usually doesn't affect. I'm not trying to offend you. But I'm telling you the Word of God, the truth hurts sometimes. And so you need to get your toes stepped on. If you go to church and you don't ever feel conviction or ever feel like the Word of God really pointed something out in your life that you needed, then there's something's wrong. You need ears to hear what the Spirit says. And when I'm preaching, the Spirit will apply to every individual. People, I leave the service and they'll say to me, "I tell you, God really spoke to me today about such and such." When you were talking about such and such, and I'm thinking to myself, "I didn't talk about that." But that's what they got out of it. Why? The Spirit of God knew how to apply. Here it is piercing even to the soul and the Spirit, a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And so Billy Sunday, an evangelist, that second great awakening, one time he was preaching and they said to, "You rub us wrong." When you preach, you just rub us wrong. You rub the fur the wrong way to which you replied, then turn the cat around. And so I'm just telling you that there are times that it rubs your own. But I want you to move, listen, I want you to move from being mad to being sad. And I want you to move from being mad and sad to being glad. Amen? That's why I want you to leave. Well, in Revelation 2, he says, "I know," everybody say, "I know."

God's the only one who could say that. We go around and say, "I know," you don't know anything. Listen, we think, we have opinions. Somebody told me years ago, opinions are kind of like armpits. People usually have to and they both can't stink, amen. And so only God could say, "I know," and he knows where you live. Now let that sink in. He knows what's going on in your life. He knows where you live. He knows all about you. He says, "I know where you live," and where Satan's throne is. Yet you're holding on to my name, here's the commendation. You're holding on to my name. Even though you're in the city of Satan, you're on the doorstep of the devil and yet you're holding on to my name. Why do we have seven campuses around Heptirach? Why did we go and adopt Fairview Heights and reopen? I'll tell you why, to lift high the name of Jesus. We want to hold high the name of Jesus. And we're not going to deny the faith. He said, "You're holding on to my name, you did not deny the faith in me." Even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness who was put to death among you, here it is again, where Satan lives. Where Satan lives. There was a lot of demonic activity in that city. It was the first city that built a temple for the worship of Caesar. And one time a year, they had to say, "Caesar is Lord." And if you were not willing to say that, it could cost you your life. And we believe that Antipas was probably the pastor of that church and would not say, "Caesar is Lord," because Jesus is Lord and it cost him his life.

Well, I've got a picture here of the city and it was an amazing sight to behold. You've got the lower city down here, you've got the theater in the middle. At the very top, the temple of the Athenia, you've got the altar of Zeus, you've got the temple of Caesar, you've got the library here, but here's what I'm going to pull out. Why does it call the city of Satan? Well, take your pick. Hey, a lot of different pagan temples there. Did you know that the devil, he doesn't care if you're religious or not, just long as you don't believe in the one true and living God. No, he wants you to be religious and they were very polytheistic. Now, you see over here the altar of Zeus, anybody see in the news just this week where a guy was on an airplane started yelling, you know, just cursing God, cursing Jesus, yelling racial slurs, and they duct taped him to the plate. Did you see that in the news? I told the first hour, I thought that was against the law. Tammy and I went out on a date one time, came back, left our oldest son, Taylor, who was just, I don't know if he's 12, 13. We left him in charge. looked just like that guy on that plane and I came on I said Taylor you can't do that you can't do that that flight attendant did it and have you ever stopped to think what was she doing with duct tape hello but anyway have you heard the whole story what happened was sitting beside that man on the plane was Rabbi Jonathan Kahn he's an author he's written a lot of books the harbinger is one of them well he has just written a new book it is just now coming out and he showed the cover of it the name of the book is the altar of Pergamum it's what I'm preaching on today he showed the man the cover which was the city of Satan the altar of Pergamum and the guy flipped out all these demonic manifestations I'm just changing the devil's alive and well now hear me he was cast out of heaven when he rebelled against God and he is the prince of this world all right but he's not God he kept me everywhere at one time he's not

omnipresent so how does he work a third of the angels were cast out with him and through these demonic forces you see evil all throughout the world and and we see it in this very story that we just heard about it now this altar of Zeus or the altar of Pergamum that he just wrote the book about they listen now they found that years ago archaeologist did and they dug it up and transported it to Berlin and for years and still you can go to the museum there of Pergamum and see the altar of Zeus that was before the Nazis and when Hitler came to power he made a replica of it and placed it at the rallies where he would spew his hate and so I'm just telling you there's a lot of evil connected with this and so take you pick whether it's the temple of Caesar the Emperor worship or Zeus whichever one it is it was the city of Satan you say well what does that have to do with me I'm glad you asked the devil is out to destroy every city he is out to destroy every community the devil comes to steal kill and destroy he wants to destroy and kill your marriage and kill your home if he can ever listen steal killing destroy if he can ever steal your understanding get you to think wrong he will kill your joy you don't enjoy living anymore you don't enjoy your marriage you don't enjoy going to work you don't enjoy going to church you don't enjoy praying you don't enjoy reading your Bible and if the devil could ever steal you understand and kill you joy then he will destroy God's purpose for your life you won't even want to live and so I'm just saying to you today that there is a growing hostility toward Christ and Christianity and this is not the easiest place where we're called to live for Jesus but if you have a tough job God's put you there if you have a tough class at school or at college God has placed you there I'm talking to some pastor right now you're in a tough church let me tell you when I went to the church in Arkansas I remember the pastor at the neighboring city in Greenwood he heard this young guy was coming to a church where nobody stayed over three years only one person had stayed five and and the church has split about three ways and they knew it and the older pastor said they have thrown the lamb to the wolves that's what he said but you know what God built a great church there and I'm just telling

you where sin abounds grace can much more abound and God has placed us where we are and he will give us what is needed even if you feel like you're the only believer there if you feel like you're the only Christian at your job hold fast to his name at work at school and college in the military stay true to the faith can I have a good amen he called activist by name he knows your name and he knows exactly what you need hold to the truth now here it is truth without grace it's legalism I know a lot of people they can quote the Bible they some of the many people you ever met in your life they don't have the spirit that accompanies the Bible you met them too yeah I can hear by the way you like that listen the issues that truth the issue is they want to argue and debate and win their point and and and there's a difference between winning your argument and winning people and so I'm saying to you is legalism. Grace without truth is heresy. Jesus is full of grace and truth. And we've got to speak the truth in love. And everybody's saying, well, number two, he tells us not only to uphold truth, but to unmask tolerance. Look at verse 14, but I have a few things against you. You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balum, who taught Balic to place a stumbling block in front of the Israelites to eat meat, sacrifice to idols and to commit sexual immorality. In the same way, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Niccolatians. And I want you to know, if you read in the King James, he'll say, "Whom I hate." And he says it in verse six, "In most all translations, he hated the teaching of the Niccolatians." And so we've got to unmask tolerance. Here it is, tolerance has been redefined to mean that all values, all beliefs, all lifestyles, and all religions are equal. Just be open-minded. When you be so open-minded, your brain rack falls out. Well, listen, the story of Balum is found in Numbers 22, and the Moabot hired this prophet to go and curse the Israelites. And every time he got up to speak a curse over them, a blessing came out. He tried it over and over again. I tell you, God can turn a curse into a blessing, amen? Well, he said, "You can't curse them, so you're going to have to send women, Moabot women, to seduce them, and what persecution could not destroy outside, compromise destroyed inside." They married these Moabot women and sure enough, they left the one true and living God and the worship there of Jehovah. So if the devil can't kill

a church, he'll join it. Now, what's the Niccolatians? Well, in Acts chapter 6, there was a deacon named Nicholas, and church tradition says that he used his position to lead people astray, and it's just a reminder that you can use your influence for good or for bad. And remember, I told you in chapter 2, verse 6, he said that he hates the teaching of the Niccolatians. It was a teaching of cheap grace. God's died for your sins. Your sins have been paid for, so do anything you want to live like you want to. It was cheap grace and self-indulgence. And so I want you to know, we could either love what God loves and we need to hate what God hates. Let me show you six things that God hates. He says in Proverbs 6, six things the Lord hates. Yes, even seven is an abomination to him. It's a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans. It says, feed that are swift and running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies and, here's number seven, one who sows discord among brothers, among the brethren. And so we ought to love what God loves, we ought to hate what God hates, and everybody said. I want to point out one thing. Some scholars believe that the Niccolatians is really made up of two words, "naki," which means victory, you know the word "naki," and then "leity," Nickelatians, "naki" and "leity," to conquer the "leity." And what did the church do when the church organized and you got the Pope's? Basically, the church was told, "You can't get to God without going through them, you have to pray through them." And so it was the conquering of the "leity," but I can tell you right now, you don't have to talk to Pastor Grant to talk to God. All the Bible says, listen, there's one mediator between God and man, and his name's Jesus. We come boldly before the throne of grace through the shed blood of Jesus. The veil in the temple was torn. We've got access directly into God. And so there's no separation between clergy and "leity." All right. Well, I want to point out one other thing here. We're to understand time, understand time. Look at verse 16, "So repent, otherwise I will come to you quickly," there's the time. "I'm going to come quickly and fight against them with the sword of my mouth." Now he's talking about the Lord coming back quickly. He's talking about judgment coming to his church quickly. Now let that sink in. He says, "If you don't repent in any gospel that leaves out repentance is not the gospel of the Bible." And so he said, "You better repeat it. If not, I'm going to come fight against you, and I'm going to tell you, when God fights against you, that's a war. You can't win."

He resists the proud. He gives grace to the humble. A lot of times you'll hear this statement. People will say, "Oh, you ought to be on the right side of history. You ought to be on the right side of history. You better be on the right side of God." Because I'm just telling you, this is a battle you can't win. Well, Pergamos, it's interesting. It means marriage. "Gammas" is the Greek word, root word for marriage. So we have words like monogamous. You're faithful to one person in marriage. You are polygamous. You have many that you're married to. So Pergamos means marriage. If you got it, say, "I got it." And I'm just telling you, the church doesn't have to be like the world to win the world. In fact, we've got to stay distinct, and we've got to be salt and light in the world. Parents, I challenge you. Even when your kids go astray, don't compromise. Because if you compromise, they won't have anything to come home to. I'm saying to you, the best model, the best position of a Christian father and parent is Luke chapter 15, where the father is waiting on the prodigal son to come back home, and he does five things. He sees these filled with compassion. He's not judgmental. He runs toward him. He hugs him. He kisses him. What a roadmap. Back home. Now, that's what you got to be for your kids. I want to encourage you today. The light is always on, and the door is always open. But don't compromise. It may be that you're here in our service today. You're one of our campuses. You're online. You're struggling with sexual identity. I'm telling you, run to Jesus and find your identity in the one who made you. It may be that today you're in one of our campuses, or you're watching online, and you've had an abortion, and there's pain and hurt that comes with that run to Jesus. Find the forgiveness. Find the healing that only comes in the name of Jesus. You say, Pastor, why do you mention those two things? Because this November, in this state, Virginia, there are two constitutional amendments that deal with marriage and deals with life. And I want you to know, hear me out now,

I want you to know that they're deceptive in the way they're written. As if we don't pass them that same-sex marriages can't take place. They take place all the time in this state, and they will always be able to. Same way with abortion. If we don't pass this, then women can't have access to abortion. Women have access to abortion right now. But what they have done is this. They have taken these words, and I want to read it to you. They are trying to codify LGBTQ ideology in the law by saying that it's regardless of sex, gender, or race. Well, that's the first time I've ever separated sex with gender. Sex is what you're born. Gender is what you claim to be one day or another. And I'm just saying, not only do we have sanctity of life and the definition of marriage at stake, the real thing that's at stake is religious liberty. And so the LGBTQ agenda has been treated like a state religion. And anybody who stands against it commits cultural blasphemy. But I'm going to hold to his name, and I'm going to hold to the faith. And I'm just asking you... I'm just asking you as a Christian. This is not a Republican, Democrat, or independent issue. It's a biblical moral issue. And I'm asking you as a Christian, regardless of political affiliation, wherever you are politically, I don't care. I'm asking you as a Christian to go vote no on both those amendments. Why, the church is to be a change agent. Now, I don't have time to preach this, but I just want to point it out. Everybody knows the model of Christ against culture. The churches that are just against the world, they go separate from the world, they go to isolate from the world, they go try to hide in the basement somewhere. That's not the answer. Because once you get there in that basement and you hide yourself and your kids and your family, evil still there, it's not out there, it's in here.

Christ equals culture, we know that church, the church just affirms everything the culture says. but culture's not bad, it's not sinful." Then there's Christ and culture in paradox. And that's really the picture of a house. Francis Schaeffer said, "There's a two-story house, and down here on the bottom is public, and up here in the second floor is private." It's kind of like a White House. You can go, and anybody can tour the first floor. It's public, but you're not going up there where they sleep. That's private. And there's always been an elevator, always been a staircase between the two. But now and our day, here's what we're being told. There's a wall of separation. And you keep your faith up here, and you keep it away from the secular down here. The only problem with that is they don't apply it to anything but Christianity. Every other world view is welcome in this world, including Sharia law, and that'll scare everybody to death. Don't listen to my podcast. That's all I'm going to say. Don't listen to the podcast this month. I talked a lot about it. But the bottom line is this. We've got to be salt and light. I don't care if it's unwelcome or not.

Jesus didn't say you can compartmentalize your life, and your faith is just for Sunday, and Monday through Saturday, you're secular. No! I mean, Jesus is Lord of every area of our life. And I'm telling you, the answer is Christ transforms the culture. And so what we've got to get back to is this, that yes, God made everything, and it was good, and then sin, the fall brought all the evil into the world. And Jesus came to redeem and restore, to gain back what the enemy took away from us. And so I want you to know, we've got to reclaim art and law and education and science and politics and education and sports and media. Jesus makes all things new. Put your hands together and praise God. (congregation applauding) And look at what he says here in verse 17. Let anyone who has ears to hear what the Spirit says to the churches. And that's really the question of what's the Spirit saying to you today? What are the pointed areas, sharp areas, that God is putting his finger on in your life today? To the one who conquers, I will give some of the hidden manner. Now what's he talking about? Matter is what God gave them every day fresh

for 40 years in the wilderness. What Jesus say in John 6, "I am the bread of life." He'll prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemy. It's the 23rd Psalm. Go to the book of Revelation. He says, "Come eat with me. I will feed you." Don't you understand that the church is the bride of Christ and he is going to take us to the marriage supper of the Lamb. He says, "Man, you come eat at my table." He said, "I'll also give you a white stone." Now what's the white stone? A white stone is what they would give someone if they were found not guilty. And I want you to know if you'll run to Jesus today, you'll receive a white stone. And because of the blood of Christ, you'll receive the white stone of not guilty. Debt's been paid in full, record is clean. Hallelujah. A friend would give another friend a white stone. In the Old Testament, the priest would wear this vestment, Urum and Thummim, that is called, and in it, there was a white stone and a black stone. And if they wanted to know, was God telling us to do something, yes or no? If they brought up the white stone, it was yes. You said, "Well, I'd love to have that today. No, you wouldn't.

We've got some badness in that. We've got the Holy Spirit who lives in us, who leads us and guides us into all truth." And then look at this, and on that stone, a new name is inscribed that no one knows except the one who receives it. You're going to get a new name if you know Jesus. Tammy's dad, my wife's dad, he had a glimpse of heaven right before he died. We were in the hospital room and he was just looking up into heaven and he was telling everything that he was seeing. And I began to type on my computer as fast as I could and try to capture it all. And I remember near the end of it, he said, "And they're giving me a new name." His wife was standing there by the bed, Miss Laverne said, "Why is it?" And he whispered, he said, "I can't tell you." Well, it says right there, nobody knows it, except the one who received it. Now, if you love somebody, sometimes you'll give them a name, a pet name or a nickname. You know what I'm talking about? God loves you. And let me tell you, and all I did, he sent his son Jesus to die for you and forgive you of your sins. He wants you to spend eternity with him. God's got more. Everybody say more.

Thank God that we've launched campuses around Hampton Roads. Thank God we've adopted churches like Fairview Heights and York River, but there's so much more to be done. I want to invite you. This month, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, the 18th, 19th, 20th, we're going to be at York River, Hampton and Gloucester, talking about the new vision that God's given us, the next step in the story of liberty. And I want you to know, there's more, more for you personally, more for our church. And I would love to share it with you. I would love you to come out, enjoy the worship, and Miss Tammy and I'll be there, and I'm going to share what God has laid on our heart. Just like there's seven letters to seven churches, we believe God's given us a letter for our church and what He wants to do in the next seven years. They don't stand there today, sit there today, watch online today, saying, I got plenty of time. I'll trust Jesus someday. I'll be baptized someday. I'll go to life track and join the church someday. I'll get in a group someday. Someday I'm going to turn and I'm going to follow the Lord Jesus. Let me tell you, someday is no day, today's the day. And that's why every one of our campuses, we do have life track and we just, hey, lunch is on us. Child care is provided. It's raining today. You might as well stay for lunch. Some of you have been coming for nine, ten years, never officially called it home. Some of you, this is your very first day. Just come find out more about who we are as a church, what we believe, and how you fit in in this body of Christ. I really hope that you'll come and stay today, everybody say today. Today is the day. God speaking. Where are you in your relationship with Him? Where do you stand spiritually? God knows and you know. The real question is what you're going to do about it, about with me for prayer. Just right where you are. If you don't have assurance that when you die, he'll be your home. Let today be the day. He'll make all things new. You say, "Dear Lord Jesus, I know I'm a sinner. I know I can't save myself. I'm not trusting in religion. I'm not trusting in morality. I am trusting in the cross your death, your shed blood to save my soul. Adopt me into your family. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Give me assurance that when I die, heaven will be my home. Then I'll spend eternity with you and help me live the rest of my life following you, finding my purpose, fulfilling the reason for which you put me here on this earth. Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus' day, and everyone say it. Amen. Man, what a powerful message today.
