And boy, I'll tell you, if you were the Jewish audience here in this, the first time, you would have, and Jesus was here, you'd have emptied the building. You would have emptied the building. I know we're on this side of the equation, but if you heard Jesus Christ say that for the first time, some of you most solid believers would have probably walked out on him because they did then. These are the tough things, but what is Jesus trying to get at?

And I'm telling you, you will shake your head. Not, they didn't just then, you will shake. Get even now because he is making a very heavy point here in these shake your head moment sayings So look what he says, let's go to verse 53. So everybody's gathered around member. They still got the they still got The fish and the bread on their breath. They all got fish breath He's fed 15,000 Probably 5,000 men 5,000 probably somewhere in there thousands of people. He just fed him Coming off the heels of this not too far. He says this so Jesus said again and He makes an eating reference. That's that's like you Pentecostals charismatics. You don't smoke drink or cuss. You just love to eat So Jesus said let's make it let's talk about eating here Jesus said I tell you the truth unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and Drink his blood You cannot have eternal life within you whoa but anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise that person at the last day. He's raising him from the dead For my flesh is true food And my blood is true drink anyone who eats my flesh drinks my isn't this gory and gross and Drinks my blood remains in me and I in that person Let's go to verse 60 because here's where they left the building Many of his disciples said great concert, but we're not sticking around This is very hard to understand how can anyone accept this I'm changing churches That's the rife Google paraphrased edition, okay, it's just my little commentary on the side Jesus was aware That his disciples the followers of Jesus were complaining oh by the way how many believe God inhabits our praise

How many believe God inhabits our praise he dwells in it okay if God inhabits our praise then tell me who inhabits your complaining Who inhabits your criticism of your family your kids your church your country who if God inhabits the praises Doesn't mean you don't deal with stuff. That's problems, but if God inhabits come praise then who inhabits the griping of God's people Okay, we need to take another offering that was another one just gonna be bombs all day today. Just go and he said Does that offend you Does it offend you It sure did It shook everybody up now. Here's what Jesus made some hard sayings And I'll tell you what when he says eat my flesh, and then he says drink my blood Who around here is thinking the same thing I am is This dude talking to us about being cannibals Is he saying eat my flesh drink my blood Let me help you just a little bit here just for a second What Jesus is saying to these people because I'm gonna point it out here because he pointed out is that you just cannot be an Occasional admirer of Jesus we've got a lot of Christians in America and around the world We got even people that don't even follow Jesus that admire him Respect him look at his words and give mental assent with the nod of their head But Jesus says if you're gonna follow me you cannot be an admirer occasionally of me I must become your total and complete source of life That's what he's saying here. That's the point They got all grossed out over here, and I'll tell you why they got grossed out in just a minute We're going a little deeper into this. We'll get deeper in this but what Jesus is saying to those Disciples then and the disciples that are here watching online on vacation wherever you are Jesus is saying if you're gonna bear the name of the follower of Jesus Christ Jesus is saying I will not be sampled I

must be sustaining in your life How many love Costco Come on how many love Costco How many of you love the samples at Costco? Man, that was the worst mistake Costco made, was put it in here in Dutch country. That was the dumbest mistake they ever did, because we all have to figure out when they're going to put the samples out, don't we? So you load up the kids and say, listen, kids, here's dinner tonight, okay, and we're going to go through your sample kits, scarf it down. How many of you love the samples at Costco? I love when they do the samples. I love it. Some of us time our visits to Costco based on the samples. Don't lie. Do not lie. But this is not Costco Christianity. Jesus said, you cannot be casual about this. He says, what I'm telling you is that food and drink cannot be casual, because when you have food and drink, how many know it is not in a casual event? Okay, I know many of you admire food, but how many know that when you have food in front of you, it's not something you sit there and just admire, okay? But that's not why you bought it. That's not why you spent the money, to admire it. You didn't buy the meal to study the meal, to see how it was laid. You didn't get there to study. You went there going, I taste a hint of lavender in this. I mean, you're not there to study it and then walk away. You don't take the food and then hang it on your wall to admire as a piece of art, because it was such so pretty when it came on the plate.

The ultimate reason of why you bought that food was not to study it, admire it, to hang it on the wall and say, isn't that lovely? You bought that food to take it inside of your body, because when it comes in your body, it becomes the source of your life. And without it, you die. You get faint. You get weary. You quit. And here's what Jesus is saying. He is saying to the disciples, notice these are not people who hate him. These are people who love him, admire him and respect them. These are not the haters at this big dinner on the grounds. It's the followers of Jesus and he say to them, if you truly want to follow me, I cannot simply be a part of your life. I must be the totality and the entire source for you to exist. And some of those followers of Jesus were offended, offended. And boy, Jesus goes through it. I mean, he goes through it and they're all going like some of us, we're not doing it now openly, but we're going, you got to be kidding me. Is he going to be on this series for how many more messages? Jesus was making a point. So what was he pointing out here? Now remember, these are not the people who hate God. In fact, I'll just going to be honest with you, I'm going to say this again. I think fake Christians are more dangerous than non-Christians. And we'll circle back around on that just for a minute. But what's the point here? Jesus was pointing out some categories of what really was happening. He says, I have to be the total. I can't be sampled.

I cannot be sampled. I must be sustaining, totally sustaining for your life is what he's saying. Outside of that, you cannot have eternal life. And those are the ones that I will raise back to life. Because what he had first of all, was what he has, we even have now and that he had then. He knew he had people that were consumer Christians. We call it consumer Christianity. Now remember, this is coming off of the heels of him just feeding 5,000 people with fish and chips. And they probably wanted it fried, but Jesus, could you fry that for me? Consumer Christianity. Here's what John 6, 2 says. This is really interesting what it says. It says a huge crowd, a huge crowd, a huge crowd kept following him wherever he went because they saw his miraculous signs as he healed the sick. They were following him because of what he could give them as they consumed. That's what they were following him for. Some did it. It's what people were casually following Jesus Christ. But here's what Jesus is saying about true Christianity, authentic Christianity. Authentic Christianity has to be more than just doing good and being good. Some people, Christianity is just, you be good and you do good and you get in. That theology you will listen to at most funerals you have attended. He was a good man. And somehow he's in. she's in because she did good she was good she was a sweet little grandma that's the theology you hear at a lot of funerals you attend but Jesus said that kind of Christianity says I want to follow Jesus but I want to follow him on my terms what can I get I like Jesus on my terms I'm I want Jesus on my conditions we do church that way do they sing the songs I like well I don't like

hearing this stuff about commitment I want to hear stuff about blessing what Jesus has become to the consumer Christian is nothing more than a business partner you do your part I do my part but he's not Savior he's not Lord he is merely commercial to you and what what and what we're really saying is this is what we're really saying consumer Christians and when you and I do this what we're really saying is I can I be happy and still hold on to the controls of my life that's what they're saying can I be happy and still hold on to the controls my life here's what Jesus is telling us and showing us in all this you can either have faith in him or you can have control but you cannot have both because the real issue of consumer Christianity is I want it on my terms I want to control it I what what will Jesus do for me today that's consumer Christianity that is the exactly what has happened to the people all through the Word of God when you see God bringing the children Israel out of out of out of Egypt I mean didn't he do some crazy wild stuff I mean he I mean he all the firstborn have died you've seen all the plagues happen he brings them out and parts the Red Sea they go crossed on dry land drowns all of Pharaoh's army kills them all wipes them out leads him by a pillar of fire night cloud by day gives them manna I mean gives them manna they get tired of manna they gripe he gives them quail meat they've seen water come out of a rock these folks have seen for the first 90 days of coming out of the bondage of the pitcher of sin Egypt they have seen the performance of God so now Moses goes up to hear from God because he's a source of life and he's up on the mountain he's getting instruction for God for life what are your words God what have you given us he gives them ten instructions that they have to follow ten commandments but while he's up there do you remember what happened they quickly begin to create a golden calf back to the demonic Egypt's of Egypt Egyptian gods of the past and Aaron says it just suddenly appeared let me tell you why they created the golden image which was a demonic practice and here they just saw God save them deliver them they didn't turn into atheists everybody people think they turned about they didn't turn to atheism that's not

what they did do you know what destroyed them they said what happened to that fellow Moses he'd been gone 40 days well we don't even know what's happened to him do you know what destroyed them it was impatience when you're in the wilderness and God is not doing the things you want because you base him on consumerism he didn't give me the job my boyfriend dumped me my marriage didn't work out the church said something that offended me and it didn't work out your way so in your impatience you want control instead of trusting God in the process of your wilderness consumer oh that's our we just went to ring I lost my notes oh there's somebody at my front door go away go to church why aren't you in church okay I'll preach no matter what platform you give me baby I'll do it off ring but here's what happens consumer Christianity is not exposed in your heart or my heart until God gives us the hard statements like eat my flesh drink my blood because when I have to perform for you the performance and the miracles and the provision and your job going right and things working out the way you decided have actually become your meat and your drink and he is not and that's why Jesus Christ says I say these hard statements because I will not be sampled by you Sam I must be your sustaining life when I tell you the tough things you don't like to hear But many will go to another place I Can't take it Jesus is saying I must be preeminent. I'm not gonna be your teacher I'm not gonna be your inspiration of your screensaver that you saved when you saw something really cute about God holding you up That's wonderful, but he says I got to be more than that. I must be the center the control I must be the heart of every source of thing because I am NOT inspiration for your life. I am the sustenance of your life That's what he's saying here to you and me Have you ever met people Have you ever met people maybe you and I were one of those people That the moment that person walked out on you or the moment they said something that offended you

Or the moment they lost their health or the moment they lost their money. They lost their spouse They they had a suffered a loss in her life that all of a sudden they completely fall apart and just want to end life Why? Jesus is trying to show you and me that that is actually Person that person that thing that event your position your status your looks has actually become your food and drink and he is not That's what he's trying to show us and They starve Because the money the position The growth that actually became the food and drink Jesus is saying I cannot be Occasionally sampled by you Samurai of Kogel Jesus father. He cannot be sampled when you want him He must be at the core in the center of every single issue and wilderness of your life So, you know How many have ever gone on a trip? And okay, great. You're gonna trip you. Oh, so you got money. Oh, okay How many have ever been on a trip and forgot your phone charger And What do you do I Mean you're you're going everywhere go find a phone charger front desk. You got a phone charger I'm gonna judge your why because I'm gonna be cut off from all communication But why are you needing the phone charger because your battery went down So now every time you go to plug your phone in at night, I want you to remember this You know that that phone will not operate and you cannot communicate because you know that thing is dying And It's got to be plugged in in order for you to have connection with communication Do your banking everything and if that phone dies? It's over and the problem that's reason why it's dying is because it got disconnected from this and Here's what Jesus is saying You can't treat me like your cell phone and occasionally plug me in when you start seeing the battery going down You can't live like that

you cannot do that and Jesus is saying the only way is for you to say sustained in the tough times to hear my voice in The times where you're wondering in the wilderness when you've suffered a loss and you didn't get what you want. He said don't Disconnect from me. He said keep this thing charged up. You will never lose your power. You'll never lose your source of strength You'll never lose your direction if you remain connected to me, that is the reason why he said these words in John 15 He says I am divine You are the branches those who that remain in me and I in them you will continue to produce much fruit For apart from me you can do nothing. You gotta stay charged in The only time I consume is when I need it Jesus is chicken soup for the soul for you and me I'll tell you I'm getting a little put out that those songs they sing consumer Christianity I Can't believe pastor said that consumer Christianity Well, they just don't have enough for my group You know, I'm trying to find my place place to fit in and I can find my place But I'm sorry, but you and I can get very consumer Christianity I'm not the source The lighting is not the source. The programs are not the source. There are wonderful things to enjoy because God gives them to you But he says apart from me when you unplug your phone it starts dying the moment you unplug it So stay tapped into the source, enjoy your husband, enjoy your wife, enjoy your kids, enjoy your lake home, enjoy your money. But apart from Jesus Christ, it will all die. It's going to die. But staying connected to the vine, you will produce much fruit and the fruit is going to remain. I promise. It'll be fruit that counts. What happened to my iPad? Oh, it's over here. Jesus says, but that's not the only issue because my heart saying are for the followers.

So please don't get offended at me. I'm just the delivery boy. You don't beat up the pizza hut guy because your pizza order was wrong. He just bringing the, bringing the pizza. He said, my heart sayings here and you're shaking your head because I'm exposing, not just consumer mentality, but I'm exposing counterfeit Christianity. People who look like disciples, some of them can Shandai the wallpaper off the wall and speak in tongues, but they are not truly surrendered to Jesus Christ. Let me share what I'm talking about. Let's go to verse 64. We're going to just hit a couple of verses here. Just take a look at it here. For Jesus knew from the beginning, which ones didn't believe him. And he knew who would what? So they're following, they're going to drop out. They're going to drop out at this point. Many of his disciples, these are not haters. These are not the antagonists. This is, this is, this is not the world out there that hates your Jesus and hates your God right now. That's not who we're talking about. He says his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the 12th and ask, are you also going to leave? Are you going to leave? See hard truths reveal shallow faith. It really exposes the heart and it reveals the hidden things. You know why some diseases are so deadly? The reason why they're so deadly, they call them a deadly disease. Most of them, they call a disease deadly. It's because that disease is usually hidden.

So the person can actually be healthy, smiling, functioning, doing all these things, but inside they're internally dying, but they don't know because there's something hidden down there. And Jesus is the kind that doesn't let the hidden remain. He immediately brings it up. So a person can look healthy, go through all three. That's the same thing that happens spiritually. I can actually be preaching the gospel and be dying inside spiritually. I can be going through the routine. I can attend church, sing the worship, call myself a Christian, but still not truly belong to him when he says the hard things and I have to go through the hard things. If he's really God, why did he let that happen? Just imagine the moment. He said, everybody likes to throw the word megachurch around. Well, he had a megachurch. Thousands were following, 15,000 showing up, pretty big. Thousands are following him and they're following him because these miracles raised in the dead open in blind eyes. I mean, it is an attractional place and an attractional person to be around Jesus Christ. Thousands are following him, but when he demanded surrender from his crowd, they start shrinking. Remember, just a few moments ago, they're going, make him king, make him king, make him king. And the next statement, the disciples are going, we're leaving. They're just like, that's what began to happen here. See people love a miracle. They love miracles until the miracle worker demands they surrender every issue of their life. He does it to us. See hard sayings and hard times exposes false followers. It does every time. It does every single time.

Easy. Listen, easy seasons, gather crowd, hard truths, reveal disciples. Crowds disappear in hardship, but discipleships and disciples are forged in the hardship and in the hard things. Because I promise you, shallow roots, they can survive sunshine, but deep roots can survive the storms because they were not anchored to their life, they were not anchored to their money, they're not anchored to their spouse, they're not anchored to their church, they are anchored to Jesus Christ, the solid rock, and the gates of hell cannot prevail against that one. They survive. What is Jesus saying when we become counterfeit Christians? He's saying, here again, I will not be sampled. I must be sustaining in your life. I'm it. And boy, when the counterfeit Christians heard this, they were disciples. Buddy, they choked. And I said it earlier, a counterfeit Christian can do more harm than a non-Christian because they cause people to reject authentic Christianity when it finally appears. Let me repeat that because it's very convicting to your pastor. Counterfeit Christians are more dangerous than non-Christians because they cause people to reject authentic Christianity, the authentic Christ

when he finally appears. There's a revival happening. How many declare there is a revival happening in America? There is a revival happening in the house of God. It's happening right now. It's happening right now. There's a revival, a calling back to God. But why has it been that so many people sometimes do not want the message of Jesus Christ when it finally appears? Because they get a lot of these. They get a lot of these. Where's my camera? It's a long walk in this church, everybody. I'm gonna get my 10,000 in yet, amen. They get a lot of these. No, no, no, it's a Susan B. Anthony dollar. A lot of you don't have one. It's a dollar, it's a dollar. Listen, I think it can get you one of those chicken sandwiches at McDonald's after service. One dollar. It can get you that. But a lot of you don't have one. Do you know why you don't have one? Because you don't want it. Do you know why you don't want it? Because they took it out of circulation. The United States government took this out of circulation. Do you know why they took it out of circulation?

I'll tell you the reason why they took it out. This is the main reason. Because it looked too much like that. Oh, turn around. That George there. Is he upside down? Oh, he's not upside down. It looked too much like that. It was something less value. And they said, why would I want this when it always looks like me? Why would I want something that looks like me anyway and no one sees the value of it? And that's what counterfeit Christianity does. It makes you look at something and they say, I already, so you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you have happiness. I have happiness too. Just pass me a beer. But then you, wait a minute. Oh, so you hate my boss. You hate the boss as much as I hate the boss. Oh, and you're, you want me to follow Jesus? Oh, so you're after service, you're going to talk about somebody, somebody, somebody in the church, the kid is sitting there and how you didn't like what was said and how one preacher did you wrong and everything. And, and, and they said, why would I follow that? When I already, you have the same thing I have.

It just seems with no value. God bless you. You've been a great crowd. Dismissed. I'm sorry. This is not a Tony Robbins rah-rah session for everybody, but it's what really gives eternal life and sustaining life that survives. It really does. You say, pastor, man, can anybody achieve it? I'm just going to be honest with you. I've been serving Jesus Christ a long time. And I find my moments of consumer Christianity. And then I can find my moments of being a counterfeit Christian and say, buddy, but here's the difference between consumers, consumer Christianity, counter, counterfeit. Christianity and consecrated Christianity That's what I'm talking about consecrated Christianity authentic It doesn't mean they're perfect. In fact, they don't even have times just just admit it You don't have to raise your hand that sometimes you and I go to consumer Christianity and counterfeit Christianity, but here's the difference Those who remain consumers and those who will not deal with the counterfeit. Here's what happens Counterfeit Christianity is always questioning everybody else's heart But consecrated Christians are always examining their own and The moment consumerism gets in they return the moment the counterfeit gets in they return Because when they're plugged into the vine the vine will not allow them to remain that way Doesn't mean you don't ever hit it because you will hit it. I've hit it

You'll hit counterfeit times But the difference is is when you stay consumer and when you stay a counterfeit you are saying well if I was pastor I don't know if I was them and I can can you believe they say they're a Christian and they're letting them take up the Offering can you believe you're questioning everybody else's heart? But the one that is connected and consecrated to Jesus is always saying what about me True disciples Stay when the truth gets tough difficult and the times get difficult Others walked away. So Jesus verse 67. I'm coming in for a landing. Okay, I'll try to be done by 1130 That's Just my consumer advertisement Verse 67 Then Jesus turned to the 12 because there's always the group That are questioning themselves instead of questioning everybody else Then Jesus turned to the 12 and asked are you also going to leave me? Simon Peter replied Lord To whom would we go You have the words You are the word That gives eternal life we believe and We know You are the Holy One of God In other words, you are the source of life Everything else will come and go It successes is wonderful to go fun times with your family the money it's all gonna go all of that stuff perishes But you never will where else is there life outside of you? Now here's why they're tripping out over this is why the Jewish audience is wigging out. Let me tell you whether we get out Okay, you're just gonna know that's just gross. Let me tell you why they're wigging out Because you got to go all the way back to Leviticus 17

When the instruction was God told them you never eat any living creature or eat any Blood of a living creature.
