IN HIM - Part 16 - Reviewal of 8 Things We Have In Christ
This series reviews who we are as Christians as well as who we are without Jesus.
These short words “in Christ Jesus’ are THE MOST important ever written, ever inspired to express the relationship of the believer and Christ. We need to understand them, live by them, operate in the authority of these words.
There are approximately 130 scriptures that define who we are, what we have, what we can do in Christ. We will evaluate some of the scriptures and how they apply to the life of the believer.
♪ We're living in victory! ♪ ♪ The battle's won in victory! ♪ ♪ We've overcome whatever comes our way! ♪ ♪ No one can change the scene! ♪ ♪ We're living in victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ! ♪ Hello, brothers and sisters. This is Mike Kennedy with the Living in Victory broadcast. We're going to end today in the series titled, In Him, Who We Are in Christ Jesus. Now this series could go on for months and still not cover everything that we have, everything we can do, everything that we are in Him. But I believe we're at a good stopping point. Today we're reviewing everything that was covered in the first 14 messages of this series. If you would join your faith with me. Heavenly Father, we come to you. We ask you for understanding of your word, revelation, that we be doers of it, living in it, taking everything that you have for us, living in victory, Father. We touch and agree asking for this. Help me to speak your oracles, Father, precisely, exactly the way you would have me. Father, we thank you for it in the name of Jesus. Amen. Well, in the last message, we covered six items that were in the previous messages. The series is based on Philemon 6, that the sharing of your faith may become effective
by the acknowledgement of every good thing, which is in you, in Christ Jesus. In Him, we have eternal life. We have sanctification, wholeness, healing, prosperity. We have protection, long life, peace, joy. Amen. We have eternal life. We have the blessings of God. Glory, hallelujah. Well, item seven in our review, we have the mind of Christ. It's based on 1 Corinthians 2 16. For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him, but we have the mind of Christ. That word Christ means anointed one, mature one. You know, I will never lose my mind. You hear people with dementia, things of that nature. No, I have the mind of Christ. I will never lose my mind. It would be good for you to say that. Put your hand on your head and say, I have the mind of Christ. I will never lose my mind. Amen. Christ knew the truth. He walked in the blessings of God. He walked in truth. We have the same mind of Christ. We can walk in truth.
And we walk in truth. We walk in the blessings of God. Amen. Be Christ-like. Christ-like thinking in all that we think. Amen. You know, I've heard this verse quoted as, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. A sound mind, a stable mind. Amen. We want to renew our minds to be more like Jesus. We win. Amen. Psalms 1 1 says, Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord. And in his law, he meditates day and night. What are you thinking about? You should be thinking about his word. No, every time a thought comes in, if it doesn't line up with the word, nope, it is written. I'm thinking about that. I come up. Amen. I'm a winner.
Glory to God. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. That means it doesn't thirst. It grows. It matures. It thrives. It flourishes. That brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither. And whatever he does shall prosper. That's who you are in Christ. That's who I am. We prosper. Amen. You say, well, I haven't been. Well, let's renew our mind and find out what we're not doing right. Do it God's way and we will come up. Amen. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment. NOR SINNERS IN THE CONGREGATION OF THE RIGHTEOUS. JUST THINK OF THAT. WE COULD BOLDLY GO TO THE THRONE AND STAND IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD. IF YOU'RE NOT RIGHT WITH GOD, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE JESUS IS LORD, IF YOU'VE REJECTED HIM, MAN, WHENEVER YOU MEET THE CREATOR, YOU WON'T BE STANDING BOLDLY.
YOU'LL BE ON YOUR KNEES CRYING FOR MERCY. AMEN? FOR THE LORD KNOWS THE WAY OF THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT THE WAY OF THE UNGODLY SHALL PERISH. NOT ME, NOT YOU IF YOU'VE RECEIVED JESUS. AMEN? WE WILL NEVER PERISH IF YOU MADE JESUS LORD OF YOUR LIFE. NOT THAT WE DON'T MAKE MISTAKES, NOT THAT WE DON'T COME SHORT, NOT THAT WE DON'T SIN. WE'RE ALL HUMAN AND HAVE MISSED IT. BUT WE ARE ESTABLISHED IN HIM. AMEN? WASHED BY THE BLOOD, CLEANSED BY THE BLOOD. WE ARE REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW. FORGIVEN CHILD OF GOD. HALLELUJAH. EPHESIANS CHAPTER 1 VERSE 3 SAYS, BLESSED BE THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST WHO HAS BLESSED US WITH ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS. THE PHILLIPS BIBLE SAYS, PRAISE BE TO GOD FOR GIVING US THROUGH CHRIST EVERY POSSIBLE SPIRITUAL BENEFIT
AS CITIZENS OF HEAVEN. WE CAN LIVE IN THE SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS THAT JESUS BOUGHT AND PAID FOR. AMEN? YOU KNOW THERE WAS A SITUATION YEARS AGO WHERE I WALKED UP AND IT WAS THIS BIG GUY AND HE WAS A ONE PERCENT OUTLAW BIKER AND HE HAD SIX SIX ITCH TATTOOED RIGHT HERE BIG RED LETTERS ACROSS HIS FOREHEAD I WENT UP AND TRIED TO TALK TO HIM HE KIND OF GRUNTED AND WALKED AWAY I WENT OVER AND PRAYED FOR A LITTLE WHILE UNDERNEATH A TREE JUST SAT THERE PRAYING A CAR, SMALL CAR DROVE IN AND I SAW HIM GET UP FROM WHERE HE WAS OVER AT A PICNIC TABLE AND WALKED UP TO THE CAR HE OPENED UP THE BACK DOOR AND THIS LADY GOT OUT THERE THAT WAS DRIVING CAME AROUND AND HE PICKED UP A LITTLE BABY OUT OF THE BACK SEAT THAT WAS IN A CHAIR, A SEAT AND HE STARTED TO PUT IT IN A BASKET AND I WALKED UP AT THAT TIME AND I SAID, MAN IS THIS YOUR SON? HE SMILED EAR TO EAR, YEAH THIS IS MY NEW BABY BOY AND I SAID, MAN THAT'S AWESOME
DO YOU MIND IF I PRAY OVER THE BABY FOR PROTECTION FOR YOU AND YOUR WIFE ON HOW TO RAISE THIS CHILD FOR FINANCIAL PROVISION HE SAID, YOU WOULD DO THAT? SO I PRAYED OVER HIM SPOKE BLESSINGS OVER HIM AND HE INVITED ME TO COME SIT DOWN WE STARTED TALKING AND I INVITED HIM TO MEET JESUS AS HIS LORD AND SAVIOR AND HE POINTED TO HIS FOREHEAD AND I SAID, THAT DOESN'T MATTER HE GOES, DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? I SAID, YEAH I SAID, DO YOU WANT TO RECEIVE JESUS AND GO TO HEAVEN? HE GOES, YEAH, BUT LOOK WHAT I'VE DONE I SAID, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF THE BLOOD A TATTOO, NO MATTER WHAT IT SAYS DOESN'T KEEP YOU FROM RECEIVING YOUR SALVATION I SAID, WHY DID YOU DO IT ANYWAY? HE SAID, WELL, I THOUGHT IT WAS COOL GET PEOPLE SOME REACTION I SAID, SO IT'S NOT IN YOUR HEART YOU DON'T WANT TO SERVE SATAN? NO. I SAID, WELL YOU CAN RECEIVE JESUS AS LORD RIGHT NOW
AND I WAS ABLE TO LEAVE HIM INTO A SALVATION PRAYER AND THAT BROTHER IS GOING TO HAVE ETERNITY IN HEAVEN FOREVER. AMEN? HE SAID, WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS? I SAID, JUST HAVE A CIRCLE PAINTED TATTOOED ON IT WITH A LINE THROUGH IT AMEN? HE STARTED LAUGHING HE SAID, MAN THAT'S COOL I'M GOING TO DO THAT YOU KNOW, HE HAD A CHOICE HE COULD HAVE BEEN A KNUCKLEHEAD BUT INSTEAD HE BECAME A CHILD OF GOD. DON'T BE A KNUCKLEHEAD AMEN? WE NEED TO TAKE CAPTIVE OF OUR THOUGHTS MEDITATE ON THE WORD AMEN? RENEW OUR MINDS THAT WORD TRANSFORMED COMES FROM THE WORD MORPHED THINK OF A CATERPILLAR TO A BUTTERFLY WE CAN BE MORPHED INTO SOMETHING NEW REGENERATED, RECREATED IN CHRIST JESUS AMEN? BUT WE MUST RECEIVE JESUS AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND WE MUST RENEW OUR MINDS. DON'T JUST
RECEIVE JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND STAY WHERE YOU ARE COME UP HIGHER AND HIGHER INTO THE BLESSINGS OF GOD HALLELUJAH NUMBER EIGHT WE HAVE THE PEACE OF GOD THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING PHILIPPIANS 4-6 BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING IN OTHER WORDS WORRY. Anxious or having anxiety attacks, that's a level of fear. Jesus said fear not. NO WORRIES NO WORRIES NO WORRIES NO WORRIES There's never a good reason to fear. Amen. Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication. With thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. This is how you overcome fear. You turn towards God. You cast the care of it over on Him. You ask God to show you what to do. Amen. You give Him thanks for bringing you up and out. And His peace will come upon you. You will sleep like a baby. You know you say you don't know what I'm going through. I've got reasons to fear. You don't know who's after me. You don't know what they've got, the price they've got on my head. You don't know what I've done. You don't know what the doctor says. You don't know what the bank says. No, I do understand. Jesus understands because all fear is because you don't have perfect love. The love of God in your heart. The love of God flowing through you. If you understand how much God loves you, you won't fear anything. What sort of fear if you've got your name written in the books of heaven as a citizen of heaven? What's the worst that can happen? Boom, I'm out of here. Glory to God, I've got a crown of eternity. That's
the worst thing that can happen to me is I go get my crown. That's tempting right now, but I've got things to do. And so do you, brother. Verse 8. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. There's eight things listed here. Meditate on them. Amen? In order to get verse 7 where it says the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, you must do verse 6. In other words, you must be in prayer, you must be in supplication which is making request, and you must be giving God thanks for bringing you up and out, showing you the way, protecting you. Amen? You must guard your thought life. To keep verse 7 where you have the peace of God, you must do verse 8 in order to keep it. You must think on the eight things. In other words, you must, to get verse 7, you must do verse 6. To keep verse 7, you must do verse 8. Amen? If not on the list, don't think about it. Put a bouncer at your mind. Say, nope, you're not allowed in here. I'm not going to think about you. Amen? Don't think about bad thoughts, anger, news that will flavor your mind or get your mind off from the peace of God. Amen? First Corinthians 6 verse 11 says, And such were some of you, but you were washed, that's you, you were washed, but you were sanctified, set apart, but you were justified, made right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of God. You've been washed, you've been sanctified, you've been justified, completely innocent, counted righteous because of what Jesus did. Hallelujah. You've been redeemed. That word redeemed is more than just freedom from the curse of the law. It means you are free from sickness, shame, sin, eternal death. Now that alone should give you peace, the peace of God. Amen? Hallelujah. I'm getting excited. Verse 9, or item 9, we are more than overcomers. The Spirit of God that is in you is greater than the enemy in this world. First John 4 verse 4 says, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them. Now when you see little children, he's not talking about just little kids. He's been around for millennia. In his eyes, you can be 100 years old and you're still a baby, you're still a little child. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them. Overcome who? He's talking about the evil spirits, the evil attacks that he mentions in verse 3 of this chapter. Amen? They're the ones that refuse to declare Jesus is Lord. And
you have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. Amen? Come these evil spirits in verse 3, because Jesus is in you. Amen? Because you received the Son of God as your Lord and Savior. You know, there's a lot of different religions that say God has no son. Like Islam. It's a lie. Allah is dead. Buddha is dead. Amen? Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, the only way. We win if we receive Jesus and we fight the good fight of faith. We do not quit. Say, I'm not a quitter, I'm a winner. Amen? I don't care what people have told you, what other clubs have told you, guards have told you, parents have told you. God said you are more than an overcomer. You are more than a winner in Him, in Christ Jesus. Glory to God. And if God said it, it is true. The 10th item we're gonna review. We have received abundant grace and the gift of righteousness and we reign in life through Jesus Christ. Romans 5, 17 says, for if by one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who received abundance of grace in the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the one Jesus Christ.
Grace is a gift, amen? Righteousness is a gift. The gift of righteousness. We can reign over sin with an abundance of grace. And the word says in James 4, verse 7, the humble get the grace. We can reign in life now. Just humble yourself, ask God for help, ask God for mercy, ask God for strength. You cannot grow in righteousness. You've been made righteous. It's a gift. You grow in righteous works, things that you do, deeds that you do, but you have already been made right with God when you receive Jesus, when you repent, when you acknowledge your sins, amen? Romans 3, 24 says, all have sin, including me and you, and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. The amplified version of this says, all are justified and made upright and in right standing with God freely and gratuitously by His grace, His unmerited favor and mercy through the redemption which is provided in Christ Jesus. Amen? Ephesians 2, 1 says,
in you, He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sin, you have been recreated in Christ Jesus, hallelujah. He has delivered us from the power of darkness. You don't have to ask for a deliverance. You have to receive it, take it by faith. You know, a lot of people say, pray for a deliverance. There's not a scripture for that. There is a scripture, Colossians 1, 13 says, He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Amen? The New Living Translation of Colossians 1, 13 says, for He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His dear Son who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. We need to receive it. We need to stand on His word, fight the good fight of faith, amen? Resist the enemy and He will flee. We've got to act on the word, amen? You know, if people say, oh, we need to get them out of darkness. Well, if they've received Jesus, they need to receive, they're transforming, they're renewing of their mind. People say, oh, that Christian is being controlled and ruled by demons. Well, if that's the case, if a believer can be ruled and controlled by a demon that he's resisting,
that would mean that the body of Christ can be ruled by demons, never. Satan's already been whooped, amen? Oh, some people submit to demons. They allow demons in their life. That's why we're supposed to resist them. Fight that fight, amen? Glory to God. Item 10, I can do whatever I need to do in life through Christ Jesus who gives me strength. Philippians 4, 13 says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, not by my ability, not by my strength, but by his strength working in my body. Don't say I can't. You can through the anointing. You can through expectation of God's goodness in his word, amen? He gives you the grace. In other words, He gives you His ability if we trust in Him. Amen. 1 Timothy 6 17 says, Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty nor trust in uncertain riches but in the living God who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Well, it says not to be haughty. In other words, prideful, arrogant, high-minded. No, the humble get His grace, get His strength, get His ability. Amen. Glory to God. In the NIV version of Romans 12 16 it says, Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. There is so much ugly, stinking pride in our world. You know, the word humility comes from the word to go low. Jesus said to be like me. Not arrogant. Be humble. Not weak. A lot of people think that humility is weakness. Humility is strength. It's truth. Amen. Meek. Not weak. Be meek. Be bold. Be strong. But be humble. In Hebrews 4 16 it says, Let us
therefore come boldly to the throne of grace. Not, oh timid, not fearful. If you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can go boldly to the throne of the Creator that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in a time of need. You have need. You have challenges. You need strength. Just go to Him and ask Him for strength. Take what you have in Christ Jesus. Amen. That word pride actually means puffed up and blowing smoke. They're a bragger. They're a blowhard. Don't be arrogant, prideful, blowing smoke. Devil is the most arrogant, self-centered, prideful loser of all time. Think of that. He was in the heavenlies as an archangel and he lost it all. He's gonna end up in eternity in hell. The biggest loser of all time. Why do you want to serve and submit Him? Amen. You don't want to serve and submit to Him. You want to serve and submit to the King of Kings. The Lord of Lords who will make you a king in His kingdom. Amen. Item 11. God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4.19. His riches are an unlimited supply but we must submit to Him to get the benefits of it. 1st Peter 3.15 says, but sanctify the Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope, the expectation that is in you. He's gonna bring me up. He's gonna bring me out with meekness and fear. That word fear here means reverence of God. Having a good conscience that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better if it is the will of God to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. In other words, I can go through some suffering, some challenges. That doesn't mean that it is being attacked for being a believer. Not suffering as in I'm broke, I'm sick. No. We are redeemed from the curse of the law. Those things are under the curse of the law. We can be criticized for what we believe, for standing boldly for Jesus Christ. Amen. And as we do that, He will supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory. Hallelujah. Item 12. I have received the spirit of wisdom and revelation and the knowledge of Jesus, the eyes of my heart enlightened so that I know the hope of having life in Christ. Item 13. I have received the power of the Holy Spirit and He can do miraculous things through me. I have
authority and power over the enemy in this world. Mark 16, 17 talks about how signs follow you. Amen. Signs will follow you as you are standing on His Word of who you are in Him, who you are in Christ Jesus. Amen. You can lay hands on the sick and they will recover. You can rebuke demons and cast them out in the name of Jesus because of who you are in Him. Item 14. A joint heir with Christ. In other words, you are an heir jointly seated in heaven more than a conqueror because you received Jesus. Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Amen? Romans 8 37. In all these things we are more than conquerors through he who loved us and you are the head and not the tail according to Deuteronomy 28 13 and the Lord will make you the head and not to tell you shall be above and not beneath if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today and are careful to observe them be a doer of the word and you will be the head and not the tail that word is means that you will be in a place of reigning this verse is God's definition of the blessing of God in your life in Hebrew it means free from all constraints you were born as a king as you submit to the King of Kings hallelujah you are more than an overcomer through Jesus Christ who lives in you hallelujah say this after me I am what he says I am I can do what he says I can do amen I can do with his ability all that he says I can man this makes a big difference it makes you rich it makes you powerful it gives you authority when you stand on the word he will bring you up you say I'm not rich stop saying that start saying I'm coming up I'm prospering amen I'm getting out of here the Lord's bringing me up I take his mercy I receive his mercy amen glory to God this puts you in an apprised inner circle with him you become one of the trusted servants of God and he will prosper you he will protect you he will bring you up amen he will set you free he will put you in places you could not even imagine glory to God remember who you are in him he loves you he has plans to prosper you he has plans for you to walk in goodness to walk in authority walk in victory amen well this is Mike Kennedy with living in victory if you don't know Jesus has your Lord and Savior I encourage you to receive him today and live the abundant life that he
has for you say heavenly father I believe that you sent your son Jesus Christ to become a man he died on the cross went to the pits of hell was rose from the grave and he's seated in heavenly places father I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior I repent for my sins I confess my sins and I receive cleansing in the name of Jesus well brother your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life for eternity remember first John 5 forces whatever is born of God that's you overcomes the world and this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith that's faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior amen have a blessed day
