How many of us are grateful to be in God's presence? shirts this morning no I am we tell you welcome home because we believe that you are actually home and for you to believe that you are home it means that you need to feel that you belong and just as the way that you walked into that door is exactly how you belong and we are welcoming you here and if it is your first time here and reach we say welcome home and that your invitation the way that you stumbled into this church this morning the baggage that you have

carried is not by a happenstance it is not a coincidence but know that you have been prayed for diligently you have been prayed for by the leadership in this church and you have been prayed for by your neighbor who was sitting next to you we pray that today at some point in time that this would not just be an experience for you in your in your day your checkbox Sunday that this would not be coupled with a nice lunch date it's something that we do on a Sunday but it would be an experience with the Holy God who has the power to change you from the inside out and that the running back and forth and the stumbling would stop in the name of Jesus we would acknowledge who is in control and for the ones that continuously returning and that are serving and are wearing security vests and are pouring you coffee and are greeting you at the door we say welcome home and for the ones that are watching on Pando live right now we say welcome home that you are seen loved and cared for and for those that do not know what Pando is Pando is an app like a tablet that men and women have in prison and they are able to watch our church service and they are able to listen to our worship service they are able to tune in to other things that we do as a church and they are being ministered all around the United States because of that app and yesterday we had the honor and the privilege to go into Boonville Correctional Facility and what happened in Boonville Correctional Facility yesterday is such a there was such a sweet spirit in that place there was such a heart of repentance in there from those men and can I tell you that what burdens me the most is that there are men right now in that prison that are more free than the ones that are underneath the sound of my voice right now and all of it is is attributed to obedience that we go in under obedience that we give under obedience because all we do is come and praise the name of Jesus we lift God up and we give him glory we worship him and he does the ministry he changes the hearts of the men he works on them from the inside out and he is doing that and today is a very special day because today is the

if you didn't if you didn't make it that was your loss um it was a wonderful time to be honest i i really enjoyed one you get to just be able to hang out and not have like any other agenda other than just clean i guess i don't know uh that doesn't sound very exciting to some people so i maybe i should have changed the presentation of that whenever i was coming up here but it's all right you know my ipad was messing up so i was trying to find some filler there you know what i mean um let's yeah we had fun we had fun we had some good chicken hey man come on somebody you can't ever go wrong with chicken just saying you know and so hey we are we are in a a series that honestly has probably been one of my favorite series so far um i've had fun preaching the last couple messages and in it i have really just felt like the lord was doing something special and today i want to jump into a message we're in a series that i have a theme for the book of acts okay and the theme is church on the move but the series that we are in at this second is it starts with power it starts with power and and i want to title my message today the fire that changed everything the fire that changed everything i was doing some research and i found in 1871 that there was a small fire that started in the woods of wisconsin and no one thought much of it at first it was honestly what they said just started as a spark they couldn't really find the the fruition of it but they think that it came from just a small type of campfire type fire and and is what happened is from that spark the conditions were right right the wind picked up the trees were completely dry and that small fire actually began to spread and before long it became what history now calls the pestigo fire which is the deadliest wildfire in american history overnight over a million acres was burned it was actually at the same time that the chicago fire which gets a lot of publicity happened at the same time but it's because chicago is a little bit more well known but in this pestigo fire entire towns were consumed not because it started big but because one spark found in the right conditions spread all across some survivors of the fire actually said that it was like a tornado and that it was like a mighty rushing wind consuming their town. Now, if you think about Acts chapter two, right, the church started with 120 believers in the room. That's a little bit less than what we have in this room right now. There was no buildings, there was no political power,

there was no influence, there was just a spark that settled on the right conditions. And that spark began a movement that spread from Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the world. And 2,000 years later, that fire, baby, is still spreading across the world and across the earth. And some of us might not know this, but this was the moment of Pentecost in the book of Acts. And Pentecost was not a moment that the fire ended, Pentecost was the moment that the fire started. See, the question is not whether the fire still burns, catch this, the question is will God find people today who are willing to catch it? That's willing to say, God, I'll let the conditions of my heart be in the proper posture to allow your spirit to do what your spirit wants to do in my life, I will allow you to just come in and be received in my life because, God, I don't want the same results that I've had, I don't want the same things that I've always got, I want a fire that burns within my spirit, one that is an unquenchable fire, one that puts out everything else that is in me, but lights something in my spirit that does something that I can't stop, that I can't contain, why? Because once a fire ignites and the conditions are right, it spreads, it moves beyond our control, it reaches farther than anyone ever expected,

and the Bible says in Acts chapter two that tongues of fire rested on each of them and the spirit filled that room. But unlike the fire in Pestigo, that brought destruction, this fire brought the Holy Spirit that brings life. Come on, church, where the spirit's fire spreads, broken hearts are healed, the lost are found, hopeless find purpose, believers are empowered, and the world is reached with the gospel that saves lives. It reaches the nations, it goes beyond the places that people didn't think it could go, and what started with 120 believers in one room has now reached millions of people across the world, why? Because when the spirit sets a church on fire, the world cannot ignore the smoke that is coming from a church that is filled with the spirit, that the people are filled with the spirit, and they begin to move in a quenchable way that begins to just take over a dark world that has no way to contain a fire that the Holy Spirit will release. But when God's people, or when God's spirit fills his people, ordinary believers become supernatural movements. Amen. But a fire, a spark, has to find the proper conditions in order for it to spread, because if you start a fire in a condition that doesn't spread, it will dwindle and the fire will go out, and so today, from Acts chapter two,

I wanna look at three conditions that will enhance the spread of a spiritual fire, three conditions that will enhance the spread of a spiritual fire, and the first condition is this, the right people were present. The right people were present. Acts chapter two, verse one says this. On the day of Pentecost, all the believers were meeting together in one place. All of the believers, see, the spirit fell on a gathered community, a community of believers. They were together, they were unified, they were waiting on obedience, and here's what we know. God pours his spirit out. on a unified, expectant people. See, the atmosphere of unity prepares the atmosphere for power. The atmosphere of unity prepares the atmosphere for power. See, the Bible says in Acts 2.1, when the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all together in one place. Notice what the Bible does not say. It doesn't say that they were all in agreement in one place. It doesn't say that they were all from the same background, ethnic, social, anything. It doesn't say that they all had the same personality. That's not what it says, but what it does say is that they were all together

in one place. Why? Because before the fire of God fell, the people of God had to be unified. And when the church becomes unified, heaven responds. It does not respond when there is division. It does not respond when there are people with their own agendas. This is exactly what Jesus prayed in the Gospel of John 17, verse 21, where he says, Father, may they all be one. May they all be one, but sadly today, the church has often divided itself. Denominations divide, but the Spirit unifies. See, doctrines divide, but the Spirit unifies. Racial issues divide, but the Spirit unifies. Come on, church. There is no white church. There is no black church. There is no brown church. There is only a blood-bought, Jesus Christ Spirit-filled church. The Holy Spirit didn't come to make a church comfortable. It came to make a church powerful so it could go and it could reach the nations

with an unadulterated Gospel that is filled with the Spirit and the fire of God so that lost people could be saved. Not so saved people could be comfortable. There is not, and I wonder if I got a body of believers at Reach KC that would say, I'm not gonna let petty differences divide the body here. I'm gonna stand and I'm gonna unify the body. I'm shutting gossip down. I'm shutting slander down. I'm shutting prejudice down. I'm shutting racism down. I'm shutting anything that is not of the Spirit down because I can't deal with no petty differences. I need a Spirit-filled, Bible-believing, Holy Spirit-fired church. Y'all gonna have me speaking in tongues by the end of this one. Yeah. Tighten them up. See, I need some people that's gonna say, y'all ain't gonna talk about my people like that around me. Y'all ain't gonna talk about my kin, folks, like that around me. Y'all ain't gonna talk about my leadership like that around me. See, Paul said in Ephesians 4, there is one body, there is one Spirit,

there is one Lord, there is one faith, one baptism. And watch this, when the right people were present, the people were unified, the power of God fell. And Acts 2 says, suddenly, everybody say suddenly. I wonder if there's anybody in here that would suddenly allow the Holy Spirit to do something in their life that would suddenly begin to shift an atmosphere that would suddenly, I almost named this sermon, the subtle shifts, the sudden shifts of the Spirit. Cause when the Spirit shows up, you ain't got no chance in heaven. See, y'all thought I was gonna say something else. Nope. Acts 2 says, suddenly, there came a sound from heaven. Oh, right there, Dale, would be a good swell moment. Suddenly, there came a mighty rushing wind. And the fire fell where unity was because heaven doesn't just look for a building, heaven looks for a people who are together. And when the church stops fighting each other and starts standing together, the Holy Spirit is released to move how he wants to do. Why? Because the fire of Pentecost didn't fall on a perfect people, it fell on a unified people. Because when the right people are present and they're all together in one place, God sends the power of heaven down. But the right people got to be there. From what I read, it was all believers. I'm not going to get ahead of myself because there's another point I need to capitalize on that moment. The second condition. So the first condition is the right people were present. The second condition, the right power was released. Here's where it gets good. See, I'm glad I shaved because now I can do this stuff with my head.

Now I don't have to worry about messing up the little bit of hair I had. Acts 2, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And then they appeared to them divided tongues as a fire, and one sat upon each of them. Some passages say, and one rested on each of them. See, it's what's interesting. I want to pull this passage apart real quick because there's three symbols in this passage that I want to capitalize on that appear. And one of them is wind, one of them is fire, and one of them is resting. I feel like Captain America is about to show up in this place or whatever that was, you know. What was it anyways? Captain Planet. That's it. I knew it was Captain something. Captain Planet, wind, fire, water, you know what I'm saying? Anyways, I am showing my age because of my hair, my stuff, yes. But multiple places, wind, fire, resting, multiple places in the Bible reference wind in correspondence to the Spirit of God. It's actually called the Ruha. It's the breath of God, and it is the wind that has moved. Lots of scriptures or lots of scholars refer to this passage of scripture according to Ezekiel 37. This is a little bit lengthy passage, but in order to capitalize on this moment and make sense of the wind that it is talking about in Acts 2, I want to go over to Ezekiel 37 and talk for just a moment because this is what he says. He said, the Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones. And he led me all around among the bones and covered the valley floor, that covered the valley floor, and they were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. Then he asked me, son of man, can these bones become living people again? He said, oh sovereign Lord, you alone know the answer to that. Then he said to me, speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord. This is what the sovereign Lord says. Look, I am putting, I am going to put ruha into you and you will breathe or and you will live again and I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin and I will put ruha into you and you will come to life and then you will know that I am the Lord God because I take dead things and bring them back to life. I do things in lives that nobody else could do and so I speak a message just as he told me. Suddenly, I tried to tell you, I almost renamed this message, the sudden shifts of the spirit. Suddenly as I spoke there was a rattling noise all across the valley and the bones of each body began to come together and attach themselves as complete skeletons. Then as I watched the muscles and flesh formed over the bones and the skin

formed to cover their bodies but they had no Ruha in them then he said to me speak a prophetic message to the winds son of man speak a prophetic message and say this is what the law sovereign Lord says come Oh Ruha from the four winds which is also known as Ruha breathe into these dead bodies why so that the bodies may live again so I come so I spoke a message as he commanded me and breathe and breath came into their bodies then they all came to life and stood up on their feet a great army come on when wind meets fire the power of God is released and lives are changed I'm declaring the wind of the Lord meet with every single one of us today and raise up an army of dry bones in this place some people that have felt no life no purpose within them but all the sudden the Ruha of God begins to speak life into your body and you are filled with something that you didn't even know but it suddenly came upon you and now all of the sudden thanks begin to shift in your life now all the sudden you become a better husband now all the sudden you become a better wife a better child a better father a better man of God because the Ruha suddenly shifted something may an army of spirit-filled believers begin to catch a move of the Holy Spirit in their lives one where we begin to understand the call of God on our life one where we begin to see compromises begin to dwindle in the name of Jesus one where the fire stays lit and never goes out because the conditions of my heart find proper placement for fire to begin to take place so that something can ignite I wonder if I got anybody who would respond to the call of God on their life today where the walls have been built up can be shaken and the mighty wind of Ruha of God could begin to break them down because anywhere wind is represented circumstance shifted in the Spirit of God because that is just what happens when God shows up God didn't bring himself to just allow situations to remain the same God brought himself so that situations could shift I better be careful I'm a cuss right there on accident the second symbol we see is fire see fire represents God's presence and purification wherever God's fire appears things change the burning bush Moses his life direction changed

Ezekiel 3 2 says this there there the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush see Moses was a shepherd hiding in the desert after the fire Moses becomes the deliverer of Israel his calling was revealed from that moment when Moses saw the fire of God a shepherd became a deliverer look at Mount Sinai right a nation receives a covenant Exodus 19 18 all of Mount Sinai was covered with smoke because the Lord had descended on it in the form of fire see before the fire Israel was a group of former slaves come on somebody but after the fire they became God's covenant nation when the fire of God fell on Sinai slaves became people they became free they had freedom you can look at Elijah on Mount Carmel a nation turns back to God in first Kings 1838 it says then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice see before the fire Israel was divided between two different gods you had the God of Baal and and Yahweh and after the fire the people cried out the Lord he is God there is only one God because we tried everything and all of the sudden everything why because when the fire fell confusion turned into conviction and when the fire of God fell on the church in Acts 2 it turned ordinary men into worship world changers. It took ordinary men that became the disciples of Jesus and turned them into pastors, turned them into prophets, turned them into people that could now all of a sudden begin to walk with the power of the Spirit. See it gave them the power they needed to go into the world. And the third symbol that we see is the resting. Resting, this is huge because in the Old Testament we see fire rested on places. In the New Testament we see the fire rested on people. And the presence of God moved from buildings to believers. See in the Old Testament God filled temples. In the New Testament God fills his people. You don't just go to the presence anymore, you carry the presence. See the Spirit doesn't just visit them, he fills them. And in Acts chapter 2 the Bible says that when the day of Pentecost had fully come they were all together in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven like a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And tongues of fire rested on each of

them and they were filled with the Holy Spirit. Now watch this, the moment wasn't just about their experience, it was about what would come after them. Because when the Holy Spirit fills a life he doesn't just change a moment, he shifts a legacy. When the Spirit of God shows up he doesn't just change that moment, he changed your legacy. See when you receive the Holy Spirit with power which is different than salvation, well how can you say that? Because there was a hundred and twenty believers. It's what the Bible said. It said there was a hundred and twenty believers that was meeting in a room and it doesn't say that it was just there. It doesn't just burn for one generation, the fire spreads and that same Spirit that filled that upper room is the same Spirit that can begin to break addictions in your life, that can heal broken homes, that can restore fathers back to what they were supposed to be, and it can rewrite entire family histories, and it can begin to change things when you got a people that are Spirit-filled that said I'm gonna let the buck stop with me, it's not gonna go beyond me, I'm gonna stop it because I'm gonna let the power of God come in and fill my life. Which means this, that when the places God pulled you out of your children won't have to ever live there, amen? They're gonna hear about it, they're gonna hear about it in your testimony, but they ain't gonna have to walk in it because they're gonna walk in your anointing, they ain't gonna walk in the curses because when the Spirit of God changes a life he doesn't just change a person, he changes a bloodline, and when the bloodline is shifted all of the sudden the DNA of Jesus Christ is flowing through your body so good that if a mosquito bites you it's gonna fly off singing there is power in the blood of Jesus. If I didn't have my voice so raspy right now I'd sing there is power. That'd been a moment for a swell and a team. There is power! How many are ready for the third condition? Not all built on this moment. The right people were empowered. Because see, when the condition falls on the wrong people the Spirit of God gets manipulated, but when it falls on the right people there's an empowerment that happens that shifts generations, that shifts lives, that shifts complete atmospheres when the Spirit of God shows

up on the right people. See Acts 2 verses 4 through 5 it says all of them, not some of them, all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. Spirit and begin to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now notice, not just the apostles, not just the twelve disciples, not just the leaders in the church, but all of them. Which tells us something, that Holy Spirit baptism is for all believers. Not for the unbeliever, but for all believers. See there's a passage of scripture that could be misconstrued, because it sounds like it is for the unbeliever, but if you go and do some research on it, and you actually look at what it means and what it is saying in context, Paul actually continues to go on and say that prophecy is better. Why? Because the unbeliever can understand it. So when the Spirit of God comes on and it fills all the believers, it shows that it is a subsequent act that comes after salvation and is intended to empower his people. See 120 ordinary people became the launch team of a worldwide changing church. I don't know about you, but that's what I kind of am interested in. See the Holy Spirit empowers ordinary people for extraordinary purposes. That sounds familiar, don't it? You would have thought that was intended to go there. See here's what I do know, is the Spirit's power isn't for hype, it's for mission. It isn't for hype, it's for mission, and sadly so many have gotten this confused and made it more about the hype. See people are manipulating the baptism of the Spirit to draw attention to themselves and a crowd, but the baptism wasn't intended for a room of unbelievers, it was intended to fill a room full of believers so they could fulfill the mission of God. Because when we use it for the mission, verse 5 shows us the result. People from every nation heard the gospel. See Pentecost was never about a moment, it was about the movement. You can look around this room, you see lights everywhere.

You see screens behind me, beside me, you see speakers all around, and guess what? All of this runs on electricity. But here's something interesting, electricity doesn't just choose special wires. It flows through ordinary wiring. Why? Because the power doesn't come from the wire. The power comes from the source. It's not about the wire baby, it's not about your life, it's about the source that can provide the power. It's exactly what happened in it because all of the sudden the wire is just the conduit. But when the power flows through it, suddenly, suddenly lights turn on, suddenly things begin to move, suddenly sound begins to shift the atmosphere, and that's exactly what happened in Acts chapter 2. See the disciples were ordinary wires. They were fishermen, they were tax collectors, they were regular people. But when the power of God, the power of the Holy Spirit flowed through them, guess what? The world lit up. It changed everything, it was the fire that changed everything, and the God is not looking for impressive people, he's looking for available people that his power can run through. The Spirit didn't make the disciples famous, he made their message powerful. It's more than what we think it is. See the same Spirit that filled them, guess what? Is still filling believers today. The church doesn't move forward because of talent. The church doesn't move forward because of programs or strategies, it moves forward because of the power from heaven. The church on the move is not empowered by personality, it's powered by the Spirit of God. See, before electricity was ever harnessed, factories relied on water wheels to produce power.

But when rivers stopped flowing because they drained water, they stopped flowing because they drained water. right up everything stopped and the church is the same way the church is the same way without the spirit we may still have buildings we may still have services we may still have programs but the movement stops but when the spirit flows everything moves see some of you need to hear this today because the enemy has been lying to you he has been telling you because of where you came from your children are destined to repeat it repeat it but I came to break that lie in the name of Jesus your children will not inherit your sins your children will inherit your blessing your children will not inherit your mistakes your children will carry your mantle the addiction stopped with you the generational curses stopped with you the brokenness stops with you because when delivered you he didn't just delivered you he changed the trajectory of your entire bloodline and places that God pulled you out of your children will only hear about in your testimony they won't have to live in it they won't be bound by it they won't repeat it because what God broke off of you will never be rebuilt around them but it takes a people that are willing to be submissive to the spirit and the people that are willing to live in unity live an empowered life and surround yourself with the right people see I care more about seeing the fruit of the spirit than just the gift of the spirit see I believe being filled with the spirit does give us a prayer language and it does give up gifts gifts of tongues with interpretation but I also believe that it empowers us to witness to a lost and dying world and I believe that it can burn up some things in our lives like it did on the altar of Elijah and here's what I do know you can't encounter the power of the Holy Spirit and still say the same so all these people running around talking in tongues but living a double life are not filled with the spirit they're filled with a spirit but it's not the Holy Spirit you've got a bunch of stuff going on in your life that is not holy in your life and I'm sorry but the Spirit of God cannot reside in the same place that all that other wickedness resides and believe that the

power is going to show up but it takes a people that are hungry it takes a people that would say God I'm just a vessel I need you to fill me I need you to use me and God you can have everything that I have because all I want is more of your spirit I don't need more of me I need more of you I'm like John I need more of you and less of me increase you and decrease me because I need more of what you've got to offer than what I have already offered you God I need your spirit to do something in my life if I got five people that believe that could I get you to give me a shout of amen if I could have everybody stand to their feet with me for just a moment I'm believing this I'm believing that the Spirit of God is getting ready to shift an atmosphere I'm believing that the Spirit of God is getting ready to do something like it's never done before and I believe this I believe that lives are getting ready to be changed that hearts are getting ready to be transformed and I'm believing this that lives that have never committed their life their self to the Spirit of God is getting ready to find a movement that they can join amen and so before anybody moves before anybody leaves if you are in this place and you've never given your life to Jesus maybe you've given your life to Jesus but you just haven't been walking in the fullness of what God has for your life could I if that's you and you just want to surrender your life to the Lord today and you say that is me I want to give my life to Jesus today I want more of this whatever you're talking about I want a relationship with God today if that's you can I just get you to slip up your hand real high hey don't worry about what other people are thinking around you don't worry about whatever hey can I have you come down here real quick okay if that's you if that's you could I have you just step out of your seat real quick come on we want to pray with you we want to pray with you come down right here with Travis and Michelle hey come down right over here we just want to come on come on come on come on come on come on come on come on come on let's take this moment let's utilize this moment let's make this a moment about the Lord not about us but about the Lord come on if you want the Spirit of God do
