Revival Nights | Night 3 | Pastor Brad White

are here. What an honor to be with you. Pastor Tim, thank you so much for this opportunity to be here. Don't you love pastors Tim and Steph? Aren't they the best? Just love them. The best. Stand up, that's good, stand up, that's good. Known pastors Tim and Steph a long time and just love you, honor you. What an honor to be with you. You're a legendary church. I love your new building. Isn't this great? I had the privilege when I was here several years ago I got to come out and see this before you guys got it and we prayed over it and it's just awesome. I love rooms this size because I love the energy of a packed house. It's awesome. So it's just so great to be here and I just want to for the next few moments I just want to help you if I can. And so I want to share a simple truth with you to help you to help all of us become more like Jesus. So here's the question. What do you do when you don't know what to do? Has anybody ever been in a, maybe you are tonight, a I don't know what to do moment? If you, thank you for your hands, I'm with you. If you're not in that moment don't get comfortable because in your future is a moment when you just don't know what to do. So I don't know what brings you to that tonight. Maybe it's you're in between the prayer and the answer to the prayer. You know the Christian life except for brief moments is lived in between. You're gonna live the majority of your life on earth following Jesus in between asking God for it and seeing God do it. You're gonna live in the middle. And how you live in the middle determines the level of depth and growth that happens in your life. Because most people bail in the middle. They get mad at God in the middle. They leave church in the middle. They walk it because they asked God to heal their mom. God did not heal their mom on this side of the grave and so they go. Now there are moments in your life because He is a good God that you live in the moments of answer. You live in the moments of provision. You live, you see God do what only God can do. But those moments are not the majority. The majority is lived in the middle. That's why Jesus said in Luke chapter 8, the kingdom of God is like a farmer that goes to scatter seed. See in those days they were like a shoulder pouch full of seed and they would go out into a field they would

just throw the seed in the field. He said you're like a farmer that's sowing the seed. And some of the seed is gonna fall on a footpath and it's hard like this stage and it never penetrates but a bird comes down and gets it and takes it away. And some of it's gonna fall on rocky soil where it's gonna penetrate. It's not as hard as the footpath but it's gonna penetrate but it's never able to get the roots down so when the sun begins to burn hot it shrivels and dies. And some's gonna go into what is good soil but as it begins to grow there's thorn bushes around it and the thorns wrap around it like a python and suck the life out of it. But he said some will fall on soil that's tender and moist and it will produce a harvest that's a hundredfold. So the disciples said Jesus where is this field? Who's the farmer? They were dense okay. That's why we relate to him so well amen. They were dense okay and they're like you know. Do we need to meet this farmer? And Jesus said, no, no, listen, listen, you're the farmer, and you're gonna scatter the seed. The seed's the gospel. Just like I'm gonna do for the next few moments, I'm gonna throw seed. And in this room, there are people that their heart's like a footpath. They're here to appease someone else. They're here because they promised they would come, but their heart is hard. And you're just counting down the moments so you can get in your truck and leave. That's why your life doesn't change. It's why you live, you're living in this cul-de-sac of insanity in your life. And there's this pattern that repeats the problem over and over and over, and you've been blaming others for the cul-de-sac you're living in. He said, some you'll throw the seed to, they're really hungry, but it'll go down, and it won't go down far, because they can't handle the time it takes in the middle for the root system to go down. So when God doesn't do what they think should be done, they turn and leave. When they don't like something, they leave a church quickly. They are, this is, by the way, this is why, this is why you need to be in a church-like momentum where you get preaching that's not just fluff. It's not just, you're good, God's good, God wants you to be rich, God never wants you to have problems. If you have problems, that's not God. No, that's what you call heresy. People love that stuff, but see,

your root system never goes down. Some, in here, it'll hit, and man, you're hungry. But there's so many distractions in your life. There's a distraction of relationships, and jobs, and soccer, and trying to please this person and that person, and there's so many distractions in your life that you're trying to grow, and you're coming, and you're trying, you're making progress, but there's just so many distractions. But in this room, there are hearts that the seed is gonna hit, and your heart is supple and tender, and through your life, God's gonna produce something through you that only He could do, and that only He deserves the glory for. Now what I want to show you with this shovel is how that heart happens. Because it's not just like, bam, it hits me, and I produce it. What's the difference in the hundred-fold heart versus the shallow heart? What's the difference in the hundred-fold heart and the one that's choked by thorns? What's the, what on the ground in the raw and the real, what is the difference in that heart? Let's go to 2 Kings chapter number 3. Let me set the context here real quickly. So the land that we know as the nation of Israel today, if you were to look on a map, at this time, that nation was divided in half. The northern part was known as Israel. The southern part was known as Judah. So everything north of Jerusalem, all the way up into what we would know as Lebanon today, was Israel. And Israel had a new king. His name was Joram. Say Joram. Joram was the son of Ahab and Jezebel. So he came from a dysfunctional family. When he became king, he inherited a business relationship that his dad had established with Misha, the king of Moab. And it was a trade deal of sheep and livestock. When Ahab died, and now Joram is king, Misha said, I don't want that. I'm gonna go to war and take what is Israel's. So Joram, a new young king, he reaches out to Jehoshaphat. Say Jehoshaphat. He's the king of Judah. And he says, can you help me defeat Moab? And Jehoshaphat says, my soldiers are your soldiers. My horses are your horses. I'm with you. And he said, why don't we grab the king of Edom on the way? Edom was in the southern part, the southeast part of what we would know as the nation of Israel today, towards the southern part of the Dead Sea. So Joram goes down, he picks up

Jehoshaphat, they go down, they pick up the king of Edom, and they go around the southern tip of the Dead Sea to the eastern side of the land of Moab, which is where the nation of Jordan is today. And they get there, it took them seven days, and they ran out of water. Now in our day, we just stopped by the Circle K. Back then, and there's in that part of the world, even to this day, the majority of the year, it's dry. There's a few moments that they get rain, but it's mostly dry, but it's lush land. So all of the riverbeds were dry, there was no water. The Bible says the soldiers were dropping down, and the horses were dropping dead, and it was getting bad. And so they said, so Joram, young king, dysfunctional family, shallow roots. He says, well I guess that's what happens. He just leads us out here to go against Moab, and he's gonna let us die. And Jehoshaphat said, well I've heard there's a prophet of God that lives nearby. His name's Elisha. And Joram said, well let's go find him. So the three of them, they go and they find Elisha. And they go to Elisha. Now understand, Elisha's a real guy. For the Bible nerds in here, or those of you that want to be Bible nerds, Elisha's a real guy. He really lives. He's a real dude like me or like Pastor Tim. But he's also an Old Testament picture of Jesus. So the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed. The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed. The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. Okay? So what's concealed in Elisha is a picture of what will later be revealed in Jesus. So they go to Elisha. That's where we pick up the story. Verse 13, 2nd Kings chapter number 3. Verse 16, excuse me. And he said, this is what the Lord says. But before he does that, let me tell you what he does before that. When they go to see him, he says, what, what do you, why are you coming to see me? He said, Joram, why don't you go to the pagan gods of your dad and mom? They said, no, we came to you. He said, bring me a harp. Now why does that matter? Because worship matters. So he goes, he goes in and he has somebody begin to play the harp. And Elisha prays. And he comes back out and he says this in verse 16. And he said, this is what the Lord says. Dig ditches, say ditches, all over this dry stream bed. You don't have to say that part. Just the dig ditch part. But I love the energy. All right. Those are some of those hundredfold

hearts out there. All right. Verse 17, even though you will not see any rain or wind, now watch this. This stream bed will be filled with water. There's gonna be no clouds. There will be no wind. But all of a sudden water will appear. God's gonna bring the water but not through the way you think he'll do it. Watch. And the stream better be filled with water for you your livestock and your pack animals will have plenty to drink. And Elisha continued but he said but this is an easy thing for the Lord to do. Somebody here needs to hear this. You're in a situation that you don't know what to do and the problem you're trying to solve seems so big and insurmountable but it's an easy thing for the Lord to do. He will also give you victory over the Moabites. Down to verse 20. The next morning at the time of the regular morning sacrifice water came flowing from the direction of Edom. Edom is south so water flowed from the south to the north from the direction of Edom and covered the ground. So here's what happens. After this happens the king of Moab goes up on the hilltop to look down at where the nation of Israel was the army of Israel in the valley. And the sun's reflecting on this water and because of the soil that was in the riverbed this water takes on a reddish color. And he looks down and he says guys this is gonna be an easy day for us. These fools already killed each other. Look at all the blood in the valley because he had no idea the water had come. So they laid their swords down he said let's just go down and take plunder. They go down to take plunder take all the spoils and they're in for the surprise of their life. And the nation of Israel defeats them. This king goes on the run so fast that when he gets outside of the range of bows and army he sacrifices his own son to appease the pagan gods that he think has turned against him. Now the principle is this. Go dig the ditches and make the stream bed full of ditches. Because God's gonna send the rain. Life in the middle between the asking and the receiving is a life of digging ditches. Now people don't want to dig ditches but they do want to drink the water. But water without ditches becomes a catastrophe and washes them away. Digging the ditch was the preparation for the provision that was

coming. If you don't dig when it's dry you won't be able to drink when the water comes. The difference the difference in the shallow soil and the hundred-fold soil is not they're better people. The difference is they can dig it when it's dry. Here's the history. We don't know how long they dug. We just know they did. So I've entitled this message, Dig It Baby, Dig It. Say it with me. Say, Dig It Baby. Dig It Baby. Dig It Baby. Make the valley full of ditches. Now there's three parts of the story. We have the dirt. The dirt is your life. The stream bed is your life. It's your body, it's your mind, it's your education, it's your marriage, it's your dating relationships, it is your finances, it is your marriage, it is your relationship with your parents, it is your life. Every miracle starts in the dirt. The miracle starts in your yard, not their yard. Your growth begins in your yard. The dirt is tonight. The dirt is where you don't know what to do. Then we got the shovel. The shovel is what I have in my hand. This is the money I have right now. This is my talent. This is what I'm good at. This is my education. This is my intellect. It's my ability. It's what I have right now. And then we got the digging. See, you can have the dirt and you can have the shovel, but because you have the shovel doesn't mean you dig. I've been pastoring a long time. I've been pastoring over 30 years. And I've pastored hundreds and thousands of people that had amazing shovels, but the shovel stayed clean.

Because all because you have the shovel doesn't mean you dig. Say, dig it, baby. One more time, dig it, baby. Digging is the next step of faith in your life. It's the next step of obedience. The Christian life, how people grow, you do not grow by learning. All the school teachers are like, hang with me. You don't grow by learning. You and I, we're Westerners. We grew up in the West. We are the product of Plato and Platoic thinking. So I'm going to use the analogy of making pancakes. In the West, here's how we would learn how to make pancakes. We're going to study recipes about pancakes. We're going to watch YouTube and TikTok videos of how to make pancakes. We're going to watch cooking shows of how to make pancakes. But we never make the pancakes. See, in the West, learning is learning. That's why somebody can go to church for 30 years and be mean as a devil. That's why they can go to more Bible studies than there are days in the week and treat their wife terribly or their husband terribly. Here's how somebody can go to church for 25 years at Momentum Church, come in every week, enjoy it, love it. Their kids are served.

And they never learn to tithe. They steal, rob God after 25 years because learning is learning. You're watching YouTubes on pancake making. You're reading recipes on pancake making. But you never learn to make pancakes. What? Now, what, what, what? In the world that Jesus is in, okay, you'll learn to make pancakes by making pancakes. You'll watch your mama make them, and you learn to make them. And the first ones you make are hard. And so you learn to put more milk or buttermilk in the mix. Or they're real thin, like a tortilla. And your mama says, put more baking soda in the mix. You learn to make it by making it. And over time, you learn how to make them. The way you grow in the Christian life is not learning about people who dig. The way you grow in the Christian life is you dig. You with me? Now. So, three things about digging, then y'all can head to Waffle House. All right, number one, I gotta dig where I am. You can't dig in tomorrow. You can't dig in two years ago, which, by the way, that's a word for somebody. I'm talking to somebody, you're trying to correct a mistake from two years ago. You're trying to carry the shame and the guilt of something two years ago. You can't repair two years ago. You can't repair two years from now. Watch, I can only dig in my yard.

You can't dig in somebody else's yard. That's good. That's good. That may not be good English, but that's good preaching. I'm having fun with you. You cannot dig in somebody else's yard. This is why you need to be focused on what you need to do instead of trying to control what they need to do. You can only dig in your yard. That means I'm going to do the best I can to dig with what I have. I can't control my husband changing, but what I can do is I can dig as a wife, and I can love him and love him, and I can dig where I'm at. We can't heal our marriage, but we can go to counseling and dig and dig and dig. I can't change my whole financial situation, but what I can do is get on a budget, stop using credit cards, and we can work together and dig and dig and dig. I can't turn my whole situation around, but I can get on a team here at Momentum Church and serve and dig and dig and dig. I can join a gym and begin to take care of my body and dig and dig. Are you picking up what I'm saying? The digging where you are is doing what you can where you are. And don't worry about what you can't fix. God can take care of what you can't if you will learn to do what you can. God will not do what I can do. So somebody here needs a job or a better job. He does not fill out applications. He doesn't knock on doors. He doesn't—you have a dream of having job A, but God is not going to let you miss out on doing a job you really don't want to do while He prepares the job you really want to do. See, you do what you can do.

If that means four jobs plus Uber right now, that's what you do. You dig. And you dig. And you dig. And you dig. Now listen, as a church as a whole, this is how churches reach people. We have no control over the amount of people that we can get to come to Momentum Church. That's in the hand of God. The Bible says that Jesus, the Holy Spirit, brings the increase. We can't make people get out of bed and come to church. But what we can do is every week we can dig. We can invite people digging. We can, hey, we can join a parking team and dig. We can serve in Momentum Kids and dig. We can do everything we can to remove barriers for people to come to Jesus, and we can dig and dig and dig and dig. And then, you with me? Here's what the Holy Spirit's had to teach me because I like reaching people. Brad, you focus on the digging, I'll focus on the water. Lead to get better. I'll take care of bigger. You lead to get better. How can we love people better? How can we connect people better? How can we make an experience better? How can we shepherd better? How can we do better services to partner with the Holy Spirit? Dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig. Say, dig it baby! Number two, I got to learn to dig without understanding. There was no rain in sight. That riverbed was as hard as concrete. They're out there digging like, what? Is this prophet some kind of loopy? No, no. But we're desperate. We're gonna do it. And they go out and they do what looks like insanity. And we don't know how long they did it. It may have been a day, it may have been ten days, it may have been six months, it may have been four years, we don't know. But they dug. Now listen to me. Those that grow in the middle, the hundred-fold hearts are people that can dig without an answer. Is Jesus, listen to me, is Jesus worth it if you

never see it? Is Jesus worth it if you never get married? Is Jesus enough if your mom doesn't get healed? Is Jesus enough if you never really succeed a whole lot but where you are in life right now? If the problem doesn't leave, is Jesus worth it? The difference in the rocky soil and the thorny soil and the footpath and the hundred-fold heart is people that can dig because they were told to dig. They're just faithful. And they don't believe that God owes them anything. God doesn't owe them a new house or a new car or a new spouse or healing or anything else. He owes me nothing. He gave me himself which is everything. Now listen, that's easier to preach than to live. It's hard living. But what I found is in my life, the more I can dig in the middle with joy, the more I grow. See I don't grow a lot over here. I rejoice a lot over here. And man it's good when it's good. I grow here. And God made it that way because you're gonna spend the majority of your life right here. I'm talking to people in this room, you're mad at God. You're withholding things because you're embittered with God. Because somebody told you that God wants you happy and fulfilled. That's not his priority. He wants you holy and faithful. He's not against you being happy. It's not a priority. Your comfort's not his priority. Your character is his priority. You got to dig in the middle. you got to keep coming see I dig when I pray I dig when I obey and I dig when I stay hear me I dig when I pray this is why Jesus said my house shall be called a house of prayer because prayers digging prayer is the work prayer is the work a friend of mine was in the room with pastor Paul Cho pastor of the largest church in the world and they were some pastors in this small group and they said pastor Cho when you were passing before you retired what did your day look like as a pastor he said I prayed five hours a day and then I played golf he made this statement he said because prayers the work prayers the work when I'm praying I'm digging when I'm praying for my boy I'm digging when I'm praying for my friend I'm digging when I'm praying for my mom and digging when I'm praying for my church I'm digging when I'm praying for my

neighbor I'm digging when I'm praying for my health of digging I'm digging I'm digging I'm digging I'm digging I'm digging I'm digging I'm digging when I obey without understanding I'm digging and when I stay without leaving most people leave the place where the water is gonna flow and they're chasing something for themselves that only the water can fulfill I want to challenge you to be somebody who stays you stay in that marriage you stay in their life you you stay obviously I'm not talking about abusive or illegal you know I'm saying I'm clear some of you're like hot dog I'm out you stay you stay there's something to be said for old-fashioned grit that you hang on like a pit bull on a dishrag you're not letting go I'm gonna stay in this church I'm gonna stay when Pastor Tim is doing things I like I'm gonna stay when I don't understand what Pastor Tim is doing because it's not about my understanding it's about his understanding and I am going to stay I'm gonna dig believe in the water will come you won't stay in the middle long if you don't have hope they say we can live 40 days without food I think seven days without water you can't live a moment without hope but you don't control the water but we can speak to it and believe for it this is the making of warriors this is making of men and women who've got character for days this is the making of men and women who see God do what only God can do you gotta dig I remember in Tampa I don't know if you remember this couple Tim but their names were Eddie and Ashley Eddie served in our sound booth Ashley was on our worship team they dreamed of having a baby I can't tell you how many times we anointed Ashley with oil and Eddie praying for God to give him a baby years at least a decade I mean I can't tell you how many Sundays we would pray during run-through and Ashley would have gotten a report that she wasn't pregnant but I never saw her not worship because of the report knowing that By the way she worshipped, you wouldn't even know there was a problem. She worshipped in the pain. I remember we had moved to Dallas from Tampa, and Steph was like, one day she goes, Brad, come here.

And my wife has one of those screens that can break glass, and also it's the same screen for a $100 and the house is on fire. So it's the same screen. It doesn't have any different nuances to it, so you don't know if we just got a big check or a big problem. So I come run to where she is, she goes, Brad, look at this. And it was a picture of Eddie and Ashley with her holding the sonogram of their baby. He's faithful. I gotta dig and leave all the consequences to Him. My job's not the answer, my job's the obedience. I gotta dig. I gotta dig where I am. You can't dig in somebody else's reality, you gotta dig where you are. So my question is, why aren't you digging? It's time tonight to get it right. I'm gonna stop complaining and start digging. I'm gonna stop making excuses and start making ditches. It's time for people to hit the altar tonight and say, God, I'm putting down my list of things against you, and I'm picking up my shovel to dig for you tonight. I gotta dig without understanding. By the way, you never stop digging. You stop digging when you're dead. The moment you stop taking steps of commitment, you stop growing and you become embittered and entitled and become a pain to be around. Nothing more difficult to be around than a Christian who used to be growing but got too smart and now they're embittered and divisive. Some of you in this room, somebody in this room, you've been divisive. You need to get right with God tonight. Time's running out. You've been running your mouth.

You think you know more than Tim or anybody else. You don't know squat. You need to get your life right with God. You need to hit this altar. You need to make it right with Tim, whoever else. You don't know squat. I love you in Jesus' name, but you don't know squat. You need to get your life right with God. Number one, is I'm going to put down my division and I'm going to start doing digging. Number three, I'm going to dig but leave the waters away. So, I pastored for 22 years in Tampa. That's where I met Cory and Lindsey and Tim and Steph in those days. Then I moved to Dallas, never thought I'd pastor again. Now I'm pastoring again, almost a year in Kentucky. I have friends that'll ask me, why did you get back into pastoring? Why'd you do that? I'll say one of the things I miss the most about pastoring was seeing the water come. There's something about doing life with people and digging as a church family. Digging, digging and watching God bring the water. See, when God brought the water in a way they never expected, it marked them for the rest of their life. And it will do the same thing for you. When you see God do it, when you see God bring it, when you see God change it, when you see God provide for it in a way that you cannot explain, it'll mark you, it'll mark your kids, it'll change their life. And there's something, like being in this building, this building is water. You're not sick.

Standing up and tearing down every week, you're not meeting in a high school or a middle school or elementary school. You're not meeting there. You've seen God. Meet the need. Tim was telling me, your attendance, your attendance has surged by 65%. This room is packed on a Tuesday night. This is doing something for you. You see all these kids packed down here, Worshipman. For some of you, this is doing something. You've never been in a church that has seen anything like that. You're seeing it. It is doing something for you, and it's marking you, and it's marking your kids, and it's marking your grandkids. I missed it, because there's something unbelievable about digging together, and tonight is about a commitment to digging. Some of you used to dig. You used to dig. You stopped digging, and I love you, and you got your heart broke, and you got disillusioned, and you're just, you're here almost like a zombie, spiritually. Tonight's a new night. We'll go pick up the shovel. I'm talking to some couples in here. It's time to start digging. I'm talking to some people, you're in financial stress out the wazoo. It's time to start digging. There's some of you that need to get right with God, and right with people, and start digging. There's some of you in here that need to get saved. You're lost without God.

What are you doing? You think you're going to live forever? No, you're not. Time's running out. You better come to, you're going to bust hell like a ripe watermelon. You need Jesus. Tonight's the night. I'll close with this. Paul Cho, largest church in the world. Long before they were that, they had bought this land on this, so Seoul, Korea had outgrown their population ability, so they had to make a new part of the city. So they filled in out in the ocean and made another whole area of the city, and it was called Yodo. We would spell it Y-O-I-D-O. Well, their church was exploding, so they bought a piece of land and had begun construction on this property. And just the metal framing was up. There was no drywall, no roof, anything like that. And the currency in Korea bottomed out, and people lost everything, and the bank called for the loan to be paid in full on a building that wasn't even built. It put the pastor through so much stress, he was, he was dying physically. He didn't know what to do. So he said, I do know how to dig. It was wintertime, and Seoul gets cold, man. He invited the church to meet him on the slab in that building while the snow was falling. They said, we're gonna pray. Because you know what diggers know how to do? They just dig. They don't get mad, don't throw a fit, they just pick up their shovel and start digging. And he got them together to start praying.

And he got through, there was about a hundred people out there that night on that snow-covered slab in the dead of winter. And he said, I got up and I was gonna make a few announcements to everybody, and then we were gonna dismiss. And I saw a woman. I recognized her. She came down to the front, and she was carrying something wrapped in like a grocery bag. She comes down front, and she unwraps it. And it's a bowl with two chopsticks. And she gave it to the pastor, and he said, ma'am, I can't take this. I know you live on the street. This is the only thing you have. She goes, stop. You said Jesus deserves our everything. This is my everything. Don't stop me from giving Jesus my everything. So people are like, what is she saying? So he tells the story of what just happened to the people. The Holy Spirit just ambushed that place. That night, with 100 people or so, people stepped forward, and in that crowd, many of them that had lost everything, they raised the money to pay off the loan and to finish the construction on the building. He said we ran about 5,000 people at that time on Sundays. Today, we're on over 700,000. Listen, listen, listen, listen. He said you look at all that God's done. It all began with a woman and her bowl and two chopsticks, digging, as Bauer heads to close her eyes. I want to talk to those of you in this room that need to turn to Jesus as your Savior. I'm not asking if you've been baptized.

I'm not asking you if you're a good guy. I trust that you are a good girl. You may have gone to a church camp, but you have never been born again. You may know some Bible. You may be a wonderful person, but you are lost. Jesus said you must be born again, and I want to give you an opportunity tonight to turn to Jesus as your Savior, to surrender your entire life to Him. He's worth it all. You say, Brad, that's me. With heads bowed and eyes closed, Brad, that's me. I want to give my life to Jesus tonight. With heads bowed and eyes closed, would you just put a finger in the air where I can see it? Put it up high where I can see it. Thank you. I see Him right now. Over to the other room. Thank you, thank you. Awesome, awesome. Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen, listen. Now, you raised your hand. You raised your hand. I want to ask you to pray with me this prayer. It's not a magical prayer. It's not some kind of incantation. I just want to help you verbalize the commitment of your heart. So if you prayed that with me, I want you to pray this with me privately in your heart. You don't have to say it out loud. Just say, dear Jesus, I admit that I'm a sinner that needs a Savior. I believe you died on a cross and rose again for me.

And today, I am making a U-turn. I'm turning from my sinful choices, and I'm turning to you. I'm choosing to follow you as my leader and my Lord. Please come live in me, and wash me clean from the inside out, and change my life. In Jesus' name, amen. Let's bow our eyes closed. Here's what we're going to do. I'm going to count to three.
