How to Build a Happiness That Nothing and No One Can Take Away
Life rarely goes the way you planned. Stress piles up, people push back, and sometimes it feels like happiness is just out of reach. That’s the world the church in 1 Thessalonians was living in—constant pressure, nonstop challenges, voices against them.
But here’s the crazy part: people were talking. “I’ve heard about them,” Paul said. And what he’d heard wasn’t defeat. It wasn’t despair. It was joy. A steady, unshakable joy that didn’t crack under the weight of life.
Their secret? They weren’t waiting for happiness to drop in their lap. They had joy in the waiting—because they knew who they were waiting on. Jesus. And that same joy can be yours. No matter what you’re up against, you can carry a joy that holds steady, because Jesus is coming back.
Action Steps
Read 1 Thessalonians 1 this week—10 verses a day that remind you joy is possible even in suffering.
Shift your waiting—don’t wait for the “right” job, relationship, or circumstance to bring joy. Choose joy while you wait on Jesus.
Turn & Trust—turn from distractions or idols and trust Jesus daily as you wait for His return.
Encourage someone else—share with a friend or family member where you’ve seen joy in the middle of your own challenges.
