Inmate Goes back to Prison to Share His Story | Pastor Donk

Praise God man what we doing out here right now. So listen man for some that don't know I am Dr. Dunk. I'm evidence that what God can do in the person life right here in Angola. So real quick before we do anything I need your undivided attention. If you're walking I need you to stop. If you're talking I need you to listen. Why is this so important? No because listen to me. I was once one of you. I was in the same cell with some of y'all. Some of y'all I used to be bed partners with. Box, not bed partners, box partners. Don't act like I don't know where I'm at right now. Listen man can we just make some noise for Jesus one time. No listen I see it. I could have seen if you would have said make some noise for Dunk but we done put too much. You done been through too much to sit on the glory of God. Give God some glory in this place right now. So listen y'all I just got a few minutes to tell you a story and all I want you to do is afterwards to respond. I'm one of those speakers if you ever been around me it's two things that I'm staying on. One is relationship. This is why if any of you done got a handshake or dab or I see you since I've been here I need for you to stand up. Don't wait on it, stand up right now. I need for you to stand, don't clap, don't clap, shh, shh, don't clap, stand up. I want y'all to look around. Every one of you I did that on purpose and the reason why I did that on purpose because what that does is it denotes relationship. As a communicator I understand the power of being able to make relationship to introduce you to a relationship. And the reason why I'm saying that because the second thing is respect. Listen to me we didn't come way down here just for you to be talking doing worshiping whenever the Word of God come from. Why? Because you may miss while you're here. And so I wonder like how did I get here? How did I get on this stage? Some of y'all I'm handshaking y'all and I remember how it used to be when I was in here and I remember the ride coming here. Listen to me for some that don't know I was sentenced to life plus 90 years in this prison, this same prison. And I can recall the day that I left Hunt, they put us on the bus and I went down that road and we made that magical left, you know the magical left to where the only road leads to one place flash, you know. And I can recall

being chained to a dude and I had the window seat and I had my head on the window and as I'm riding down this long street I'm reminded about all the stories that I heard about Angola so I'm feeling in my heart that you know what I'm headed to a point of no return. And as my head stayed on the window I'm like I done messed up now. And I'm questioning God, I'm questioning life, I'm questioning everything. There's a fear of butterflies in my stomach because I did not know what I was facing. Anybody when you came to prison you had butterflies and talk to me. Some of y'all I know you still got them butterfly. So and something happened I had my head on the window and they had this pretty butterfly flew in the window in the bus and landed right before my face and when he landed at my face it caused me to jump up. But the butterfly stayed on the window and when he stayed on the window something was very unique about him he was purple pink and he had a hint of smoky gray. And I'm saying to myself like all the places in the world why wouldn't the world with this this butterfly be locked in a prison bus he must not know where he's going. And me I'm having a conversation nobody on this bus noticed that I'm having a conversation with a butterfly. And then the bus stopped and when the bus stopped it was crazy because the butterfly just flew off and I ended up coming in the prison. And while I was in here at 15 years old it's all about a process I would always think about that butterfly. And I remember being in the dungeon I thought about him so hard to where then I begin to think about the process of what it took for that butterfly to become that beautiful. And I begin to think about myself at the time. Caterpillar! Meaning that I'm living low and that's how some of you saw me Some of you saw me at my lowest stage and this is why I like to come to Angola because you cannot deny the fruit This is why I like to come back home To Louisiana because y'all watching my life. It's like Saul. It's like Paul coming back to his old neighborhood as Saul But with evidence that Jesus is real Listen sometimes a miracle

Gotta see another miracle to be reminded that God is still a miracle worker And I remember doing all kind of crazy things in my caterpillar stage with some of you that's in here right now And as I look back cuz I'm thinking about how in the world did I get here? And I remember running the yard getting drugs doing all kind of stuff And then one day I went to the dungeon because I failed a drug test And when I was in the dungeon, they had an ollie come to me. His name was Jeffrey Walker And he was like, you know his name now. He was like, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, man, like like son If you ever gonna get out of here he like man you you got to stop that behavior that you're doing and It stuck with me because what he didn't know is that I just read this scripture that I want to leave with y'all 2nd Corinthians 5 and 17 2nd Corinthians 5 and 17 2nd Corinthians 5 and 17. It says therefore if anyone is in Christ He is made anew And I'm like, you know what like like like what he told me I have to understand that I got a move from this place of a caterpillar stage That mean my behavior can't be low See myself where I wanted to be myself and so I begin to sit in a dungeon and as I'm sitting in a dungeon I begin to look at that mirror, you know that mirror to where you look like you're looking at you But you're really not looking at you So I'm the only one ever looked in that mirror What's up with y'all up there y'all y'all with me what we doing And so I begin to see myself listen to me y'all From the caterpillar stage of me living low doing low thinking low. I begin to see something different. I saw what he saw And then transition begin to happen I begin to go in my cocoon stage if you don't know the process of a caterpillar becoming a Beautiful butterfly in the cocoon stage you never see what's been happening because they're poured out like liquid and So in this prison, I begin to see what I wanted to be and did not know it And so my behavior changed and all I was thinking about was that scripture that's saying this is why you gotta hold on

To what the Word of God say about your situation. I begin to see myself new Even though some of y'all was still man Duncan you acting different I begin to see myself new even some of y'all was saying man. Don't don't be getting in trouble no more I begin to see anybody remember my transition. Come on. I need to see And I begin to see listen. I begin to see myself and That's where some of you are right now You're being made new in Christ You're in your cocoon stage. This is why you cannot die in your becoming stage I don't know who need to hear this right now, but you're supposed to be in here right now Everything's supposed to happen like it did right now. It's not no coincidence that you are here right now And you may be saying like we're done how I know you telling the truth. Listen, bro I was sentenced to life plus 90 years on a couple bodies y'all saw me and I gave Christ a chance and I'm free I Know if I was you and I was on the other side of me saying that I'll be going crazy because I got a new Opportunity now to experience the same thing. I said I was in Angola charged with murder I surrendered my life to Christ and he freed me Why am I sharing it because when I was in my cocoon stage, it's when I realized what this scripture was saying Those with Christ I'm not knocking nobody else. I ain't no no no those with Christ is Made new Those who live all the old things are gone And now I begin to operate from this place that now I expect newness I come out the dungeon and when I come out the dungeon I begin to cuz I'm just talking not just talk just talk with Y'all we all right Y'all with me And I begin to walk that prison yard over there walled in that phone, this is how I say I'm one of y'all This is what it looked like. The only thing I did was I got out here I ran in that free world and I came back with the cure

I'm coming back with the curse. Don't clap I'm coming back with the cure to my people. I got out. I'm coming back in with the cure I'm saying like hey, I found it. I found it. I found it. It's Christ It's Christ And I begin to walk the yard in my cocoon stage Because in my cocoon stage, I'm trying to become something that I never saw before but I know what them principles say and life and death is in the power of the Life and death is in the power of the tongue. So I begin to walk the I begin to walk the yard This is why I love to speak to y'all because I'm giving you principles that you can take away It ain't like I'm going home by the way, I love y'all but I ain't gonna lie. I'm going home No, you can laugh right there And I begin to walk that yard and Beckham I begin to use the principles that the Word of God say Life and death Proverbs 18 and 20 life and death is in the power of the tongue those who indulge in it Shall eat the fruit of it. It is the principle of what you speaking out of your mouth This is why you can't be telling all them lies don't sit on my bed see once I got this revelation No, you can't you can't have that that them fake lies. You know how you be acting like you was balling in that world So y'all don't know nobody in here that be lying Boy you know, you ain't dry no Cadillac Boy, you know, you ain't had no bag Now if they with you look straight just look straight So I begin to walk the yard y'all Same yard same premises serving the same God And as I walk that yard, I begin to speak to them airplanes Because I'm working the principle. I say one day I'm gonna be in Atlanta speaking one day Cuz I'm in my cocoon stage one day one day one day. I'm gonna be in the Bahamas speaking one day One day I'm gonna be in prisons all over the world one day One day I'm gonna get an opportunity to become what it is that I'm seeing in my cocoon stage

In that cocoon stage. I begin to practice speaking in front of people. Nobody know it I just had them earphones on some of y'all saw me y'all like man don't get lost his mind. He don't girl seen us up I wasn't And then the day came for some that don't know my name popped up in that newspaper Where it says to Baton Rouge teen sentence and convictions overturned Listen to me. I got out of here with no pay lawyer By the time I got the pay lawyer he didn't find none so I got out here with no pay lawyer I Got out of here with no money in that dungeon. I accepted Christ and the favor tracked me down I don't know who need to hear this right now But but if money could have got you out you would have been out who? Raise your if money could some of y'all line. I know somebody line I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt if money could have got you out of here right now raise your hand I just need to see Yeah, green shirt. Yeah, I ain't paying attention. What's going on if money could have got you out here raise your hand I just need to see where we at Listen to me I gave God a yes and Favor begin to track me down. I go back in front the same judge I'll go back in front the same judge And I speak this over some of y'all cases in some of y'all life Y'all better receive this if you came here you talking to somebody you round them all day every day Don't miss what we got what God got going on. Here's the reason why you here don't miss it Same judge same da same courtroom. The difference is now I'm walking here as a man of faith Knowing that if I go in here I have to expect God to do something amazing I went in that courtroom. They offered me 10 years credit for time And I got out of that prison, and I ended up coming from here, and I went home. This is the beauty of it right here, though. This is the conclusion of it. You guys saw me in the caterpillar stage to where I'm living beneath my means of who I am.

Some of you right now, I've watched you grow up in here, and some of you still in your caterpillar stage. I ain't got to talk to you. I can look at your thumb. So, I mean, now I can look at some of your thumbs burnt up. Why am I sharing this, though? That used to be me. Flash, it wasn't until I made the understanding and said, you know what? Enough is enough. I got out of prison, and I said, you know what? Whenever I get a chance to come back to Angola, I just want to stand before them as evidence, Flash, that if God can do it for Dunk, if y'all watch me go through the stages of being a caterpillar into my cocoon stage, and I came out living like a butterfly, traveling all over the world, y'all watching me, and I said, as I was preparing my clothes to come here, I said, babe, I need you to give me, I need a great shirt, I need great pants, because I want to be that butterfly that my brothers see. I don't know who needs to hear this in here right now, but you're not what you was charged with. You're not why he got you in here. God don't look at you as the charge. He look at you as freedom. If he could do it for Dunk, he could do it for you. But you got to be willing to say, like, you know what? Enough is enough. I'm sick and tired. Anybody like you sick and tired of being sick and tired, if that's not you, don't even raise your hand. Anybody you sick of prison, all together. You sick of doing wrong, all together. You sick of the drugs, all together.

You sick of the lies, all together. You sick of it. So God brought one of your own right before you, and if he could transform me from the inside out, you're going to have an opportunity to do the same. It's not how you start. It's how you finish. At the end of this, y'all, we're going to do baptisms as well. This is what I want you guys to do. I want you to think and listen to God. Listen to him. Listen to God. If God telling you to surrender your life and get in that water, some of you need a fresh start. I needed a fresh start. Somebody might be saying, like, well, Dunk, I've been baptized before. Well, you've been in jail before. A fresh start. If he could do it for me, he could do it for you. I love y'all. God bless.
