¿Quién Es Él? // Who Is He?
Today, we begin this new series. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Called Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And we will be talking about-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] Who the Holy Spirit is. [SPEAKING SPANISH] What he wants to do in our lives. [SPEAKING SPANISH] I believe-- I know that maybe some people-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --may have some mixed feelings and thoughts. [SPEAKING SPANISH] --when you hear about them. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Or some people may say. [SPEAKING SPANISH] A series about the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Finally. [SPEAKING SPANISH] It was about time. [SPEAKING SPANISH] I've been waiting for this. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Or others may think. [SPEAKING SPANISH] I hope nothing crazy happens today. [SPEAKING SPANISH]
Because maybe you had a bad experience. [SPEAKING SPANISH] In a church. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Or someone said to you. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Don't go to that church. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Because there they talk about the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And there they won't let you wear pants. [SPEAKING SPANISH] There they won't let you wear makeup. [SPEAKING SPANISH] There you'll be in a service of four hours. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And everyone is crazy. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And I understand. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Because throughout all the years-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] That I have served the Lord. [SPEAKING SPANISH] I've seen how it's been abused. [SPEAKING SPANISH] How the subject about the Holy Spirit has been abused. [SPEAKING SPANISH] This is why when you hear Holy Spirit-- [SPEAKING SPANISH]
You think about something crazy. [SPEAKING SPANISH] But throughout all of these years-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] I have seen people-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] Do things in the name of the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] But it wasn't the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] I've also heard many people say-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] The Holy Spirit said to me-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] And then they followed it up by saying some things-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] That confused many people. [SPEAKING SPANISH] This is why people draw the wrong conclusions. [SPEAKING SPANISH] About the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Because of what they saw-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] Heard or experienced. [SPEAKING SPANISH] But in this series-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] I ask you with all my heart-- [SPEAKING SPANISH]
Let's all start over. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And we're going to see-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] Not what certain church says about the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] But let's see what Jesus said-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --about the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Jesus is with his disciples-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] And they're having the Last Supper. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And that is when-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] The Lord begins to talk-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --about the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And look at what the Lord said. [SPEAKING SPANISH] And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another counselor who will never leave you. [SPEAKING SPANISH] He is the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] The first thing I want you to write down-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --is that the Holy Spirit, number one--
[SPEAKING SPANISH] He is a someone, not a something. [SPEAKING SPANISH] The Holy Spirit is someone. He is not something. [SPEAKING SPANISH] The Holy Spirit is not a dove. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Even though he descended as a dove-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --upon Jesus during his baptism-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --but he is not a dove. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Even though he is compared to fire-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] The Holy Spirit is not fire. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Even though he is compared to water and oil. [SPEAKING SPANISH] The Holy Spirit is not water nor oil. [SPEAKING SPANISH] He is not some type of energy. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Or an active force. [SPEAKING SPANISH] But many people think-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] Oh, I felt something. [SPEAKING SPANISH]
I got goosebumps. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Then that's the Holy Spirit. [SPEAKING SPANISH] But it doesn't always happen this way. [SPEAKING SPANISH] This is why the Holy Spirit-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --cannot be reduced-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --to a feeling-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --or an emotion. [SPEAKING SPANISH] If you think that the Holy Spirit-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] --is an energy or an active force-- [SPEAKING SPANISH] Then you're going to miss out on the relationship. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Because he wants to fill you. He wants to empower you. This is Jesus speaking, and look at what he says. The spirit of truth, the world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. The first thing we see that Jesus says is the Holy Spirit is a person. So if we don't believe this and we don't accept this, then we can't have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. Because Jesus is saying that the Holy Spirit is a person. The second thing I want you to write down is that the Holy Spirit is God. The Holy Spirit is God.
This is what Jesus said. Go and baptize the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we believe in just one God, and that is called the Trinity. It's not three different gods. So this is who the Holy Spirit is. So the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. But just the fact that he's the third person. That doesn't mean that he's in third place. No, look at what the word says. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of deep. When the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters, then God said, "Let there be light, and there was light." So the Holy Spirit as God. We see him active in creation. Then we see him active throughout the entire Old Testament. Then we always see him doing things that only God could do, empowering people, so that they could do what God had called them to do. We read that the Holy Spirit came upon Samson, the Holy Spirit came upon Gideon, and the Holy Spirit came upon Moses and David, and upon many other people. God's plan was carried out through the power of the Holy Spirit. That allowed the people of God to do what God had called them to do. But if we notice in the Old Testament, that used to happen only with certain people. But when we get to the New Testament, we see the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus. From the beginning of his ministry, starting with his baptism, up until his resurrection. Because it was the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave. So Jesus is telling his disciples. It's necessary for me to go. But I will send you the Holy Spirit. Who before used to be only upon certain people.
But Jesus is telling them. In the last days, the Holy Spirit will be upon all people. Upon all people. The Holy Spirit will be upon them. And here's the next thing. He is good for you. For a support of the Spirit. This is why I can tell you. "Galespiritusanto no estattratando de confundida la hente." That the Holy Spirit is not trying to confuse people. "Galespiritusanto no estattratando de arunar tubida." The Holy Spirit is not trying to ruin your life. "Mucho menus alespiritusanto estattratando de asustara la hente." Much less is the Holy Spirit trying to scare people. "Gesus estadiciendo." Jesus is saying... "Galespiritusanto no estattratando de confundida." that the Holy Spirit is good for your life. "Gesus estadiciendo." And Jesus continues to say... But I tell you the truth. It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the counselor... "Stablando de lespiritusanto." He is talking about the Holy Spirit. The counselor will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you. "Porca cesus de es necesario que yo me baya." "Why does Jesus say it's necessary for me to go?" And I believe that some of us have at some point thought.
That it would be much better if Jesus were physically here with us. I don't know if any of you have ever thought this. But if Jesus were here... ...in form of physical. ...in a physical form... ...then he would be limited by his physical body. And he would just be in one place. You'd have to make an appointment... ...and then get in line... ...and wait for hours or maybe days... ...to just spend two minutes with Jesus... ...and then get back on the plane to go back home. But Jesus is telling his disciples... ...it's necessary for me to go. Because truly... ...your life... ...what better than Jesus in person? What better than God with us? But do you know what's better? God in us. This is why now we can experience the heart of God. This is why we can experience the mind of God. And now all... ...can carry the power and the presence of God. Wherever we may go. Because God is not just with you. But the Holy Spirit is in you. So I want to talk to you about four things. That Jesus said about the Holy Spirit. And here's the first.
The Holy Spirit, he is our helper. Listen, the New Testament was written in Greek. This is a very complex language. Just one Greek word... ...can have four to five meanings... ...in Spanish or in English... ...in English or in Spanish. ...and this could get complicated. That word counselor... ...in El Grego... ...in Greek. Look at what it means. And that word is pericletos. And it means counselor, advocate, helper, friend, comforter. So Jesus is saying... ...that the Holy Spirit would come to be by your side. That he would be all of this for your life. And the image that the people during that time had of this word counselor... ...was that of when someone wanted to pick up a heavy log... ...the pericletos, the counselor. He would be someone who would come and grab the log from the other side... ...and help you pick up that log... ...and he would help you to carry that heavy load. In other words... ...in life we carry heavy loads. in everything that you need because in this life, we need help. This is why, the Holy Spirit is supposed to be by our side and their for us because life is difficult. Life is dark. Life is a heavy burden that we cannot carry on our own. This is why Jesus says that the Holy Spirit would be our helper. Look at what the word says. But the counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the father will send in my name. We'll teach you all things and we'll remind you of everything I have said to
you. So the Holy Spirit is not just our helper. But the Holy Spirit, number two, he will teach us. And the Holy Spirit comes to be by our side, to teach us. But listen, to teach us what Jesus says. And when the Holy Spirit teaches us, he changes us. He changes us. When he teaches us, he changes us. So now I want to read the Bible because God is going to speak to you. The Holy Spirit is my teacher. And I'm going to allow him to speak to me. Many of us. We don't need something new. We need someone to remind us what we've forgotten. And that is the work of the Holy Spirit. He will teach us. So the Holy Spirit teaches us. He helps us. In number three. He will guide us. The Holy Spirit is your constant companion. He is with you. He never leaves you. He is closer to you. Then what you believe. So when you go on an adventure. Or when you go on a trip. Or you go and climb a mountain. You need a backpack. To carry what you need. I can tell you. That the Holy Spirit has everything that you need. For the journey. He is taking you through life. On this earth. And sometimes we'll be on the top of the mountain. And we're going to say. This is incredible. But other days. You will be struggling. You'll be trying to make your way. And you ask yourself what should I do? Where should I go? And that is where. The Holy Spirit will guide you. The Holy Spirit will guide you. So. The Holy Spirit. A light that illuminates. Here in this backpack. I have a flashlight. He wants to illuminate your way. He wants to show you. That direction. That direction. That you're supposed to be taking. In fact, there is no other way. There's no other way. Where people could find their way to God. It is the Holy Spirit. The one that illuminates, illuminates their way. So that they can find their way to God. Other times. The light of the Holy Spirit. We'll shine when you're reading the Sitting in the middle of a sermon, in the Holy Spirit, begins to illuminate you with his light, and then all of a sudden, people say, who told that pastor what I'm going through? He's speaking to me. I want to tell you that it's not the past. It is the Holy Spirit, who is illuminating your light. He's speaking to you. He is teaching you. He is showing you areas of your life that you need to change in other occasions. You will be in prayer. And all of a sudden, that light will turn inward in your heart. And the Holy Spirit speaks to you with a soft voice and he says, I want to talk to you about this about that bad attitude that you have, or those bad actions, that unforgiveness, that bitterness that bitterness that you have. I want to deal with that because the Holy Spirit illuminates our way. Also, the Holy Spirit is a map that guides. I also have a map here in this backpack. How does the Holy Spirit guide us? Look at what the Lord continues to say.
But when he, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide us into all truth. So, the Holy Spirit as a map, when you get lost, he wants you to move in the right direction. He will open up the map, and he will show you the direction in which you're supposed to be going. And when you have a problem, and you need wisdom, the Holy Spirit, will reveal it to you and he will guide you into truth. He will point to those places in my life, in which I'm wrong. Where my way of thinking is wrong, where my attitude is wrong, and where my actions are wrong. And in fact, he will tell you by the map, what places you should avoid. Sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down. In which you don't need to be connected to it. Because that will not take you. Where the Lord wants to take you. The Holy Spirit also is a compass that adjusts. Here, I also have a compass. The Holy Spirit is similar to this compass. And a compass is very different from a map. They serve two different purposes. The map shows you which path to take. What trajectory to follow? From point A to point B. The compass shows you where you are exactly. In relation to True North. True North. That is what the compass does. It teaches us to do. It teaches us to make the small adjustments. That person needs to make. Have you ever seen a person use a compass? What they do? They do this until the compass places them in exactly the right direction. So the Holy Spirit as a compass will help you.
To make the small corrections. speaking to you. And he will be bringing conviction to your life along this way. This path that you're walking with the Lord. And the Lord continues to say when he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgments. The conviction of the Holy Spirit is for our good because just like this compass, it comes to help us adjust along the way. And for us to be sure that we remain on the true path all the time because the enemy comes to Caden. He comes to bring guilt but the Holy Spirit comes to bring us conviction and adjust us so that we can be better each day. Listen, he's going to whisper in your ear. And he's going to tell you with a beautiful soft voice. Don't ever do that again. That's destroying your life. You shouldn't be spending your money this way. You shouldn't be watching what you're watching. You shouldn't go into that type of environment. Spend more time with your children. Be more intentional in your marriage. The Holy Spirit is always working in our lives but more than not. The Holy Spirit. He convicts the world of their sin. In other words, that means that the Holy Spirit does not condemn the world. I love what Billy Graham said. It's God's job to judge. The Holy Spirit's job to convict. And my job to love. My job is to live this Christian life. In such a way where I can model the love of Jesus. Love people. And serve people. And when you begin to do this, people will begin to see your life and see my life. And they will begin to say that person has something different. I don't even believe the same thing they believe. But those people of Vision Church. They truly are generous. Those people are humble. I see all these people so happy. These people don't condemn anyone. Those people love others. So we're going to allow for the Holy Spirit to guide us through this life. And number four. The Holy Spirit. He will empower us. He will give you power to live this life. Because he is your helper. He teaches you. He guides you. And he will empower you. Jesus continues to say when the counselor comes who I will send to
you from the Father. The Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father will testify about me. The Holy Spirit will give you power to testify about him. The King. Who? The Jesus. Jesus. Don't miss this. Everything related to the Holy Spirit. Take us back to Jesus. But so many times. Christian is only focused on the gifts of the Spirit. But not on the purpose of the Spirit. We should remember that the gifts are there. Check it out. (speaking in foreign language) - Let me put it this way. (speaking in foreign language) - The Holy Spirit never takes selfies. (speaking in foreign language) - Everyone knows what that is. (speaking in foreign language) - It's not when you take your phone. (speaking in foreign language) - And you begin to take pictures of all your friends. (speaking in foreign language) - No, it's when you take your phone. (speaking in foreign language) - And you take your own pictures. (speaking in foreign language) - And you say this is about me. (speaking in foreign language) - Look at me. (speaking in foreign language) - Oh, look at my haircut today. (speaking in foreign language) - Or look at my makeup. (speaking in foreign language)
- I look better with this filter. (speaking in foreign language) - Look at me. (speaking in foreign language) - The Holy Spirit never does this. (speaking in foreign language) - So how do I know when the Holy Spirit is involved? (speaking in foreign language) - The answer is. (speaking in foreign language) - When Jesus is always for us. (speaking in foreign language) - Then you will know. (speaking in foreign language) - That it's about the Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - Because Jesus is saying it. (speaking in foreign language) - The Holy Spirit will testify about me. (speaking in foreign language) - The Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - Will lead us, will guide us in the direction of Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - Spirit and the Hebrew. (speaking in foreign language) - Is the word "rua." (speaking in foreign language) And it means spirit, wind, or breath. (speaking in foreign language)
- So you're supposed to. (speaking in foreign language) - So he is supposed to blow us in the direction of Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - Jesus is there before us. (speaking in foreign language) - And the "rua" in the wind. (speaking in foreign language) - The air. (speaking in foreign language) - The spirit. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - And it takes me towards Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - So that I can see Jesus in a clearer way. (speaking in foreign language) - And so that I can experience his power. (speaking in foreign language) - In a more intimate way. (speaking in foreign language) - The Holy Spirit is always working in us. (speaking in foreign language) - It always pushes me. (speaking in foreign language) - Towards Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - But what happens with many Christians. (speaking in foreign language) - Is that when that "rua" blows.
(explosion) (speaking in foreign language) - And you say, "Oh, what was that?" (speaking in foreign language) - Oh, I felt so good. (speaking in foreign language) - I want more of this. (speaking in foreign language) - I want more of this. (speaking in foreign language) - So people. (speaking in foreign language) - Many Christians. (speaking in foreign language) - They become obsessed with the spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - And I want to tell-- (speaking in foreign language) - That yes, this happens. (speaking in foreign language) - And we feel like this chill. (speaking in foreign language) - We feel something beautiful. (speaking in foreign language) - That we can't explain. (speaking in foreign language) - But sometimes you feel something. (speaking in foreign language) - And other times you don't. (speaking in foreign language)
- But people. (speaking in foreign language) - They obsess and they say, "I want more of this." (speaking in foreign language) - I want more of the spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - But a church. (speaking in foreign language) - That is full of the Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - Doesn't say, "I want more of this." - I want more of this. (speaking in foreign language) - A church filled with the spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - They say, "I want more of Jesus." - I want more of Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - I want more of Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - In Acts chapter two. (speaking in foreign language) - When the Holy Spirit descended on the day of Pentecost. (speaking in foreign language) - They didn't stay in that environment. (speaking in foreign language) - Just so that they could enjoy it. (speaking in foreign language)
- They immediately. (speaking in foreign language) - Went out into the world. (speaking in foreign language) - And they preached the word. (speaking in foreign language) - And 3,000 people. (speaking in foreign language) - Gave their lives to Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - On the, on Peter's first sermon. (speaking in foreign language) - So the evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - We can't reduce it. (speaking in foreign language) - So a person just speaking in tongues. (speaking in foreign language) - Or prophesying. (speaking in foreign language) - I believe in all of this. (speaking in foreign language) - And later on, we will be speaking about this. (speaking in foreign language) - But Jesus said. (speaking in foreign language) - You will receive power. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - When the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
(speaking in foreign language) - So that you can be my witness. (speaking in foreign language) - So that you can take my word. (speaking in foreign language) - So that you could be my witness. (speaking in foreign language) - Until the end of the earth. (speaking in foreign language) - This is why the power of the Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - It's not just for you. (speaking in foreign language) - It's for the other people. (speaking in foreign language) - Who are on the other side of your life. (speaking in foreign language) - Who are beyond these four walls. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - Full of worry. (speaking in foreign language) - Full of anxiety. (speaking in foreign language) - Who need to know Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - But in that church. (speaking in foreign language) - People don't fall to the ground. (speaking in foreign language)
- It's two programs. (speaking in foreign language) - There they won't let the Holy Spirit move. (speaking in foreign language) - Listen. (speaking in foreign language) - 207 people. (speaking in foreign language) - Two weeks ago. (speaking in foreign language) - Gave their lives to Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - 207 people. (speaking in foreign language) - The lives of people are being changed. (speaking in foreign language) - Our church is growing. (speaking in foreign language) - The spirit of humility and unity is here. (speaking in foreign language) - God is working in this church in a special way. (speaking in foreign language) - The last time I looked at the book of Acts. (speaking in foreign language) - That is a work of the Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - He is working in this church. (speaking in foreign language) - Because there are still so many people who are lost. (speaking in foreign language)
- Who need peace. (speaking in foreign language) - Who need joy. (speaking in foreign language) - We can't just simply stay. (speaking in foreign language) - Here enjoying ourselves. (speaking in foreign language) - Inside the church. (speaking in foreign language) - The Holy Spirit, the Lord has sent him. (speaking in foreign language) - So that he can take us out into the world. (speaking in foreign language) - And we need that power. (speaking in foreign language) - To do what he has called us to do. (speaking in foreign language) - And live life. (speaking in foreign language) - And live the life that God has called us to do. (speaking in foreign language) - Close your eyes and bow your heads, please. (speaking in foreign language) - Some of you are here today. (speaking in foreign language) - And you feel far from God. (speaking in foreign language) - But God is speaking to you today. (speaking in foreign language)
- It's the Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - Pulling you back to Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - If you feel far from God. (speaking in foreign language) - And you want to change that today. (speaking in foreign language) - I'm not going to ask you to stand to your feet. (speaking in foreign language) - Or to come up front. (speaking in foreign language) - There we are, you simply-- (speaking in foreign language) - Repeat this prayer with me. (speaking in foreign language) - And say Lord Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - I come to you today. (speaking in foreign language) - I accept you as my savior. (speaking in foreign language) - Forgive all of my sins. (speaking in foreign language) - Clamps me with your blood. (speaking in foreign language) - Make me a new person. (speaking in foreign language) - And Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language)
- Fill my life. (speaking in foreign language) - In the name of Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - Now allow me to pray for everyone. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - God, we thank you. (speaking in foreign language) - Because the power of the Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - Is working in each and every one of us. (speaking in foreign language) - Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - Today we declare. (speaking in foreign language) - That you are our helper. (speaking in foreign language) - You teach us. (speaking in foreign language) - You guide us. (speaking in foreign language) - And you are empowering us. (speaking in foreign language) - Fill us with that power. (speaking in foreign language) - So we can live. (speaking in foreign language) - The life that you have called us to live.
(speaking in foreign language) - And do. (speaking in foreign language) - What you have called us to do. (speaking in foreign language) - Thank you Lord. (speaking in foreign language) - For the Holy Spirit that you have sent. (speaking in foreign language) - On this day I pray. (speaking in foreign language) - So that we can grow in understanding. (speaking in foreign language) - Along this series. (speaking in foreign language) - And that your Holy Spirit. (speaking in foreign language) - Can take us to Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - To fall more in love with you Lord. (speaking in foreign language) - In the name of Jesus. - Thank you so much for watching the message.
