Milagros De Jesus, Octubre 11, 2026
- Good morning, fellowship. - Good morning, yes, fellowship. - It's so good to be here with you all this morning. - It's super well, and I'm thankful to God for another opportunity to gather together. (speaking in foreign language) - If you have your Bible, turn with me to John 11. (speaking in foreign language) - In this morning, we're concluding our series, The Miracles of Christ. (speaking in foreign language) - We've looked at some of the miracles that Jesus performed during his earthly ministry. (speaking in foreign language) - So he calmed the storm. (speaking in foreign language) - He helped his disciples catch more fish than their boat could hold. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - He healed many people. (speaking in foreign language) - He healed one of the men who came to arrest him. (speaking in foreign language) - In this morning, we're gonna look at the miracle that leads to his arrest and crucifixion. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - So let's stand as we read from God's word together. (speaking in foreign language)
- We're gonna read verses 38 through 44. (speaking in foreign language) - And Daniel will read for us in Spanish. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - Let's pray. (speaking in foreign language) Father, thank you for your word. (speaking in foreign language) Please speak to us through your word this morning. (speaking in foreign language) Please bless your word to our hearts. (speaking in foreign language) Lord, please glorify yourself through the teaching of your word. (speaking in foreign language)
I'm asking this in your precious name, Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) Amen. You can be seated. (speaking in foreign language) Does Daniel and I used to teach English as a second language? (speaking in foreign language) And we had students who were interested in reading the Bible. (speaking in foreign language) When some of them had never read the Bible before. (speaking in foreign language) Some of them came from countries where there's little to no access to the Bible. (speaking in foreign language) So we would start in Genesis. (speaking in foreign language) And we would eventually get to the life in the ministry of Christ. (speaking in foreign language) It was a long process. - But it was always fun and encouraging to watch their response to this particular miracle. (speaking in foreign language) - And the story begins by telling us that Lazarus was ill. (speaking in foreign language) - Lazarus was a close friend of Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - And Jesus loved Lazarus and his family. (speaking in foreign language)
- So Lazarus's sisters Mary and Martha send a message to Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - Jesus was across the Jordan River. (speaking in foreign language) - And he had left Jerusalem. (speaking in foreign language) - Because the religious leaders were there, they were trying to stone him for teaching that he is the Son of God. (speaking in foreign language) - So Jesus receives the message telling him the one you love is ill. (speaking in foreign language) - But Jesus doesn't immediately get up and go. (speaking in foreign language) - He doesn't rush to heal Lazarus, who he loved. (speaking in foreign language) - Listen to what he says. (speaking in foreign language) - Verse four. (speaking in foreign language) - But when Jesus heard it, he said this illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God so that the Son of God may be glorified through it. (speaking in foreign language) - So Jesus is telling us the primary purpose of this miracle. (speaking in foreign language)
- He's not neglecting Lazarus or the request of his friends. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - He wants to put his glory on display. (speaking in foreign language) - So he waits for Lazarus to die. (speaking in foreign language) - He's not interested in healing Lazarus of his illness. (speaking in foreign language) - He had already healed many people. (speaking in foreign language) - He wants to do something even more awesome. (speaking in foreign language) - He wants to raise Lazarus from the dead. (speaking in foreign language) - Because it will be an undeniable miracle that glorifies Christ. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - So he waits two more days. (speaking in foreign language) - Lazarus dies and he's buried. (speaking in foreign language) - And then he gathers his disciples and he says, "Okay, let's go back to Judea again." (speaking in foreign language) - And his disciples were confused by this. (speaking in foreign language) - Because the last time Jesus was there,
the religious leaders were trying to kill him. (speaking in foreign language) - So Jesus tells them why they need to go back. (speaking in foreign language) - He says, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, "but I will go wake him." (speaking in foreign language) - They didn't understand what Jesus was saying. (speaking in foreign language) - They said, "Lord, if he's just asleep, "then he'll eventually wake up on his own." (speaking in foreign language) - So Jesus tells them plainly. (speaking in foreign language) - Lazarus is dead. (speaking in foreign language) - And then he tells them why it's a good thing that he wasn't there to heal Lazarus. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) And this is another reason Jesus performs this miracle. He wants to deepen the faith of his disciples. So Jesus gets there and finds that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. And Martha comes to meet him. And she says, "Lord, if you had been here, this never would have happened." She knows that Jesus could have prevented this from happening. Because she knows and believes that Jesus is the Son of God. So Jesus tells her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha says, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."
Martha is thinking about the final resurrection. She's thinking about the day when our physical bodies will be raised up with Christ. Listen to Jesus' response. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live." And everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this? Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. In Exodus 3, God says, "I am who I am." That's what he told Moses. Jesus applies this divine title to himself. He says, "I am the resurrection and the life." He's not just declaring that he has the power to raise the dead to life. He's saying that he is the embodiment of life itself. He's saying, "I am the very source of physical and spiritual life." He's saying, "I am the very one who gives life and breath and everything." And then he makes a promise. What's the promise for everyone who believes in him? They will have eternal life. They will be raised up on the last day. There's no condemnation for those who are in Christ. That's the question he asked Martha. And this is a question for each of us in this room. Do you believe this? - (speaks in foreign language) - Martha responds to Jesus' question, and then she runs to get Mary. - (speaks in foreign language) - Mary quickly runs to meet Jesus.
- (speaks in foreign language) - She comes and she falls at his feet weeping. - (speaks in foreign language) - She says the same thing Martha said. - (speaks in foreign language) - Lord, if you had been here, this never would have happened. - (speaks in foreign language) - She's not angry with Jesus. - (speaks in foreign language) - She believed in him and was confident in his power. - (speaks in foreign language) - She was grieving the death of her brother. - (speaks in foreign language) - It says Jesus was deeply moved. - (speaks in foreign language) - This Greek word is used other times than the New Testament. - (speaks in foreign language) - And it describes a righteous anger that's mixed with deep sorrow. - (speaks in foreign language) - And this was Jesus' response to sin and death. - (speaks in foreign language) - It was never part of God's original design. - (speaks in foreign language) - Death entered the world as a consequence of sin. - (speaks in foreign language) - Lazarus' illness and death is the result of living in a sinful, broken world.
- (speaks in foreign language) - Jesus sees Mary and Martha and the people grieving and crying. - (speaks in foreign language) - We see the compassion of our Savior. - (speaks in foreign language) - He doesn't tell them to stop crying. - (speaks in foreign language) - He doesn't get angry with them for not knowing what he's about to do. - (speaks in foreign language) - He enters into their grief. - (speaks in foreign language) - He weeps with them. - (speaks in foreign language) - And the crowd sees this. (speaks in foreign language) - But some of the people were questioning him. (speaks in foreign language) - They said this man healed the blind. (speaks in foreign language) - Couldn't he have kept this from happening? (speaks in foreign language) - But what they didn't understand, it was all part of his plan. (speaks in foreign language) - It was all happening for his glory and for the good of those he loved. (speaks in foreign language) - So Jesus gets to the tomb. (speaks in foreign language)
- He tells them to move the stone away. (speaks in foreign language) - But then Martha interjects. (speaks in foreign language) - She's still skeptical. (speaks in foreign language) - She says, "Lord, he's been in there for four days." (speaks in foreign language) - At this point Lazarus' body was decaying. (speaks in foreign language) - He would have smelled like death. (speaks in foreign language) - Because he was dead. (speaks in foreign language) - He was totally dead. before God performs a miracle in our hearts. (speaking in foreign language) - We were dead in our sins. (speaking in foreign language) - We were not just sick. (speaking in foreign language) We were not just weakened. (speaking in foreign language) - We were not partly dead. (speaking in foreign language) - Like Lazarus in the tomb, we were completely dead. (speaking in foreign language) - We had no love for God. (speaking in foreign language) - We had no desire to submit to him
and live for his glory. (speaking in foreign language) - We were totally unwilling and unable to come to Christ. (speaking in foreign language) - And we had no power to make ourselves spiritually alive. (speaking in foreign language) - We were completely dependent upon God to perform a miracle in our hearts. (speaking in foreign language) - Lazarus couldn't do anything. (speaking in foreign language) - He had no power to raise himself. (speaking in foreign language) - And there was nothing any of the people could do either. (speaking in foreign language) - What would have happened if Martha and Mary just stood out there crying for Lazarus to come out? (speaking in foreign language) - Nothing. (speaking in foreign language) - He was dead. (speaking in foreign language) - And they didn't have the power to raise the dead to life. (speaking in foreign language) - We don't either. (speaking in foreign language) - We can stand in front of a person with tears in our eyes and plead with them to repent and believe. (speaking in foreign language) - But unless God performs a miracle in their heart,
they will never do it. (speaking in foreign language) - Lazarus would have stayed in that tomb forever if Jesus hadn't performed a miracle. (speaking in foreign language) - So after they removed the stone from the tomb? (speaking in foreign language) - Jesus says a short prayer. (speaking in foreign language) - Father, I know you always hear me. (speaking in foreign language) - But I'm saying this to you so that everyone around me may believe that you sent me. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - Jesus wanted the people to know that he was sent by the Father. (speaking in foreign language) - He wanted them to know that he is truly the son of God. (speaking in foreign language) - And he was sent by the Father and he came to do the will of the Father. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - What's the will of the Father? (speaking in foreign language) - It's not a mystery. (speaking in foreign language) - Jesus tells us clearly. (speaking in foreign language)
- John chapter six, verse 40. (speaking in foreign language) - For this is the will of my Father that everyone who looks on the son and believes in him should have eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day. (speaking in foreign language) - So what's the will of the Father? (speaking in foreign language) - That we believe in Jesus. (speaking in foreign language) - And the promise for all who do is eternal life. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - We will be raised up with him on the last day. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) Lazarus, come out. (speaking in foreign language) He called Lazarus by name. (speaking in foreign language) This is what he does. (speaking in foreign language) He calls us by name. (speaking in foreign language) In chapter 10. (speaking in foreign language) Jesus says, "I am the good shepherd." (speaking in foreign language) The good shepherd knows his sheep.
(speaking in foreign language) And his sheep know his voice. (speaking in foreign language) It says he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) We belong to him because he first loved us and has called us by name. (speaking in foreign language) Jesus loved Lazarus. (speaking in foreign language) He called Lazarus by name. (speaking in foreign language) And Lazarus came out of the grave. (speaking in foreign language) I like what Spurgeon says about this. (speaking in foreign language) He says, "Jesus called Lazarus by name." (speaking in foreign language) Otherwise, every other dead body would have risen from the dead at his word. (speaking in foreign language) That's the power of the word of God. (speaking in foreign language) No one who saw this miracle praised Lazarus for anything he did. (speaking in foreign language) Because Lazarus didn't do anything. (speaking in foreign language) He didn't do any work.
(speaking in foreign language) He didn't choose to wake up on his own. (speaking in foreign language) He simply responded to the life-giving power of the word of Christ. (speaking in foreign language) This is a picture of sovereign grace. (speaking in foreign language) We were dead in our sins. (speaking in foreign language) But God, pero deos. God did something. (speaking in foreign language) God made us alive in Christ. (speaking in foreign language) He called us by name. (speaking in foreign language) He resuscitated our dead hearts. (speaking in foreign language) He made our dead hearts begin beating with love for him. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) He called us out of the tomb where we were rotting in our sin. (speaking in foreign language) He gifted us faith. (speaking in foreign language) And our faith unites us to Christ who is our life. (speaking in foreign language) This is amazing grace.
(speaking in foreign language) By grace you have been saved through faith. (speaking in foreign language) This is not your own doing. (speaking in foreign language) It is the gift of God. (speaking in foreign language) Thanks be to God. (speaking in foreign language) It's all of grace. (speaking in foreign language) It takes a divine miracle to raise someone from the dead. (speaking in foreign language) And it takes a divine miracle to make a dead heart begin to beat with love for God. (speaking in foreign language) So after Jesus raises Lazarus. (speaking in foreign language) It says many of the Jews believed in him. (speaking in foreign language) The religious leaders who hated Jesus didn't like this at all. - They made plans to kill him. - No. (speaking in foreign language) - They knew they had to kill him or more people would continue to believe in him. (speaking in foreign language) - So they eventually arrest him and plan to crucify. (speaking in foreign language)
- What? (speaking in foreign language) - What they didn't know is all part of God's divine plan to save his people. (speaking in foreign language) - So they nail him to the cross? (speaking in foreign language) - He dies on the cross for the sins of his people. (speaking in foreign language) - They buried him in a tomb. (speaking in foreign language) - At that point, the religious leaders thought they had gotten rid of him. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - But three days later. (speaking in foreign language) - He rose from the grave. (speaking in foreign language) - He defeated sin. (speaking in foreign language) - He conquered death. (speaking in foreign language) - And he guarantees that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life and be raised up on the last day. (speaking in foreign language) - And it's all for the praise of his glory. (speaking in foreign language) - He raised Lazarus from the dead for his glory. (speaking in foreign language)
- He raises us from spiritual death for his glory. (speaking in foreign language) - And he works all things together for our good and his glory. (speaking in foreign language) - So here at Fellowship, we like to share stories about how God is glorifying himself through the lives of his people. (speaking in foreign language) - Look at this example of how God uses an illness to bring glory to himself. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) - Take a look at this. (speaking in foreign language) - My name is Shannon Page, and I have lived here in Arkansas almost my whole life. I've been at Fellowship from the first day it started at the Anthony School, met my husband there. We got married early and raised for children, and now we have eight grandchildren. When I was 40 years old, my heart started racing like crazy. Just out of the blue, I started feeling really bad. Well, I had a condition called SVT, Superventricular Tachycardia. They gave me medication. I took it twice a day. It slowed my heart down for the most part, but it slowed my whole body down.
My quality of life was not great. It was real hard to get up in the morning. I was sluggish and tired all the time. My husband and I, we were active in our four kids' lives. I couldn't run if I needed to. I couldn't dance anymore. I couldn't walk upstairs. So fast forward to July the 20th, 2008. A friend invited me to St. Andrew's Church. They were having a night service, a praise and worship service. The pastor said, "Turn to the person next to you and tell them your prayer requests." And so I said, "Well, I'm always praying that the Lord will heal my heart, but I don't think you will, but I think that's my prayer request." All of a sudden, I felt a warm, wonderful sensation. I don't know how to explain it, but I remember it. And the next morning I woke up and I was feeling terrible. And I took my pulse and it was 42. That is so low. If you have a normal sinus rhythm and you take the heavy medication that I was taking, that's gonna slow that heart rate way on down. So I called my cardiologist that I went to, you know, regularly for my condition and he was a believer and I said, "I think God might have healed me." And he said, "Well, let's see." They did the EKG and all the things. And he said, "You have a normal sinus rhythm."
He said, "Let's come back in six months and see." And then I did and it was normal sinus rhythm. He said, "Shanning, you don't ever have to come back again." I just kept taking my pulse every like minute. I know God healed me, but Lord, did you heal me? I mean, you know, I believe, help me to believe. And so I'm forever grateful for that. So my heart's healed. I've been praying for the Lord to heal me from my fears. I was afraid to fly in airplanes. I used to be afraid of elevators. I was afraid of tall buildings. I was afraid of being put to sleep in the hospital. I was afraid of germs. I was afraid that my husband would die or my children would die. I tried not to fear, but I couldn't do it on my own. And I didn't want to be like that. I wanted to be, you know, courageous and unafraid, but I could not help how my feelings were. My life is so much better being unafraid. And the Bible says do not fear more than, I think anything, I'm not sure, but it's a lot of times. I am not afraid of anything. Not only did he save me, miracle number one, he healed my heart number two, and then he delivered me from all my fears, number three. I just want to say thank you, Jesus. I love him so much. I mean, I've loved him since I was a little girl,
but my love for him now is so much greater. And I trust him so much. And he's been so faithful to me. And we've been through hard, hard times, but I know he's there because he's been there for me all along. Psalm 105 says, tell about the wondrous acts of the Lord has done for you. Sing his praises, tell everybody about what he's done, his marvelous deeds. And so that's what I'm doing. Amen. Glory to God. Glory to you. Because of what he's done in her life, her heart is filled with love and gratitude to God. (speaking in foreign language) I'm gonna great her love for him and thankfulness to him glorifies him. A greater love for him glorifies him. (speaking in foreign language) I know some of you are here this morning with an illness. (speaking in foreign language) Some of you have been suffering physically for a long time. (speaking in foreign language) And maybe you've been praying and asking for the Lord to heal you, but he hasn't. (speaking in foreign language) Listen to me carefully. (speaking in foreign language)
It's not because God doesn't hear your prayers. (speaking in foreign language) It's not because your faith isn't strong enough. (speaking in foreign language) It's not because he doesn't love you. (speaking in foreign language) God hears your prayers and he loves you. (speaking in foreign language) He might heal you if that's his will. (speaking in foreign language) But he might not. (speaking in foreign language) His response to you might be the same as his response to Paul. (speaking in foreign language) Paul pleaded with God to remove the thorn from his flesh. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) Did God take it away? (speaking in foreign language) No, no. He said, "My grace is sufficient for you." (speaking in foreign language) God might allow your pain and suffering to continue or maybe get even worse. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) But it's not meaningless. (speaking in foreign language) God is doing something.
(speaking in foreign language) Continue to trust him. (speaking in foreign language) Trust that his ways are higher than your ways. (speaking in foreign language) Trust that he's using it for your good and his glory. (speaking in foreign language) Remember. (speaking in foreign language) God loved Lazarus. (speaking in foreign language) And he allowed Lazarus to become ill and die. (speaking in foreign language) (speaking in foreign language) Why? (speaking in foreign language) To display his divine power. (speaking in foreign language) To deepen the faith of his disciples. (speaking in foreign language) So others would come to believe in him. (speaking in foreign language) He is glorified in our suffering. All glory be to Christ. Father again, thank you for your word. Thank you for this promise. That if we believe in you, we will not die, we will have eternal life. Lord, thank you for your love. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for calling us out of darkness.
And in tomorrow's light. We love you, Jesus. Help us to trust you more and love you more. And use us as you see fit for your glory, Lord. It's in your precious name we pray. but it's just a moment to go to house, you know? - Amen. - Amen.
