Isaiah 60 speaks to a people returning from exile to a ruined and broken Jerusalem. The city’s glory is gone, its people scattered, and darkness seems to cover everything. But into that darkness comes a promise: “Arise, shine, for your light has come.” God himself will be their everlasting light. Brighter than the sun and moon, his presence will drive back the darkness and restore what was lost.
