I’ve Got Issues | I’ve Got Envy Issues | Aaron Burke
In this message, Pastor Aaron teaches on an issue everyone has, but no one wants to acknowledge. Envy often shows up through comparison, quietly stealing joy, gratitude, and contentment. In this message, he unpacks how to recognize envy in our lives, break the cycle of comparison, genuinely celebrate others, and pursue lasting contentment in Christ. Thank you for enjoying this full service with worship and a life changing message from Radiant Church. We pray this moves you closer to Christ and encourages you.
Take out those notes you got on your way in today. We are in part one of a seven-part series called I've Got Issues, and we are gonna discuss issues in our life that we all deal with, that we all need to bring to the surface so that we can become more and more like Christ. How many would admit, you know what, I've got some issues that I need to deal with in my life? Come on, can I see a hand all over? How many are sitting next to someone that they've really got issues? Come on, some of y'all, that's way too many hands went up there. Here's the reality is you've got issues, and I've got issues, and if you don't think you have issues, that, my friend, is your issue right there. But we're not gonna keep those issues hidden. We're gonna bring them to the surface because you really won't find healing until you get honest. And the Bible tells us in Proverbs 28, 13 that whoever conceals their sins, whoever hides them, they're not gonna prosper. But the one who confesses their sin and renounces it, that's the one who finds mercy. And I want you to find mercy. I want you to walk in all that God has for your life, and the only way to do that is to bring it to the surface. You can write it down in your notes this way
because you cannot change what you will not confront. And there's a lot of things that are in our life that are under the surface that we've just kind of managed, and we're not gonna just sit there and manage it anymore. We're gonna murder it, and we're gonna deal with it, and we're gonna see things actually get better in our life, and we're gonna become more like Christ. Can I hear a good amen today? So our first issue happens to all of us. Let me give you kind of the setup to it because the setup usually looks like this. You're on social media, you're scrolling through, and you see an update from one of your friends. Maybe this update is that they have bought a new house. Maybe they have announced their pregnancy. Maybe their business is expanding to another location, or maybe it's not even on social media. Maybe you're in Publix, and you run into this person in the aisle there in Publix, and they tell you how they're going on yet another vacation to Europe. Or they got engaged, and she's showing you the ring. Or their kid, their kid made the winning basket at the game, and you're hearing this, and as you're hearing this, you have this unbelievable feeling that comes inside of you. And you should be happy. You should be celebratory. You probably even smile, but inside, here's how you feel. Ugh. How many know what I'm talking about?
Like, you hear it, and you wanna celebrate, but you're like, ugh. You know who they are, you know what's going on, and you know what you've been praying for. And sometimes, what they're announcing to you is the very thing you've been praying for, and they got it, and you didn't. What do you do when this feeling comes over us, and this feeling is named envy? Envy. I titled today's message, I've Got Envy Issues. I've Got Envy Issues. Now, many of you would probably have a question of why envy would be the first in the series. You'd think we'd start with anger, or lust, or pride, or control. These obvious things, but envy is the hidden sin. It's the silent sin. It's the one that not everybody sees, but everybody deals with, and it's that one sin that if you're not careful with, grows in your life, and is actually hurting you more than you can imagine. In all of your homes, you have these things called smoke detectors. A smoke detector goes off whenever there's smoke in the house. We all have this. It doesn't go off when my wife cooks, but it goes off when I cook. How many know what I'm talking about?
It just happens, and our kids will maybe make a special breakfast for us. We know they're making a special breakfast. Why? The smoke detector goes off. It's just what happens, because the smoke detector is obvious. It's the smoke fills the room, and as it fills the room, it gets into the detector, and the detector goes off. There's another detector you have in your house, and you might not think it's that important, but it's vitally important to your life, and it's called a carbon monoxide detector. A carbon monoxide detector is so vital because tens of thousands of people every year get sent to the hospital because there is this poisonous gas that is released out of your appliances that if you're not careful, come in your house, and it can't be seen. They call it the silent killer, the invisible killer. It's the one that is in the room, and you don't even know it's in the room until there's a moment that the alarm kind of goes off like that. And then you go, what was that sound? There was something going off. And then you realize, oh, wait, wait, wait. The alarm's going off. There's something deadly in here.
I just can't see it. Does that make sense? My whole desire for this message today is that this would be your carbon monoxide alarm that would go off in your life to let you realize and you go, there's something that's indicating that there's something deadly inside of me. And if I don't deal with it, then it'll eventually kill you. And we all deal with this. And it's more serious than you can imagine. I wanna show you what James says about this. James, the brother of Jesus, who writes this beautiful passage that is so intense in the book of James chapter three. He says, if you, talking to us as believers, harbor, and if you underline in your Bibles, I want you to underline this phrase, bitter envy. There it is right there. And selfish ambition. And where do we harbor it? In our hearts. In our hearts. He goes, don't boast about it. He goes, or deny the truth. Let me tell you what he's saying right there. Don't deny that it's actually there. So some of you just go, oh, it's a message on envy. I don't need this. This is for somebody else.
We all deal with it. It's in all of our hearts. Don't deny the truth. He goes, such wisdom doesn't come down from heaven, but is earthly, unspiritual. And look at this phrase, it's demonic. Like the devil is involved in deceiving you and thinking you don't have envy issues. He goes, it's demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, here's what the outcome is. Disorder and every evil practice. Everything evil in our life flows from this. Well, why do our relationships break apart? It's actually rooted in envy. Why did you get in so much debt? It's not because you had to have that stuff. You bought it because you were trying to impress somebody else or you saw what somebody else bought and you're trying to keep up with some kind of race that you were never called to be in and envy has gripped your heart and it's leading you more than you can imagine. So here's what envy is, because a lot of people get envy and jealousy kind of mixed up. Jealousy is really about protecting what you have. You're jealous of what, you know, when protection, when it comes to your kids,
when it comes to the money that you have, when it comes to your boyfriend or your girlfriend, that's jealousy. Jealousy is not always a bad thing. We actually know it's in the character of God. God is a jealous God. He's protective of us, but he's not an envious God. Envy is different. Envy is I resent what you have. So it's not what I have, it's I'm focused on what you have. I'm focused on the things that are going good in your life, on the blessings in your life, on what you're doing. And we live in a world consumed, especially because of social media, with envy, because we are all focused on what's going on in other people's lives right now. And because of this, what it's doing is it's creating a deep dissatisfaction with what God is doing in your life. Write it down in your notes this way, because envy is resenting God's goodness to others and ignoring God's goodness to me. You hear that? It's I'm resenting the blessing you got, and I'm ignoring the fact that God's been good to me. I deal with this with my kids all the time. I'll give one of my five children something. We can give them a little date, or take them to an arcade, or they get a special toy. And the other children, who I would love to say, when they hear about it, they walk in the room
and they go, oh, that's so wonderful, Father, that you have blessed my siblings. But they do not do that. They respond with the phrase that every child knows, that's not fair. That's not fair, oh, your kids do the same things. That's not fair. Like, we're raised in this society that if you get something, I should get something. And I have to remind my kids, life ain't fair. Hey, it's gonna happen, and you might as well learn it now, that life is not fair, that there are gonna be times that you pray for a promotion, and you don't get it. There are gonna be times that you go to that Bible study, and you pray, and you believe God for that child, and that person at the Bible study, who's already got five, gets pregnant, and you don't. And it's painful, and it's hard. And we all have those moments where it gets in our heart, and what you end up doing, as you do what my kids do, is they think, nothing's going good in my life. Hold on, because they got a coffee date with mom. and you didn't get that, your life is all a wreck. Can I not remind you? I have to take some time, do I have to remind you about the room that you have and the food that you ate that you didn't even pay for? Do I have to remind you of how we went to Disney? Do I have to remind you? I gotta remind them, hey, your life is actually blessed.
The only reason you think it's not blessed is because you're focused on what you don't have instead of what you do have right now. And this is what it does to all of us because we all battle this. Because here's what envy does, write it down, it steals your joy. You can be having a great day, I'll tell you, and then you see what somebody else is doing, which by the way, is fake on social media. That one picture that they posted, it took 25 other pictures to get to that one moment. And you think, my life is missing out. I'm secondary, I don't have it going on like they got it going on. And your joy gets stolen. I remember growing up, my parents, they did such a good job for Christmas. They worked so hard, they provided us with these amazing toys, it was so fun. I remember having so much joy until I went back to school and saw what my friends got. You know what I'm talking about? And I remember there's this one kid named Don. Don had the rich grandparents. You know what I'm talking about? And he came in every year with the newest Game Boy, the newest Nintendo, the newest pair of shoes. I always had the Payless shoes that were new and I was happy with it.
My Don didn't get Payless, he got Nikes. He got Adidas. And I remember he walked in with his shoes and then all of a sudden, my Payless shoes weren't good anymore. Why? Because my joy was stolen because I'm looking what's going on in his life. It happens to all of us. Steals our joy. You know what else it does? It removes your peace. Like God, God is a God of peace. He wants you to be established in peace. You're not gonna have peace when you're looking at what everybody else is doing in their life. The Bible says in Proverbs 14, look at this wisdom. A heart at peace gives life to the body. So you wanna make sure you have peace in your heart. Do you know how you have peace in your heart? He tells us what's next. Envy rots the bones. So you have peace in your heart by getting envy out, by not focusing on what everybody else has. No, I've got peace. I'm satisfied. I'm not gonna let envy rot my life. It really removes your peace. Here's your third one.
It hurts your relationships. Some of you, you're in such conflict with your siblings because you're always focused on, I can't believe they got that blessing. They got that house. They got that promotion. Their kids got that. I didn't get this. And what you're doing is you're ruining even the beautiful relationship with your siblings because you're not complimenting each other. You're in competition with each other. It's the same with your workplace. It's the same what's going on in your family. It's even with your spouse. And it's hurting your relationship because there's an envy in your heart, what they're doing versus what you're doing. Here's your next one. It denies your uniqueness. You, because envy, what it does at its core is it makes us want to be somebody else. It makes us want to live their life and walk in their way. And it denies our uniqueness. It helps us. It hurts us and hinders us from what God has uniquely crafted us to be. You're not called to be that social media influencer. You're not called to be your sibling.
You're not called to be your parents. You're called to be uniquely who God has called you to be. I'm grateful for the uniqueness he has in each of us. And here's your next one. And it blinds you to your blessings. And doesn't this happen to all of us? When we see what they get, we go, man, I'm frustrated. I don't have that in my life. And I'm telling you, as soon as the enemy can get this in your soul, he traps you. There's a story given by an author a long time ago. He talks about how the devil was crossing the Libyan desert one day. And he came across a little group of demons. And these demons were trying to tempt this monk out in the wilderness. So they're throwing every temptation at the monk. They're throwing lust and greed and pride and anger. And the monk just kept shaking it off. He's too strong. And they couldn't get him to fall. So the devil walks up to the workers and says, watch this, let me show you how to get him. And he leaned into the monk. And he whispered one sentence in his ear. He says, your brother has just been promoted and made Bishop of Alexandria. And the monk's face drops. The enemy has won. And the enemy takes over.
The devil turned to his demons and says, that, my gentlemen, is how you do it. That's how he gets us all, isn't it? When lust can attack you, when it's not the money thing, what does he do? He lets you see the blessings in other people's lives. And he makes you go, oh, I must be missing it. I must be missing it. It blinds you to the blessings. And then eventually, here's your last. is it kills. It kills. It kills your joy, it kills your peace, it kills every area of your life. And I'll tell you this, if you're not careful with it, it'll kill the relationships in your life. We see this, by the way, the very first murder in the Bible was rooted in one thing, envy. You see it with Cain and Abel. Let me show it to you in the scriptures. We're in Genesis chapter four. And Abel also brought an offering, fat portions from the firstborn of a flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering, he did not look on with favor. So Cain was very angry and his face was downcast. So look at this, they're both bringing an offering. Cain brings an offering, but the Lord is not satisfied. Abel is.
Abel's offering satisfies the Lord. So instead of Cain fixing it, he gets downcast. And the Lord challenges Cain and says, why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, you'll be accepted. Hey, don't compete with your brother, just do the right thing and you'll be accepted. But if you don't do what is right, look what he says. Cross all of our locations, lean into this. Sin is crouching at your door and it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. Hey, let me just say what this means, okay? If you don't deal with that envy in your heart, there's sin that's crouching at your door and what you'll end up doing is doing stupid things you never thought you would do to actually compete with somebody that God has never called you to compete with in the first place. And what does he end up doing? He ends up killing his brother, very first murder in the Bible. Joseph, Joseph's brothers, what do they try to do to him? They try to kill him. Why do they try to kill him? Envy. Saul tries to kill David. Why does Saul try to kill David? Envy. The religious leaders try to kill Jesus.
You know why? Because they were envious. It happens to all of us and in the Bible, we see the extreme that they end up murdering the person because of envy and it happens in our world today. You might remember the story of Tonya Harding. Tonya Harding, she was a professional figure skater, maybe one of the best technical skaters of her generation. She landed the first ever triple axel in a competition in the US championships. She won the title with the first perfect 6.0 ever given to a female skater for technical merit at that event. She had every success you could ask for. So what got a hold of her heart? She started looking at the life of Nancy Kerrigan, her competition. And as she started to look at Nancy Kerrigan, what does she do? She sees the competition. Instead of celebrating what's going on in her life, she starts looking at Nancy's life and then the story goes, it gets pretty crazy because then it's her ex-husband and her bodyguard travel hundreds of miles across the nation, find Nancy Kerrigan, hit her knees with a metal baton so that she could not skate. And it was a massive scandal all rooted in one word, envy. And obviously, history has talked about that
and Tonya Harding was forever banned from the sport. What is the point of the story? The point of the story is, envy is something that'll kill your life and the only way that you overcome it is by killing it first. So let's deal with it, let's deal with it head on. In the last few minutes that I have with you today, let me give you four things that we can all do to murder envy in our life. Number one is you gotta name it. You gotta name it. This is so vitally important. You cannot kill what you do not name. You cannot conquer what you will not confront. And what I've learned is that I have to call it what it actually is. So I'll tell you, out of all the issues, this is the one I probably battle the most because just in my life and travel and as a pastor, you would think that pastors all just celebrate each other. We love each other. But to be honest, I'll have moments and I'll leave here on Sunday and God will do amazing things and I'll see so many lives changed and I'll hear all the reports from the campuses and I'll be so happy and then I'll get online and I'll watch what, because the only thing I follow is basically pastors
and they're all friends of mine and I get online and I see all the exaggerated things that I know are not real that they're posting on their social media. And we had 250 people get baptized and they had 28,000 people get baptized. I'm like, there ain't 28,000 people in your town, but whatever. And I'm hearing it and you know what I have to do? It comes into my heart and I have to sit there and go, well, I don't know what I think about that. And you know what I have to do? I have to name it. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Lord will challenge me. No, no, no, name it. What are you doing? I'm envious of that person. I'm envious of what's going on. I'm envious of what's happening. Katie and I are trying our hardest. We were really trying to raise our kids to love the Lord. And parenting is really hard. And when you see people parenting and you see it on social media. these steps in, because we're like trying to survive the day. You know what I mean? Like, we're trying to just make it through the day. And their kids are like 12 years old, and it's like, we've already graduated with a 4.8.
I'm like, well, if you combine some of my kids, I get a 4 point something, I guess. We're just trying to make it. You know, just we're trying to choose between Harvard and Yale. And I'm like, well, my kids can beat up your kids, all right? I'm going to take that. I'm not. You have to name it. You have to name it. I have very successful siblings, and I'll see them get promoted, and I'll just see their blessings in their life. And it just gets in my heart, and I have to name it. No, I'm envious of this. God, I want you to help me. I actually wrote it out. Like, I envy, and then you fill in the blank. Maybe it's a co-worker. Maybe it's a friend, and then someone in your life, and it seems from a distance, which, by the way, you don't know their story, but it seems from a distance they got it all made. And you're struggling, and it's healing for you to write this out, to actually name it in your life. Here's your second one, is you've got to stop comparing. You've got to stop comparing. There's a famous quote. You probably heard it from Theodore Roosevelt. Says it this way, that comparison is the thief of joy. He didn't say comparison can sometimes steal your joy. He didn't say comparison borrows from your joy.
He says it's the thief of joy, meaning it's the number one attack against the joy in your life. And nothing kills us quite like comparison. That's why you've got to recognize your God-given identity, and hear me out, and your God-given story is unique. And because of that, you've got to stop looking at everybody else's story like they got it together. Listen, one of the healthiest things you're gonna do is go on your phone and unfollow some people. Let me do, here's the Christian, there's a Christian way of doing that. It's called muting them. You know what I'm talking about? That's the Christian version. So we don't have to unfollow them, you just mute them where you don't see it anymore. Because there's, to be honest, there are pastors who I highly respect, but I've had to mute their stories because it steals the joy out of my life. Because immediately I go to comparison. And I'm telling you, it'll wreck you if you keep sitting there in comparison. Can I just challenge you? God's got a unique race for you, and he's got a unique pace for that race. So some of you need to stop with this phrase. I'm so behind. Who are you behind? Well, my friends are all at this level. You're not running their race.
But my kids are all, their kids are all so far, they're not your kids. You are not on their timeline. You are submitted to the God of the universe and his sovereignty, and he'll promote you in the right time, at the right place. You gotta learn to say, I'm not comparing with anybody else. I'm running my race that God has for me. And here's the good news, is God is so powerful, he can do in a matter of months what other people it took decades to get there. You think you're behind? You're not behind. You're about to see a miracle in your life. Watch how God will bring you further and faster than ever before as you're submitted to him. Come on somebody, do you believe it today? That's why Paul says, don't you dare try to classify or compare yourselves with other people who are commending themselves. That's social media. They're all celebrating themselves. Hey, look how I've got it all together. And you know what you do? He says, don't you dare classify and compare yourselves with them. He goes, when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with themselves, by the way, that's not even wise.
You're not in their race. You're not running at their pace. You're submitted to the God of the universe and you're gonna do it on God's timing. And I'm telling you, you're not behind. You're exactly where God wants you to be. Can I hear a good amen today church? Here's number three. You gotta celebrate others. How do you kill envy? You kill envy by celebrating others. And by the way, this is a discipline. This is a discipline where you have to, you have to train yourself that when other people get a blessing, you're gonna celebrate them instead of being frustrated about where you're at. And this is hard. This is the hardest one for me. And I've had to learn some tricks and I've had to actually have some mentors speaking to my life. And I'm gonna give you some of my tricks in this because the Bible tells us to rejoice with those who rejoice. So when you hear about a blessing in their life, you're not to get frustrated, you're actually to have an action, a discipline of rejoicing with those who are rejoicing. And sometimes it's hard.
You've been praying for that baby, and it's hard when they tell you. Let me speak to some of the girls in here. Because some of y'all, that girl comes up to you and shows you the ring where she got engaged. And it's a monster rock. And she's like, oh, I got engaged, it's amazing. And you know, she hasn't lived one day of purity in her life. You know that you have been following the God, the Lord of the universe faithfully for years. You have been honoring God with your purity. Every 21 days of prayer and fasting, you have come to the Lord and prayed for God to give you a husband, and she gets engaged. This is the moment where you have to protect your life from envy. Because you don't know the story, you don't know what God's doing in your life. So here's what I've had to learn how to do. I've had to learn how to do this. This is the practice, the discipline of celebrating others. Where somebody says something to you that is a miracle you wanted, you have to respond with this. I am so happy for you. Now, as you write it down, there's multiple ways to say this. Because it doesn't work if you grit your teeth.
I am so happy for you. Oh, you have your house on Bay Shore, and then you just bought a condo on the beach. I am so happy for you. Oh, you got a new car that you paid for in cash, and mine's barely holding together. I'm so happy for you. But I'm telling you what happens when you say it, it breaks envy out of your life. It breaks envy out of your life, because you have to learn to rejoice for those who are rejoicing. I'll tell you this. Let me take it another step further. It's not enough to just say it. You should back it with action. So you've been praying to find a man, and that person gets engaged. Well, then throw them the bridal shower. And watch how your action to say, I'm gonna celebrate you even though I didn't get what I want, is something that'll break envy off your life. It's powerful. So I've been doing this at Radiant 12 years now. We started the church, and we've been praying for South Tampa for God to give us a building for 12 years. And it's crazy, because while we were praying for that for 12 years, I have all these friends around Tampa Bay, and friends in all the parts of Florida,
and these are pastors, and they will share with me their unbelievable stories of just miracles. And I have a friend in Orlando, I remember he called me, and he's just like, oh my gosh, we've been praying for a building for two years, and God gave us this massive piece of property, I just wanted to let you know. I am so happy for you. So happy for you. So I'll tell you what, a mentor in my life, guy by the name of Dino, I called him years ago, at church, got a piece of property that I was just praying for, believing for. And I remember crying, I remember telling him, I'm so angry, I wanna be happy for them, but I'm so angry. So he told me this, this is early days of Radiant, and I've done this three times ever since. So here's what his advice, so I'm telling him, I'm crying, I'm going, I'm just so mad. And you know how you're venting to someone, you want them just to endorse your bad feelings. I'm just like, I'm just so mad, aren't they terrible people? And he goes, you know what Aaron, he goes, you know what you should do? You should give them money. I said, I'm sorry pastor, I don't think you understand what I'm saying. He's saying, we're believing for a building,
they got a building, I'm mad at them. And by the way, their church doesn't need any money. They got all the money in the world. And he goes, no, no, you're not giving them money because they need it, you're giving them money because your heart needs it. He goes, you gotta get free, and the only way you're gonna get free is stop competing and start celebrating them. So he wrote a check, sent it to the church, three times since then, it was about six months ago, another church, the church just got blessed with this piece of property. And I was like, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna send them money. You know why? Because I'm gonna free my heart from the very things that could cripple me. I believe God's blessed our church. You know why? Because we're not sitting there trying to compete with everybody else. We're being content with what God has for us. We're celebrating what God has for us. And when you get to that position, now you're actually in line to receive what God has for your life. Can I hear a better amen today, church? I'm not out of time, but I gotta give you the fourth one. How do you kill envy in your life?
Number four is you gotta pursue contentment. Contentment, contentment is the key to all of it. Because I didn't send those checks because I'm sitting there going, well, I'm gonna get something in my life. You know what I do? I'm just going, if God never blesses me, you know what? I'm blessed. If God never gives me more, I'm okay with it. Because contentment is the key to overcoming envy in our lives because it's actually a lack of contentment is what envy is. It's this idea, it's the reason we get into debt. It's the reason we're always trying to pursue other stuff because we're just not satisfied with what God has already done in our life. And Paul confronts this head on to his spiritual son, Timothy, who as he's talking about false teachers and the grip of money, which is so rampant in our society, Paul hits it head on with the grip of money. And you know what he says? He says, but godliness with contentment, that's where you find great gain. Great gain is not the next level on the corporate ladder. It's not the biggest house. It's not the newest car. It's not the best gadget.
You don't need more. Somebody needs to hear the word of the Lord today. You don't need more. More will not satisfy your life. Contentment does. Saying God, if you never give me anything else, I'm content with what you give me. You died on the cross for me. You secured my eternity in heaven. You've given me a church and you put breath in my lungs. I'm content and I'm gonna praise you for it. How about we take about 15 seconds and give God a little bit of praise if he does nothing else for you? Aren't you grateful that what he's already done? I'm grateful, I'm grateful. I'm content, I'm content, I'm content. And I'll tell you, contentment is the key to joy in your life. So I don't have to have more. I'm content with what God's given me. It will help you. Another pastor in my life, one of our overseers here at Radian. I have a lot of pastors that speak in my life because I'm a mess, all right? And this pastor's named Daniel Floyd and he pastors Gateway Church there in Dallas now and he's just an amazing man of God. Preaches here about once a year.
He was helping me with this a few years back. I said, I told him, I said, I'm just always battling, just looking at other people's lives and stuff. And he gave me this phrase that has changed my life. So I thought I would end the message with this phrase. He goes, I have to wake up every day and I just have to tell myself this phrase. I am grateful for my portion. I'm grateful for my portion. I know what I see on social media that looks awesome, but I'm grateful for my portion. I see how your kids are thriving, but I'm grateful for my portion. I mean, you ran that marathon in that time. That's awesome. I'm grateful for my portion. I'm grateful for what God's doing in my life. And when I have learned to be satisfied and content with the portion that God's given me, the car he's given me, the breath he's given me, the energy he's given me, the friendships he's given me, the church he's given me, it's when I find that, it's when I truly walk in the joy of the Lord. Because I don't know about you, I'm not waiting for more. I'm grateful for the portion that God has given me. Is there anybody that can just take a few seconds and just thank God for the portion that he's given you? Amen? Receive the word today. Take your hands, hold it out.
To just ask the Holy Spirit to search our hearts. We all have areas of envy that are the root of every evil thing. And I pray over our lives that the Holy Spirit would reveal it. Come on, even just right now, just name it. Just to the Lord, I envy, and then fill in the blank. Maybe it is that friend. Maybe it is that sibling. Maybe it's that person in your small group, and it's just been a battle. Say, God, I give it to you. I don't wanna run their race. I don't wanna live in discontentment. I wanna be satisfied. I wanna be grateful for my portion. I pray for everybody that's listening to this message. Lord, those that are driving in their car, those that are at the gym, those that are sitting in their living room, and they're frustrated where they're not in life, but God, I pray today that they would trust the God. That is always on time. That said he would supply all of our needs and we God make a decision today that we will be grateful for our portion that you have given us and through that contentment we will find great gain in you in Jesus name we pray.
