Kingdom Giving By: Dr: Pete Norris
But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you —see that you also excel in this grace of giving. (2 Corinthians 8:7 NIV)
Paul was talking about the Grace of Giving. In this chapter which deals with giving, the word grace occurs seven times. Unless we understand grace and how grace motivates giving, we really cannot understand God's plan for our money as revealed in the New Testament. The Bible speaks of both law and grace. Law is external, written on stone tablets in front of our eyes. Grace is internal. It works from within, not from without. No one can write the grace of God in our hearts but the Holy Spirit.
For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (John 1:17 NKJV)
What Jesus did on the cross made provision for our prosperity.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. (II Corinthians 8:9 NKJV)
Grace is manifested here in an exchange. Jesus was rich, but He became poor of His grace in order that we, through His grace, being poor, might become rich with His riches.
The New Testament reveals that grace is received only through faith. There is nothing that we can ever do that will deserve the grace of God.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8, 9 NKJV)
Notice the order: "by grace....through faith...not by works." Teaching about something that you can only receive by grace through faith.
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So Let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NKJV)
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. (Galatians 5:6 NKJV)
Faith is the only way we can appropriate the grace of God. The faith that appropriates God's grace works by love. The spiritual key to right giving is grace (not law, but grace) received through Jesus by faith and working by love.
You must respond to this message with faith. Faith means that we act. Faith without actions is dead. What do we do? We give.
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:38 NKJV)
You have the key to your financial prosperity in your hands. It is the key of faith responding to God's grace. You can do two things. First, you can take the initiative by giving. Second, you can set the proportion in which you wish to receive, because the proportion in which you give decides the proportion in which you receive. Your finances then become God's responsibility.
Today don't power in the world So the same thing that happened with your sin happens with your finances You don't get it because you deserve it. He gives it because it's on his unmarried grace on your life That's why it don't happen when you sow 13 weeks in a row But over a period of time blessings start coming in Favors start following you around like a glove why because your mindset is changed and now you're looking at everything differently And now you're expecting God's blessing on your life and favoring you because you know, you don't have to deserve it anymore It's freely given to you. See this. This is Kingdom given. This is the way we got to think with Kingdom Welcome to power in the word Giving one's resources. It's always been a stumbling block for most believers and non-believers alike So today dr. Norris shows us in the Word of God that giving of our time talent treasure is based on God's grace He shows us how God's grace provides freedom and not bondage in our giving so you stay with us and be encouraged and so tonight we're going to talk about grace on your giving and giving out of grace instead of out of law and Out of goodness and mercy instead of out of being ordered by God and you ever heard people say this, you know The anointing is here right now If you don't give right now in the next 13 seconds, then the anointing is going to drop in you ain't gonna get it guys That is not what the Bible teaches. We're going to talk about the night Kingdom given We've been talking about the kingdom for the last several months But where is the kingdom and inside of us Luke 17 21 low here low there for the kingdom of God is inside of us when? Jesus died and resurrected and came back to earth for 40 days. He only preached the kingdom He talked about the kingdom and that's all he preached now The church doesn't understand the kingdom because we grew up in a different way. We grew up in a republic We grew up in a democracy. We vote on everything and have everything have rights to everything But that's not the way a king works. Okay, a king comes into the city owns the city, right? That's the way the kingdom of God comes He come to rule and reign on the earth and that's what we are Kings and priests Revelation 1 6 revelation 5 10 we rule and reign where I own this earth, right? So look at somebody said I'm beginning to rain and and listen to me We've got to understand how the how the authority of God works
God's given you authority to walk and walk in power and walk in authority. So let's go to 2nd Corinthians chapter 8 verse 7 We're going to get going and this is Paul But since you excel in everything since you excel in everything now We'll look at let's look at somebody say you're excelling in everything Having a we know God wants us to excel in everything He wants you to sell in everything in faith in speech in knowledge and complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you see that you also excel in this grace of So he said I want you to excel in the grace of giving to now you excel in faith you excel in speech you excel in Knowledge you can split in earnestly in love everything you excel in now He wants you to excel in giving now think about it. Just a minute How many of you ever heard this God loves a cheerful giver? Okay, how many ever give when they won't cheerful? Right now stay with me just a minute because I really want to show you what Paul's trying to get across to the church See we've got a generation that's been taught faith, but we've made faith works instead of grace so faith is not trying to believe faith is knowing who you believe in and Because of who you believe in all the issues and all the inheritance come because of what you believe in the moment You got Jesus you got everything right so he said I want you to understand and excel in this grace of giving now Paul's talking about the grace of giving here in other words in this chapter Which deals with giving the word grace occurs seven times So grace is the word charisma charisma, right? It's actually the word that's the same word for all the gifts that function in the church And see this is why the gifts are not functioning the church because they're not functioning through grace Now listen to me very carefully when the grace of God is on your life And you live in that grace you do that by faith not by feelings Not but what's happening externally, but what you know internally of who you are in Christ See the big result in the issue in body of Christ is that we don't know who we are So we can't establish and receive what we deserve because we don't think that we deserve it So we've got to understand this grace of giving that Paul's talks about here That's mentioned seven times in this chapter unless you understand grace and how grace Motivates given we cannot understand God's plan for our money as revealed in the New Testament now
I'm not I'm not gonna talk about money tonight So I don't you get upset because people get upset when you talk about money only people get upsets the ones that don't give Now your grace is going to function internal in other words it works from within and not without No one can write the grace of God in our hearts But the Holy Spirit now listen to me very carefully if he wants us to excel and everything, then he wants us to excel in giving. Right? Now you need to really listen to me because God don't do it the same way with everybody. Go to John chapter 1 verse 17. Because we've got to understand how grace works. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. So the law was given how? Through Moses. Now Moses didn't live under the law even though the law came through Moses. The law was never for the Gentiles. It was only for the Jews. Now you've got to understand who God's talking to in the four Gospels or you're going to misunderstand what God's saying. See the body of Christ today is trying to take the parables and make them line up with salvation and grace and it don't fit. You with me? You ever heard people say, eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth? That's not what Jesus said in the New Testament. He said we're operating by grace now. Right? And love one another as I've loved you, John 13, 34. So we see that the grace message have a different opportunity than what you and I see. You with me? Because grace on your life is knowing that you don't deserve it, but you do it anyway. Because all grace is is undeserved favor. Now I want you to get this. What did Jesus on the cross make provisions for our prosperity? How many of you know he did that on the cross? Now that's not been preached. He said I want you to excel in the grace of giving,
but that's not been preached. He died for our sins. He died that we would be healed, but he never died that we'd prosper. Go to 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sake, not his, he became poor. What for? So you'd become rich. Now all that was by grace. In other words, I want you to excel in all these levels of grace in your faith, in your blessings, in abundance, in every area of your life, in your speech, but I want you to also excel in the grace on giving. In other words, there's grace on your giving and God gives you undeserved things that you don't deserve because your grace is on your giving. Most people give. Here's what people say. I give and I expect nothing back. How many farmers plant a crop and don't expect something back? That would be a crazy farmer, wouldn't it? Now watch this. Jesus sowed a son not expecting anything back. He sowed a son to get a family. So we've got to understand the grace message is more than just your sins being wiped away and removed because of his grace. There's grace on everything you do. And when we understand that God's grace is on everything that I do, that Jesus became poor so that I would become rich. And the word rich here, now you've got to understand something, that you through his poverty might become rich. Now how many of you know that poverty is a curse? It says he's given you the ability to create wealth in Deuteronomy 8.18. Deuteronomy 30 and 19 says choose blessings, choose curses, choose death or choose life. You choose the blessings of God on your life. The reason people are not receiving the blessings financially in their life is because they don't understand it is by grace. Now think about this a minute. How many of you ever give something to get something? That's law. If you've got to do something to get God to do something,
then you're under the law. 90% of the time, well I'm going to give, but God I'm expecting something back. You should be expecting that back. Not because you gave, but because of his grace. Are you with me? Now a farmer plants a crop and he keeps the crop looking after until it's harvest time. Right? But who gives the harvest? The Bible said that God gives the increase. Paul sows, somebody sows, somebody waters, but God gives the increase. So what's he telling us in the body of Christ? If we sow, what's going to happen? Blessings are going to come back. But see they don't come back as fast as we want them to. Because we're giving them to get something and that's law. God I'm going to do, listen, I'm fixing to mess you up with all this religious stuff. If I pray enough, then God will move. There's people having 24 hour, oh Lord I don't know if I need to go here. There's people having 24 hour prayer times getting God to move. He ain't going to move. He's already moved. And everything's done, He just wants us to receive it. You're not going to get healed, you're already healed. You're not going to get prosperous by what you do, He's already prospered you. You're not going to get born again, you're already born again. Are you understanding grace? And so grace is on my giving, well I'm going to give this So then God's going to bless me. No, you give this because of your relationship, and he blesses you because you don't deserve it. See, mercy is when you don't get what you deserve, and grace is when you get what you don't deserve. That's the difference in mercy and grace. Now under the old covenant, Psalms 135, 139, it's mentioned about 17 times mercy,
and every time that word in the actual Hebrew is grace. Mercy endures forever. How many of you know grace endures forever? How many of you know that George can never lose grace on his life? Not only just for his sins, but for every area in his life, grace has got him. When you want a prosperity, grace does it. When you want to have good speech, grace does it. When you want your children to prosper, grace does it. You don't do it. And so we follow the principles of sowing and reaping, the Bible says. He says in Genesis chapter 8, I believe it's verse 22, as long as there's seed time and harvest time, but there's a seed time, and then there's harvest. There's time between the seed and the harvest, and that's the part we don't like. Now listen to me about this giving thing, because I've got a clear understanding of it. I know without a shadow of a doubt I do. Because if you want to prosper in your life, then you've got to understand that you're not doing something to get God to move, you're getting something because you're in love with God. And because you have a relationship with him, you're obedient to the word, and his grace is on your giving. How many of you, when you were growing up and you had children, and they were young, and they'd come home and they'd done something good,
what did you do? You showed a little bit of grace to them. See, I'd show it to them when they didn't even deserve it, because I knew I had a bunch of it on me. Are you with me? And so we've got to understand that Jesus, what did he do? He became sin so that you and I would be free. So the same thing that happened with your sin happens with your finances. You don't get it because you deserve it. He gives it because he has unmerited grace on your life. Are you with me? That's why it don't happen when you sow 13 weeks in a row. But over a period of time, blessings start coming in. Favors start following you around like a glove. Why? Because your mindset has changed, and now you're looking at everything differently. And now you're expecting God's blessing on your life, and favoring you, because you know you don't have to deserve it anymore. It's freely given to you. Are you with me? See, this is kingdom given. This is the way we've got to think with kingdom. Now, let's go somewhere. Grace is manifested here. Jesus was rich, but he became poor. Poor of what? Of his grace.
Oh, Lord Jesus. He became poor of his grace for what? In order that we, through his grace, being poor might become rich in his riches. I'm going to read that to you again. Jesus was rich, but he became poor of his grace. In order that we, through his grace, being poor might become rich with his riches. So Jesus became poor of his grace. And listen to me, church. Listen to me very carefully. I've got this. I'm telling you, the Holy Spirit revealed this to me just a few weeks ago. Jesus, grace was removed off of him is the only way he could become poor. And then his grace was restored upon us so that you and I would be favored with the blessings of the Father, because grace was now on our lives. So the only way Jesus could become poor is for grace to be removed off of his life. That's why when he was on the cross, what was it he said? My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? He lost the father-son relationship because grace was removed. And so he said, my God, my God, why have you forsaken me? And then he looks, and right before he says that, he says before this, he said, John, look after my mom. Think about it.
A man shall leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife, and they shall become one. He said, I'm losing my earthly father, and my heavenly father, and my earthly mother, and now I'm going after a bride, you and me. So we understand that he lost on the cross that relationship with the Father so you and I could be restored to the Father. Now, I'm gonna make a statement. You ready for this? Some of y'all like me a little bit. But I guarantee you, if your son or daughter needed something, you'd make sure they got it before you made sure I got it. Amen? That's what Jesus did. He said, I got you, because you're the firstborn of the righteous. Now, think about that grace. That grace he lost to become poor so that you and I could operate in that grace for the rest of our lives. And now that grace has fallen us around like. a glove. And the Bible said that grace and truth came through what? Jesus Christ. So Paul got the law, and through the law, from Moses. And then Jesus came, came. The Bible said John 10 and 10, a thief come and steal, kill, and destroy. But I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Why? He had a plan for you to give you abundance. Third John chapter 1 verse 2 says, My beloved brethren, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health even as you so keep prosper. Your soul, man, your mind, your will and your most. He said if you'll change the way you're thinking and get away from that
religious mentality, I'll take you into a dimension you've only dreamed about. See, that's the transfer of revelation and wealth that's coming to the body of Christ in 2026 because we're going to change our idea and concepts of the way we think, and we're going to step into a dimension that only a few people ever think like and act like and manifest because you're always going to act like you think you are. And the only thing, listen to me very carefully, the only thing that has the right to show up in your life is what you believe you are. Wealth is not what you have. Wealth is who has you. You need to listen to that. Wealth is not what you got. It's what's got you. Are you hearing me? So if I'm going to walk in the favor and the blessings of God, it's not going to have a lit up and heated doghouse. It's to walk in the favor and establish the kingdom. That's why wealth was given to us. He said, I've given you the power to create wealth in Deuteronomy 8.18. Give you the power to create wealth to establish my covenant on the earth. How, listen, his covenant cannot function without prosperity and favor and abundance in it. Are you hearing me? Now watch this. I want you to see something. The New Testament reveals that grace is revealed only through faith. So grace is only revealed through faith, right? There is nothing that we can ever do that would deserve the grace of God. So it's only by faith. Now watch this. The Bible said in Mark 11.22, have faith in God, have God kind of faith. The Bible says in Romans, Romans 12 and three, that you and I have the measure of faith, not a measure, the measure of faith, the exact amount of faith that you need to accomplish everything you've been designed. In other words, you've got the faith of God. Oh, somebody needs to hear me. And so if we can operate in that dimension, that's why the Bible said faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If we're going to operate, we're going to operate by faith without my people can be destroyed for a lack of knowledge of rejected knowledge and therefore I must reject you. So without faith is impossible. Please God, you know that, right? But that's why you please him all the time because you're full of faith. Look at somebody say, I'm full of faith. I'm not trying to get faith. I'm full of faith. I'm living in faith. I'm full of faith. I don't like any faith because I'm full of faith. I am faith. Why? Because of his grace all my life. I received grace by faith. Hallelujah, man. Faith comes into my life. Grace comes into my life because of faith. So when I serve,
what am I doing? I'm releasing my faith and I'm believing that that grace is on my giving and now giving is going to come back and favor is going to come back and abundance is going to come back because I've released my faith because without faith is impossible. Please him. Look at Hebrews 11. By faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith. Everything was by faith. Abraham was full of faith. Why? Because he believed God. Guys, this word is true. You've got to establish who you are. The world's going to tell you who you ain't. You got to establish who you are. Go to Ephesians chapter 2 verse 8. Now stay with me. For by grace, for by grace, you have been saved through what? And that's not of yourself, it's a gift of God. Let me tell you something. If there's anything you've got to do to get it, then it's not a gift. The word gift in the actual Greek here is the word keresim, which means grace. Man, for by grace you have been saved through what? Now watch this. Let's read this thing. I'm going to mess this theology up, okay. I'm going to tear it all to pieces. I want to, I intend to. That's exactly what I was born for. For by grace you have been saved. That's past tense, past tense. For by grace you have been saved through faith. That's not of yourself. Now listen, isn't it amazing that he gave you the faith to believe for him. That would give you the grace that he gave. It ain't your faith. It's God kind of faith. What does he say in Mark 11, 22? Have faith in God or have God kind of faith. Then the next verse says, for surely I say to you. He's telling you what to do. I'm saying to you, whoever. Are you a whoever? What did John 3, 16 say? For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son to whoever, believing in him should not perish. So the whoever is you, right? But you're not the whoever unless you do the next part. Whoever says that it's mountain. You don't talk to the mountain, you're not recognizing yourself as a whoever. Right? He said, I want to say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea does not doubt in his heart, but believes those things which he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. So, you're not a whoever if you don't say to your mountain, your obstacle, your situation, your circumstances, you've got to talk to it. And if you don't talk to it, you're not a whoever even though you're a whoever. Right? You're not taking a membership as a whoever if you're not talking to the mountain. If you're letting the mountain talk to you, then you're not talking to the mountain, you're not a whoever even though you're a whoever. You with me?
Read the scripture like it says, for surely I say to you, whoever, whoever says to this mountain, be thou removed and be cast into the sea, shall not doubt in his heart, but believe those things which he says, those things which he says shall be done to him, and he will have whatever he says. That's you. You got exactly what you're saying. The reason you're not walking in blessings is because you're not talking blessings. Right? You've got to talk blessings. Thank you, brother. You've got to talk blessings. You've got to say to that mountain, you can't, listen, stop telling God how big your mountain is, and tell that mountain how big God is. You've got to say to it, you're not a whoever if you don't say something to it. And then look at 24. Therefore, I say to you again, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you'll have them. That's pretty cut and dry, guys. Why would he say that if it wasn't true? The word ask means make a demand on what's legally yours. So when you pray, believe that you receive. The word believe in the actual Greek means to possess it, take it. That's what the word receive means, possess. You need to be possessed with it. You ever been possessed with anything? Probably most of you are possessed with the devil at some point in time. Right? Think about it, though. Have you ever been possessed with anything? Something that just drove you and drove you and drove you and drove you and drove you and drove you. You think about it when you were in the bed. You thought about when you got up. You thought about it and you woke up in the middle of the night. I have. I've been possessed with more than God.
Thank goodness for grace, though, right? Now, watch this. I want you to see something. Go back with me to Ephesians 2 and 8. Because I want you to see this. For by grace, you have been what? Past tense. Have you been saved? That he gave you. It ain't even your faith. It's his faith. Wow, that's grace. That's a gift. And that's not of yourself. That's the gift of God. Now, watch this. Notice the word, by grace through faith, not by works. Teaching about something that you can only receive by grace through faith. Think about that just a minute. I want you to go with me to 2 Corinthians 9, verse 6. But this I say, but this I say, but this I say, this I say. Why is everybody saying so much? This I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. What's he's telling you? Does it mean the more you give, the bigger your faith is? That's not what he's saying. He said the more you give, the more you know how faith works. In other words, the more you give, the bigger you think grace is. Your level of grace is determined on your level of giving in your life.
Go with me to Mark chapter 4, verse 23, 23, 24, and 25. I want to show you something that lines up with this. Anyone has ears to hear, let him hear. And he said to them, take heed what you hear. With the same measure that you use, it will be measured to you. And to you who hear, more will be given. Now, I want you to understand something here. Let's back up. Let's tear this scripture, all the pieces, and understand. With the same measure that you use, the word use there is the Greek word forgive. So with the same measure that you give, it'll be measured to you. In other words, and to you who hear, more will be given. In other words, what he's saying is, if you don't understand how to give, you're never going to understand how to receive. That's why you've heard this scripture, it's better to give than it is to receive. And that's unbiblical because we don't understand that. What he's saying is the more you understand how giving, you'll understand more about receiving. Because your level of giving is always going to be determined in your level of receiving. So what you give is what you believe you receive. Has nothing to do with your giving. It has to do with what you believe you're going to get. That's why Jesus was a big deal when his father sowed Jesus so that he'd receive other children. He sowed his son so he'd get sons. God sowed the son of man so he could get sons of God. Because we're not a son of God until after the resurrection. The Bible said in 1 in 4 of Romans,
that he was declared the son of God by the resurrection. So God sowed the son of man so he'd get sons of God. Jesus didn't become the son of God until after the resurrection. And you and I being declared righteous. Was what made him the son of God by the resurrection because the word resurrection the actual Greek means to stand up out of What did he stand up out of death? That's why death no longer has any power. That's why it ain't about heaven or hell It's about death or life and that's why Jesus didn't say I come that you might have heaven I come that you might have life and have life more abundantly That's why he said death and life are in the power of the tongue Right and in Deuteronomy 30 19 says this that you choose blessings or curses you choose death or you choose life see you don't understand that you've stepped into a life that you can't ever get out of and That life is full of the grace and the favor of God and the mercy of God and the goodness of God And if you don't understand who you are in that dimension, you'll no longer stay here in this dimension and dwell here That's why Paul said this world's growing strangely dim to me because I've seen the other side See you look so much better in a dimension that you know Not all because you're somewhere in the future and you look much better than you look right now And that's exactly what God is trying to reveal to us that we're in another dimension existing on the earth That's why Jesus said in John chapter 3 verse 13. He said I'm standing here in earth, but I'm in heaven See, we're a heavenly being not trying to be spiritual. We're spiritual being overcoming the earth We come here to rule as a heavenly being on the earth. We're the ambassadors for Christ that come to represent heaven on earth You can't tell me God ain't a good God you can't tell me that he won't do what he said he would do He ain't gonna abandon you now.
