Things Belong to God." There are things in Scripture that God said belong only to him. And over the next four weeks we're going to be looking at some of these things. God said that vengeance belongs to him. We're going to look at that one week. God said the battle belongs to him. One week we're going to look at how the battle belongs to the Lord. Today we're going to talk about how the glory belongs to the Lord. One week, I'm not going to tell you which week, we're going to talk about how the tithe belongs to God. Hallelujah. All right. Okay. Maybe not. Maybe not. I don't know. And these are, there's different things that the Lord says. These things belong to me. They don't belong to me and they belong to me. The secret things belong. What do I do with the mysteries of life? The secret things belong to God. And so today we're going to talk about how the glory belongs to God. Look at Acts chapter 12. And I'll just warn you right up front. This is one of those audience participation services. This is one of those. We're going to stand up a couple of times, get ready to, we're going, get ready to shout. Just everybody, do a little clear your throat real quick. Come on here. It's going to be a, can we have a little Pentecostal church today? All right. It's going to be that kind of day. So just loosen up. Acts chapter 12 verse 21. So on the day, Herod arrayed and royal apparel sat on the throne and gave an oration to them. The king Herod is giving an address to the people and the people kept shouting. They kept, he kept allowing it to happen. This is the voice of a God, not of a man, then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him. Watch this because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died. How many are glad you chose city light this morning? Anybody glad either? You're like, man, I should have went to central. What am I doing here today? Watch this. Watch this. It's not that the angel struck him and he fell over dead. It's that a process of death began in his life because he did not give God the glory. Now look at Isaiah chapter 42 verse eight, I am the Lord. That is my name. I will not share my glory with anyone else. And I won't share the praise do me with idols. I will not share my glory. I want to preach from the subject. God doesn't share. God doesn't share. Help me preach this a little bit. Elbow your neighbor. Find somebody that looks friendly and tell them neighbor. Come on, tell them neighbor. Be careful. God doesn't share. Were they friendly? Find somebody else real quick. Find someone else. This is 11 o'clock. First of all, apologize for rejecting them and not looking at them. Come on one more time. Say God doesn't share. God doesn't share. God doesn't share. Jesus to your name and your name alone be all praise, honor and glory. We give you thanks and we give you praise today. And we just

refuse to take anything that only belongs to you. May city light church and the people of this church starting right here with this pastor always give you the glory in Jesus name and the church said amen. Let's just start off with a praise. Come on. We're going to talk about praise today. Let's praise the Lord. Hallelujah. Thank you brother. Come back. Come back in 28 minutes whether I'm done or not. Just come back. Okay. God is so generous. God is truly beyond generous. He's truly beyond kind. God is such a giver. He's so generous. If you want to know a little bit about God, let me give you a little bit of God 101. 1 John 4 8, God is love. Now don't confuse that in our Western culture. Love is not God. So love or whatever we love doesn't get to define who God is. But God is love and God is the definition of love. And if you want to know what love looks like and if you want to know who God looks like, just look at Jesus. God is love. And what does love manifest like? What does love express look like? It looks like John 3 16. For God so loved the world that he gave. So God is a giver. God's love is expressed in his generosity. God has given us so much. If if you're lost, he gives you salvation. And if you're sick, he gives you healing. And if you're falling apart, he gives you miracles. And to the lonely, he gives spiritual family and kingdom. And if you feel like... God is so kind and God is such a giver and God just continues to give and to give and to give, but glory, God says, I don't share my glory. That is for me, and for me alone. The Lord said it like this in Isaiah 42, I wanna just read it again. I will not share my glory. God says glory belongs only to him. The credit, the honor, the praise, the glory for who he is and all that he has done, we don't get any of the credit for it. We don't get any of the praise for it. We don't accept any of the honor of it. We give it all to God because God doesn't share to the name of Jesus to be glory.

Watch this, in heaven, we're gonna sing this song, Revelation 5, 13, then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea and all that is them saying to him who sits on the throne and to the lamb, watch this be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever. And everybody said, amen right there. How could we sing one song for all of eternity? How could you might think about heaven and go, "Man, I feel like that's gonna get boring after all." How do I just sing one song? Because every time you look at God, every time you look into his face, every time you see Jesus, all over again, another praise is gonna rise. Another song is gonna rise when you didn't think you could praise him again. All of a sudden, another praise is gonna rise out of your spirit that says to you and to you alone, be honor and glory forever and forever. We're never gonna get tired of singing it because every time we see him, a song is gonna rise out of our heart. You know, when you first get to heaven for every Christian in the house, when you first get to heaven, the Bible says we're gonna go through what is called the judgment seat of Christ. We're gonna be judged for our works. We're not gonna be judged on our salvation.

Salvation is by grace alone, but we're gonna be judged by our works, by the good things we've done, by our motives, by our heart, and by our attitudes. And the Bible said that after we go through this judgment seat of Christ, we're gonna be given a throne. Excuse me, a crown. We're gonna be given that crown. And here's what's amazing. I think you're gonna look at that crown for about a second. For about a second, you're gonna be in heaven with that crown, you're gonna go, "Yeah, yeah." I should get one of these. That was a good Christian. I had to serve God in Sin City. I helped that church. I helped that preacher. I was out in that parking lot. I was one of those asphalt angels. It was 118 degrees out there, and I was out there parking cars, and I was on the host team trying to get people seated. And yeah, I was in, I was in kids ministry serving, getting bit by toddlers, and getting thrown up on by little infants, and getting kicked by second graders. Yeah, I was a good husband.

I was a good my wife was mean to me, but I was a good husband. And yeah, I was a good wife, and my husband was a jerk, but I loved him anyway. And I was a good mama. I was a good day. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I served the Lord. I tithed. I did the tap to give, and I gave to the house of God. Yeah, yeah, I should get me one of these, and you'll put it on, and then you're gonna look up and see Jesus. And you're gonna go, "Oops, there's only one worthy to wear a crown." And the Bible says that around the throne of God, we will take our crowns. Come on, somebody. And we will throw them at the feet of Jesus, and we will say to him who sits on the throne and unto the Lamb be glory and power and praise forever. Come on, I think you don't have to wait till heaven. Go ahead and do it right now. Somebody praise God with me. Oh, come on, anybody grateful that God has made a way for you to Jesus, and Jesus alone be the praise. When we give God the glory, we are not giving him more of something he is lacking.

God don't need it. God is not insecure. See, we need encouragement. We need praise. We need compliments. We need it. God don't need it. God says, "If you don't praise me, I'm all good. "I'll make the rocks cry out. "If the worship at city lights a little bit cold, "it's all good. "I'll just send a wind through the valley, "and the trees will clap their hands and praise me. "If you won't worship me, it's all good. "The birds of the air and the creatures of the earth "will worship." I am good. God is not lacking praise, nor does he need praise. We are not giving something that God is lacking much. We are recognizing who he is and proclaiming his worth. Praise doesn't change God, it changes us. Praise us not something God needs. Praise us something we need to give to God because of the transformation it does. Let us exalt His name together. Do you have a praise partner on your row or do you need to change rows? Is your row stuck up? If it is, I'll let you kick 'em right out and send 'em to overflow and we'll send a praise to her in.

Come on. Because the best praise is a praise when you do it with the people of God. Oh, magnify. (congregation cheering) Oh, magnify the Lord with me. Now watch, magnify. When I magnify something, it doesn't make the thing bigger. It makes it clearer. When I magnify God, He don't get bigger, but He gets bigger to me. Oh, man, some of y'all gotta wear glasses and maybe someone hands you a phone and you look at that phone, you go, "Wait a minute, I need my glasses. I can't see, give me my glasses." And then you put the glasses on and then you can see. That's what praise is. Praise puts on gratitude glasses that reminds you of who God is and what God's... I told you, we're gonna praise the Lord today. (congregation cheering) Oh, come on. Somebody put on your gratitude glasses right now. And thank God for all He's already done in your... Come on, somebody magnify God with me. Don't let me praise God alone today. (congregation cheering) Hallelujah. He's been too good to just sit there.

He's been too good to just watch this happen. He's been too good for me to try to take the credit to God be the glory. (congregation cheering) So what does it mean to glorify God? What does it mean to glorify God? Well, glory, number one, it's your best. To give God the glory is to give Him your best. When we talk about the glory of God, we're talking about the fullness of God being expressed. When God is in His glory, it's all of who He is expressed at one time. This is why when Moses said, "God, I want to see your glory." God said, "You can't see my glory, you'll die." It'll be straight out of the Raiders of the Lost Ark. All the old people in here, you remember, Indiana Jones in the Raiders? You're just gonna melt. So God said, "Moses, I can't show you my glory. "I can't show you everything about me "at the same time you die." So I'll just show you one aspect of who I'm gonna show you my goodness. 'Cause if I showed you my goodness and my wrath and my holiness and my love and my mercy and my grace and my power and if I showed you everything of who I am all at the same time, you wouldn't be able to stand. You wouldn't be able to live.

So when God's glory is on display, it's the fullness of God. When I give God glory, here's what I'm doing. I'm giving Him my best, my talent, my mind, my ideas. I'm using all that I am for the glory of God. It's taking every bit of my strength and giving it to God. See the glory of the apple tree is the apple. When the apple tree produces the apple, it is operating in the fullness of its creative order and destiny. And when you use your gifts and when you use your talents and when you use your abilities and when you use your best to honor God, you are giving God the glory. We do not give God the scraps. We don't give Him the seconds. We give Him our best. We give Him our first. Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. That's how you're supposed to live first through the instant 31 that I see my entire life through the lens of how can I glorify God through this? To give God the glory means that I give Him my time, talent, and treasure. Let's all say that together. Everybody say time, talent, treasure. When God has your time, talent, and treasure, He has your glory.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, time. That's why you ought to give God the first part of your day. I'm not a morning person, become one. I'm a night owl, but it ain't working. You go to bed at night, you lay there and you grab your Bible. You go, "Yeah, I'm just going to read this scripture." No, Lord, He's not in your out. I think I'll pray before you go to bed. You've got to have an encounter with God before you go to bed. You're going to fall asleep. You ought to wake up and give God some time. If you wake up at six, you ought to wake up at 5.30. If you normally wake up at seven, you ought to wake up at six, or if you normally wake up at five, you're already crazy, wake up at four. You know what I mean? I don't know. If you wake up at nine, you're lucky. My point is, you ought to wake up and give God some time. Get in the words, start your day submitting your day to the Lord. You will be amazed at what God does with that day when you consecrate the day to God and you give Him the first moments of your day and say, Lord, I'm dedicating the next 24 hours to you and to your name and to your glory. Give God some time. That's what's happening right now. You're giving Him the first day of the week. Success begins on Sunday.

Monday is not the first day of the week. This is the first day of the week. And when I give God this hour, I'm giving Him the whole week. (congregation applauding) And then you add in the drive. You know, we have people driving from St. George. We have people driving from Perump. We have people driving from down by. We got people driving all the way from Henderson 15 minutes. My God, what a sacrifice? I heard somebody drove in from Summerlin today. Oh my God, they left it, eight, nine, one, three, five. What a sacrifice to drive 10 minutes. That's powerful. I'm gonna bless you. I'm proud of you. But we're giving God all of this time and we're cutting time out of our schedule and we're dedicating the next week to God. And I'm telling you, God said, I'll redeem the time. I'll bless the time. I'll give you more time. I'll give you time to locus eight and the cankerworm stall. Come on, when I give God time, God does some, any time you give God anything, He don't give it back to you the way you gave it to Him. He gives it back to you, multiplied. So when I give God an hour, He gives me a week. When I give God a week, He gives me a month. When I give God a month, He gives me a year.

Come on, give God some time this week and watch what He'll do. Maybe this is the best service. Number two, talent, you gotta give God your talent. Have you surrendered your gift to God yet? And whatever you do, do it heartily from your heart as to the Lord and not to men. I hate my job, do it for the Lord. My boss is out to get me, he ain't your boss. Jesus is your boss, do it to the Lord. Work your job for the Lord, not for your boss. And all of a sudden, you're gonna work different. And all of a sudden, you're gonna realize maybe your boss wasn't the problem in the first place. Hey, good morning. Honor God with your gift. For whatever reason, God gave me a speaking gift. I don't know why and I don't know when and I don't know how, but He did so I use it for the glory of God. And some days it's in church and in the four walls of the church and other days it's at leadership things. And other days it's with pastors and other days. It's out on the golf courses. I'm just talking to drunk guys, amen. But I use my ability to speak for the glory of God. Amen, with my coke Z, come on somebody, don't judge me. I said, they're drunk, not me, you know what I'm saying? (laughing) It's better for the score too. I'm like, you have another, amen, oh yeah.

All right, I'm kidding, I don't know, I don't know. Praise God, praise God. Use your talent for the, you know, my wife does all these, everything you see in our church, my wife did. It all came from her, from her heart. From the lights, to the screens, to the graphics, to the beautiful woodwork and the lobby, to the way the windows hit and where the sun comes in. That's all from her, it's scary. It's a beautiful mind, it's scary in there. And she was working out all these, all these things yesterday. And she was in the ground and I was like, moving it around my guy, it was like, it was scary to watch. I said, I'm impressed. We're in bed together and I was right in my sermon and she was doing all the graphics, I'm impressed. And I go, you ever feel that way when I'm preaching? (congregation laughing) Hey. Nah, nah, see how it is, but I try. No, that's her gift, it's a grace. Where did all that come from? I don't know where it all came from, but it's on the inside of her and now she uses it for the glory of God. And I'm telling you from every first time guests that walks into this building, every preacher that walks into this building, they walk into that lobby and go, wow, that was her gift for the Lord

that gives God the glory. Have you surrendered your gift to the Lord? See, no one did this better in the Bible than David. God gave him sheep, he became an excellent shepherd. God gave him a giant and he learned how to fight. God gave him broken men in a cave and he learned how to lead. God gave him a kingdom and he learned how to govern. God gave him a heart and a harp and he learned how to worship. God gave him failure and he learned how to repent. No matter what God could trust him with in his hands, David was able to take that and use it for the glory of God. It doesn't matter if you're a rejected shepherd or you're the king of a nation. Take that thing and use it for the glory of God and watch what God will do with it. Well, since we're in a good mood, let me just hit treasure real quick. What if every person on our church became a contributor? I know we're in a consumer culture. As a Western culture, we're consumer. And then you just magnify that by about a million to be in Vegas, I get it. But we're not the strip and this ain't the win. And this ain't the T-Mobile. This is the house of God. And we ought to come into it a little different. I don't come into church as a consumer. I come in as a contributor. I come into receive from the Lord and be a blessing to the house of God

and to the people of God. You got to change. You got to change your thinking around it. If every person in this church became a contributor instead of a consumer, we would have every need met in our church and we would be able to walk through every door that the Lord would open for us in ministry. That's quiet in here. Let's just let it settle real quick. Somebody drop a Stanley and break the silence right now, I feel that. (congregation laughing) See, God trusted for whatever reason. I don't take any credit for it. Whatever reason, God gave us a vision. Eight years ago, my wife and I, God gave us a vision. And we're doing everything we can to steward that vision. But the speed of the vision is dependent upon the provision of the people of God. So though God trusted us with the vision, God is trusting you with the speed of that vision. And we can only move at the speed of the generosity of God's people. And that's why it matters because we both have a part to play. We're partners, we're partners in the gospel. See in Exodus 25, God said, have them make me a sanctuary. God is telling Moses, have them, the people.

God didn't tell Moses to build it. God told the people to build it. But Moses, the Bible said, got the blueprint for it. So Moses got the vision, but it was dependent upon the people to actually build it. You know, I didn't build this church. We gave a lot to this church. We gave a lot to this church. We gave a lot to this building. We gave a lot to this building. But as much as we gave, it wouldn't have scratched the surface for the need of this building. Put the scripture back up. I want people to know it's in the Bible. Amen, the sex of this. The people had to build it. And then God says, and here will be the reward for building me a house. I'll dwell among them. Every time they go to that property, I'll meet them. Every time they walk in on 578, a West Sunset Road, 89118, I will be there personally to meet with them because they built me a house and I'll be there to meet them. Every time they come into the house, they're gone. Now here's what's powerful. And then the people hear the word and the Bible says they go home to get provisions for the house.

Here's what that means. Everyone had a different level. Some people went home and they could give God leather. Literally, they brought back leather to the house of God and said, you know, we could use this maybe to tie up things or to create shade or I got leather. And other people said, I got some clothes. I'm gonna donate some clothes. And other people said, I've got some wood. I'll donate some wood. And other people said, I've got gold. I'll donate gold. And other people said, I've got precious stones and diamonds and I'll do that and I've got silver. And everyone donated on their level. So some people were given gold and some people were given leather and they were both precious to God. You know, I had a guy who's wealthy, email us a few months ago and go, I wanna start giving the city light, but first I need to know what all the staff salaries are. Say what? (audience laughs) See, the first test of every preacher is God needs to know that you can't be bought. And number two is you can't be controlled. And I said this, I don't care how much money you have. You can't, you can't control this house. You can't come in from somewhere else and think that you're just gonna find,

I'm not, that's none of my business to tell you what people make. And it's none of your business to know what I make. And it's none of my business to know what you make. (audience laughs) You know, I don't know what anybody makes in this room. Do you realize that, right? Like we don't know, we don't know, we don't know. And it's none of my business and it's none of your business. But he wanted to control as if, you know, I could give $10,000, right? Give $100,000 a year, keep it, make your money perish with you. This house is not built on $100,000 gifts. (audience applauds) It's built on the faithful servants of the Most High God that give their best to God. And together we surrender our time, our talent, and our treasure to the Lord. Come on. And we build a house for the glory of God. Somebody say amen. (audience applauds) This house has not been built on large gifts. Though if you wanna give one, I'm still down. (congregation laughing) Have you surrendered your treasure to the Lord? See, I think a lot of times we surrender our debt to God, hoping he'll take it away. But we don't surrender our savings account to God

because we're afraid he'll take it away. (congregation laughing) Time-talent treasure, lift for the glory of God. Number two, glory is too heavy for you. Glory is too heavy for you, it's too heavy for you. Let me have the worship team come, it'll remind me to end. Glory is too heavy for you. And everybody stick around, we're gonna worship at the end of this service, so it'd be really awkward if you left early. (congregation laughing) It'd be a major failure of my communication, okay? And the Lord struck him, watch this, because he did not give glory to God. See, Herod took something that only God can handle, and it destroyed him from the inside out. Worms started eating him. A process of death, pride will kill you, pride will eat it, you pride will rot you. Friend, we are not self-made. I know you work hard, and I'm proud of you, and I work hard, and I'm proud of me, but listen, we are not self-made. Every gift of God is a grace, every blessing of God is a grace, and I refuse to take the credit for something God put on the inside of me. We are to steward it, we are to work at it, we are to hone it, we are to be excellent at it,

but at the end of the day, anything we have came from the hand of the Lord, and I refuse to take glory. I can't, I can't, it's too heavy for me. It's too heavy for you. Pride eats at you, and it begins in the heart, and it grows over time, and pride gets darker and darker. Pride will turn an angel into the devil. I'll prove it to you. Isaiah 14 talks about Lucifer, the son of the morning. Lucifer means light bear, and Lucifer was his name. He was an angel before he became Satan. The Bible said that Lucifer was covered in precious stones, and that he had an instrument on the inside of him. Lucifer was the worshipper of heaven. Every time he breathed, every time he walked, every time he talked, what would happen is that instrument would begin to play and worship would rise out of him. And then as the glory from the throne of God would hit all those precious stones, it would reflect as this beautiful light show. Now watch this, this is what Lucifer was, but Lucifer reflected the light. He wasn't the source of light. He was the light bear, he didn't carry the light, he reflected the light, but somewhere along the line, Lucifer started feeling himself, and Lucifer started seeing the light shining out of him, and he thought it was coming from him,

and he thought he was worthy of the glory, and he was worthy of the honor, and he was worthy of the praise, because he forgot that the light was never from him in the first place, it came from God. Your gift is from God, your talents from God, your anointing's from God, your ability to make money's from God. I know you're beautiful, but that beauty came from God, and I know you're gifted, but that gift came from God, and I know you can make money, but that ability came from God, and I know you can sing, but that ability came from God, don't forget, you're not the source of the light. (congregation applauding) So, the Bible said that God found pride in his heart, this is Isaiah 14, 12, how you've fallen from heaven, oh, Lucifer, son of the morning, how you are cut down to the ground, you who weaken the nations, 'cause pride always brings weakness, now look at this verse 13, "For you have said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven." These are the five I wills of Satan, I will ascend to heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I will sit on the mountain of the congregation on the furthest sides of the north, I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,

I will be like the Most Thy God, and God went, nope, this is why the New Testament Jesus said, "I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning, 'cause God won't share his glory." (congregation applauding) What letter is in the middle of the word "pride"? What letter is in the middle of the word "sin"? I, I, I, I, I, pride stinks, pride beats you from the inside out, pride will destroy you, but listen, not only will pride change you, humility will change you. Humility gets you looking and sounding like Jesus. And let me tell you what humility looks like and sounds like, watch this humility, looks like it sounds like gratitude. Pride, it sounds like, I, I, I. Humility sounds like, thank you, thank you, thank you. And as a church, I pray that we're not an I church. I pray that we're not a me church. I pray that our whole church is not built on what I can get from God. I wanna be a church built on, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Come on everybody, say thank you Jesus, come on, say it. (audience applauding) Number three, someone is getting your glory. See, if, if you don't give God the glory, it's not like it's not going anywhere, it's going somewhere.

Somebody's getting your glory. And whether you try to keep it and it destroys you or whether you try to give it to creation, and that'll never help you. But someone's getting your glory 'cause you were born to worship, you're a worshipper. You can't help it. I'm an atheist, you're still a worshipper. You worship intellect. You worship science. You worship the mystery of the Big Bang. You can't explain it, but you believe something that cannot be proven is real. You have just as much faith as us, just in the wrong thing. You believe in the theory of evolution. And I'm glad you're here. And I'm really glad you're here. And I'm sorry I'm so loud. For although they, for although they, they knew God, Romans 120, they knew God, but they didn't glorify him as God. Is that not the West? Is that not America? Is that not England? Is that not Australia? Is that not New Zealand? Is that not the UK? We know God, we know better, but we've stopped worshiping him.

We've stopped glorifying him. Stop giving him things. And their thinking has become futile. They're full of hearts and darken, although they claim to be wise, they became. They've exchanged, now watch this. I said, I said, somebody's getting your glory. They've exchanged the glory of the immortal God. They've stopped giving the immortal creator glory, and they've started giving creation glory. They've started giving glory to human beings and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore, God gave them over. God gave them over. God gave them over. God doesn't give up on anybody, but he won't force you to worship him. So he will give you over, he'll allow, go ahead. And when that happens, your heart gets dark, and you enter into sexual immorality, which is the sexual revolution of America. It was never about liberation. It was about a rejection of worship. We stopped worshiping God, and we stopped worshiping the creator, and we started worshiping creation. Degrading their bodies for one another is what it is. Like someone's getting your worship. If we don't give glory to the one who deserves it, we'll give it to anything,

but there's only one who's worthy. And whoever you give glory to is the one who becomes your source. Stop giving it to the creator. I refuse to give creation what only the creator deserves. Yeah, yeah. I just refuse it, I just refuse it. He's getting my worship. We have so many new people coming to our church. I'm so glad you're here, and I know a lot of you have been really messed up by, like, we don't have coffee in the lobby, and we don't allow coffee in the auditorium. I know I'm so sorry, I love you. And I see the disappointment, man. I see people walking into that lobby, they got a Trenta, man. Just, they got so much coffee, and they come rolling into the house of God. This is the day the Lord has made. I shall re-enjoy, and you get up to that door and a little sweet little host goes, "I love you so much, you can't bring that in here." People just get shocked. They don't know what to do. Sometimes they go, they go, "You know what? We're going to the crossing. We're going to the church, we're going to find us a new..." You know?

And sometimes they drink it, and other times they just go home. I get it, I get it. But I want you to understand, this is, I'm not a clean freak, and I'm not legalistic, and I'm not religious. But when we began this church, if we sing a song, I got to throw up my hands, and I praise you again and again. If you've got a grande hot coffee in your hand, and you go to throw up your hands, someone's going to get burned, someone's going to die.
