Good morning, guys. My TDC number was 1490218. I got four numbers after that. I went round and round and round in the system like many of us do. Most of you, this is not the first time you've been locked up. It's just so easy to just get sucked back in that cycle. I know. I know, and I know the frustration, but I'm telling you, I want to encourage you today that anything is possible with God. When you give him your yes, man, he can take that, and you can have a life that you wouldn't even fathom or imagine you could possibly have, and have purpose on your life. Have purpose. August 11th of 2021, man, I laid down all the drugs. I walked out of that hotel room. I gave my life to the Lord, and if you would have asked me on that day, if you would have given me a blank slate and said, hey man, write the perfect life, man, I would have shortchanged myself. I mean, I would have just asked for a bunch of money and a business, a house. Man, I would have no purpose on my life. I would have no calling on my life. I want to tell you that there's nothing better than being used by God. There's not a drug out there. There's not a shot of dope that can touch being used by God. There's not a pile of money that can buy a material thing that can touch being used by God, and this is my heart and my hope for you, man, for everyone that's incarcerated, is man, it is not over. It is not too late. God wants to use you right where you're at. God wants to take those of you with little numbers. He wants to use you. He wants to form you. He wants to shape you. He wants to mold you into an instrument, and then when you hit the streets, He wants to send you out because, guys, we need you. We need people that struggled with drugs. We need people that struggled with violence. We need people that struggled with all of these things, man, to overcome that and come back out. The world needs you, guys. The world needs you, and those of you with big numbers, He wants to

use you right where you're at. He wants to use you to pour into the guys with the little numbers. Yeah, you might not ever see the gate, but you will send out Timothy after Timothy after Timothy after Timothy, and that will be your legacy. God wants to use you, and it's still the same feeling. It's still the same awesomeness. I just want to encourage you. I don't care if you're in the county jail trying to figure out how much time you're going to get or if you are sitting down on the maximum security unit on ad seg with a 50-year sentence. It does not matter. God wants to use you right where you're at. I just implore you to get all in with Him. I implore you to take this time and get all in with Him. Just real quick, I was reading Proverbs 22 today because it's the 22nd day of the month. It's a good practice to read a proverb a day. There's 31 of them, so it fits with every day of the month. There's just something that stood out to me in verse 2. It's simple. It's a simple verse. It says, the rich and the poor have this in common. The Lord made them both. Listen, man, the good and the bad, God made them both. The up and the down, God made them both. The shiny and the dull, God made them both. God's got everything in the palm of His hand. I know we sometimes think that we have some control over some things, or we sometimes think that we can affect the outcomes of some things if we just maneuver and manipulate and do it whatever way that we've been doing it or maybe even try a new way. But God, the message I want to give you today is God is in control of everything. He made everything. He's directing everything. I know you might ask, how could God be in control of that? What kind of God would do that? Listen, man, his ways are higher than our ways. I don't understand why bad things happen to good people on planet Earth, but one day we're gonna know. One day we're gonna be like, oh, because his ways are higher than our ways, his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He's in control of everything. Man, just relax in that, rest in that. Jesus said, take my yoke upon you. My yoke is easy, my burden is light.

This will help you do that, knowing that God's got everything. And so I just wanna tell you guys, man, that we love you at Life Fellowship Church. I personally want nothing more than for you to get set on fire by God, get out and just make much of his name, enlarge his kingdom, save people, become an evangelist, become a pastor, become a preacher, become a businessman maybe, that God can use to enlarge his kingdom, man, whatever it is. Man, if you get all in with him, all of you, not just 90% of you, but all of you, man, you don't have to worry about any of the stuff that you guys are worrying about. You don't have to worry about where am I gonna get a job, where am I gonna live, what am I gonna do? He's got that, man, and it's gonna be even better if you could write on a blank canvas your life, you would have shortchanged yourself. That's my experience, I love you guys. Father, I just lift up all the men and women that are listening, I thank you. I thank you that you're drawing them to yourself. God, your word says that no one comes to the Father unless he is drawn, and God, I thank you that if they're watching this video today, man, you're after them, you're drawing them. You have left 99 to go and find them,

and God, I praise your name for that. I thank you for that. I pray that just revelation would happen. I pray that just a revelation and the knowledge of Christ would happen to all of those who are watching this video and seeking you in prayer right now. God, I pray that they would seek you even more in prayer. God, I pray that you would just give us all, man, a bigger measure of faith, a bigger measure of belief, a bigger measure of prayer. God, a bigger hunger for your word. God, I pray that you would bless their families while they're gone, and that the seeds that are planted from the message they're about to watch would land on fertile soil, and that you would make the increase. Me too, let's get ready for the message Hello Life Fellowship Church Good to see you guys this morning Man, what a blessing it is to be here today This is a full circle moment for me I want to welcome all of our Church Online family That's joining us from all over the place And all of the men and women And all of our Department of Corrections From all over America Guys, you know you're my heart You know you're part of this church family Can we just give it up for them, guys? Can we give it up for them? Over 2 million tablets on the Pando app All across America And soon to be in Philippines Man, gosh, thank you guys for tuning in And I just want to say, man, welcome to everyone Thank you guys for coming this morning Thank you for showing up For walking through the doors, man In the midst of uncertainty This means more to me than I know, man Because I just love, I love this church I love the atmosphere that we have here That all of you, that the Holy Spirit Uses all of you to create here This atmosphere, that the Holy Spirit, man, just He just cultivates it here

Through our staff, through our church our leaders, through our volunteers, through the worship team, through our production, Kelvin and Jared and all those guys back there, through our creative team, Marcella and Julia, guys, we have some good godly women and men here at Life Fellowship Church, and I love this church. I don't care what anyone says, man, I'm fighting for this church. I'm fighting for this church. And on that note, man, on Saturday mornings, I went for the first time yesterday. There is a prayer meeting out here with some amazing men and women just calling on the face of God for our church. I just wanna invite you on Saturday mornings at 7.30, it is powerful, it is powerful. Again, what a blessing for me to be here today, and the reason this is a full circle moment for me is because in 2017, I was in the Collin County Jail on my way back to prison for the fourth time, and someone invited me to church, and when I got there, it was Pastor John Melander, and he brought this message, he brought this experience into the jail there. And for six months, every week, I watched this platform, and I just fell in love with Jesus, and I fell in love with Life Fellowship Church, and I said to myself, man, I don't know when I'm getting out but when I do, I'm gonna go find

that Life Fellowship place, and man, I'm so glad that I did. I got out towards the end of 2020, it was, I did good for a while, and then fell back into sin, fell back into drugs and crime and sexual sin, and it was just like six months of darkness that just kept getting darker, just kept getting darker. I'd given up, man, I had given up on God, I didn't think that I had what it takes to, this was just my lot in life, but man, God didn't give up on me, and he kept coming, he kept giving me these downloads, man, in August of 2021, I had crazy people around me, had all these drugs around me, in this hotel room in Irving, Texas, man, he began to give me downloads, and he began to just say to me, hey man, like, if you wanna stop, just get up and leave this room, and I've got you. But he was like, but don't do it if you don't want to, that's how I knew it was him. He wasn't forcing himself, but he's like, but if you want to, like, I have something for you, I have a plan for you, and I'm with you, but I just need you to get up and leave this room, man, and on August 11th of 2021, man, I got up, I left that room, man, and my life has taken off like a rocket ship ever since then, amen. So we are closing out a series called Unshakable, and man, to be unshakable,

we're gonna have to do some unshakable things. We're gonna have to do some hard things, like it wasn't just as easy as me walking out of that hotel room, and then poof, life was amazing. I had to do a lot of hard things. I had to stop getting high. I had to lay down sexual sin. I had to deny myself. I had to start serving. I had to start tithing. I had to start doing a whole lot of things that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. At the time, in my mind, I'm just trying to stop using drugs, but you see, God kept giving me downloads. God kept speaking to me. He kept asking me to get all in, and I think he's asking us that. If we want to be an unshakable church, we're gonna have to do hard things. We're gonna have to pick up our cross daily and follow him, and so thinking about this word unshakable, and as I was just kind of praying into this message and this word, man, he kept bringing me this word balance, like we have to have this balance because we as people, we can get so easily bent towards extremes, right, especially in the church,

and I use this analogy of like a pendulum, a pendulum swinging, and for all you younger people out there that don't know what a pendulum is, there was a time, believe it or not, that you couldn't just look at your phones and see what time it was, and so maybe it's your great-great-great-grandfather's house. You know that clock that was over there in the corner that had the thing hanging? That's a pendulum, and that's the analogy that God kind of gave me, this pendulum, this spiritual pendulum that is swinging, and what I've found in my own faith journey is sadly, oftentimes, we find ourselves as a church, either here or over here in the pendulum swing. Doesn't seem to matter what we're talking about. We just have this tendency to gravitate towards these extremes, like for example, one example is when I was growing up, man, when I was just a little, little boy, my grandmother used to take me to the country, like Fundamental Baptist Church, right, and man, they were like staunch, hardcore religious, like cross every T, dot every I, like King James Version only, right, like we're just hoping to get to heaven and not go to hell, like we're almost living more fearful of God than we are loving Him, right? So that's one side of the pendulum swing,

and then the other side is what, today, that we see in the Western world today, what I'd call just the whoring out of the grace. of Jesus. Like he died on the cross for my sins. And because he died on the cross for my sins, I can just do whatever I want to do. I can just live however I want to live. I can just say whatever I want to say. Doesn't matter that the Bible calls it wicked. Doesn't matter that it grieves the heart of God. It doesn't matter. I'm just going to cheapen the grace of Jesus. Like we're just going to take Romans six and mark it all the way out the Bible. And so that's the other side of this pendulum swing. And what we're seeing, and especially in the church, is this tendency, right? Especially when something happens, when life gets lifey, when there's things out of control, there's things we don't like and there's uncertainty and we have feelings we tend to pick aside. And it's like my way or the highway. We're either here or we're here. And so whether we're talking about that or we're talking about theology, that's another pendulum swing. Like you're going to believe what I believe or off with your head, right? That's a pendulum swing. Denominational faith. Lord knows there's a pendulum swing in denominations. Like I'm over here and I'm this denomination. If you don't believe the way I believe, then y'all are all going to hell, man. Those, these are pendulum swings, man. Dangerous man. What I contend the enemy uses to divide the bride of Christ. And what I'm learning in my own faith journey as I'm growing in my faith, is I'm finding my momentum, my spiritual momentum, not at these extremes, but in the middle of this pendulum swing and this pendulum swing. And I did some study on, on pendulums this week. I studied some physics this week, y'all. And did you know that the most kinetic energy in a pendulum isn't here and it isn't here, but it's right here when it hits the bottom right here, this is where it has the most momentum moving forward. And I don't know about you, but that's where I want to be. I don't want to be here and I don't want to be here. And as I get older, I've noticed this tendency to just drift one side of like it's my way or the highway. Like it's easy to sway over here, man. But if there's a prayer all the days of my life, it's like, God, would you keep me in the middle of this and this, whatever this might be. Would you have me, God, this kinetic energy in my spiritual journey, always moving forward, the spiritual momentum. Because when we, when we're here or when we're

here, we can get stuck. I remember in 2007, man, I went to prison for the first time and I landed on this, this like trustee camp. It was like open. We had a little bit more freedom and we used to eat dinner and come out and have this giant basketball court with a, with a roof over the top of it. And we would just run full court basketball, uh, all until, until all night. Right. And I know it may be hard for you to imagine pastor Logan running full court basketball all night, but this was 20 years ago. Okay. And so we would come out and we'd be ready to go. But there was always this, this remnant of men, 30, 40 of them. It's standing in a circle on the basketball court and they'd be praying and it would be, you know, we'd be ready to get out there. You know, like we, it'd be, you know, where one guy would pray, another guy would pray, like it would go on and on. And man, honestly, we were not nice to those guys. We were, cause we're ready to get out there. We're like, Hey man, we called them the disciples. We're like, get off the court. Disciples prayer times over. Like we were not nice to them. Like looking back, I can, I can appreciate how they would take the time, uh, and pray and do that. But man, we were, we were not nice to them. But also looking back, also looking back, what was a little bit alarming was as you get to know some of these men, cause I would work alongside some of them, uh, is, is that man, they were not nice people. They were miserable people to be around. They were, they were bitter. They were judgmental. Like, and looking back, like, I don't remember one time ever having a Jesus conversation with one of these men. And these are Christians, right? And I'm living with them. Now we would have debates and I would have judgmental things thrown at me, but never once did I hear anything about a Luke 15 father that ran to me right where I was at. I never heard about a grace that was big enough for it to reach anyone and everyone. And honestly, man, it was gloom and doom. Most of the time they were angry. They were bitter. They were judgmental. It's like people in the dark almost had more light than these guys, right? I never got invited to a Bible study. I never got invited to church, not once. And listen, this ain't no shot at them. I just realizing now that this is that pendulum that swung so far to one side that it got stuck. And we see it all the time. We have this moment where we behold the glory and the majesty of God. Like we see him for who he finally is. And it's like, oh my God, he saved me from the pits of hell. He gave me a seat at the table. Like, oh my gosh, we're blown away. We have this encounter with Jesus and we call upon his name. And the Bible says that when we do that, that we're saved

and that when we're saved, we get empowered by the Holy spirit. And then we get plugged into a good Bible, believe in church. And then our next step is usually we get plugged. into some life groups or some community groups, whatever. We get some good godly friends around us and we go to the coffee shops and we do our little Bible studies where we take pictures of our Bible and our notes and our coffee that's all perfectly placed and we post it on Instagram. And listen, all those things are good. I'm not saying any of those things aren't good. Those are great, okay? But listen, if there's a win in today's message, talking about being an unshakable church, if there's a win in today's message, we gotta see that it can't stop right here. We can't allow this pendulum to get stuck right here where we're just going to our life groups, doing Beth Moore Bible studies, drinking coffee and posting pictures, okay? Why? Because there's work to do down in the valley. And if we wanna be an unshakable church, guys, we've gotta be about the Father's business. We cannot let all the things of the world, all this stuff that's around us. They're making faces at me, guys. All this stuff that's around us, keep us from doing what God has called us to do, man. God has called us to be light.

He's called us to be salt in a tasteless world. Matthew 5 says that. And when I say us, all of us, as believers, as one body, all of us, He didn't call us to stay at the coffee shops and post pictures, okay? Murmuring about all these things we don't like. No, He's called us to do hard things. He's called us to do things that are uncomfortable. He's calls us to days where you just wanna wave a surrender flag. He's called our staff and our leadership to that in these past few months. He's called us to things where you're like, God, there's no way I can do that. Like I did not sign up for that, God. He calls us to these places. And so again, if there's a win in today's message that we could find this kinetic energy, that we could find that balance between, yes, being over here and filling up our cups and never losing our first love and operating on an overflow of our love for Jesus, never stop being blown away by His grace and mercy, but taking this excitement and taking this joy and taking this empowerment of the Holy Spirit that is in us and taking it into the dark where God has called us to be. Taking it into the valley where God has called us to, that we can find that balance as a people of God.

And this takes us to Matthew chapter 17. And in Matthew chapter 17, we are six months away from the cross of Christ. We know this from the timeline of the scriptures. And by Matthew chapter 17, there's already an uproar, right, by two different groups of people. We got the Roman government that's a little bit uneasy about this Jesus and His disciples. They're causing a movement, right? And if you know anything about Rome history, they don't like movements because they're the mighty Rome and no one's gonna come and rise up and undermine them. And so there's some nervousness with this Jesus because he had the ability to stir up the Jews a little bit. And the Romans knew, man, if the Jews turn, man, we're gonna have some issues. So there's tensions with the Roman government, but there's also tensions with the religious because that's what Jesus does, boy. He stirs up that old religious spirit and He's stirring it up, man, because they can't figure out, they can't answer why or how this Jesus from Nazareth is able to do all the things that He's doing. And so tensions are rising, questions are being asked. And in the midst of all this tension, six months away from the cross of Christ, Jesus and a few of His friends, Peter, James, and John are gonna take a detour. And they're gonna take a detour up on a mountain.

And in your Bible under the heading, it may say Mount Transfiguration. That's where we're gonna be at. It's in all the gospels except for James. We're gonna look at Matthew's account of it today. Matthew 17, verse number one, it says this. It says, after six days, Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John, the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became white as light. Okay, so they're experiencing the light of the world. They're not just talking about it, or reading about it, or in a small group discussing it. They're actually seeing it for themselves. They're seeing the glory and the majesty of God played out through Jesus. And look at verse three, it says, and behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. So God shows them Moses, okay, who represents the law and the Mount Sinai moment and all of that stuff. And then He shows them Elijah, one of the great prophets, one of the great prophets that represents all of those who come on the scene in the Old Testament talking about this Messiah that's coming, talking about this Jesus that's coming, all through the Old Testament saying,

hey, there's a Savior coming. Like God's about to flip the script. He's gonna be pierced for our transgressions. He's gonna lay down His life. All these things, you know, by His stripes, you're gonna be healed. Remember all those prophets that came on the scene telling about this Jesus. And then God's about to say to these disciples, this is my beloved Son, listen to Him. And so what God did in that moment, he's not like having a family reunion with his friends, right, he's connecting the dots of the Old Testament and the New Testament. He's showing them and he's showing us that look, it's not about the law anymore. It's not about Moses and the law and the Mount Sinai moment that he had up there and all the prophets that told of this Jesus that was to come and heal us and do all the things they said he was gonna do. Check this out, he's the one talking to Elijah. He's the one having the conversation. Like he just connected the dots. He's going Jesus is who he says he is. He is my beloved son, listen to him. And look at the response in verse four. Man, I love this response. It says, and Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good that we are here.

It is good that we are here. And if you wish, I'll make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. And as he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them and a voice from the cloud said, this is my son with whom I'm well pleased, listen to him. And when the disciples heard this, man, they fell on their face and were terrified. Why were they terrified? Because of the holiness of God. And this is one of those pendulum swings, right? We gotta always be in awe of his holiness. We gotta quit cheapening his grace. Like he is a holy, holy, holy God. We're just dangerously making Jesus like a hippie in this world. Oh yeah, man, he's okay with everything. No, no, no, he's a holy God. He's a holy God. And we see this in this interaction. He's so holy, he don't even show up. He just speaks and they fall on their face in terror and fear. He's a holy God. But look at verse seven. But Jesus came and touched them. Get up, he said, don't be afraid. And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus only. Okay, so it's safe to say in this moment

that they just had an experience with Jesus in a way that they'll never have again. Like this moment, this experience would change the lives of Peter, James, and John. They would never be the same again. And guess what? If you're a born again believer in this room, you've had one of these experiences. And it may not have been a mountaintop moment where he shined like a light, but we've all had a moment. We've all had a moment where Jesus went from like VBS coloring page Jesus to, oh my God, he saved me from sin, death, and hell and gave me a seat at the table. Maybe for you, it wasn't a church service. Maybe you're just hearing a sermon and you're listening to a sermon and it's like everyone else in the room just ejected and the Lord was like, hey, he's talking to you. And you saw him and you heard him in a way that's never happened before and it changed your life. Maybe for you, it was like a small group or a conference or like maybe a walk to Emmaus or something where you saw your sin ever before you, but you also saw the grace and the love and the mercy of Jesus that was big enough for anything and everything that you might bring to the table. Man, that's what happened to me in that hotel room, man. I was overwhelmed.

Like I saw him and I was overwhelmed. I didn't wanna stop getting high. I didn't wanna lay down sexual sin, but man, I saw him and I knew that, I knew that, I knew that he was calling me out of that room, man. And it's like nothing else mattered. And he was downloading to me, he was downloading to me. Imagine what your life could be like if you just got all the way in one time. I wonder who he's saying that to today. Somebody in here today, God is saying, what could your life be like if you just got all the way in one time? Life Fellowship Church, what could Life Fellowship Church be like if we all got all the way in one time? What could happen if we all showed up on Saturday at 7.30, got on our face and called on heaven at the prayer meeting? What could it be like? This was the word from God that changed my life, man. Maybe it was a tragic accident that you had and you got on the other side of it and you woke up and you're like, man, I can't believe that he saved me and he just saw the glory of God. You saw like the second chance that he poured out on you and you saw it and it changed your life. Or maybe you were on a men's retreat. Maybe you're on a Andreso men's retreat and you heard Pastor John preach on Luke 15 about a father who ran to me right where I was at, who wasn't waiting on a future better version of myself,

who wasn't angry at me, who wasn't mad at me, who's gonna walk alongside me, like I still had pig crap all over me and I'm hearing this and I'm like, I've never heard of this God. I've never heard of this grace. So maybe you just saw Jesus in a new way that just you saw him in a way that just completely wrecked your life and changed you. This is what's gonna happen to Peter. We know this from the context of the scripture and he's like, man, can we just stay up here? Like I'll build us all tents. Let's just stay up here, man. Let's just have a party right here. We'll get a worship team, man. We'll get Leslie, we'll get Nachi, we'll get Ryan. We'll just see. Kumbaya, we'll have Bible studies. We'll just stay in our tents, man. Can we just stay up here? Because Lord, it's hard down there. Man, the valley sucks, man. I don't want to go down there. Down there, I'm gonna, I'm not gonna know what to say sometimes. Down there, they're gonna call me the disciples and tell me to get off the basketball court. Down there, they aren't gonna listen to me. Down there, they're gonna shun me.

Down there, it's gonna be uncomfortable. I'm gonna have to do a whole lot of things that I don't want to do. Wouldn't it just be easier if we just stayed up here, God? This is Peter. This is Peter. We're gonna see in verse nine, Jesus is like, no. No. There's work to do down in the valley. Hear me, somebody. Do you want to be unshakable? There's work to do in the valley. And what I found that while I'm in the valley, while I'm doing the thing that he's called me to do, while I'm doing that, when I'm down being inconvenienced, when I'm down walking through fear, doing what he's called me to do, he's steady over here working on all the things that I'm worried about. Health problems take care of themselves. Finances take care of themselves. Relationships get mended. While I'm over here, he's over here working on my stuff. That is my experience. Like he provides what we need if we keep close to him and perform his work well. And so we see in verse nine, it says as they were coming down the mountain, insinuating what? Jesus didn't pitch a tent for them, right?

And in verse nine, we see Peter, James, and John, locked arms, stepping right back into the chaos, stepping right back into the valley. Why? Why does God call his people into the valley? That's the question of the day, right? Why does he call us to do impossible things? Why can't we just stay at the coffee shops and do Bible studies and post pictures? Why has he called us to such a time as this? Why has he called us to do impossible things? Man, read the rest of the story. Because some parables needed to be told. Because some teachings needed to be taught. Because some healings needed to happen. A dead dude needed to come out of the grave and out of Lazarus. A betrayal needed to happen in the garden. A mock trial where they hollered out, we want Barabbas, we want Barabbas. Crucify him needed to happen. The same people who five days earlier were shouting Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest. All that needed to happen. The crown of thorns on his head needed to happen. The prophecies fulfilled needed to happen. The cat of nine tails needed to happen. Him carrying his cross to Golgotha needed to happen. The nails in his hands and in his feet needed to happen. The spear in his side needed to happen.

And you see, none of these things would have happened if they would have stayed in their tents, singing Kumbaya, doing Bible studies, having a party on the mountain. There was work to do down in the valley. And I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited that Jesus, Peter, James, and John made their way back down the valley. As a guy who brings a lot of sin to the table, I'm sure thankful they didn't stay up on that mountain. I'm thankful, I'm thankful. Because we know that Jesus in his flesh, man, he didn't want to do any of that. He knew what was coming. The word says that, man, he was sweating droplets of blood in the garden, and what was his cry to the Father? Can you take this cup from me? But nevertheless, not my will be done, but your will be done. What's he saying? He's saying, I'm gonna do this thing. I'm gonna get down in the valley. I'm gonna do this thing that you've called me to do. I don't want to, I don't want to, not on paper, I don't want to, but I'm gonna do whatever you've called me to do. I'm gonna do whatever you've called me to do. He's called us to do hard things. He calls us into the valley, and this is the other side of this dangerous pendulum swing

that can get stuck over here. I'm like, yeah, that's why I hate the church, and they're just a bunch of hypocrites, and I don't want anything to do with the church, and yeah, I'm out here getting drunk with my friends, and we're going into the bars, and we're going to the after parties, but we're being Jesus to them people, and no one in the church is in here doing that. We're gonna come back to that in just a second, but this is another dangerous pendulum swing that can get stuck over here. But as we find this balance, as we're called to be light in the darkness, we know that because Matthew 5 says that, and as we come down the mountain, filled up with an overflow of our love for the Lord, as we step into the darkness, how can we find this momentum to make sure that this is the story all the days of our lives? We come down, we step into the dark, we don't grow weary, we pour ourselves out, and we come back up, and we get filled back up. And then we come back down and we force those out. Y'all track it with me. How do we get to this place, not here and not here? Four things I wanna look at real quick. Number one, remember that you're operating on his strength and not your own.

And man, I use this point on a lot of things and you can use it for anything that you're, no matter what you're going through. Maybe you have a marriage that's busted up or an addiction has got its grip on you. Like you just fill in the blank. Like this is a huge practical if you wanna be serious about your faith. Now, if you just wanna do Sunday morning Christianity, cool, just come in here and hope whoever's preaching gets done on time. But if you wanna be ferocious for the kingdom of God, if you wanna be unshakable, you gotta remember that we're not operating on anything that you can do, but everything that Holy Ghost can do. And guys, I can speak to this. Like there is no way that today could happen on my own strength, okay? I would be back there in that green room, sucking my thumb, being done with it. Believing all the lies that the enemy tells me. But hey man, you haven't been saved long enough. You're not qualified. You're a 14 time felon. You did a bunch of drugs. You didn't go to seminary. You haven't been saved. All these things that he bombards me with. And on top of that, man, like I have this fear,

this phobia of speaking in front of people. I know it doesn't seem like it. I'm getting better at it, but I'm just gonna tell you every time before I come up here to do a transition or go to Anna or go in the prisons, man, I have this moment where it's like, God, if you, Holy Spirit, if you don't show up, like I'm gonna die. Panic attack. And so I've just gotta lean in, man. I just gotta lean in every time and just say, God, would you remind me? Would you remind me that I ain't doing anything on my strength, but I'm doing everything on your strength? And would you just remind me, God, that you put me here and you know what you're working with? Like you know what you're working with. And so guys, these are just tools that I've used that every time, man, that we have to know these truths. We gotta lean on the Holy Spirit, man, and call on him, man. And I just get to this point where I'm like, all right, man, I'm gonna get up there. I'm gonna get behind that podium. Those lights are gonna come on. I'm gonna be nervous and I'm gonna shake and I'm gonna sweat and I'm gonna scream and I'm gonna holler, but I'm gonna do it on his strength and not my own.

Guys, I preached a funeral last week for a friend of mine that I didn't wanna preach on his strength and not my own. I'm gonna go into the valley and be a light in the dark on his strength and not my own. I'm not gonna ask the coulda, shoulda, wouldas. I'm not gonna wonder what if. I'm just gonna go in and I'm gonna know that I know that I know that I'm going in on his strength and not my own. And when we can understand this, when we can understand this, not just information, but it's revelation in our heart, man, when we can understand this, we're not gonna be playing the woe is me. We're not gonna be going in there hoping anything. We're gonna go in with boldness, man. We go into those prisons with boldness, bro. We go in as a warrior for Christ. Why? Because it's his strength in me. If we believe the Bible to be true, man, we got the power of the living God dwelling within us. They called the dead out the grave. And again, when we can understand this, we're not gonna go into the dark just hoping anything. We're just gonna get to this place where you're like, all right, God, here I am. Do your thing and use me. Do your thing and use me. You wanna be unshakable?

This is the secret sauce. Do the thing that God's called you to do and do it on his strength, not your own. Number two, be prayerful. And this is one of the most overlooked truths in our faith. Okay, we pray over our McDonald's. And I'm just saying, God ain't blessing no McDonald's. Okay, like you shouldn't be eating McDonald's. It's terrible for you. But we pray over our McDonald's and then we just go on. And guys, we fail to realize sometimes prayer is so important. And it's one of the most missed truths in the church. We throw up these little shotgun prayers and then we move on. And man, if we don't learn anything else, we need to be pestering the Lord all the days of our life. So what would it look like? Check this out. What would it look like if after I have this moment with Jesus and he saves me and he calls me and I have this moment and he calls me and I turn and he launches me into the dark and as I'm going into the dark, instead of this, woe is me, oh my gosh, I hope I say the right thing or woe is me, oh my gosh, I hope they don't shun me or I hope. But flipping that through prayer into, hey God, would you open up a door for me? Would you allow me to have a Jesus conversation?

See, we're shifting it from this to asking God to open these doors for me. Like God, you know I'm about to work an eight hour shift with this brother that don't love you, who hates the idea of you. Would you have me not give him weird answers? Would you have me not shun him? Would you have me not? Be judgmental. Would you have me be an ambassador to your great name? Could I represent you well? You see, we're shifting this from this, well, I'll just try to be Jesus in the dark, to God, open these doors for me. Change his heart. Change her heart. Set some divine appointments. God, allow me to have some Jesus conversations wherever I go, man. When you're walking in the restaurant, God, man, prepare the heart of my server. Maybe we could have a Jesus conversation. Maybe we could have a prayer. Man, when you're at Walmart or the grocery store, wherever you're at, man, God, would you highlight for me the people that you're chasing after? Would you show me who you've left 99 and are chasing after? And give me the boldness and the confidence

to have, in love, these conversations. Number three, never forget your mountaintop moment. This is a big one, man. We get saved, we behold the glory of the Lord, we get in our feels, we have these moments where we can't get enough of the Lord, right? And then somewhere along the line, we get busy, right? We get distracted. We've got life, and we've got bills, and we've got kids, and we've got dogs, and all this stuff, and we lose sight of it, and we just start going through the motions. And we sing the songs, and we do the dance, and we speak Christianese, and we play Sunday morning Christianity, playing the game of church. But somewhere we lose our awe and wonder of the Lord and what he did for you. Guys, never forget your first love. I say this all the time, never forget your mountaintop moment, because I'm just gonna tell you from a place of experience, that it will drive you in the valley. Like the moments in the valley that are hard, because the valley is hard. The moments we wanna quit, the moments we get discouraged, the moment you think, man,

there ain't no way the grace of Jesus can save this brother or sister. Man, I remember my own story. I remember what God did for a wretch like me. It puts fire in me. And I say, God, man, if you can do that for me, surely you can do that for them. You see, it's fuel for your fire in the valley, and we see the same thing happen for Peter. In second Peter, we know that he is just moments away from his death and execution. Like Peter is in the lowest of valleys, all right? But look what he says in chapter one, verse 16. He says, for we are not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes when he received honor and glory from God the Father, the voice and the majestic glory of God said to him, this is my dearly loved son who brings me great joy. Guys, do you see what Peter is doing here? Peter's in the valley. Peter has chaos closing in all around him. We know from church history that Peter is gonna die upside down on a Roman cross, all right? Things are about to get horrific for the apostle Peter, and he knows that, but he's not playing the woe is me. He's not complaining about all these things around him that he has no control over. No, he's remembering Matthew 17

in that mountaintop moment. He's reminiscing, it's fuel for his fire in the valley. He's like, do I want this to happen? No, is this how I want the credits to roll on my life? No, do I wanna die upside down on this cross? No, but I know what I saw back there. I know what I saw back there on that mountain. And man, if I get that, if I get that, then you can crucify me upside down, sideways, diagonal, any way you wanna do it. If I get that, if I get to be in his presence, what I saw and what I experienced back on that mountain, do whatever you gotta do to me. See, it's fuel for his fire. And lastly, number four, I put, be a light in the valley, but be sure to go back to the mountaintop with your friends. Be sure to go back to the mountaintop with your friends. And this is where that pendulum that gets stuck, that I said we're gonna come back to, where I hear it all the time. That's why I hate the church. And guys, please don't hate the church. We are a mess and we make a mess out of things, but please don't hate the church. The church is the bride of Christ. And when you're messing with the church, you're messing with God's bride. But I hear it all the time, especially in recovering circles.

Yeah, man, I hate the church. I don't want anything to do with the church. And yeah, I'm getting drunk and I'm getting high with my friends, but at least someone's down here being Jesus to them, because no one else from the church is coming in here. And it makes me sad, honestly, where I always say, you know, you're right. The church has done a lousy job of going into the darkness. We have, it's true. We got a lot of people that just don't wanna be inconvenienced, that are just lazy, that don't wanna go in there. We get people that are, we get offended by everything. in the church, right? Everything hurts our feelings. We're all sensitive. We're scared of the darkness a lot of times. We're scared to have Jesus conversations. I get their argument because I've seen that side of it. But what I always tell this brother or sister when I hear this is yes, you're right. Jesus would go into the darkness. He would, he wouldn't be scared of that. He would go into the bars. He would go into the brothels. He would go into the crack houses. He would go into the living rooms and the bedrooms where in the dark at night

you're doing all the things you think nobody's watching. And he wouldn't condemn you. He wouldn't guilt and shame you like a bunch of good church folk would, but he wouldn't partake of those things either with you. He'd say, bro, what are you doing? This is never gonna fulfill you like only I can. It's a cup with a hole in the bottom of it. He would say, repent and sin no more. Yes, Jesus hung out with the prostitutes, tax collectors and sinners. He did, he absolutely did. That's the big argument, but he did not partake of things with them. He would call them to repentance in love. And then every single time, what did he do? Read the scriptures, two things. First, he would eject from that moment and he would go and spend time with the father. And again, a lot of us do a lousy job at that, but he did this, Jesus modeled this. He would leave and he would spend time with the father. And then every single time you'd see him eject from there and come right back to his friends. Guys, Jesus modeled this. The son of God modeled this. Guys, we need each other on the mountain if we wanna be unshakable. We need to come back to these moments with our friends, the sharpening, right?

This iron sharpening iron that the Proverbs talk about. It's so vital in our walks with Jesus, getting our cups filled back up, so that we're empowered to go back down into the valley. Guys, make sure you have this. Make sure that your closest of friends are those who stir your affections for Jesus and make you a better follower of Christ. Do whatever you gotta do. And I'm not saying that we're only hanging out with our life groups, but make sure that the people that you're most accountable to are the ones that are gonna make you a better follower of Christ, that are gonna make you a better parent, that are gonna make you a better spouse, that are gonna make you a better friend. Make sure those are the people that you're taking advice from. Those are the people you're getting wisdom from. Those are the people who are holding you accountable. Like make dang sure you got this in your walk, man. We need good godly friends that are stirring our affections for Jesus. And we need to be aware of those friends who are robbing us of those affections. And if you wanna be unshakable, this is the balance. This is the balance. So we're not over here,

we're not over here just in the coffee shops doing Bible studies, complaining about all the stuff that we have no control over, posting pictures, being a turnoff to the world because we don't wanna talk to any of them, they're the lost people, they're weird, they drink, they smell like cigarette smoke. So we're not over here. And we're not over here saying, I don't need any of that. I just get drunk with all my friends, blah, blah, blah. So we're not over here. No, the balance is, I saw the glory and the majesty of Jesus. And I called upon His name. And I saw Him in a way that maybe I've never seen Him before. Like I remember hearing about Him my whole life, like I colored pages about Him my whole life. But it's like I saw Him, I had a moment where I saw Him and He changed my life. And He showed me my place at the table. And He empowered me with the Holy Spirit. And He's overwhelming me with His love. And in that moment, I turn around and I don't just keep doing a Bible study, but I turn around and I say, okay, God, you see what's before me. What do you have for me?

Here I am, send me. And as He launches me into the dark by the power of the Holy Spirit, I come down with an overflow of my love for Him. And I come down and I come into the dark and I do the thing that He's called me to do. And as the days turn into weeks, that turn into months, that turn into I'm exhausted because we're humans and we often forget all of these things and I'm empty and I'm pouring from an empty cup. I don't just keep pouring from an empty cup. I don't just keep giving all the right answers. I hit the pause button and I come back up the mountain and I come back to good godly friends that I can sit around with on Friday mornings at Collective Coffee and on Wednesday mornings at Legacy Bagels. And we're not doing Beth Moore Bible studies, are we, Eddie? But we're just opening God's word. And we're just saying, God, would you speak to us? Would you show us how to be better followers of you? Would you show us how to be better husbands and better dads? And while we're sitting around that table, man, we're stirring our affections for the Lord for one another. We're speaking life over one another. We're praying. for one another. We're saying, hey man, this is why I see God's moving in your story. And then we get fired back up.

We get our cups filled back up. Y'all see what I'm saying? We get fired back up. We get empowered by that old Holy Spirit. Man, and you got new fire in you. You realize you ain't doing any of this. It's gonna be all his power. And you go right back into the dark. And you go right back into the dark. And you do the thing that God has called you to do. And when you get tired and when you get weary, you come back up and you get filled back up and you come back down. And if God gives me tomorrow, if God gives me tomorrow, wash, rinse, repeat. And if God gives me Tuesday, wash, rinse, repeat. And if God gives me Wednesday, wash, rinse, repeat. Like this has got to be our stories. I'm not here and I'm not here. It's this kinetic energy. This moving into the dark with an overflow of a love in me to talk about this light that is in me empowered by the Holy Spirit. I'm telling you, that's the flow, man. And never more than now, does this need to be the story of our church, man. Never more than, I feel like God is lighting a fire under Life Fellowship Church right now. Like, do you want to be unshakable? Make this your story.

We're tired of the Bible studies. The world's tired of watching all the Bible studies at the coffee shops. Listen to me, it's time to come down the mountain. It's time to come down the mountain. It's time we put our money where our mouth is. You say that you're empowered by the Holy Spirit, go show that. Go into the dark and be the person that God's called you to be. Go in the valley and do impossible things, because remember, you ain't doing nothing, but He is. So I don't know where you are today, man. Maybe you're lost. Maybe you're in the valley, you've never called on the name of Jesus. Man, can today be the day that you would have that moment, that you would behold the glory of Jesus in a way you've never seen Him before? Not coloring book Jesus, not get you in your feels Jesus, but He saved me from sin, death, and hell, and gave me a place at the table for all who call upon His name. If you've never called upon His name, we're gonna have a prayer team down here that wants to have a conversation with you about that. And we wanna invite you, man, to get out of your chair and come down and make this your mountaintop moment. And for everyone else in this room, for the saints in this room,

can our prayer be a simple prayer? God, how can I, as a son and daughter of you, empowered by that sweet Holy Spirit, how can I go down into the valley and make much of your name? What are you calling me to? What seems impossible, would you show me is possible? Would you open up doors? Would you open up Jesus' conversations? Would you give me an opportunity to represent you well? Guys, never more than now does this need to be the story of the church, man. Never more than now. And so you might say, well, Logan, I don't know what to do. I don't know what he's calling me to. Let me just tell you, man, we have a lot going on here. There is a giant community outreach event happening next Saturday, right here. We're giving out 500 backpacks, 500 bags of food. There's gonna be Hutchins Barbecue and doctors and eye people and haircut people and dentists, all for under-resourced kids and families, man. There's gonna be 500 families that show up here that maybe no one has ever prayed for. Man, we need you to get down in the valley with us and speak life over some of these people. We've got youth and next gen that need life spoken into them. If kids is your thing, we've got young adults,

the next generation of our church, man, that need life spoken into them. We've got a men's ministry, a women's ministry, prison ministry, homeless ministry, jail ministry. We go to the memory care facility. We just started going to a detox center where you can proclaim the name of Jesus and shout Jesus in a place where people are detoxing and coming off of drugs. This is unheard of in that area. God is opening some amazing doors. We've got the Ruth House transitional home where the ladies are coming out of jail and prison. It's right here in McKinney. And they need good godly women to come around them and show them how to be better followers of Jesus, to give them a ride to church or to overcomers or to the women's ministry. Like there's lots, man. And I know it seems like a lot and it seems hard, but you just have to remember, man, we're not doing anything, but he is. Let's pray. Father, we love you. Just God, I love you so much, God. So thankful, Lord. I'm so thankful that you would save a wretch like me. I'm so thankful that I heard your call. God, that's my prayer today is that that would be someone's story in this room,

that they would hear your call, that they would see you in a way that they've never seen you before and that they would call upon your name. God, for everyone else, I just pray for everyone in this room, God. I just pray for. Everyone in this room, I pray blessings over everyone in this room, that the lost would be saved, that the saved would be sanctified. And as we are being sanctified, one degree of glory to the next. God, would you show us how we can go down into the valley and make much of your name? Would you show us how we can enlarge your kingdom? God, I pray for Life Fellowship Church.
