Invite the Wind | Jabin Chavez | City Light Vegas
Everybody say my heart's open Speak to me Lord and speak to my friend in Jesus name Then he said to me speak a prophetic message to the wind son of man Now if you've been tracking with us over the last month God has already spoken to Ezekiel what to say there was a valley of dry bones the bones have come together Flesh came upon the bones skin came upon the flesh. There's there's this resurrection miracle happening But there's no life in the bodies yet And so God says you have structure, but you need spirit you have a body, but you need spirit So look what he says speak a prophetic message and say this is what the sovereign Lord says come O breath From the four winds breathe into these dead bodies So that they may live again So I spoke the message as he commanded me and breath came in to their bodies They all came to life and stood on their feet He said speak to the wind Speak to the wind and I want to talk from the subject today invite the wind Invite the wind invite the wind father I ask you now to anoint These moments that we have together I ask you Lord for a tailor made word for every person in the room. I ask you Lord to Strengthen your people speak to your people lift your people convict your people whatever whatever we need today I pray that You would give an on-time word to every person beyond my words and beyond my thoughts and beyond my notes Lord you promised Isaiah that you would give us a word in season That's what I'm praying for today a word in season. I'm praying Unashamedly Lord today for the wind of the Holy Spirit to blow through this church. I'm praying for revival in our church I'm praying Lord that as a church we would be hungry For the bread of life Thirsty for living water that we would be a people who desire the Lord who love the Lord And who want the Lord. I thank you for what you're doing in this church. Thank you for the testimonies. Thank you
For the life change. Thank you that you're just beginning And so do a work in our heart today. That's our prayer In Jesus name Jesus saying come on if that's your prayer say amen Let's give God one more praise today as we go to God's word Do me a favor elbow your neighbor tell them invite the wind come on tell them invite the wind invite the wind invite the wind Will you all help me preach a little bit today? Well, we have can we have a little bit of church? We're gonna go we're gonna go till 12 15 That is 44 minutes. Will you stay with me? 44 minutes? All right. All right Ezekiel has Been agreeing with God and agreeing with God's word and because of that the bodies have now come together we've learned this now over the last four weeks and Now they're structured. They the bodies have come together, but the body is not yet alive and so the structure needs spirit And I just want you to know that the structure of your life needs the spirit of God That if you're not careful, you can create religious structures that are good But there's no breath of God That you can end up going through the motions It's what Paul warned Timothy of and second Timothy chapter three that we would have a form of godliness. It looks right But there's no power He said they would have a form of godliness, but deny the power of the spirit And I think that can happen in our lives we we look the part and it's beautiful and it's great and it's got great form But we need the spirit it reminds me of adam in the garden as god formed adam created adam adam would have been a Beautiful specimen adam would have been an amazing man and he's laying there in the garden, but he's not yet alive So god has to breathe into his nostrils and breathe into him the breath of life I just want to tell you that I don't want to just look good I don't want a church that's just beautiful man. I'm grateful for this building man I'm grateful for this beautiful screens and these awesome speakers and this Wonderful lights and i'm grateful for the parking lots and i'm grateful that as people drive up they go by it's a beautiful building i'm grateful for all of that i'm grateful for the good sound and the good music and i'm grateful for the great kids checking And i'm grateful for the excellence and i'm grateful for all of it but friend if we only have structure And not the spirit
We're not actually a church Oh, but friend, this is more than the house of a people. This is more than the house of Christians. This is the house of God. This is a place where God should dwell, where the Spirit is moving and speaking and leading and guiding and convicting and healing and saving and delivering. Oh, can I get a witness on a Sunday morning, this ain't my house or your house? This is God's house. So I love the systems, but systems need spirit, structure, need spirit. Friend, we need the wind to blow in this church. We need the wind of God in our services, the life of God in our services, the flow of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is teaching His disciples. They're actually in the upper room, the upper room we're going to read about in John 20 and the upper room we're going to read about in Acts chapter 2. They're in this upper room, this gathering space, and they're having what's called the Last Supper, John 13 through 17. And during this Last Supper, Jesus is telling them, "Guys, I'm going to rise from the dead, but when I do, I'm leaving, I'm going to heaven, I'm going to ascend." And then He says this in verse 6, "And you're grieving because of what I've told you. You're grieving that I'm leaving, but it's actually best that I go away." Verse 7, "The best thing Jesus could do for you is leave you physically so He could send you the Holy Spirit, because if I don't go, the advocate won't come, but if I do go away, I will send them to you." The best thing Jesus could do for you, the best thing Jesus could do for those early disciples and the best thing that Jesus could do for the church is send the Holy Spirit. Because what God was in that moment in one place at one time, wherever Jesus was, God was on the earth, and He was limited to Galilee. Now the Holy Spirit is through 2.2 billion believers around the earth. The earth is being covered by the glory of God through the church of the Lord Jesus Christ,
teaching, teaching, ministering, and helping what Jesus was to the 12 disciples, the Holy Spirit now is to the church. And you have as much access to God by the Holy Spirit that the disciples had to Jesus. Amen. This is powerful. We need the Holy Spirit. But a lot of us come from maybe churches that don't understand this or haven't received this. Let me just say this about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God is not like a demon. He won't possess you, He won't oppress you, and He won't take you over. He must be invited. Catherine Coleman called him a perfect gentleman. He only goes into prepared places where he's invited. So why haven't I ever experienced the Holy Spirit? You were probably in a church that wasn't interested. Good morning. I'm going to preach so y'all get with me, I'm just going, I'm letting it, I'm letting, I'm going to cook, I'm cooking. All right, check this out. This is powerful. Acceptitude, the church's birth in the power of the Holy Spirit. It's birth and fire. It's birth and speaking in tongues. It's birth and prophecy. It's birth in every person in the room receiving the Holy Spirit. By the way, that included women. So now catch us, catch us, because I was just talking to an amazing woman out in the lobby about women and ministry. And I said, well, they were filled with the Spirit in Acts 2, and they prophesied in Acts
2. And if you could prophesy, you can preach. And if you could preach, you can lead. And I said, but I said, I'm giving away my sermon. Wait till you hear it. You're going to love it. And so I hope she's loving it right now. I guess we'll find out after service when I go talk to you again. Okay. Now, now catch us. They're all filled with the Spirit. And that's how the church was birthed. Twenty-four years later, you get to Acts 19 and Paul is doing what Christine Cain is going to do in two weeks. He's traveling and he's teaching at churches. He's going church to church and he's teaching the Bible. And he gets to a church in Acts 19 and he goes, hey, guys, did you, did y'all receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Their believers and their disciples. That's what the Bible says. And he goes, did you receive the Holy Spirit? Because there's something off here. We got structure. We got Bible study. We got songs. We got the music. We got the lights. We got the screens. We got the LED. I mean, every, you can't grow without an LED wall.
But where's the God touch? Where's the anointing of the Holy Spirit? Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Now, whole denominations have fought to say, yes, I did, because when I got saved, I was I guess not to Paul. See, you don't have to have right doctrine to be saved. Salvation is mercy and grace. Everybody's got some wonky doctrine in their life. And everyone's gonna get to heaven and go, "Oh, snap, I didn't realize." So you're saved by calling on the name of Jesus, not by having perfect doctrine. So they called upon, they understood the message of Christ, but they didn't understand the message of the Holy Spirit. Now, watch this, watch this. This is good. They go, "We didn't even know there was a Holy Spirit." Which is what a lot of people sound like in America today. It's like, "We didn't even, I know God, I know the Father, "I know Jesus." Let me remind you of the Trinity. The Trinity is not God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Scripture. It's God the Holy Spirit. And though it's third in tradition, as we say it, He's not third in importance, third in power, or third in deity. He is God Almighty, the Spirit of the living God. He's a person, not it.
He's like a dove, not a dove, like fire, not fire, like when, not when, like rain, not rain. He is a person named the Holy Spirit. Kenneth E. Hagin said that the world needs Jesus and the church needs the Holy Spirit. See, the reason so much of the world still needs Jesus is 'cause the church has rejected the Holy Spirit. Because if you don't have the power of the Holy Spirit, you'll never be empowered to be a witness and to change the world. And where the church is growing and where the church is advancing throughout Asia, throughout Africa and throughout South America, it is through churches like this that are filled with the Holy Spirit, that speak in tongues, that have embraced the gifts of the Spirit, that have empowered women in the ministry, this is where the church is growing. Where the church is dying in the West is where we've rejected the Spirit, we've rejected women in ministry. And we have big buildings that are empty. All over the West, all over Europe. Look at what's happening in France today. Look what's happening in Italy today. Look what, where the church was so strong, just a few generations ago, and they're losing it because when you reject the supernatural, the church has no power.
(congregation cheering) So let's start at the birthday of the church, Pentecost. Acts chapter two, verse one, on the day of Pentecost. That's why maybe you've heard of the phrase Pentecostal. I don't like labels. I don't know if I'm a Pentecostal or charismatic or a spirit filter. I don't know what I am, I'm a Christian. But when we say Pentecost, here's what we're saying. We're saying that what happened on this day, actually let's put it up, still happens today. That's all we're saying. They're in one place and one accord. Number one, this is for free, it's not part of your notes. You can be in the same place, but not in one accord. Come on, everybody, say amen. I didn't get anything. Well, yeah, you never open your mouth. It's like going to a restaurant and not eating and then going, I'm still hungry. Yeah, you didn't open your mouth. Come on, everybody lift up your hands. See, it's one thing to be in the right place, but you still have to come into one accord. The place of unity is the place of power. The place of agreement is the place of power. They're in a prayer meeting and they're in one accord. They've come into agreement for a move of God and suddenly there came a sound from heaven. As their prayer went up, heaven came down.
As the praises go up, the blessings fall down. Watch this, a sound from heaven as a mighty rushing wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting and it appeared on them, tongues of fire. Now, remember, this is 120 people, men and women, not 12 apostles, 120 people. As one old preacher said, there's a tongue for every believer, the Holy Spirit is for every believer. There's a fire for every believer, not just for the preacher. Sat on each of them, they were all filled, not some, all filled with the Holy Spirit. They all spoke in tongues, not some, all spoke in tongues. Jamie, do I have to speak in tongues? You don't have to do anything. I'm just glad you're here. But you can if you want to, 'cause they did. All right, as the Spirit gave them the utterance. Okay, now from Acts chapter two verse four through 16, revival starts breaking out, people start getting saved and people don't know what's going on. Which by the way, I think that's good. Every once in a while we ought to come into church and go, "What the heck is happening?" I think sometimes church is too scripted and too cute and too good. I think every once in a while we ought to go, what is going on? I'm not saying be weird to be weird. I'm not saying be wacky to be wacky.
I'm not saying that, but I am saying that Jesus said when the wind blows, John chapter three, you can't control the wind. All right, so people are going, what's going on? Are these people drunk? What is happening? This is all in your Bible, you can read it later. Peter says, here is what's happening. It's a fulfillment of the Book of Joel and the prophet. And he says, it shall come to pass in the last days that I will pour out my spirit on your flesh. See, when you got saved, the Holy Spirit filled your spirit and you're a temple of the Holy Spirit and you're sealed to the day of salvation. But how many know your flesh still needs some saving? (congregation murmurs) Anybody else, nobody else? All right, maybe you're perfect. I'm not driving through traffic. Somebody cuts you off and you go, whoo. I'm still being saved. Maybe there's no traffic and you just look up at one of our wonderful billboards of the half naked woman, you go, hi, and you forget you're married for a second. You, oh, okay, no, guys gonna say, okay. Every guy just looked at his wife, and he said, not me, babe, never. I've never, ever looked at, never. My flesh is still being saved.
I need the spirit of God on my flesh. I got told off today at Starbucks, it was awesome. I ordered my coffee, it was awesome. And I did good, halfway, I did halfway good. I ordered my coffee on the app and I guess I picked, you know, go inside and pick it up. But there was no one in the drive-through, so I said, sick, I'm gonna go through the drive-through. So I go through the drive-through. I go, hi, I'm a mobile order for James. And he goes, okay, I can pull up, so I pull up. And he goes to hand it to him and he goes, hey, just so you know, you chose to get it inside. And he held my coffee hostage. And I went, my bad, you know, as I'm written, he goes, yeah, so you know, you just gotta make sure you pick, and I'm like, it's six in the morning, brother. There's nobody here. But how many of you know my flesh is being saved? I said, oh, thank you so much. My bad, I'm so sorry, as I just wanted to just not be a Christian. But the Holy Spirit's coming upon my flesh. And I said, brother, I'm so sorry about that. And I took that coffee and I turned up the worship music. And I said, thank you, Jesus. I thank you that I'm a Christian. I think you're that I'm a pastor. I thank you, Lord, that I don't need to yell at anybody. I don't need to give anybody an ad. I don't need to tell anybody about culture
and how to make people feel welcome. I don't need to do any of that. It's six in the morning, amen, and I drove them. Now watch what happens when the spirit of God comes upon your flesh. It changes how you talk, it's our prophesying. You start getting dreams and visions. God starts giving you a picture of your future. So there is the Holy Spirit encounter at salvation and there's the Holy Spirit encounter after salvation. So here's what I want to tell you about the Holy Spirit. Number one, we're talking about invite the wind, invite the wind of his presence. And the spirit of God would be poured out on our flesh tangibly, experientially and physically. You can, now listen to me, you can experience God. I don't live by experience. I don't live by feelings. I don't live by emotions. And at the same time, God is real and God can be experienced, not just known by faith and not just by mental ascent, but actually experiencing God. In the book of Acts, people had unique encounters with the Holy Spirit. And here's what happened. All by the way, after salvation, after they believed these things happened. So there are already temples of the Holy Spirit, first Corinthians six, but now something new is happening. People were baptized with the Spirit,
filled with the Spirit. The Spirit fell on people, came upon people, rested upon people, people received the Spirit and people received the outpouring of the Spirit. The Spirit was poured out on people. Seven different descriptions for the same experience. Why? 'Cause we're all different. We would all say it different. If you grew up in Pentecost, you might say it one way. And if you grew up a Baptist, you might say it another way. And if you've never been to church in your life, you might call it vibes. You know, you're like, there's a vibe, bro. It's like, yeah, you don't know what to say exactly. Like, there's an energy, you know? When we came up to me last week, I was like, you got an aura. I was like, whoa, that's weird. (congregation laughing) So let's pray, you know. That was just her way. That was her way of going, I feel something here. I'm new to this. There's an energy man. It's like, okay, bro, easy. They were describing their experience, but it's the same experience. So in John 20, this is resurrection afternoon, not resurrection morning, resurrection afternoon. The disciples are hiding,
'cause they don't know Jesus has been raised from the dead yet. Jesus comes into the upper room. He shows him his hands and his feet and his wounds. And Thomas bows before him and says, "My Lord and my God." That is their post-resurrection salvation moment. That's the moment they go, whoa, you got up. Jesus breathes on them and says, "Receive the Holy Spirit." And that's exactly what happens to you when you get saved. You receive the Holy Spirit. until you receive the Holy Spirit. Well, wait a minute. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. If you're a good denominational Christian in America, you rebuke Jesus and go, actually Jesus, I already received the Holy Spirit when you breathed on me in John 20. Hey. This is different. Acts, chapter two, they receive the Spirit. By the way, Acts, chapter four, they receive the Spirit again. By the way, Acts, chapter 10, they receive the Spirit again. Yeah. Because as Reinhard Bonke said, the greatest soul winner, he was Nigeria's Billy Graham. Reinhard Bonke said, they had to keep receiving the Spirit because we leak.
'Cause you need a fresh touch of God. 'Cause you've gone through trials or temptations or frustrations, you get in the flesh and you need a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit. You need God today, not just yesterday, not just one encounter in the 70s, not just one moment in the 80s, but every day you need, the Bible said that the manna would go bad every day because every day, come on, we need fresh manna and fresh bread from heaven. Every day I need God. I can't live on last year's move of God. Come on, I need a move of God today. I can't live on last year's worship. I need a worship today. I can't live on last year's fire. I need fire today. Am I preaching to anybody? Come on. (congregation applauding) I need God today. (congregation applauding) Don't get drunk with wine. Look at this. With where in, this is just clunky King James, but it's so powerful what he's saying. With where in is excess. Drunkenness always leads to excess. Always.
You don't start on meth. Hello? Why y'all just staring at me today? (congregation laughing) You don't start on cocaine. You don't start on fentanyl. But when the wine is not enough, and then the liquor's not enough, and then the weed is not enough, and then when the liquor and the weed and the pills aren't enough, and then the micro dose isn't enough, and then the DMT isn't enough, and then the cocaine isn't enough, and then the heroin isn't, and not enough, and not enough, 'cause it always leads to excess. Don't judge me for doing all these drugs. (congregation laughing) By the way, don't get drunk on sex. It'll never be enough. Don't get drunk on money. You'll never have enough. Don't get drunk on status and power. You'll never have enough. Don't get drunk on Instagram followers or approval. It'll never be enough. Any time, say, man, everybody. (congregation cheering) Any time you get a knee-breathed on the world,
it'll never be enough, and you'll always need more. But Paul doesn't end there. He then says, here's what you really want. Here's what you're really craving. You need the Holy Spirit. (congregation cheering) Now you're trying to find peace, a high numbness, status, power, love, affirmation. You're trying to find all that in the natural, it'll never be enough. And what you really, all of that is a cheap counterfeit for the real thing, 'cause the devil can't create, he can only imitate. So what you're really craving is the Holy Spirit. What you're really craving is a relationship with God. What you're really craving is the Spirit of God. And that word there, just for my Bible nerds, but be filled is to, but be being filled. How many know you don't eat once and you're full forever? I don't care how much of an epic you put in your body, you still gotta eat again, come on somebody. (congregation laughing) If you've ever drank a glass of water, it doesn't mean that you'll never thirst to get, you're gonna need more water. If you've ever been drunk once, it doesn't mean you're drunk forever. In the same way, I've been filled with the Spirit, but Paul is saying, but you need to be dependent on, but be being filled with the Holy Spirit,
an encounter with God, a touch of God, an experience with God. John the Baptist is baptizing people in the Jordan River, in Matthew chapter three and he says, but there is one coming after me. And here's what he will do. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit in fire. Last night we baptized 70 people, it was beautiful. Now watch what happened, watch what happened. A disciple held another disciple. And he immersed them into water. Wonderful, beautiful. A disciple can do that. But see, I can't baptize you with the Holy Spirit. He will baptize you. and immerse you into the Holy Spirit. You can experience God. Invite the wind of His presence into your life. Number two, invite the wind of His possibility. He said, when the Spirit is poured out, you'll prophesy, you'll change how you talk, and you'll have dreams and visions, change how you think, and it'll change how you imagine. This is powerful, by the way. It said that in Acts 2, 17, this is for young men and old men. Jabin, am I to put it up real quick, just people know I'm telling the truth. This is, if you're thinking to yourself, am I too old to go to this church?
No, you're not, 'cause it's for old men. And old women, hallelujah. And it's for young men and young women. It's for young and old. It's for everybody. When you really have a spirit filled church, you'll have every generation. I'm so proud of a couple. They come to the Saturday night, and I met with them last week. They're in their 70s, and we were meeting this past week. And they met with me, and they said pastor, we just wanna tell you. And tears begin to fall down her face. And she goes, we just love the young people. We just love to see the young people worshiping. We just can't believe somebody, young people are coming to church, not even know what young is to her. I didn't ask. But you know what, I was so proud of them for not going, you know what, we're too old for this church, and it's really loud, and you know, you make a lot of cultural statements, and we don't understand, and we wish you'd wear a suit, and no, no. - I'm so proud of them for being able to go, no, we know our place. We're here to encourage, and we're here to pray, and we're here to stir up, and we're here to teach,
and we're here to be spiritual fathers and mothers to a new generation coming up, and we need every generation. And I need the 15-year-old in the room, and I need the 80-year-old in the room, because the Holy Spirit's for every generation. And what happens is, when the Spirit of God comes upon you, you start having dreams and visions. A dream, a vision, what could be, what should be. A dream, a faith picture of your future. Dreams and visions are the language of the Holy Spirit. See, more than God giving you like words, He's usually gonna give you a picture of what could be and what should be. Goes beyond the natural, beyond the now, and it goes into your future. It's what happened to Abraham, when Abraham and Sarah couldn't have babies, and God took Abraham outside into the night sky, and He said, "Start counting the stars." That's how many descendants you're gonna have. He started giving him a picture of his future. Started giving him an idea. Now, it doesn't matter what I'm going through. Now, I can start living from vision instead of appetite. This is huge, this is huge, watch me. When you reject the work of the Holy Spirit in your life, you become more natural, what Paul called carnal. What I would even submit would be animalistic,
because you live by sight alone, and you live by craving alone, and you live by desire alone, you live by lust alone, and you sleep with whatever's in front of you, and you eat whatever's in front of you, and you say whatever is in your mind, because you have no Spirit of God in you to help control you, so you just go crazy. But when you have the Holy Spirit, now you don't live by sight, or by natural, or by cravings, but you now live by vision and by hope, and now you no longer make decisions based off of what you feel today. You make decisions based off of where you're going tomorrow. (audience applauding) - Come on, come on, let's go. - Say, man, this is powerful. How can you stay pure in Vegas? You're gonna need a vision. How do you stay holy in Vegas? You're gonna need a vision. How do you date in Vegas, and not just sleep with people that you're gonna need a vision? How do you honor your marriage covenant? You're gonna need a vision. You're gonna have to have a picture of what God can do and what God is doing, and where God is taking you so that you make the best decision today. There's a lot of decisions I make today,
not for today, but for tomorrow. Vision does that. Look what the promise of the Holy Spirit is in Acts chapter two verse 39. This promise is for you and your children. This isn't about you having kids. It's not even about that. It's about, it's for you and your future, you and tomorrow, you, the Holy Spirit is always linking you to where you're going. Awesome. Awesome. Somebody said I'm cooking. I am. This is helpful. This is what the Holy Spirit does. Lastly, and I'm gonna have the team coming out. I just want everybody to stay. We're gonna go 17 more minutes. Not lastly, I'm gonna show you this first Corinthians chapter two, and then we'll get to the last point. First Corinthians chapter two verse nine. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. Okay, most of us stop at verse nine, and we just go, wow, you know? No mind is imagined, wow, wow, God's big and God has big things and we stop, but there's actually, there's a verse 10.
But it was to us that God revealed those things, watch us buy His Spirit. In other words, when you receive the Holy Spirit, you now get to see what eyes cannot see and you get to hear what ears cannot hear and you get to know what your heart cannot imagine. You go beyond the natural. The Spirit of God makes the impossible possible and now you begin to live from a different place. It's absolutely unfair to be a Christian 'cause He shows you the deep secrets. He starts speaking to you about your life and about what could be and what should be and where you're going and things become very clear by the Holy Spirit. You don't know it by your eyes, you don't know by your ears, you don't know by your heart, you know it by the Holy Spirit. There's all the way I know how to say it, you know it in your knower. You know, Jesus said, out of your belly would flow living water, what in the world? You know what, that is a weird scripture until you've experienced it 'cause I go, uh-huh, yup, 100%. No one's preaching on bellies usually on a Sunday morning, but I'm coming to preach on the belly real quick. Out of your belly flows living water, like from your spirit, you just know. You know who to marry, you know what to do, you know what job to take, you know where to,
you know when to buy a house, you know when to sell it, you just know and you know it, right? You don't know it here. Not out of your mind flows living water, out of your, but you just in your spirit, you just know things. I know this sounds kooky and wooky and spooky. This is real. You just know. Thirdly invite the wind of his power and you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. Now again, I want you to look at Acts 1 8. Jesus is talking to men. Please put it up, Acts 1 8. He's talking to men who have already John 20 received the Holy Spirit. Are we tracking? I'm not telling you you don't have the Holy Spirit. I'm telling you there's more. I'm telling you there's power available. Well, do I, do I need Acts 1 8 to go to heaven? Friend, I need Acts 1 8 to go to Target. I need Acts 1 8 to go to Nordstrom Rack. I need Acts 1 8 to leave my house. I need Acts 1 8 to be a husband and a man of God and a father. I need, I need power to do what my flesh cannot do, but God will give me the power to do what I cannot do. And this is after salvation.
Say, man, that's come upon you. And then you'll be my witnesses. Now think about that scripture and think about Peter. Peter was such a mess in the gospels. Just read, read about Peter in the gospel. Oh my gosh, what a mess. He cussed, he cursed, he denied the Lord. Here's a bit compliment. Jesus called him Satan. Like that's a bad day. That's a bad day. You've been rolling with this guy for three and a half years. And he said, you know what, actually you're the devil. He tried to kill somebody, attempted murder. You know, he didn't try to cut his ear off. It was just a bad aim. Peter was a mess. Peter would deny the Lord Jesus to a little girl three times. And with him 40 days, 50 days, excuse me. He would be preaching to thousands of people, and now leading 3,000 people to Christ in one sermon. How do you go from denying the Lord to a teenager to preaching the gospel? That's the Holy Spirit. And I've just come to say, you need the Holy Spirit. You need the power of the Holy Spirit. That word power right there is the Greek word dunamis. It means God's miracle working power. It's God's ability to do what you cannot do.
It's God's ability to accomplish what you cannot accomplish. Man, you love God on Sunday at 11 a.m., but by Monday you're going, man, what happened? Man, Jabin, I'm trying to serve God, but by Wednesday, I feel like, man, I'm losing. Man, Jabin, I'm really devoted to God on a Sunday, but man, by Thursday, I don't know what's going on. Listen, man, Jabin, Christianity is hard. Christianity is not hard. It's impossible. Love your neighbor, as you love yourself, impossible. Love your enemies, impossible. Turn the other cheek, impossible. Be generous, impossible. Live a life of service, impossible. Love your wife like Christ loves the church, impossible. Honor your husband, submit your impossible in this culture. You need God. God will not give you a life where he is unnecessary. So he's actually created the Christian life to make you fully depend on the spirit of God. Yo, with me? Come on, I need the spirit of God. I can't do this without God, don't want to do it without God. What do you try to do it without God? Don't like my life without God. I love God, need God, want God. And when I receive the Holy Spirit, he makes impossible things possible. Please stand and please don't leave, but please stand.
So it's not by might, and it's not by power, but it's by my spirit, this is the Lord Almighty, what's that? So you might be very mighty, but it's not by might. You might be very powerful, but it's not by power. You might be very talented, but it's not by talent. You might be very gifted, but it's not by gift. You might be really good-looking, but it's not by being, you might come from the right family, but it's not the right family. You might have been born on the right side of the tracks, but it ain't about where you were, it's by the life that God has for you, it's only by the spirit. By the way, this is really good news, 'cause if you feel like you don't have any might and you don't have any power, you don't have any talent, you don't have any gift, and you don't look good, and you come from the wrong family, and you don't have the education, and you meet a lot of them and say, I got good news for you, it ain't about any of that anyway. It's about your reliance on the Holy Spirit. You're looking at a man with a GED, you're looking at a man from Belen, New Mexico, from a trailer park of 1700 people, but you're looking at a man that said, God, if you could use anybody, use me. God, if you could call anybody, call me. God, if you could let anybody preach, I'll preach,
I'll go, I'll do whatever you tell me to do, and God has the way of lifting people that are dependent upon the Holy Spirit. (dramatic music) - Let me go, J.V., and I love this church, but man, when you talk about the Holy Spirit, (inhales deeply) we love the kids ministry, we love the worship, we love the preaching, we love the teams, we love the lobby, we love all that. We love the book, we love the merch, we love it all, but J.V., start talking about the Holy Spirit, I don't know. Let me tell you why you love the music. Let me tell you why you love the preaching. Let me tell you why you love your kids love kids ministry. Let me tell you why you love this ministry. It's not my gift. It's not that we're good in church. It's not just that we have some talent. It's that when you walk in here, you go, man, I feel the presence of the Lord. Man, I sensed a touch from God. Wow, I don't really know how to explain it. I don't always agree with the preacher, but there seems to be something there. That is not an aura, that is not a vibe, that is not a feeling, that is the person of the Holy Spirit. He's real, he loves you.
And I'm asking you to invite the wind. So if I could quickly take you to science class before we end, here's how wind blows. Warm air and warm pressure from the earth goes up. And on the day of Pentecost, they were praying in one place, in one accord. And then cool air and cool pressure comes down from heaven. Somewhere between the air and the breath of earth and the breath of heaven, somewhere in the middle, wind begins to blow. We can create our own windstorm in our own life by inviting the wind with our prayer and with our praise and with our worship. And as our breath goes up, his breath comes down and somewhere in the middle, the winds of revival begin to blow in our life. [APPLAUSE] After three and a half years of trout, hear me after three and a half years of drought, Elijah prays and his breath goes up one time, two times, three times, four times, five times, six times. Seven times he Elijah prays. And on the seventh time, 1st Kings, chapter 18 says, and all of a sudden there was black clouds and a heavy wind. The wind of God meant the wind of man. The power of the Holy Spirit meant the prayers of a man of God. And the wind began to blow. And a terrific rainstorm came, and the famine was broken, and the drought was broken.
The Bible said in Psalm 104 that God writes in on the wings of the wind. (gentle music) "As the praise is gone, the blessings come down." And they didn't even know they had theology for this. They didn't even know they had science for this, but somehow as our worship goes up, the wind of the Spirit begins to blow in our life. And I just want to ask every person, would you lift your hands and would you invite the presence of the Lord with your praise and with your worship? The Bible says, "Let everything that has spread." Let everything that has spread. Let everything that has life praise the Lord. Come on, every voice in this room, let's lift up our voice. It's your breath.
