No Other Name | Pastor Shane Idleman
No other name. As we're celebrating the darkness, I don't know how many of you know what happened in 1517. In Wittenberg, Germany, Martin Luther nailed the 95 Thesis on the church doors and called the church back to God, and that's where all the five solos of the Reformation came from, faith and loan, and Christ's to the glory of God alone, grace alone, and it's such a powerful day that we do remember, but I just want to spark our memory a little bit with this title, "No Other Name," and of course it comes from Acts 4-12, "For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." So the reason I kind of want to just keep worshipping, but I also know that God put this on my heart for a reason, maybe to give us a fresh perspective as we go back into worship and get our hearts right, but why is this so important? No other name, especially in Bible times. The name represented a person's complete authority, character, and power. It actually gives complete legal authority. Today we might look at that as a power of attorney or something like that. So no other name as a believer, when you have the name of Jesus, you have the authority over the demonic realm. You have authority to pray with boldness. Now that doesn't mean he's a genie in the bottle, and we get every wish, everything we pray for. Thank God for his sovereignty. Thank God for his sovereignty, because I look back over my life and I'm like, thank God for unanswered prayers. Morgan does too, or we wouldn't be married. We'd probably be married to somebody else and not doing this, and you just thank God for your sovereignty. But I also want to share with you Philippians 2, 19 through 11, or I'm sorry, 2, 9 through 11. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and given him the name, the name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus Christ, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God, the Father. And what that means I used to, when I was traveling preaching, I was what they call a tenorant preacher, just go and preach and leave the damage for the pastor
to clean up. I would often say that you were either bow to him now, or you were bow to him some other time. At that point, he will say, "Depart for me. I don't know." Either way, you're bowing. Either way, you're bowing. You might as well bow to his lordship now, and never regret that decision, or live with regret until eternity. There is no other way around it. Every knee will bow. And that's why Peter said in Acts 3, "Silver or gold, I do not have, but what I do have, I give you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Get up and walk. Get up and walk, Corinthians." And that is what some of you were, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of our God. And that one could preach a whole sermon right there because he says, "Such were some of you." And he lists all the different sins out there. One's real popular right now, and there's a whole month celebrating it. And they shake their fists in the face of God. But he says, "All, no matter what, some of you were, now you have been washed in the blood of Lamb. No other name can save you except the name of Jesus Christ." And it's interesting, there is life in the blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin for the life of the flesh is in the blood. And as I was thinking about this week, I came across an incredible article. But before I share that, I want to talk about this for a minute. And that and that is what some of you were, some of you were, and the list is all kinds of things, right, adultery, homosexuality, idolatry, theft, covetousness, you name it. He says, "Such were some of you, but you were washed, you were sanctified." Here's what's happening in the American church at large. We are not calling people to repentance. We have given up the duty of watchmen and become motivational speakers. And motivational speakers don't necessarily get people into the heaven, to the kingdom of God because God says, "I have sent watchmen before you." And I reminded earlier today actually of Ezekiel where God said, "I have sent watchmen on my walls and you And you must warn when you see the people of the world. And Ezekiel, this is so profound. It is so necessary that if you fail to warn the people, I will require the blood on your hands. Where are the watchmen rising up in America today? Where are the watchmen calling our nation back to Jesus Christ?
Where are those who watch? They don't care what people think. They don't care what people say because they answer to one name and one name only. That is the name of Jesus Christ. We need that again in our pulpits. We need that again. Let this be a call to every pastor who might hear this later. Or now, your calling is a calling of God if you are called. Many are not there self-appointed. But if you're a cold of God, you have one responsibility to seek the heart of God and then preach that out and let the chips fall where they may. It's a watchman not a coward. And you will not change people if you don't confront sin. That's why many, many places they just grow and people love certain people because they tickle their ear. Oh, I love that church. They never make me feel bad. Now life is in the blood. Life is in the blood. Power in the blood of Jesus. I've heard so many times over the years, just even recently, if you listen to Steve Schell on the radio network, he was talking about a worship leader he had. And there's a church in town here I used to know and I talked to the pastor about it and they're just uncomfortable with songs about the blood.
Listen, if what Jesus did makes you uncomfortable, you need to check your heart. It didn't make him uncomfortable. He talked about it often. The Bible talks about it often. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. But Shane, that's a little too offensive if people are coming in the seeker sensitive movement. Listen, I need to be sensitive to God's movement. (congregation applauding) We welcome seekers. We love seekers. We want messages to be relevant. But at the end of the day, we have to preach what God's word says. And yes, it will challenge your heart. It will convict your soul. And the power is in the blood of Jesus Christ. I believe his name is Rian Swanglar. If we have the picture, you guys will know who this is. He was a leader in the church of Satan who became a Christian. Here's what he said about tonight. If we think of a neighborhood or we think of a neighborhood or an area of homes where there are some homes that celebrate Halloween, that whole perimeter becomes a satanic ritual by definition. His words, not me.
Oh, there's going to Shane again. He's getting a little carried away. No, this guy said it's a hotspot for demonic activity. That's why sometimes Halloween services are a little rough. Thank God John pushes through. 'Cause you got all kinds of stuff right around the neighborhood here. All kinds of wickedness and evil and the wrong spirits worshiping the wrong spirits. And we come here and we shine that light in the darkness. And so those areas, he said it's a hotspot for demonic activity. And you are opening doors to the dark side of the spirit world when you are doing those things and engaging in those celebrations. In Satanism, there are blood sacrifices, especially the vulnerable parts of society like the homeless. And they are definitely a target. I'm talking from experience of being involved in Satanism for five years as well as facilitating certain rituals and things that were there where we did sacrifices, especially of animals. Now, this is interesting. So blood is a physical thing and it has currency in the spiritual world. So if you want to make negotiations or bargains or deals with the demonic realm, you must bring certain blood sacrifices. And the more pure a soul is considered to be the higher the currency of that blood is
in the demonic realm. And so now I thought of all those movies and they want to sacrifice virgins and they really believe this stuff. And just to show you how I went to chat GPT and ask, do they do blood in the sack? Oh no, that's all hearsay. And the Satanic Temple is not, you know, really. Well, I just talked to a guy or read a guy's words that were in it. What, because there is power in the blood. That's how God created us. They're actually the life forces in the blood. You're aging, you're healthy. A lot of that comes from the blood, the cell, the microbiome, and the gut, and the mitochondria, and the cells, and all those things. There's life in that blood, and that's why Jesus' blood was shed to cover your sin and my sin once and for all. But I just, you have to know this. I love this part. I wish I could say it more often. Just a reminder, because I get an argument sometimes, Satan and God are not equal. Okay, let's settle this. It's not the light and the darkness, and who's gonna win? And oh my goodness, it is, you can take authority in Jesus' name, you say by the blood of Jesus Christ, I am a child of the living God, Satan,
you will not have my family, you will not have my home, you will not have my marriage, you will not have the state of California, by the blood of Jesus Christ. There's authority in that. Now again, the prayers might not be answered, like I would like them answered, but demonic oppression, God is stronger. Demonic influence, God is stronger, they are not equal. If you wanna get technical, Satan is a created being that falls underneath God's sovereignty, he has to kinda come into God's presence like a little six-year-old. Oh, have you considered my servant Job? And it says in our bandaha Elohim, he was with the children of God, he was part of that and walking to and fro, and he came and he asked the Lord and talked to him about Job, and nothing is done without God's authority. That's why the demons believe and they tremble. Oh, I love to see demons tremble, don't you? There's nothing, that's why stop being so scared, stop being so worried, God is on the throne. He has not been defeated, he cannot be defeated. There is no other name given under heaven and earth that will save men, not only salvation, not only salvation, but from demonic opposition, demonic attacks, they are not equal. And there is a name, that name, Jesus,
it levels mountains, it parts the sea, it armies can't defeat him, kings can't conquer him, nations cannot overthrow him. Again, there is no other name given, that's why we worship, that's why we get a little excited. You might get a little excited when God has delivered you or set you free or he's holding you together, he's sustaining you. You might get a little excited during worship and begin to weep and cry out to God, oh, if it wasn't for the grace of God, there go I. That actually separates the true worshipers from the bystanders, those who have truly been touched by God. And they have that deep relationship. Hebrews, without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin. First John, the blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin. Revelation, they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and then the word of their testimony, the power of testimony. And I left, first Peter, you were redeemed with the precious spotless blood of Christ. That name, it saves the soul, it calms the storm, it heals the sick, it unlocks the chains, it releases the bondage. That name, that name, if you can call out to that name, cry out to that name. That name will save, that name will set you free, that name will give you peace, that name will give you comfort. When the doctor gives you terrible news, you just turn and say, oh, Jesus, help me, that name.
No other name, but that name. And I love what David said, Goliath, you come against me with javelin and spear and all these weapons of war. But I come against you in the name of the living God, the God of Israel, y'all way is his name. That is my strong tower, he is my rock, he is my anchor. And you get, you remember who you are in Christ and that should encourage you. So many Christians are living defeated, whoa is me. Look at the rise of Islam. Look at where America is going. Whoa is me, you can claim the name of Jesus Christ and that name is greater than any other name. That is authority, it's spiritual authority. (congregation applauding) And so again, I just want to really just wet your appetite for who Jesus really is and why we're here to worship. It's really a night to intercede. It's a night to intercede. And during closing worship, we can do, it's a night to plead for our prodigals and really cry and I truly believe that. I truly believe that the remnant can hold back the judgment hand of God. I like him. I would have did that too. How low can I go? But there's a remnant that God hears the cries of His children.
He restrains that judgment. He works on our behalf. He brings that light in the darkest places. And the condition of the church today. Guys, the condition of the church today, it's a mockery. It's sad. It is sad. We build buildings, but we lose His presence. We pump up numbers, but we kill humility. We chase fame, but we lose the fullness of the Spirit. And again, a night to intercede. Here's why prayer is so hard because it's so powerful. Can you imagine we can lay hold of God in the prayer closet and corporately? We can get the ear of God. We can change the course of situations. We believe in the power of prayer. That's the most important thing we have, and that's why that sword has grown very dull. We don't pull it out enough and fight the enemy with it. That's why he goes after your prayer time. That's why prayer, it's the most important thing, but it's so difficult. And we forget just the power of prayer. I want to just tell you a quick story. I actually think I heard it from Times Court Church pastor Tim. So Ross, if you heard this before, don't say anything. There was a church and they were going to put an adult bookstore in the same strip mall or next to it. And the church went to prayer like this is not going to happen. They called Wednesday night prayer, Friday night prayer. They were praying for a couple weeks and maybe even a month and just laying hold of God.
We can't have our kids walking up and seeing this, adult store and one night lightning hit. And it hit that place. And it basically burnt to the ground. And they were so happy, but they get some paper in the mail and there's a lawsuit. They're suing the church. So they go to court, they go to court and they make this case that you had prayer, the plaintiff. You have prayer meetings on this night, this night, this night. And they're like, you can't hold us responsible for that. I mean, what? It's just like, I don't know, yeah, I mean, we didn't do that. You can't, because they want like a million and a half to two million dollars. And the church is like, no, no, no, no, no, no, that you can't put on us. We didn't have anything to do with it. It was a stormy night. And the judge said something amazing. In all my years of practice, I have never heard of a porn store believing in the power of prayer to church denying it. And the church denying it. They're fighting again. Oh, no, no, no, we didn't do that. But the power of prayer, what a God, what a God, what a God, what a God. That song we say, I think it was last night, who thought I'd find you at the lowest place who knew you'd find me in the crowd, you knew you'd made, I knew you'd make good of my mistakes. What a God, what a God. Guys we forget about that, don't we how powerful God is and what He's brought us through. You guys see the 2026 version of Shane Itelman, but not the 1990s. I think I found a picture in the archives for tonight if Aubrey uploaded a loss of about 80 pounds. I might have been saved, I don't know, but I was bound. I was successful, but very proud and pride goes before destruction.
Thomas Watson, a famous Puritan said, just as a worm ruins sweet fruit, pride ruins the saint. And I love Romans 10, 13, if everyone, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. That's good. Thanks, Sarah. But I want to ask this question. If everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, how much more when His children cry out to Him? Think about that all who cry out to the Lord will be saved. God will hear them. But how much more when His children, they come on a Saturday night and they say, God, if you don't move, we are lost. I need you to intervene on behalf of my prodigal. Lord, this week I want to hear from that prodigal. I want to hear from that way we're daughter. Lord, I've been caught in this today. I'm crying out to you and that's what's been my challenge all week taste and see that the Lord is good It says taste and see try me in this try me in this taste and see that the Lord is good Maybe some of you have drifted it's time to come home to the Savior. It's time to come home The prodigal son had to come to himself And when he came to himself, he ran to the father and guess what I love that picture of the father He's waiting. We have this idea of God sometimes like I Knew it. I knew you'd be back Now go clean up the manure He saw him and said is that my son? Is that my son and he ran he met him and he put him back up into place of a steam? He didn't knock him down trust me. You don't have to knock people down They've already been knocked down. They need a hope and encouragement Sometimes I reach out to fallen pastors and things people say how could you do that? Dude? He's already he's already been been annihilated
probably on the brink of suicide and They need people to come alongside and give them hope and encouragement and that's who we worship tonight But also as I said, this is a night of intercession every single one of you I'm sure you've got prayer requests. You've got people on your heart your son your daughter is addicted You don't know what to do. They've left they've left they've left Christianity. They've lost their mind They've went to maybe same sex attraction Maybe they have a partner and and things you've been praying you've been pleading Maybe your marriage is on the rocks Maybe you yourself are dealing with some serious things that unless God intervenes there is no hope And I have found he'll often get you to that spot He'll get you to that spot of just there's no other hope And you and you alone and I'm telling you that's a good spot to be That's a good spot to be because the Bible it either says trust in him with all your heart Trust in him with all your heart lean not on your understanding and the more we trust in him I mean either it means that or it doesn't And we've got to get back to that spot of just trusting in him and interceding for Even our kid maybe if your kids are small Grandkids Do you know your prayers now outlive you? I'm I'm I'm hope I'm still walking in the prayers of my mom I've told stories before she would come in my room. I sleep and she put her bible on my judas priest albums And metallica motley crew AC DC. I'm on a highway to hell drunk as a skunk and she puts that bible on there Mom, what are you doing my room? I'm praying for you. I'm praying for you Guys, you know there's lots of testimonies in this room You should have been dead about 20 years ago. Something should have took you out flirting With idolatry flirting with addiction flirting with rejecting god and yet his grace and his love That's what Ross talked about last time said before that his mercy always outpaces his judgment
But you got to catch up you got to embrace it and I know we do it a lot And we'll continue to do it, but I want I want to encourage you to come forward Maybe some of you men that have never done that before it's a step of humility is really what it is It's a step of humility and just saying god. I need to I need to I need a fresh filling of the spirit And I don't judge you because I've been at places You know, I last year I wrote the book. I almost quit. I felt like quitting for a long time I couldn't define exactly why I just I just need a fresh touch of god because you get into a rut You get in the same old thing and and life and prayers aren't being answered and and life beats you up And it's just it gets sometimes unbearable But I have found that those are the spots Those are the times Where you can seek god like never before and usually that pain pushes you to the cross that pain pushes you to that deep repentance Maybe repentance isn't warranted at least at least search for him And it says taste and you will see that the lord is good Taste and see that the lord is good. I will comfort you in your afflictions and even paul the great man of god said I am hard-pressed on every side But i'm not crushed i'm perplexed, but i'm not despair i'm persecuted, but I am not forsaken run to the cross And some of you I know you need a fresh filling of the holy spirit You've grown stagnant you've grown dull your spiritual life is is is just dead That's why we have rend the heaven spiritual resuscitation Get the get the defibrillator out here And and and and and and begin to taste and see again that god is good and you'll get that spiritual life back What happens is there might be some tears and then there's joy And then you open up the word of god and say oh this feels so good father to come back home Let me turn off that junk. Let me get rid of that relationship that's pulled me down. And you begin to be filled with the Spirit of God. And from that comes joy. And from that comes the fruit of the Spirit of love.
Joy, peace, contentment, long suffering, gentleness and self-control. You begin to control self instead of it controlling you. The Bible says repent and believe. Repent and believe and you will be saved. Thank God there's no checklist. Do you know a lot of, all religions have a work-based checklist? And you don't know until you get to heaven. You don't know until you, oh, okay. He's gonna weigh my goodness, oh, I hope I made it. Thank God. Thank God, one person made it. That's it. One person paid the price and I, you can actually walk boldly into the throne room of grace and you can walk and say, I stand here. Theologians call it the imputed righteousness of Christ. Did I take on you take on Christ's righteousness? Therefore we can stand before God because of what he did on the cross. But you have to repent and you have to believe. And then God saves you. And you get a wonderful gift, the Holy Spirit. I thank God for that gift, don't you? Can you imagine just me in robots? Oh, I think I'm saved, I prayed. I mean, but it actually the Holy Spirit cries out the Father. It cries out of, I have to worship. I have to worship, I have to pray. I have to seek him.
I have to know him in the fellowship of his suffering and Christ in me in the fullness of the gospel in my heart and thank God for the Holy Spirit. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music)
