Incarnation | Part 2b
He was God in both, he showed his humanity in one and his deity in the other. You better know God will walk you through things to let you know I'm in touch with your humanity. But you can't limit Jesus to Jew, you can't limit him to Hebrew, you can't limit him to one ethnicity because all ethnicities came out of him. When God made man in his own image, it was Jesus' image that he made man. Jesus didn't die to make me white, Jesus didn't die to make me, no Jesus died so I could become a child of God. Forget who my earthly mother is or who my earthly father is, he died to make me a child of God. Deity wrapped itself in humanity so that humanity could know deity. Alright back to verse 14, for as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the what? The same, that means he became flesh and blood. That means he would know the weakness of the flesh, the infirmity of the flesh without sin. He knew what it was like to cry, feel pain, have friends do him wrong, have family not acknowledge his call or his purpose. When his own brothers looked at him and said if you really are who you think you are, go show yourself to the world and us. Where he would have to look back at his own kin and say a prophet is without honor among his own kin to grow up in a community of a very small community in Nazareth to have brothers and sisters in that community and they won't acknowledge, they can't acknowledge who he is. And we have all this drama in our life. Friends do us wrong, family does us wrong. And we're tempted and we're pressured and we become fearful and anxious. Man, who am I talking to? And then when we're seen by somebody, we say, man, I've been missing you in church. We say, well, I know I ain't been in church, but I've been going through something. And we let the stuff we go through separate us from the one who went through it so we could have victory. Because religion somehow or another has convinced us he's untouchable. Religion has convinced us somehow or another that if you mess up, you better run from God. But I'm telling you to run to him. I'm telling you that this deity wrapped himself in humanity so that humanity could reach deity. So let's keep reading here. For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil, and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Fear holding me captive. Fear holding me captive.
Satan's power over the flesh holding me captive. When Satan was judged in the garden, God said from this day forward you will eat dust. And it was dust that God used to form the flesh. Satan's only power over us is through the flesh. He has no power over our spirit. He only has power through the flesh. He can only lure me into temptation through things that appeal to the flesh. He can only operate through fear when I'm afraid of what might happen to my flesh. It is through fear of what might happen to me that Satan gets control. But we read here that Jesus came in the flesh to break the power of the one that had the power over our flesh. That's called freedom. Turn with me two chapters over to chapter four. Drop down to verse 14. See, you might look at somebody by the way they, you know, you look at someone by the way they dress or where they live or their titles and all this, you say, oh, you wouldn't understand. You wouldn't understand. And it's easy to look at the birth of Jesus and say, well, the lowly shepherds understood. There are people in this world that are bad about segregating faith. In other words, if you're broke, busted, and disgusted, then you need to go see Jesus, but I'm doing well. I'm all right. But when Jesus was born in earth as Emmanuel, God in man, the shepherds came. They were the first to arrive at a baby that had just been born in Bethlehem, that God's Word says in Micah was the smallest among 10,000 in a stable. And you say, see there, Jesus was born, shepherds show up. It's a poor man's religion. I've actually heard that said to me. I've had that said to me. Jesus is a poor man's religion.
But you better read the whole account because there were Kings that came from the East. They traveled a long way and they brought their gold and they brought their frankincense and they brought their myrrh and they knew that a King had been born. And so Jesus didn't just draw shepherds. He drew Kings. He didn't just draw the humble shepherd. He drew, he drew the educated and the intelligent minds that knew there was something greater than them. There is no person that Jesus didn't come to save. You hadn't gotten so high that you don't need him and you can't get so low that you're separated from him. There is nobody, nobody that doesn't need Jesus and there is nobody that is disqualified or disconnected from his grace and mercy. There are people that take their lives in mansions. Watch this in Hebrews 4, verse 14, if you're there say amen. Seeing then that we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Hebrews 3, 1 teaches that Jesus is the high priest that's the mediator of my words, that's my prayers, that's my declaration of faith, that's when I speak his word over my life, my profession. He says since Jesus is passed on into heaven you better hold fast your profession, in other words, there is somebody in a seat that can do something about your situation so don't stop praying, don't stop professing, don't stop speaking faith over your life, Jesus has ascended to the highest seat, your profession and your prayers are not in vain. That's good. Seeing that we have a high priest passed into the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Look at verse 15, for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling, with the feeling of our infirmities. What does that mean?
He knows what it's like to feel. Feel what? Feel our infirmities? What's an infirmity, a weakness? He knows what it's like to feel weak. If he didn't feel weak in Matthew 26 in the garden of Gethsemane he wouldn't have prayed to the father and said if it be possible let this cup pass from me but not my will, thy will be done. What was that? That was weakness. If he never felt weak he wouldn't have sat there by that well and sent his disciples on into town to bring back some food. He knew what it was like to be hungry. He knew what it was like to be betrayed. He knew what it was like to feel pain. He knew what it was like to dread death, especially the death that was coming to him. But it didn't stop him. Even though he was weak he found power in the spirit and the grace of his father to carry on what God has said. Him a nerve to do But it didn't mean he didn't feel it That means Jesus functioned beyond feeling Feelings did not regulate the will of God in his life feelings did not regulate what he was called to do He was tired and hungry when he set on that well by that well but it didn't stop him from ministering to that woman from Samaria and when the disciples came back and all the all of the Samaritans had come out to see this prophet this Christ that has spoken to this woman I wait a minute when we left him. He was so hungry. He wouldn't make the journey. We don't come back He's holding a crusade. They look at Jesus. They say when did somebody slip you a chicken leg? Well, they said it like this from whence did he get meat Because when we left him to go get some food
He was hungry sitting by a well and then he looked back at him when it came and they said who gave Jesus me He said this he said the meat I eat is to do the will of him that sent me I know what it's like to feel hungry, but still do what I'm called to do That's humanity and deity in touch. We allow our flesh to dictate our life But Jesus is saying you can come in the flesh But by the power of deity you can still do what you've been called to do. He became the perfect model But the bigger point that I'm trying to make is is that because he became Deity wrapped in humanity. He is in touch with the feeling of humanity I'm struggling for y'all to get this Fickling feelings are hard. Let's be real about this You ever not like the way you feeling You ever frustrated with the way you feel Marry folk you're frustrated with the way your spouse feels Sure, my wife's right here done the truth Because when she feels a certain way I want to fix it. Oh Oh You feel that let me fix it that's me. That's that man's side. So ladies if you want to wear your husband off He ain't the only one You said but pastor all miss Chrissy wants really from you is you just to feel what she's feeling Thank you for speaking for her. You're right So Jesus shows up at the tomb or he shows up at Bethany And he's done received word days ago that Lazarus his good friend was sick But he stayed where he was two more days, this is all in John 11 And when he showed up the the sisters come running one after the other Crying and weeping saying Lord. Had you been here? Lazarus my brother would not have died So the ladies Mary and Martha were feeling the brokenness of loss The brokenness of having lost a brother. Are y'all with me? The pain of one that has passed away. They felt it for four days by the time Jesus got there
They have been weeping and mourning their brother's death and Jesus showed up knowing very well. He was gonna raise him He told his disciples would we go to Bethany Lazarus is asleep and must be awakened And the disciples look back and say well if he's asleep that everything's alright Then he had to be real. Let me say no listen. He's dead But I'll wake the dead Man can only wake up people asleep. God can wake up somebody dead Jesus was saying The I'm I was talking too much deity when I told you I was gonna wake him up from sleeping So let me say this in a human way. He's dead But When he shows up at Bethany and Mary Martha like Lord had you been here and they've been weeping and broken Jesus was first concerned that they saw him relate Even though he knew he would raise him The God side of Jesus can raise the dead the flesh side said let me show you that I relate Why wouldn't Why wouldn't God just show up all the time and just do what only he can do with his hands? Why doesn't God just show up every time we pray and every time we ask just show up Lord and do what you can do with your hands Because he didn't come to this earth to show us the power of his hand He came to this earth so that we could be drawn into his heart. He came for a relationship not a religion To Have a relationship you must relate I want to sit on this floor until I feel like everybody here got it I'm sitting here plus i'm tired See We think jesus came to church corporately. We think jesus came to this world to give us a religion No, he came to give us a relationship read john 17 3
So if he came for a relationship, he got to be relatable He didn't just walk in bethany hey lazarus get up. All right guys we got to go No, he comes to mary and martha take me where you laid him Since when does he not know where people are even if they are dead? Oh He said take me to where you laid him as if he don't know how to get there Oh where lazarus is No, you take me to where you laid him because I want to walk this out with you I know I wasn't here two days ago, but i'm gonna walk this out with you Do you know sometimes god will delay the miracle in your life because he wants to walk that out with you What I gotta do Oh We want the lord just to show up and fix it You know, I need the money lord just give me the money I said no i'm gonna walk this out with you Because I want you to know what it's like God will relate to your being the tail when he knows he's gonna make you the head But he wants to make you the head and not forget what it was like when you were the tail So Jesus knew jesus knew very well 5 000 men were hungry. Yeah He knew very well 5 000 men that were hungry He asked the disciples what you got He already knew what they had He said well we don't have nothing We got a little money But ain't enough to buy no food for 5 000 And even if it were the journey be too long But we did find a little boy here got two fish and five loaves Why is jesus getting all in that Why Why is the king of the universe worried about two fish and five loaves because he's deity
But he wraps himself in humanity. He gets in your situation. He gets in your problem He's not intimidated by your mess. He'll get all in it Knowing he's gonna get you out of it. You better hear what i'm saying Yeah And we're wondering like lord, what is the delay you own everything you have everything you can do anything Why are you taking so long? God is saying i'm not gonna do anything with my head until you know, you have my heart Yeah I Have experienced my whole life Delayed i'm like lord, you know, you can do it Why won't you do it and he won't do it because he wants my heart knit with his He walks stuff out knowing what he's gonna do He knew He was gonna make joseph the second highest ranked man in egypt And yet he let his brother sell him out as a slave And there's joseph boy y'all don't got me ahead of myself this will be next week And Joseph's setting up in that prison. Lord, I know you gave me a vision. I know you gave me a dream, this ain't it. And guess who his cellmate is? A baker. One that makes bread. And guess who his other cellmate is? A cupbearer. One that serves wine. The two elements of communion through two men in a prison. buzzer. Men that God, one of those men,
that God would later use to get Joseph in front of Pharaoh. But was he God? Was he God when Joseph got to the top? Or was he God when Joseph was in the prison? He was God in both. He showed his humanity in one and his deity in the other. You better know God will walk you through things to let you know I'm in touch with your humanity. But when he's had enough, he'll demonstrate his deity and do what only he can do in your life. But we're bad about only wanting the deity of Jesus and not the humanity. It's like, we don't want the relationship. Just the deity, Lord, deity please, deity, deity. What's the deity, God? It wasn't long after Thanksgiving, Brother Casey, that I started getting my mama's catalogs, J.C. Penney, Sears, because Christmas is coming. Somehow or another in my house, my family didn't have a whole lot. They didn't care what you needed. My dad said, you gotta wait till Christmas. Some of y'all know what I'm talking about. It's January and I need some shoes. Well, wait till Christmas. Man, I'm circling all these little things in that catalog. Because Christmas, Santa's gonna come through for me. I didn't talk about Santa none through the year.
I had no relationship with Santa. But I had been given the idea, if I just write it on a list, it's gonna magically appear. And we have not grown up nor matured, and we've made Jesus Santa Claus. I don't want no relationship with you, not gonna talk to you, not gonna say anything to you. I don't want no relationship with you. I don't want no relationship with you. Not gonna talk to you, not gonna sit in your lap, Lord, until I need something. But he won't be your Santa Claus. He wants to be your savior. He wants the relationship. He wants to walk out the humanity. And in due time, he'll show you the deity. I gotta wrap this up. Watch this in Hebrews chapter four. He says in verse 15, for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He feels. That's why when he got to the tomb, y'all thought I forgot. That's why when he got to the tomb, after he asked Mary and Martha, take me where you laid him, not because he didn't know where he was at,
but he was gonna walk it out with them. When he got to the tomb, what did he do? He wept. If you are Mary and Martha, and Jesus said, take me where you laid him, that's signifying he don't know where he's at. Do you know Jesus was so get in the trenches with you and he's crying? That when he weeps, you'll think it's over? Think about it. When Mary and Martha took him to that tomb, and he's their only hope, and now he's crying? Well, you know it's over now. We got Jesus crying. It's over. But his humanity side will take you to that place where he will allow you to think it's over. Why would he do that? To be relatable. You've been crying four days. I'm gonna cry with you for a minute. I'm gonna experience your humanity with you for a minute. Jesus wept. Experience your humanity for a minute, even though I know I'm about to release my deity The same Jesus said take me where you've laid him cried and that same Jesus said Lazarus come here That's that deity in that humanity And I want you to know that a wall with the Lord is gonna be a wall where he's in touch with your humanity And you'll think Lord are you ever gonna show your deity? Are you ever gonna show your power? He's like not yet. Not yet. I want you to know I feel your heart. I want you to know I'm in this with you I want to be connected to your heart because if I ever win your heart it won't matter what I do or not do with
my hands That's how you explain Christians that will die and not deny their faith How are Christians so bold and we prayed for a miracle and the miracle didn't come and here we are at church on Sunday Lifting our hands and the devil saying what are you doing? He didn't come through him. We're like, yes, he did in ways You don't understand Church we're gonna go through things in this life That we will not understand and as it was solely based on the hand of God we'd quit Why didn't you heal me? Why didn't you deliver me? Why did my loved one have to leave Lord why And anybody that was only after the deity of Jesus would have done gave up But once he gets your heart You You're not moved by what he does or doesn't do with his head Well, I want to thank you for allowing me into your viewing area today And I hope that you were blessed by the ministry of God's Word Our broadcast is made possible through the faithful financial support of our members and partners Here in this viewing area and I want to encourage you to prayerfully consider Supporting the work of this ministry so that we can take the message of Jesus as the manifested Word of God Reaching more people in more ways and in more places than ever before Thank you for your support It Wasn't man that showed up and said God why did you leave me?
