I'm the senior lead pastor at Mercy Culture Church. We wanted to welcome you to Mercy Culture. Welcome to DFW. Welcome to Mark Conference, who's ready for a life-changing weekend in the presence of God. (audience cheering) So I've got the honor to open up Mark Conference every year. And I usually say something like this that a lot of you are guests. So when you come into someone else's house, it's important to know they're house rules. If you ever play in games with somebody, it's important that you know how they play because whoever owns the house set the rules. And Mercy Culture is pretty different than a lot of churches and a lot of ministries. So I want to let you know the house rules. When I asked the Lord why He wanted us to start a Mercy Culture, I finally said, Lord, I'll do it. Just tell me why. He gave me five things.

At Mercy Culture, we call them unique characteristics. But one of them was, he said, I want you to empower women in ministry at a level you've never seen modeled before. Now, I had no idea at the time that the only people, the person that is resistant more in the body of Christ than the Holy Spirit is women. But I want to let you know, this morning you're in this house. I'm the apostolic leader in this house. I'm the senior leader in this house. And so I want to let you know that your hands all over this place, you are free to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. I pray the same thing the prophet Joel prophesied that happened in Acts chapter two. If you got a prayer language, go ahead and just use your prayer language right now. I pray right now that your sons and daughters would prophesy. I pray, oh, wisdom, the Holy Spirit would sleep across this place. I pray healing would break out. Miracles would break out. Freedom would break out. Deliverance would break out. Holy Spirit, we say we don't make real trick you, but we give you the entire room. So we say, Holy Spirit, have your way in this place.

"Lord, I'm expecting and I'm anticipating your presence." And He said, "I've been expecting you, anticipating you." And I just fell to the floor for a moment and just loved on the Lord. So right now, can you just love on Him? Some of you came thousands and thousands of miles. Can you just love on Him for a moment? There's the reason you came. Come on, let Him renew you. There's the highest place I preach is that your dream, that I've done it all. If the best thing that I've seen is your glory, that I've seen it all. Your love has changed my life, forever satisfied, not you, not me. The only word you speak is so hard to eat, then I have it all. If I feel your heart and never see your heart, I'll still have it all. No treasures of this life, you'll never satisfy. You are my age. You are your heart. You are my everything. You are my everything. As I was praying for this moment, Tuesday at our staff meeting, I heard the Lord say, "It's time to establish His reign." You see, in Joshua 1-3 it says every place that the soul of your foot would shred upon. I have given to you, and what we see in this passage is it says, "Moses your servant is dead." You see, He's raising up a Joshua generation that would take the land that the previous generation was afraid to. And I felt like the Lord showed me a picture of this room, and I know it's crowded, but I saw this picture of this room, and we were getting ready to tread ground, because everywhere that the soul of your feet would tread, it belongs to Him. He said, "Bride, your job is to establish His reign. That means when you're treading through your living room. That means when you're going to the grocery store. That I put my feet, if it all to you, and I heard this phrase everywhere, that I place my feet. I'm establishing your reign. I'm establishing your reign. And so church, would you lift your hand, bride, would you lift your hand? And I want you to just in rhythm. I want you to begin to move your feet, like you're in the Lord's army. Come on, and we're taking territory, and we're shredding. And we say everywhere, that we place our feet. It belongs to you, all everywhere. I place my feet, if it all to you. You're speaking to those who felt weak and weary. And you said it's not about your strength. It's about my strength. I see moms weeping in their rooms, feeling overwhelmed, overcome, and the Holy Spirit says, oh, daughter, you don't need to look inside. You need to look up. And so, I'm just declaring this room right now. We speak to the weary. We speak to the broken. We say, look up, daughter. You're receiving your strength. You're taking up your armor. And you're establishing his reign. Yeah, just sing that one more time. You are who you'll know everything and everything. You are who you'll know everything and everything. Jesus. You are who you are. Jesus. Come on, don't you just love the presence of God? I just want to encourage you. Sometimes we're so used to putting on armor for others that we try to put on armor for him. And that's not the way it works. We take off the armor when we're in the safety of our God so he can build us up. And then we put it on when we go to war. You're bright today. We have been praying for each and every one of you here in person and those of you who are watching online everywhere you are at. We've been praying for you. We heard the Lord say over a year ago to establish His reign and to anticipate His reign, to anticipate a great outpouring. And woman, I want you to be aware to lean in all conference long. God's presence is in this place, and you are experiencing an outpouring of His spirit. [CHEERING] Oh, I love this place. I look forward to a marked women's conference every single year. My name is Kayla Morrow, and I am one of the lead pastors here. I oversee with my husband, Pastor Seth, Mercy Culture Austin.

[CHEERING] And it's been incredible seeing God's presence in Austin. I also get the honor and privilege of overseeing marked women's conference. And before we start, I just want to take a moment to honor Pastor Heather, our senior pastor. [CHEERING] Love you. [CHEERING] It's been a journey, and just one of the greatest privileges of getting to steward what God is releasing over women in this hour with you. And we wouldn't be here today without you. Without you leaning into what God is releasing, you being a yielded, willing vessel and showing women what it looks like to hear God and obey Him at all costs. We love you. We honor you. We are experiencing our fifth marked women's conference. And every single year, it gets more wild and more wild, and we get marked. The vision of this house is that we exist to take people from corporate encounters with God to daily personal encounters with God. This is Ezekiel. His name is Ezekiel Jehu Uriah Wheeler. And he's nine months old and just so cute. I just got two cute little chunkers. But that's my incredible family. I wanna just start by honoring my husband. I think he's watching on the live stream right now, but Pastor Lanan came up here earlier and talked about how we empower women in ministry here at Mercy Culture. And it's pretty incredible to be a part of a house that does that.

But my husband represents one of hundreds, thousands of men, husbands, fathers that are at home right now that are serving the women of God in this room. My husband, I wanna honor you, Connor. First Samuel 12, we're gonna do verses 12 and 13 and then 16 and 18.

16 and 18. It says, "And when you saw that Nahash, the king of the Emmonites, came against you, you said to me, 'No, but a king shall reign over us.' When the Lord's your God was your king. And now behold the king whom you have chosen for whom you have exced. Behold, the Lord has set a king over you." Verse 16, "Now therefore stand still and see this great thing that the Lord will do before your eyes." He says, "Is it not wheat harvest today? "and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, "which you have done in the sight of the Lord, "and asking for yourselves a king." So Samuel called upon the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day, and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel. I came here to tell you today, marked women's conference that only the reign of God can break familiarity off of you. The title of today's message is "Pray for Rain." Let's pray. Lord, we love you. We honor you. We just say you're the one that we all came for. We didn't come for a person. We didn't come for a worship team. We didn't come for a song. We came to encounter you,

the one true living God this weekend. And so we just say, "Come and get your glory in this place." I just say, Lord, come and be exalted. Come and be exalted in this place. I thank you that all the prayers that have went forth this weekend, Lord, all the prayers and the declarations that have went forth this week leading into this weekend, Lord, let them be manifested in the earth now. Let them come forth now in the name of Jesus. Father, I pray that you give us ears to hear you, eyes to see you clearly, and I pray for minds that can understand you hearts that are open to receive from you, Father, come, and do what only you can do in us today, Lord. And so we say, speak, Lord, your servants, your friends are listening. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. All right, so I've never felt more warfare preparing a sermon than I did preparing this sermon. I'm just gonna start off and be real authentic with you guys. It was crazy. Every time I sat down to prepare this message, I just felt like complete confusion coming on me. It was wild. It's been a journey this week. What that lets me know is that this is a word and do season for every woman in this room. And I believe for the body of Christ. So I wanna challenge you before we get started.

I know y'all like conferences. I know you like Mercy Culture. I know you like these moments. You got your girls weekend, you got your homies, you're doing your thing. It's fun and it's awesome. But I wanna challenge you, lean in spiritually this morning. Lean in spiritually all weekend. Be hungry for what God has for you because I know I'm not the only one. Pastor Heather had a very similar journey this week as we prepared these sermons. And so I just wanna let you know the Lord brought you here very strategically, very specifically. And he has a word for you this weekend, all weekend. He's gonna be ministering to you directly. Amen? And so I have a warning for you. I'm gonna start off with a warning. Welcome to Mercy Culture. I'm gonna give you a warning from the top. Here's my warning. Familiarity with your heavenly King will cause you to cry out for an earthly King. If you grow familiar with your heavenly King, you will cry out for an earthly King. That is my warning to you this morning. We see this a few chapters before the main text that I just read in first Samuel.

Hey, here's what happens. You guys know this story, but Israel came to Samuel and they demanded a King. They said, "Give us a King like all the other nations." Samuel was grieved by this request. And so it says that he went before the Lord and he was like, "God, what do we do?" And the Lord's response to him was, "They have not rejected you. They have rejected me from being King over them." And so God tells Samuel, "Just go warn them." He says, "Just go tell them what this other King is gonna mean for them. Go give them all the things that are gonna come with this other King." And so he does that, he goes to them and he basically is like, "Hey, it's important that you know that if you get this King that you're asking for, this King is only going to take from you." And this King is actually going to make you his slave. So he warns them and somehow after the warning, after all the warnings, they doubled down and they still demanded a King. And so Saul gets appointed as the King of Israel. He gets chosen to stand in that place. And I used to think when I read this story, I just had this myself read all the time and be like, "What are they thinking?" Like, who in their right mind would have a prophet come

to them and give that number of warnings and still be like, "No, we want the other guy." (congregation laughing) You know what I'm saying? I'm like, "What are you guys thinking? What are you actually doing?" And I started to think, "Man, it's crazy. We do this all the time." We do this all the time. It looks different than what it looks like in this story. But there's so many moments we read scripture and we look at it like it's some crazy thing that somebody did but God put it in the scripture 'cause he knew we would need it for today, that you would need it for your life, right? And so the thing, so the question is, what would make people reject a King who has never ever failed them? What is the thing that would cause people through. And all this things. Why would they reject Him? The answer is where we're going to talk about today, and it's this word familiarity. It's familiarity. And so let's talk about familiarity for a second. Familiarity is when repeated exposure causes a loss of wonder, a loss of reverence, a loss of hunger, a loss of honor. It often looks like extreme casualness or constant criticism regarding something that you once held with Heaven's honor, with Heaven's perspective, right? At Mercy Culture we have a value where we say honor is assigning Heaven's value to something.

When you honor something, you're saying, "Lord, I'm going to place your value for that thing on it, and I'm going to live from that place." That's what honor is. Familiarity settles in when you stop assigning Heaven's value to the people and the things around you. Familiarity is marked by what I like to call severe honor deficiency. It sounds like a rare disease, don't it? Severe honor deficiency. You will find familiarity in any place that you're lacking honor. This is when you speak to your boss with more respect and more honor than you speak to your husband. It's a lack of honor for your husband. That is called familiarity. This is when the church that you once cherished is just not all that anymore. You know God brought you there. You've been set free. You've been delivered in that place, but all of a sudden you show up and it's really not that big of a deal to you anymore. What's happening? You're lacking in honor. You've become familiar with your church. This is how you can be in the presence of God and just drink a coffee and be like, "Oh, I wonder who's going to sing if they're going to sing my song today." It would be like coming to a conference and thinking about the song that the worship team is going to sing, hoping they sing your favorite song instead of thinking about what God wants to do in your life regardless. I hope none of y'all came thinking like that, right? But that would be familiarity. That would be a lack of honor for what God wants to do freshly in a moment. It's like the leader that you once respected, but now all you could do is critique them.

You've lost honor for them. You've grown familiar with them. That's how it works. And so familiarity is silent and it's a very subtle thing. It creeps. We're often unaware of its presence. It's kind of like there are these moments at home when after a long day, Connor and I will be getting ready for bed, we'll be having our little pillow talk time just finishing up our conversations or whatever. And then my husband just has this habit of going into really deep conversations right at the end of the night. Anybody else? I'll just start talking about like just a lot of really deep stuff and I'm tired. You know? God, we got too little. I'm a tired woman sometimes. And so he'll start talking and then the next thing I know, he's like, "Bae, I'm like what?" He's like, "Where are you sleeping?" I'm like, "No." [laughter] Y'all know what I'm talking about? Some of you are the ones that fall asleep. Others of you are the ones that get falling asleep on, but we all know this moment, right? And what's crazy about the moment is you didn't even know you fell asleep, right? You had no idea. They wake you up and you're like, "What?" They're like, "Did you hear what I said?" You're like, "Yeah!" Like, "Well, tell me what I said." "Oh, and you can't remember what was said."

Why? Because you didn't even know you were sleeping. That's how familiarity works. It just slips in there. It's subtle. You don't even know that it happened, right? Recently, I got to learn just how subtle familiarity is personally. We were getting ready for Easter Sunday here at Mercy Culture. And as we were preparing the setlist, the songs that we were going to sing for Easter Sunday, usually you know you sing songs about the resurrection. You sing songs about Jesus resurrected like that's the moment, right? He got up. Came out of the grave. That's the song just what I was just saying. But for some reason, God started speaking to us about singing songs about the second coming of Christ. And so we're preparing the set, got these songs on there about Jesus coming back again. And I remember having the thought, "Lord, isn't there something else we can sing?" I just had this little thought of like, "I don't think I want to sing that, Lord. Is there something else we can sing?" please tell me you have a different setlist. And I remember feeling this little conviction come in, this little like, "Ooh, that felt kind of icky. What's happening in my heart?" And then one of the girls, the women of God on our team, she starts to share this dream that she had on the Thursday night that we were rehearsing for the set. She said, "I had this dream and in this dream there were a bunch of women." They were screaming. They were crying out to God, repenting to God for being familiar with His mercy, for being familiar with His grace. They were wailing out to God, crying out, repenting for being familiar, asking Him for the fear

of the Lord." And she said, "And then there was a different group of women in the room, the other women, they were all sleep." And I was like, "Ooh, that was a very interesting dream. I wonder who that's about." And so she has it and I'm like, "That's for somebody." And then she tells us that she actually had the dream three nights in a row. And every time she had the dream, the wailing got louder. The cries were louder and more intense, and she said she woke up hearing them in her spirit. And as she's telling us this, it dawns on me. Thank you, Holy Spirit. As she's telling us this, it dawns on me, this dream is for us. I know we're the ones ministering. I know we're the ones standing on stage. I know we're the Christians that know God. I know we're the ones that pray in tongues. I know we're the ones that pray for people, the ones that preach. I know we're those people, but that dream still somehow was for us. It's kind of like you in the room right now that maybe you have that little slight thought. Man, this sermon isn't for me. I go to church every Sunday. I encounter God every day. I had a dream last night that was prophetic, like I'm very spiritual, ma'am. We were those people too. We were the ones having dreams too. And God began to speak to us and said, "No, no, no, no. You've grown familiar. This is a moment that you should be crying out wailing asking me to return the fear of the Lord to you." And so we are all convicted on that Thursday night and we started repenting to the Lord.

We started asking the Lord to bring us back to our first love, to bring us back to a place of the fear of the Lord. And as we're singing the songs that I was feeling bored with before, we're singing those songs in rehearsal that night. And all of a sudden I started getting glimpses of faces of people, the moment they saw Jesus crack through the sky in the moment he came back. I started seeing the faces, the face of the atheists that swore up and down. He wasn't real. I saw the face of the Buddhist that says, "Surely that man is not real. That's a fable." I saw the face of the Muslim that said, "Oh, he's just a prophet." I saw the face of the Christian that said, "Man, I've heard this before. This is going to happen way down the road. This is something I got to think about right now." I saw the faces of the people in the moment that he came through the room, through the sky. And the look on the faces that I saw were sheer terror. It was terror. Some of you may get uncomfortable with me using that word. You may say, "Oh, God's not scary. He's loving. He's God." But if you've ever had an encounter with God, if you've seen the real facets of who he is, you would understand he is terrifying. He is so magnificent. He is so brilliant. He is so mighty. He is shining bright. He's got fire in his eyes. He's got a sword coming out of his mouth.

Have you ever seen anything like that before? He's terrifying. He's terrifying. And I saw the faces. And just like that, God used that encounter with him to shake me out of familiarity. And I was up here right here in this spot, weeping in the presence of God, asking the Lord to forgive me. I became one of those wailing women. The problem with the dream that she had is you're either one or the other. In the dream, there were two options. It was the ones who were crying out saying, "God, forgive me for being familiar." Or they were the ones sleeping. Those were the two options in the room. So God used this dream. He used this encounter to bring me out of this familiarity. And the problem with familiarity isn't the extreme exposure to something, right? We go to church every week. We're part of the local body. You guys are in the presence of God all the time, right? The problem is not repeated exposure to something. That's how we get to know God, right? Being with him regularly. So that's not the problem. The problem is when you have repeated exposure with no renewed honor, right? That's how you end up in familiarity. It's the lack of honor. And so it reminds me of what happened with Israel, right? They're constantly, they're walking with God, they're having all these crazy encounters. There's this constant exposure. gave to them as he said, "Whenever these victories happen, I need you to take a memorial, make a

memorial stone, make a memorial where you can go back to it, and every time you look at that thing, you remember what God did." Why is he telling them to do that? Because he's trying to protect them from familiarity. He's trying to keep them from that place. We see it in 1 Samuel 7, 12. It says, "Samuel took a stone and set it up between Miss Pa and Shen and called its name Ebenezer, for he said, 'Til now the Lord has helped us." That word Ebenezer literally means a stone of help. So what happens every time Samuel passes by, he remembers, "Oh, my God helps. My God is the God of victory." He remembers. So you need to know, forgiveness always precedes familiarity. If you don't remember his goodness, if you stop remembering, you are on your way into familiarity. Let me tell you how this looks. There's these moments where we're in worship, and we're like, "Everybody lift your hands." And we're like, "Let's just take a moment and remember God's goodness. Just take a moment to meditate on what God's done for you." Y'all know what I'm talking about? And in those moments, usually, maybe you think about one thing, you're like, "Oh, thank you for saving me." And then that's it. And then you're like, "Okay, keep going with the bridge. I love this part." Right? When you do that, you're showing me, you're telling on yourself, you haven't been remembering. You haven't actually remembered. If you don't have a list of things stored up where you can say, "Lord, thank you that I'm in my right mind. I remember that time where I was bound in depression. Thank you for setting me free for homosexuality. I remember when I was bound in that relationship. Thank you for setting me free for wanting to kill myself because I wanted to lose my life at some point. Thank you for all the things right. You have to remember the goodness of God in your life. You have to set up memorial stones because forgiveness precedes familiarity. Again, familiarity is silent, it's subtle, and we're often unaware of its presence. And we're often unaware of what it costs us. You have to know familiarity always costs you something. It will cost you. Think it won't, if you want to, it will cost you something. Three things that familiarity will always cost you, that I want you to be aware of. The first thing is it will cost you God's hand. When you live in familiarity, you forfeit his mighty hand. We see it in Mark 6 verses 3 through 5. They said, "Is this not the carpenter boy?" Right? What? Familiarity. This is the son of Mary and the brothers of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon. And are not his sisters here with us? Oh, we know his sister. He's not all that. Right? They're familiar with him. And it says they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor,

except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household." And then he says this, "And he could not do, and he could do no mighty works there, except that he laid hands on a few sick people and healed them." That word mighty work is the word "dunamous." It means power, strength, ability, might, or what? Miracles. He could do no miracles there. And so their familiarity or their lack of honor, it costed them the miracles that their family needed. It costed them the strength that they needed for the season. It costed them the might that they needed for the situation that they were walking into. When you live in familiarity, you forfeit the miracles of God in your life. How many times has God been moving in a room doing miracles, but your boredom won't even allow you to properly honor his presence? The moments where somebody is getting healed in the corner, and you're over here bored with God, that is familiarity. It will cost you the second thing that familiarity cost you. Number one, it costs God's hand. The second thing is it costs God's heart. When you live in familiarity, you forfeit his heart. In Luke 11, there is this moment where the disciples were so in all of Jesus, they were so amazed by him. They loved his prayer life to the point to where they went to him, and they said, "Will you teach us how to pray?" They were in all of him, right? Those same disciples, a few of them, by Luke 22, Jesus is praying the thing that they were wanting in all of. Sleep, probably slobbering. Just knocked out. So what is it that would cause the same disciples that were so in all of them in Luke 11, to all of a sudden be falling asleep in Luke 22 while he's praying? What, they were bored. They were familiar with him. And so what it ends up doing is they miss an opportunity to hear Jesus pouring out his what? His heart to the Father. They could have heard what he was saying in the most vulnerable moment of his life. The moment where Jesus is pouring out his heart.

They were doing what? They were sleeping. They were bored with him. They were not in awe of him anymore. Familiarity will cost you. It will cause you to forfeit the heart of God. And some of you were like, man, Jasmine, you tripping. Like, I love God. You don't love God. Like, that was for a few of you in the room. But like, you would say, I love God. If Jesus was sleeping and I was there, I would just get him some water in the pillow. Like, you're like, I'm a real one. I can hear some of you all. Y'all looking at me like this ain't for me. Listen. Those were the disciples that had been walking with him. The closest. Those were his three closest disciples. And somehow they were still sleeping. So what makes you different? How are you not at risk of that the way they were? Right? You have to be aware, right? I said it's subtle, it's silent, it creeps in. And so how many times have you missed discerning the hour that you were in? Or how many times have you missed hearing what was on God's heart about something

because you approached the invitation casually? Familiarity will do that to you. The third thing that familiarity costs you, so number one is God's hand, number two is God's heart. The third thing that costs you is God's hour. When you live in familiarity, it's hard to discern the hour that you're in. Right after they left the garden, after Jesus is pleading with them to stay awake, Jesus is betrayed by Judas. You guys know how the story goes. The soldiers show up to take Jesus to begin this journey to the cross. And what we know here is that Jesus knew the hour that he was in. He knew. How do we know that? Because right before that he's in the garden, he's like, Lord, is there another way to do this? Right? He was aware of the hour that he was in. But when it happens, good old Peter, he wake up, he probably got them little eye crusties in his eyes, little slobbers, like, you know, when you get that dry slobber right there from a real good nap. I don't act like y'all don't know what I'm talking about. Just 'cause we had a women's conference. Y'all know about the little crusty

when you really sleep in heart, right? You gotta make sure you watch your Facebook or you go in public. Like Peter probably had that. Like he's just waking up and he has no idea what's going on. He runs over to one of the soldiers and what does he do? Cut something here. Right? He thought he was in a time of war. But Jesus knew that it was a time of surrender. And so Jesus is like, all right, here we go. Take me guys, you got me, right? And Peter's like, no! Slicing, cutting off ears. Peter's familiarity, the one who was just sleeping while Jesus was praying caused him not to discern the outward that he was living in. And because he didn't know the hour that he was living in, he responded wrong. (congregation laughing) And I love y'all, but some of y'all are like Peter. Some of y'all are like Peter because your familiarity with God has caused you to be unaware of the hour that you're living in, you're on social media responding wrong. You're in your home responding wrong. You're with your friends responding wrong

in a moment that you should be responding from heaven's perspective. You're responding from a carnal fleshly place cutting off ears. (congregation clapping) I think it's interesting, even in that moment, Jesus says Jesus comes and he heals the man who just got his ear cut off. Like even in that moment, Jesus is on his way to do what he's supposed to be doing. And because Peter out here just fighting in the flesh in a moment where he should be in the spirit, Jesus stops everything he's doing and comes and fixes it. That's crazy. Peter was out of timing. He was out of order because he was familiar with the Lord. He was familiar with Jesus. I'm amazed how often I look in comments of posts and things like that. And I see Christians that I know, Christians that I love just out here doing the most Like I'm looking around the room, like somebody I look like the nicest ladies, you look so kind, you look so cute. Gotcha, outfit on, you know, when you in here, you're like, yeah, my name is Jenny, but when you're in the comments, you're like, I'm Jenny, like you're just like, like you lose your mind in the comments.

Like, I'm like, what happened to Jenny? Like, where did she go? You know what I'm saying? Like, it's like you turn into a different person. What's happening? You're responding wrong. And the only reason that I could think that you would do something like that is if you were familiar with God. If you started thinking, God don't care about the comments. God cares about other stuff, but like, he don't care about this space. This is just different. Like, he understands. What's that familiarity? He's the God of all creation. He's the one that forms your body. He's the one that breathes light into your bones. Don't tell me that he doesn't have an opinion about everything. Don't tell me that he doesn't have a perspective. Don't tell me that he doesn't have something to say. So either you're hearing him or you've decided that he has nothing to say. That is familiarity. That's the voice of familiarity. And so when we're posting, when we're making our, our social media posts, we're responding to things, usually the first thing that we think of is who's gonna see it?

Who's gonna comment? How many followers am I gonna gain? But for some reason, you're not asking, what does God think? What's his perspective about this? Remember, Peter didn't know what God was doing so he cut off ears. You will never have a response that pleases the Lord if you don't know what God is doing. Never. And I wanna give you a tool this morning that has helped me in how I approach my response to things. I'm not preaching a message about social media right now, but like, man, we need, we, somebody need to preach it. 'Cause we out here doing the most as believers on social media. And it's a lot of ladies that be in the comments. So if you out there, I'm talking to you. Some of y'all didn't laugh, that is probably you, it's fine. It's all right, I love you anyway. So let me give you this tool that I use. I'm gonna call it the three dimensional perspective. It sounds daunting, it's not, just follow me here. A lot of us live from a one dimensional perspective. This is what I would say would be called the face value perspective. This is when you approach your intentional about finding out the facts or understanding what's happening at face value about something. You're just looking at the headlines.

It's like, this is what happened. Some of you are obsessed with the facts and finding out all the details. It's why you end up sucked into gossip columns about the church is because you're trying to find the facts, the things, right? Don't get mad at me, Mike Winger, Julie Royce, that's what I'm talking about, I'm just gonna lean into it. When you're reading, you're going through it, you're trying to find all of the details. What are you doing? You're living at a one dimensional place. You're trying to consume facts about something. And you aren't designed to live there, okay? You're not designed to live from that place. Two dimensional perspectives, when you live from a two dimensional perspective, this is when you focus more on intention and motive, right? These are the people that are like, like I know the facts, but I know there's something else going on here. Like there's something more. Like y'all are probably, if this is you, if you find yourself stuck in this place a lot, you probably liked two and nine in 2020. Don't get mad at me, I'm talking to you. You know I'm talking about Q and nine, or you've been following Candace Owens and her journey. It's the people that you know there's more happening. And with a pure heart,

you're trying to find what's really going on here. That is two dimensional perspective, right? You know the facts and you think there's more going on. But there's a better option. There's three dimensional living. And that's when you are living from heaven's perspective, right? Listen to me. This is when you know the facts. This is when you're aware that there's more going on, but it's when you're most consumed, most obsessed with heaven's perspective. With what is God doing? What is God saying? What's on his heart about this? What's on his mind about this? That is three dimensional living. It's heaven's perspective. That's where we were designed to live. Ephesians two versus four through seven. We learn through this passage that you're called to be seated in heavenly places. That's the only place that you have a seat reserved for you. There's no seat reserved for you in the first dimension and the second dimensional living. There's no seat, there's no space for you 'cause you're not supposed to be there. You're not supposed to be locked up there. You're not supposed to be stuck there. You have to go higher. You have to go deeper.

You have to look at it from a greater perspective than it's what's God saying and what is God doing. Amen? And so one time Connor and I got into an argument. [BLANK_AUDIO] Connor and I got into an argument and I was just mad. I was just like mad, mad, you know what I'm saying? You know, when you have like a one degree argument and you kind of mad, but then you have like a second degree argument, you mad, mad. It was like a mad, mad, mad moment. And I said, man, I need to go spend some time with one of my spiritual mamas. And so I called her up. We went out to lunch and I forgot to say this. Right before I called her up, I was spending the time with the Lord and I heard the Lord say, I was telling on Connor to God, because that's what you do. Right? Like, Lord, he did this. Talk to him, do something, Lord. You know, like, I'm telling on Connor to God. And the Lord said to me, daughter, you're sitting in the wrong seat. I was like, you're supposed to talk to him. Like, talking to me, like, that's like to him. Talk to your son, you know? And so I knew exactly what God was talking about when he said it. That I was living in a one-dimensional perspective

with my husband. I was so focused on the facts. I was so focused on, is he right or am I right? Who's gonna win this argument? He knows, I already told him that that was wrong and he did it anyway. Like, he's definitely wrong, right? Like, I'm living one dimensionally. How many of y'all been there before in marriage? And I'm talking about, so I'm living there. God says you're in the wrong seat. So I go and I spend time with the spiritual momma in my life. And I sit down and I say, okay, I gotta talk. I'm in the wrong seat. I just got an argument with my husband. And the Lord told me I'm in the wrong seat. I really need you to help me get in the right seat. He said, just help me. Younger women, did you know that the Bible says in Titus 2 that that's what you're supposed to do? They're supposed to go to older women and let them teach you how to love your husband as well? Because they've been there before, because they have the history, they've fought the same battles as you. And they have the wisdom that God has for you to lead and to walk through that moment. You know what I'm talking about? Okay, I must not be doing that. Let me tell you, go to older women, young women.

Pull on the older women and when you have moments and you say, can you help me with this? I need perspective. So that's what I'm doing with one of my spiritual mamas in this moment. And we laugh together, we cry together. We're talking through all the things. And she said, Jasmine, you need to be aware that there's a lot happening in the spirit right now. There's actually a war going on against families in the spirit right now. She said, you need to be aware of that. What does she do? She helped me to get higher to a 3D perspective so I can see what God was doing. I can see what was actually happening in the spirit. Some of you, you live your life in your marriage at a 1D place and it is killing your marriage. Women of God, you have to come and look from heaven's perspective about your husband, about your marriage. I feel warfare right now, even as I'm saying it. Let me just lean in a little bit more. You can't afford to look at your husband through the eyes of your situation. You can't afford to look at your husband by his flesh. You can't afford to live with him and regard him by his flesh. You have to know him by the spirit. You have to stand and sit down in your seat

at a heavenly place and say, God, help me to see what the greater thing is that's happening. Because when I saw it, when she gave me the perspective, it allowed me to know, oh, I'm supposed to be interceding. I left my post at intercession. I've been so mad that I stopped praying for my husband. I left my post. But if I didn't see it from the third perspective, I would have missed my assignment. Y'all hearing me? It's so important. And so let me help you. Here's how you know that you're living at a one-dimensional place in your marriage. It's how you know, or in any situation. That's how you know, this is a sure sign. When you're ready to slap somebody. (congregation laughing) Look at your right hand. Just look at it. Just look at it for a second. When that hand starts tingling. And you know it ain't the Holy Ghost. You are living one dimensionally. And you need to come up real quick to a three-dimensional perspective. Y'all hearing what I'm saying? Let the slap be your sign. Y'all playing with me? Y'all been there before you're ready to just slap somebody?

(congregation laughing) Don't slap 'em. Just pray for 'em, okay? Pray. So we have to live from a three-dimensional perspective in our walks with God. We have to be seated in the right place. I think it's interesting that the voice of familiarity sounds nothing like the voice of the fear of the Lord. They both have a voice, but they sound different. The fear of the Lord says God has something to say about all of that. In fact, I desperately need to know what he's saying before I put my mouth on that. I wasn't gonna talk about this, but let me say it real quick. There is reformation happening in the body of Christ right now. God is exposing, God is revealing, God is making crooked places straight and it is necessary and it has to happen. But if you look from a 3D perspective, that's happening, there's also another thing happening. There are people being accused in the body of Christ that are actually the assignment of it is to cause people to despise the things of the Spirit. If you notice, there is a commonality of people being accused right now that are prophets, prophetic voices, people in the charismatic church. Hear me, I know God is reforming the church, it's necessary. But some of what's happening is not from God. Some of what's happening is to get people to despise the things of the Spirit. So here's what I'm going to say. If you want to get consumed with reading all the stories, you want to get consumed with following all the things that are going on and Mike Winger and Julie Royce and all that

stuff, let me help you. You better know beyond a shadow of a doubt if it's actual reformation or if it's a part of the enemy's plan. You better know that you know because you'll end up partnering with Satan in an hour where God is drawing people to himself. You better know that you know. So why do these two things sound so different, familiarity and the fear of the Lord? Because they are, they couldn't be more diametrically opposed. Familiarity is when repeated exposure causes a loss of wonder and reverence. The fear of the Lord is a sustained sense of all and reverence for God. Familiarity produces a loss of all and reverence. The fear of the Lord is a sustained on reverence for the Lord. But we know that familiarity is an enemy of the fear of the Lord. You can't walk in both at the same time. Familiarity sounds like pride. It says, "I got it. I know what I'm doing." The fear of the Lord sounds like humility. It says, "I can do nothing without God." Familiarity sounds like apathy. It says, "Oh, just another worship service. I hope they sing my favorite song. I wonder who's leading the day." The fear of the Lord says, "Sounds like eager anticipation." It says, "God could transform my life at any moment. I need to make sure that I'm fully focused on him so I do not miss what he is doing." It's a different perspective. Familiarity sounds like stagnancy. It says, "I already know that verse." She's talking about that King's thing.

Yeah, I read that up and down. I already know that script, that's a good one. That's what familiarity sounds like. The fear of the Lord sounds like hunger. It says, "You said this word is alive, God, and I need fresh bread." Even though I've read this story a thousand times, I'm believing that you're going to come through with the spirit of revelation and you're going to set me free from familiarity in this moment right now. Familiarity sounds like compromise. It says, "It's not a big deal. We didn't have sex." Yeah, I'm going here. This culture where we've decided in church that we can do anything and everything we want, just get up as close as you can to that line, just don't have sex and it's okay. That is familiarity. You do not have the fear of the Lord if you are thinking like that. Because the fear of the Lord sounds like pursuit of holiness. It looks like, "Lord, if it grieves you, I want nothing to do with it. If it's going to hurt you, I want nothing to do with it. If it's going to break your heart, I don't want to touch it. I don't want to come close to it if it's going to hurt you." You can live in familiarity and walk in of your life and cause you to choose some other king to pledge your allegiance to. It's why I can't pledge allegiance to my blackness. It's why I can't pledge allegiance to President Trump. It's why I can't pledge allegiance to the Republican Party. It's why I can't pledge allegiance to the Democratic Party. It's why I can't pledge allegiance to you. I can't pledge allegiance to social media influence. I can't afford to live outside of the fear of the Lord.

I will only have one king. [APPLAUSE] It says, you can stay standing, it says, "The one that I fear the most is the one that loves me the most," is saying, "I'm gently held by the hand that I know could crush me." Father, we need the fear of the Lord. We need the fear of the Lord. You can be seated. When we go back to the main text, "Bane, you guys can come up." When we look at this text, you guys know the story, "Israel demanded a king," Samuel tried to keep them from it, and God said, "No, give them what they want." And there's this moment, Samuel knows that they have been familiar with him. He knows that they have forgotten everything that he'd done for them. And so he goes down this list of all these battles that God had won for them, and he just starts reminding them. And then at the end of his reminders, he says this interesting line. He says, "Is it not wheat harvest today?" And it's important that you understand what this phrase means, and you're not going to understand this phrase unless you understand what rain meant to Israel during that time. In ancient Israel, rain wasn't an aesthetic the way that it is for us. In America, we like when it rains because we like the way it makes us feel. We like to go to a coffee shop and pull out a book and get all cozy, and we turn on the fake rain on YouTube because we want the aesthetic of rain on our YouTube page at home. We like the feeling of rain. We like the idea of rain, especially as women. But in Israel, it was not an aesthetic for them. It was survival for them. They didn't have a grocery store they could just roll up to and get a couple bottles of water. They didn't have irrigation systems there. Rain meant everything for them. If it rained, they lived.

And if it didn't rain, they died. If it didn't rain, the economy failed. If it didn't rain, they had nothing to sell. They had nothing to buy. If it didn't rain, they couldn't survive. In America, we don't understand the concept of that because we don't really think of rain like that. But that's what it meant in Israel. In fact, there was these five cycles of rain that they all knew about, of how things worked in Israel. There was the dry season in May to September. This is when it was hot and everything was dry. The grounds were dry. Everything was alive and then around October to November, you would see something called the early rain, which you'd know as the former rain. You probably heard that in Scripture before, the former rain. That was when the first significant rains would come after a long dry summer. Oh, I filled the Holy Ghost. After the grounds had become hard, like concrete, the early rain was soft and soil, so plowing and sowing could happen. And after that, you had the winter rain. This was a season of long, consistent, just kind of low rain, right? Just the little rain just drizzles and just little rain all throughout this time. And then there's the latter rain in March and April. The latter rain was your final rains before grain harvest. This rain was especially important because it helped bring crops to full maturity. This is the rain of completion, the rain of maturity, the rain of fruitfulness. And after that rain, you have something called harvest dryness or according to what Samuel called wheat season. What's interesting when Samuel says, is it not wheat harvest today?

He's referring to that last season. And what he's essentially saying is, you've grown familiar with rain because what happened is, from October all the way through April, they had non-stop rain. And so usually by that time, they would get familiar with the rain. And it literally says, it teaches you when you look at the context and all the history, that by the harvest season, that they would want the rain to stop and we've had enough rain. And if it didn't rain, which it didn't rain during the wheat harvest, but if it didn't rain, then they could collect all the crops. They could collect the wheat, they could get to work, they could get the things together that would help them buy themselves. They could continue with normal life, the normal rhythms of life. But what happens here is really odd. Samuel says, is it wheat harvest today? He's asking them, I know you know the season that we're in. And I know the season that we're in. This is what Samuel says. And then it says, at this moment, when it's not supposed to be raining at all, Samuel asked God to make it rain so that they would know that the wickedness was great for the decision that they had made for another king. He says, God, to prove to them that they made the wrong decision, would you make it rain right now in the middle of the dry season,

in the middle of the wheat harvest? And what's crazy is at this moment, they were feeling justified about their decision. It says that Saul had just won his first battle as king. And they came back to Samuel and they're like, see, we needed a king, we made the right decision. He helped us win. They're justified in their decision. It's kind of like how when we live in familiarity, we justify the familiarity by saying, man, like things are still going great for me. When I lead worship, people still encounter God. When I pray, things still happen. Sometimes I still got a job. My husband and I are still together. Our family's doing fine. Everything's fine. My familiarity must not be a big deal. Everything's fine. That's what they were saying. They were justifying their familiarity with the king. And I can just imagine at this moment, while they're justifying their decision. While they're saying, everything's fine. It's okay, we don't need to be on fire for God. We don't need to have the fear of the Lord. Everything's fine. We don't have to be that intense. We don't have to cry out. We don't have to think about everything

that he's thinking all the time. Just at that exact moment, the air shifts. The wind probably comes in. All of a sudden, the leaves start to turn on the trees. And probably far off, the people of Israel can hear the thunder start to roll in. And just as Samuel had asked the Lord to make it thunder and rain, all of a sudden drop by drop, it starts to rain. And they realize in a moment, probably similar to those people that I saw that were seeing Jesus come through the clouds, that sheer tear that was on their face. I imagine that Israel was having a similar moment when they realized the God that we thought, we had grown familiar with the God that we thought, we didn't need anymore. The God that we thought our systems are fine. Everything's working as it needs to work. We don't really need him. We need somebody else. That same God says to them, no, no, no, no. You forgot I'm the one that makes it rain. And in a season that it was supposed to be dry, it begins to rain. It was a miracle. And for many of us, we forget how much we need God. Some of you don't need more comfort for God. You need more rain that wakes you up.

Some of you are asking God to stop the storm in your life, but it's the very thing breaking the familiarity off of you. The victories didn't cause the familiarity to fall off of Israel. It was the rain. Some of you want victory so bad, but all you really need is the rain of God. Only the rain of God can break familiarity off of your life. Would you stand on your feet with me right now? Would you just begin to sing in the spirit with me? Come on, we're not prophesying. We're edifying ourselves in the spirit. Come on, just begin to sing in your heavenly language. Every voice in the room. If you don't have a heavenly language right now, just begin to sing about how awesome he is, how beautiful he is, how mighty he is, how majestic he is. And I came to tell you, no matter what season it is, no matter the dry season that you feel like you're in, no matter if you feel like you're already in a season of rain, the word of the Lord over you this morning, the word of the Lord over you this weekend, is that it's a season of rain and Zechariah 10-1. Some of you have chosen control as your king and as a result Jezebel has been ruling your life. I see the Lord breaking her whip right now. That we desperately need your rain. I pray for encounters just like what you gave me, where you showed me the terror, the sheer terror in the face of the people that got familiar with you. You're the reason we have stars. You're the one that threw them into the sky. You are the God. Although you're the God of wonders, you're the king of kings. You are the Lord of the Lord. Before this morning session, I saw a rain coming in the sanctuary. And I saw it flooding this place. That you began to dance and stomp, and puddles everywhere. It became ankle deep, to knee deep, to waist deep, to in over your head as Ezekiel 47 describes. In a scripture, one is describing that. It's describing a river of living water that comes from the throne room. In Revelation, it talks about this river that goes over your head. As in having leaves of these trees that produce fruit in every season. And it's leaves provide healing for the nations. conference that you will experience his great outpouring that you will see Jesus and you will experience being in over your head with what he is pouring out. You just say to Lord for what you get to be a part of, to fear the Lord once, Lord we thank you, we thank you, we thank you for your presence, we thank you for your deliverance, God we thank you that we get to see you King. I have a few closing announcements as we transition into our lunch break and I felt what no better way of going out as delivered once, experiencing God's reign. I want to invite you to go out to the justice residence property all throughout every break this conference.
