We all depend on the love of God. God is love. He who lives in love, lives in God and God in them. And that is love. That is why it is so complete, so that we have comfort on the day of judgment. And well, God is saying, He is love, right? He is like that on the day of judgment, right? And if we don't have fear on the day of judgment, we can be confident in God because we live how Jesus lived in this world. And maybe, how should love be fixed? And I will help you not to lose what God has for you. Because I know that when we are talking about relationships, sometimes we have like a card inside of us that says, we are going to qualify people on the right or left, or someone who is not here today.
We have series of friendships and relationships. And I hope the person next to me listens because they really need it. And we want everyone else to listen, but not us. And I don't want you to listen because the person next to you needs it. I want you to listen because you need it. Let me tell you this story so you can understand it correctly. We just moved to a house that we just built here in the United States. We are ready. And a couple of months ago, I started to find on the floor, like a brown plastic on the floor. And I was like, what in the world is this? And so I was like, maybe the construction guys left it. And they put it in the trash. I wasn't thinking about this. But a couple of days later, I found it again in the strangest places in the house that we just built. And I became obsessed. I took a picture of it. And I asked Google, what is this? And Google said, I have no idea. And I said, me neither. So I did what any human would do. And so I started to question all the people that maybe were guilty of bringing this dark plastic to my house. I started with my kids. Of course I did. I grabbed my daughter and said, look, this brown thing all over the house keeps showing up. It's here.
It's not here. You broke something. You broke something. You threw something. You took something out of your backpack. I don't know. It looks like pasta that wasn't cooked. You broke something. You took something out of pasta. And she said, no, no, it's me. My daughter told me it wasn't her. Okay, I went with my brother. I went with Noah. I mean, with my son, Noah. I said, Noah, tell me honestly. You broke something. You threw something. What is this? Your computer? Something that you're using in the house that I don't know. And he said, no, it's me. So I questioned my kids. And I moved on to my husband. I questioned him. I said, look, honey, I need an honest answer. I'm losing sleep over this thing. What did you do? What is it? Where is it? Why is it here in the house?
And he said, I really don't know. Where is it coming from? It's not me. I don't know anything about this. And I don't know. And now we started asking people who came to visit us. And now we're getting serious with our friends. We said, well, maybe our friends. And someone has a theory. I said, I think it's the friend who comes from time to time and helps clean the house. Because she works in another building. I think maybe the lady who helps us clean is bringing this coffee thing. And well, maybe it's something she's using. And maybe, yes, it must be that lady. It's her fault. Yes. So the lady comes to clean our house. But I'm not in the house. And when I get home, the house is perfect. And there's no coffee plastic anywhere. So I said, well, it can't be her then. And well, I started again for several days. There was no coffee plastic. I didn't find anything. And then it's Thanksgiving Day. What do you think? Jeremy and Jen came to stay with us. Jen and Jeremy put their suitcases in the guest room. And suddenly, they grabbed a piece of coffee plastic and said, friends, what is this?
And I said, what? I just cleaned your room. How is this coffee plastic? And I said, I really don't know. And Jeremy said, yes, I also found one on the stairs. And he said, no, you couldn't find that? He said, yes, I found it and I got it. Two days later, they're in our house. Two days later, they're still at home. Jen comes from the kitchen I found it, I found it, I found it and I run to the kitchen and Jen is there at the door where there is a basket and there are my slippers in her hands she turns around and the sole of my slippers is disintegrating and in that moment I had a revelation like the song of Taylor Swift right? the revelation but I am me, I am the problem I am the problem, I was the problem I had been walking in my house blaming
everyone else for this plastic when the brown plastic was on my own foot and I was angry with my children and I was chasing where this plastic came from and you know these slippers were old I had them in England when we lived there I no longer use them but I decided that because they were pretty I was going to put them in my new house so that they were there to look pretty but you know they were ready because I used them for something new to tell you how love is I want you to be aware of the brown plastic inside your own foot or under your feet before you start blaming everyone else I am me, I was the problem I am me and if we were all this way
today we are going to walk differently because if you you know I am in control of this I have it you are the owner of this problem of what is your thing relationships are complicated it costs us our energy our time our emotions sometimes we get involved in things that take our energy and also that fill us with energy there are decisions that change the trajectory of our lives the relationships the right relationships and friendships everything affects our lives and revolves around friendships and relationships and they are very important it is incredible to me how we make decisions about relationships or friendships so casually because they have the biggest consequences
of our lives and we can enter and exit in our calling in our peace in our life or in any area of what God calls us to navigate there is a scripture that sounds weird but I felt that God told me when I was preparing this message to start with this scripture in Jeremiah because in this scripture God is trying to help people like today because they are making bad choices people of God are choosing the wrong things casually but they are having big consequences they are still choosing idols more than God they are sacrificing the wrong things the wrong voices so God tells his prophet Jeremiah, I want you to go say these words to them
before they make a mistake and I think God called me today to prophetically say the same words before you make another mistake I think today there are people here that you are going to make a decision in a relationship and you don't have the wisdom but I hope that today you have this wisdom to make that decision with your relationship so Jeremiah this is what the Lord says look at what the Lord says he says Jeremiah 6.16 this is the Lord stop at the cross and look around ask for the old way the right way and walk in it you will find rest for the soul what does that mean? when we get to the area of making decisions we feel that our life we are making a decision
to stop in the traffic of what this represents the road, the path of what these relationships are going to be in our life and sometimes we don't handle our own life well that's why sometimes we crash with the people in our lives. Some of you are sitting here with broken bones, with a headache because you're still fighting with your husband, your wife, your mother-in-law, your in-laws, or with another family member, and you feel like you're colliding. And the scriptures say, hey, hey, I have to give you wisdom before you get in the middle of this traffic crossing, before you make a choice that takes you to the wrong place, but I need you to stop and I need you to turn around. I don't know if it's a school here in the United States, but in England, they do it. They teach you this green code of how to cross the street because if you don't teach this immature child how to cross the street, they're going to get into traffic and they're not going to live if they get into traffic like that. So, when you get to this place and you cross this road, and you say, hey, stop, and you turn around, when you get to a crossroads, stop. Look, look, pay attention, see if it's a good decision to get into traffic or not,
to the street, to cross the street or not. And after you've assisted, if there's nothing coming your way, then go ahead, make that decision. And I feel that the Holy Spirit wants to tell us, that maybe on this street, we have some conversations with friends or relationships or relationships, that God is saying, hey, stop. Hey, slow down, slow down, don't go in there, slow down. I don't know why we always have that, that thing of wanting to hurry, to make decisions that shouldn't be made so fast. And the Holy Spirit of God is saying, hey, son, daughter, slow down, slow down, right? Don't hurry, slow down, you're going too fast. I know you want to jump into that relationship, but slow down. The passion, imagine, no. The resentment, no. The lust, the lust is going to take you to a place where you're going to crash. Slow down. And when we make decisions about relationships, you have to understand, as if you were a car, to slow down that car, slow down. God is saying, hey, slow down, slow down, don't rush. Why are we in such a hurry? Oh, I'm 16, I have to hurry with this boyfriend because he's leaving. No, slow down.
There are more things that are there, you know what? You know what? Something that says, slow down, because you can marry the wrong person and that's worse if you keep rushing. Or then you say, oh, I'm getting old, whatever. No, slow down. It's worse to be married to the wrong person. And sometimes, you know what? Or maybe we act wrongly or we're angry and we get angry in a way and God says, slow down, slow down. Stop and think, right? Me and my husband, we've been together for 34 years and look, I'm so excited to tell you now that thank God, we slowed down and we encouraged each other before making a decision. There's a society that tells you, hurry up. It says, oh, if you make a mistake, oh, well, keep going with the next one, don't worry. Don't slow down. And you know what? We have people who are very hurt, very severely hurt because they didn't slow down before getting into a relationship. You want to jump in the middle and God says, slow down the speed at which you're getting into this relationship. Look, here at this moment, I said to Jeremiah, slow down. Wait, turn around and look at the street before you cross
so you don't get run over. And look, imagine the paths from before. Listen to the wisdom, right? What does it say? Look for the direction to the old crossroads. Ask and say, what does this mean? From the old street. The word old is the word holan in Hebrew and it says the path that always lasts. Stop there at the crossroads and ask that it's always the right path. When you're at a crossroads in your relationship and it is dysfunctional and you have all kinds of nightmares, don't go with your friend or your friend who also has a dysfunctional relationship and ask for advice. That's not how it should be. God doesn't want you to do it this way. Because if you're contemplating a divorce and you're going to talk to your friend who's divorced and then you're in the group chat, in the text group of all the divorced people, no. They're not giving you the wisdom because they're not taking you to the place that God wants you to go. The Bible is very specific. Don't ask anyone for the wisdom. Sometimes he asks for the wisdom of the wrong people because he's the wrong person
to give you the advice that you need. God says, ask the ancient, right? The ancient way, where's the right way? And walk that way through the scriptures to the wise people. And you say, I don't know the right place. Well, I'm glad you came to church because I'm going to teach you. God, give me a sign. I'm going to give you a sign today. I'm going to give you a sign for your life so you don't ignore it. You're not going to leave here thinking, what is this message about? You're going to know exactly what this message is about. And that's why we don't like it when the messages are clear because now we know it's something we have to do. But you sat down and it's too late. You're in this service, so it's too late. So here we go. And he says, ask for this way. The everlasting way. You're going to find this place that never ends, right? He says that the word of God is eternal. This is the everlasting way. You want to know the good thing? You want to know the right thing? This is the right place, the eternal place. This is the perpetual way, the Bible makes it so clear. And the Bible makes it so clear.
Why are we so stupid that we think this is not the way? This is the way. And he says this in this, what is the ancient place, what is the ancient way? He says, love is patient, love is kind. Love is not jealous, does not have ego, does not have selfishness, does not have dishonesty. Does not have selfishness, does not have dishonesty. Does not have selfishness, does not get angry quickly, does not have a record of how many times he has been angry. But love rejoices in the truth, always protects, always loves, always trusts, always has confidence, always has hope. Love never fails. So the Bible is telling you, this is the place, this is the excellent moment. What direction are you going in your relationships? This is the direction. So as I teach you this this morning, I want to tell you, are you going to the right place or are you going to the wrong place? And he says, well, let me tell you how. Here he says, the love posture is patient. And he says, well, what is a patient posture? It's not like that, with the arms crossed, grabbing the teeth. No, that's not patience. It's true, patience does not wait like that. Patience is different, it's obedience, right? It's not squeezing the teeth, closing the hands.
You know what patience is? It's obedience to say, even if I'm not seeing the results that I want, love is patient. And as it weighs, it's like that. And you know it's active, and it prays, and it learns. Impatience puts Ishmael in your life, like the Ishmaelites of the Bible, Ishmael. And you know what? You have to pay for one of those, to finance the future of one of those people. You don't produce something you don't want to pay for. These Ishmaelites have impatience, right? And you know, we have people in our lives who are more problems, who inject problems instead of injecting life. And it was because of our impatience. And you know what? We have to know that the love posture of patience, how does this look? I can show you a picture in Scripture, which is the prodigal son. Well, and what is that? This son said that he knows more, right? The prodigal son, and he goes in the wrong direction. When we are in this situation, our posture is to go after them, to let them know why we are disappointed. that they may be chewed to death, right? This is, we reprimand him. Well, our father is patient, he is waiting for us.
He is ready to receive his son back because his posture is like this. No, my posture is wrong, right? And you're down there in the moment of the lowest of the low of the prodigal son, that you will have a message from him. If you have a message, I don't know, an image of your father in your head, and you say, well, in this moment, you might get an image of someone abusive in your life, and they have that posture, and you didn't want to come home because of that. And the day of the low of the prodigal son, I know that God is going to bring you something, and you have to run home. But we have to change the posture of our heart because, you know, we don't know what's going to happen because we have become impatient. You don't want to go into an incorrect relationship and be afraid to come home. Love is patience. And you know, kindness has a sound. You know, kindness always sees the person always sees the person before the problem. See the problem before the problem. The cadence of love is kind. And kind always sees the person first before the pressure. God saw the people first as people, and then he would help them with their problem, and he would deal with the depression.
He saw that this woman was there, and he said, well, before he saw this woman there in a well, he saw the woman before her problem. He saw Judas before he denied him, before he pressured him. But God saw him with kindness. And you know, treat people the way you would like to be treated. Love is kind. But in the incorrect way, we say things that are not kind. We say unkind things. We handle people in unkind ways. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is fluent in forgiveness. This is a big one. Not only is it fluent in forgiveness, but it doesn't keep a record of the wrong things. When me and my husband Steve and I got married, I don't know what happened, but the word, I'm sorry, it was taken out of the vocabulary. I don't know what happened. Saying it made me want to throw up because I was convinced that he was wrong and I was wrong. And I'm like, why am I going to feel like this? And when we got married, he didn't know this, but I put some documents
in alphabetical order of all the wrong things that he had done. Every day that there was a problem, I would put it there. And when something bad happened, I would get to my system of documents and I would tell you what he said, what he did, everything. I kept everything. I had a great system to document what my husband did that irritated me. And you know what? I felt that the marriage was more difficult because I realized, I'm walking to the wrong place and I'm more walking this way and I'm carrying all the bad things that my husband is doing and I don't want to forgive him because I'm distancing myself from the person I am coming from. And many of you today are going to have to turn to the other side because you're going to the wrong place and today you're going to realize that that plastic cup of coffee of blaming your husband or your wife
or the people in your life because you're going to the wrong direction and you have to, I have to remind you today that you were also a sinner and you have also had problems and God has forgiven you. Not only did he forgive you, but the Bible says he forgave you so much that he doesn't even remember what you did wrong from east to west he remembers no more. So when God sees you, he doesn't see the 15 things you did wrong in the last six months. When he sees you, it's like you're starting again. He doesn't like to remember that. He doesn't remember. But when you and I see our loved ones, we have a catalog in our mind of all the bad things Let's try to draw the other chance. our loved ones do Love flows in forgiveness. It's flowing in love, it's flowing in forgiveness. It doesn't mean that what the person did was not right.
It doesn't mean that we agree with what they did, but you have to forgive in order to keep walking in the way of love. Love flows in love and forgiveness. And forgiveness perseveres. In England, we drive cars that are not automatic. And well, in England, right, we go at high speeds and suddenly I go down and I go up a little mountain and my car makes a sound, ah, ah. What you were doing so slowly was difficult at that moment. And at that moment I said, I hate this car. I hate this car. And I pulled over and I started walking because the car was making a sound that I didn't like. And so then I was making an argument with the car. I said, oh, this is more difficult than when I was on the wrong pavement. And I said, what I have to do in this manual transmission, well, you know, you don't throw the car. I said, I'm going to leave this vehicle. What do you have to do? Change the mechanism of what you're using. Change the lever. When you and your children, your parents, your husband, you don't say, ah, I throw the towel. No, you change the mechanism. You say, I have to find another way to do it. I have to find wisdom of grace, wisdom of love. I have to have wisdom of hope. Love does not give up.
And if I did, none of us would be here because when we change the lever or the mechanism of what God is teaching, when God was crucified, he didn't say, this is very difficult, right? When he was crucified, he didn't say, this thing of loving people is very difficult. You have to change the mechanism. No, I'm going to change the mechanism and I'm going to sacrifice myself for that. He taught us that love never gives up. Love always has hope and will always persevere. Always honor, parents, always daughters. And I'm not just talking about little kids. I'm talking about adults, moms and dads who maybe aren't here in this place. We have to honor our parents. Even if they're dysfunctional or dramatic or whatever, it doesn't mean that we agree with what they did, but we have to honor our parents. Always love and persevere also, love our parents. That's the way to love. Jeremiah ends up saying, when you ask about the ancient path, when you can teach them, he says, now walk in this. He says what he says. And if you do it, he says, you will find rest for your soul. And I felt praying for you today.
I feel that many of you need rest. Rest in your soul. I feel that many of you need rest. Rest in your soul. Rest in your soul. I'm not telling you to sleep, because that's not going to fix it. Some vacations are not going to fix it. But you know that in the soul, a pain in the soul can't be healed by sleeping. It has to be healed by resting your soul. Walking in the right path to have rest in your soul. We all have to have this rest in your marriage. And how are you going to find that? You have to walk in the direction of love. So I don't know if this finds you today. How do you find yourself today? I don't know where this hits you today. But my prayer at the beginning is that you listen for you. I know that if I was here to ask you, who would be here in a dysfunctional relationship? Many would raise their hand and open their eyes. But I'm not talking about them today. I'm talking about you. Like I said, I was the problem
at the beginning of this message. If you pay attention to what you have to change, then maybe the other person is going to do the same. But we have to walk in the right place. Let's close our eyes. God, we thank you for teaching us the right path. God help us to think about how to model love for each other. I pray for marriages, for families, for those who have gone in the wrong direction. To be able to return Correct, and walk in love, with love. to the eternal path and truly like you. Gold for the conversations that are going to happen maybe during the night, today. Situations where families are going to get together and say, we're going to have changes. We're going to walk in the path of love. We're going to do things differently in this house. Gold, that today we make the Word in our houses and we find rest in them. Today, as we close our eyes,
if you're here and you know that your life is far from God, you're like maybe a prodigal son or you've never said yes to giving your life to God. It's a moment where all the arms are facing you. God says, you're my prodigal son, my prodigal daughter and we're ready for you. And if today you want to give your life to God, raise your hand and say, Charlotte, pray for me. I know that I need to go back to walk the eternal path, the right path, with wisdom, with love for God. Raise your hand and that hand that you raised, put it in your heart and we're going to pray over you. God, you see all the people who are responding to you right now. You know the situations that are going on and I thank you, Lord, that you are standing there ready to embrace them, to walk in a love that they don't know, that you're not going to keep any record of all the bad things they've done. It's a love with love, with grace, with forgiveness. And Lord, as we give your life to you, I ask that they meet your love, that you saturate their lives with your love, that they know that love that they don't know, that we act differently, that we think differently, that we would think differently, that we would meet you with love, that we give you glory and all the graces. That in you, Lord, there is love,
that there is no other person can give us in you, Lord. It's the love that transforms our lives. Thank you for helping us walk in love. We give you all the glory. In the name of Jesus, amen.
