So number six, God is jealous. Isn't it an awesome feeling when your children can't wait to just tell you about their day? My daughters could sit with me and relate to me every detail of everything that happened, what they were wearing, right? My boys on the other hand, it's a little bit harder to pry information from them, right? I'll say, hey buddy, how was your day? Fine. Cool. What'd you do? Same. Awesome. The thing is, I know most of the answers to that, those questions, right? I want to hear my kids tell me. And your relationship with God is the same way. Like, God already knows about you. He knows your struggles. He knows your victories. He knows what you're thinking. He knows what's happening in your day. He wants you to tell him. He wants you to talk to him. He wants you to be in a relationship with him. If you're a mother who's decided to have children and you think back about why you had children in the first place, right? When I was a young woman, I knew that I wanted children. The more, the better. I knew we would laugh together. I knew that we would play together. I knew that I would take care of them when they were young, but then that they would take care of me when I was old. I knew that I would start out as their parent, but eventually become like a best friend. It's the entire reason that we have children, is to have this incredibly special relationship that is unlike anything else that we have on this earth. The bond between a mother and her child is truly something we can't explain, right? And I'm so thankful that I have what I always wanted with my mother as one of my best friends and my adult daughter as my other, right? This is the very reason that God created us. There were already angels in heaven. God didn't need people. He didn't need another relationship. He desired a relationship that was so special and so unique. We're actually told in Scripture that the angels are amazed at the depth of the love God has for us. I love in Leviticus 26, 12, it says, I will walk among you and will be your God and you will be my people. I just said something about my people, like we're God's people, right? I want to hear more from my kids than just how their days were. I want to know their dreams in life. I want to know their fears. I want to know their passions. I want to know their doubts. I want them to come to me when

they need advice. I want them to know that if they need anything, I'm here to talk to them. And Acts 17, 27 shows us that God wants those same things. This verse tells us that God wants us to seek Him and reach out for Him and find Him because it says He is not far from any of us. As a mom, do you know that feeling when your daughter, she falls and she scrapes her knee and she runs into your arms to be comforted? Or that feeling when your son learns to ride his bike for the first time and he's jumping up and down, come watch, come watch, right? Like that shows a mother that her kids have this special love for her, right? I am jealous for those moments with my kids and so is God. But I want to explain the word jealous because I think we often have a misunderstanding. The world's view of jealousy and God's view of jealousy are a little bit different, right? So the world, when we use the word jealousy, we're usually referring to envy. We usually are coveting what someone else has, okay? But God's jealousy is very different. It says that God has jealous love which is like a consuming fire, okay? He is fully committed to us and He just desires for us to be fully committed in return. He desires for us to long to spend time with Him, to yearn to know Him. That's what He wants. He is jealous for those moments with you but His jealousy is divine and loyal. God is jealous for you. He wants you to cry to Him when you're hurt. He wants you to be excited to share things with Him and if you don't currently have that kind of relationship with Him, it's not too late to start. If my son for the first time ran up to me when he needed something and hugged me and he'd never done that before, I wouldn't say, nope, you've never done that before, that's weird. No, I would say, finally! You finally trust me! This is amazing! So you've never had that kind of emotional and just special relationship with Lord, it's not too late. He's not gonna push you away. He is waiting for you to come to Him.
