We just take a moment to recognize that you're still a miracle working God. You're still a God that makes a way when it seems like there's no way. God, we just praise you and we lift you up. Thank you that you're the God that makes the impossible possible. And so we put our trust and our faith in you again today, Jesus, and we submit our ear to you and ask you to have your way God. And it's in your sweet name that we pray. Come on, somebody say, amen. Hallelujah, I'm so excited to be in church with y'all today. And we really believe, Journey, in the power of prayer.

and everything that they need to get through this season. I pray for grace over these 21 days of prayer and fasting that you'd sustain them and that you'd give them strength. Tommy had shared with us that he was trying to do everything on his own and it didn't quite work out. It left him feeling empty and alone. So he decided to give his heart to Jesus. And he said he felt a peace that he had never felt before in his life. He registered to get baptized and that morning was honestly a tough morning for him. He was about to call it out. He was feeling full of fear and doubt. And his sister called him unexpectedly to encourage him. And he said, when he was dumped into the water, the baptism waters and came out, he was completely made new by the love of God. Praise God. And stories like that are made possible by your generosity. Let Him know you love Him. You know, sometimes we sing songs and the lyrics, man, they're pretty intense, especially if you haven't grown up in church or if you're new to this whole faith thing. When you sing a song like this, it says, man, my whole life, those are big phrases, my whole life surrendered. Why would someone sing that? Why would we find joy or pleasure in letting go control of our life? Sometimes my family will have like these little one-day vacations at the water parks here in Orlando. And you know, one of our favorite things to do at the end of the day is you always get in the lazy river. You know what I'm talking about? The lazy river. It's in the name if you've never been in it, but it just, you just kind of sit and it flows you around. You just lay down and it takes you.

Every once in a while, I'm in that river and I'll look back at my kids. I got two boys and they are in there. I'm floating and they're going against the current. They're just, just walking. It's like for their life. Cause it's a force that's coming. And I keep looking back at them like, bro, that's not how this goes. This, you're doing it wrong. Get on the floaty. Hold on and let it take you. What you're doing is exhausting. We're singing about surrender. Cause we've discovered that fighting against the will of God is exhausting. And it's cool when you're a kid, but when you've been doing this a long time, you'd be like, you know what? Releasing is the way to go. And so my whole life, all of my worry, all of my vision, all of my 2026 goals, what you want is what I want. Where you go is where I go. What you believe is what I believe. What you want to say is what I want to say. I release. This is why we lift our hands when we worship Journey Church because when we lift them up, it is a sign of letting go of all the things

that I was holding on to. I'm fighting against the current. I'm done fighting. I'm ready to begin releasing. I'm ready to trust him. I'm ready to let him take me wherever he wants to go. Let this be your year, Lord. Not my year, your year. Let it be your way. Have your way, have your way. Have your way. Tell him, Lord, I love you. Oh, how I love you. Father, we love you. That's why it's simple. It's not easy, but it's why it's so simple to lift my hands, why it's so simple to sing, because I love you. I know that you love me, and I know that you've got my life and my future in your hands. So as a symbol and a sign, I lift my hands in worship, letting go of all of my expectation for this year, letting go of all of my vision for this year, letting go of all of my ambition for this year, what I think and I say have you. away because I want this whole life to be yours because I know when I let go God you move me on I know when I let go you carry me oh God it feels so good I've been climbing for so long but 2026 is the year I let you carry me carry me Lord carry me we love you Jesus in your name we pray amen and amen come on if you believe that one more time will you give God some praise this morning amen hey well before we take a seat I'd love it if you could find three people you did not drive to church with today give them a high five don't tell them let it go tell them let it

flow come on let it flow let it flow amen well who's excited to be in church today hey come on I love it I love January Church everybody excited full of hope full of passion vision ready to go dreaming big dreams amen well listen if we haven't met yet my name is JJ and alongside my wife Liz we have the honor and the privilege of serving Journey Church as its lead pastors and if you didn't know that that means you are a first-time guest and we're so glad that you chose to be with us today if you're looking for a home church look no further we think you walked into it not only because you're surrounded by the presence of God but because you are also surrounded by some of the most amazing honest open and transparent people in all of central Florida Journey Church will you prove me right by putting your hands together welcoming all of our first-time guests one last time hey and while you're at it keep it going for Journey Church online what's up Journey Church online and keep it going for all those who are currently incarcerated watching from jails and prisons throughout the United States through the Kando app so glad that you're here today with us before I get into the message I want to highlight some really cool things that are happening at our church beginning with today we have Journey College Info Day today yeah this is great so listen if you're looking to get an associate's degree a bachelor's degree do school I don't know if you know this but we actually have a fully accredited college here at our church where you can pursue degrees and whatever it is that you feel God calling you while at the same time being prepared for ministry whether that's full-time ministry pastoring preaching missionary worship or ministry in the marketplace if you want more information I would love for you to consider being a student we started this program with four and I think we've got over 30 and there'll be people in the lobby you can go speak to there'll be signs just head to the tent or find somebody and you can get connected that way also want to let you know that starting in February we are going to be having service time changes we're going to be changing times of some of our services including this one and the reason is because that parking lot is wild and one of the reasons why that parking lot is so wild is because we have 15 minutes in between services right now it's just not enough time for our gym teamers to get in a position it's not enough time for the last service to get out while the other service is coming in and we really want your experience to be great and not stressful and so while we appreciate you fighting through the crowds to get here we want to we want to make it easier and so the new service times are going to be 8 30 10 a.m 11 45 and 1 30 so 8 30 10 a.m 11 45 and 1 30

and so a little more time to sleep in if that's you but but more somebody's like yeah awesome but but but most importantly um by the time you get here the last service will have already gone out and so it'll just make your whole kids check-in experience all of that a lot smoother which is also why we launched campuses that's why we're grateful for our east orlando campus we are running out of seats in this facility we're also running out of parking spots and so if you live in waterford lakes you live near university uh college uh ucf go there all right it's close it's closer it'll help make up some space here it's also why we're launching a kasumi campus in two weeks everybody two weeks that's exciting this morning they were actually gathering the launch team was gathering out in kasumi at gateway high school and they had their first practice service so they were worshiping with us for our first service live and it was so exciting to see and get videos and pictures and it's going down it is happening and so that is for so you drive from kasumi to come out here listen we need your seat go to kasumi go to kasumi appreciate you driving an hour but you need to be a missionary in your community so we are doing this for you all right for all The Kasimianites and St. Cloudians, the Poincianers. All right, this is your campus, man. Got to hit it up. It'll be a great, great launch Sunday. And today is cool because today is day 8 of 21 days of prayer and fasting. Come on now, somebody. Day 8. Raise your hand if you've been able to attend any of our live prayer services in the evening. Awesome. Raise your hand if you joined online. Joined online? Wow, so many of us. Hey, it is so encouraging. If you've not been able to make it

or you have no idea what I'm talking about, every weeknight from 7 to 8 PM and every Saturday morning from 9 to 10 AM, we are gathering together as a community. And let me tell you something about this time. God is in the room. He is in the room. I could talk to you about God till I am blue in my face. Or you can come meet him, and he can introduce you himself. It's a beautiful experience. I want to encourage you to get there online. If not, we post everything online so you can watch it at your convenience. But God is doing something in this fast, really impacting me, especially. And what's cool about today as I get into the message is that today is officially our Vision Sunday. Vision Sunday. I love Vision Sunday. If you have never heard of it before, if you're new to our church, if this is your first Vision Sunday with us, Vision Sunday, that is one day that is literally one year in the making. Even this year, my wife and I will take time away from church during our sabbatical, and we will begin to ask the Lord for vision for our church. We stopped working on it. I take a break from preaching for a couple of weeks. And I said, God, where will you take us in the following year? And it's interesting because I'm asking God for vision. I'm asking the Lord for a word, for a phrase,

because I want to hear a picture. And that's a weird, hear a picture. But it's really not that weird. Because if I were to say the word North, or the word East, or West, if I were to say the words Los Angeles, or New York, or Miami, those aren't just words, they're destinations. They're not just phrases, they're directions. And what we've been asking God for in 2025, for 2026, and we believe we've heard, is not a word, not a phrase, but a direction, a destination. Show us, as a church, where you want us to go. Show us, as people, where you want us to go. So we're gonna release that word over the church today that will not only shape our Sundays, but more importantly, and more importantly to you, shape our Mondays. God, give us vision. Now, when it comes to vision, vision is really cool, because vision is so important, this is interesting, that it's really one of the few things that the Bible and the world can agree on. And they don't agree on much. But when it comes to vision, both the Bible and the world agree on the importance of vision. The Bible does it by talking about it. In Proverbs, chapter 29, verse 18, it says, "'Where there is no vision, people perish.'" Now, the word vision in the Hebrew is pronounced kazon, kazon, and it's two words put together. It means prophetic foresight, prophetic foresight.

Now, when I say foresight, foresight is my reference to the importance that the world brings to vision, because the world is very big on seeing things before they happen. You gotta see it, you gotta believe it. To make it happen, you gotta see it. That's why, whether you are on TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and all the other things, you are gonna find people posting, everyone, pictures of their vision board, that's right. This is the 2026 vision board that so many people are posting on their socials, and it's all the areas of their life where they are envisioning change and their health, they wanna be healthy, they're gonna start eating vegetables more. They're gonna do Pilates, Pilates is very popular right now. And then they're gonna travel, and where are they gonna travel to? Japan, everybody wants to travel to Japan right now. And they wanna get some money and finally move out of that apartment, that one bedroom, and get into that house, and we're gonna expand the family, but before we expand the family, we're gonna find my boo, we're gonna find my boo this year in 2026, and we're gonna take pictures laughing at the beach. They're always laughing, I always wonder what they're laughing about in these photos, but they're always laughing, and we have vision. And that's important, that's important

because when it comes to vision, there are always two mistakes that we make with vision. And here is the first mistake when it comes to vision, and that is not having one. The world and the Bible are clear on this, studies have been done, a university study recently found out that you are 43% more likely at accomplishing. your goal if you just write it down. 43% more likely if you just write it down. Now listen, I hope after this sermon there is not a run on Walmart for poster boards and glue sticks, okay? Please, I did not say, Pastor J.D. said I need a vision board or else I'm going to hell. I did not say that, all right? I'm not, I'm not pro-vision board, I'm not anti-vision board, but I am pro-vision. I am pro-vision, because I think that's where provision comes in, when you have a vision. Here's what I really want to get into your heart. Listen, you can't be upset if you're not where you want to be in life, if you never defined where it is you wanted to be. This is so huge, so key, so important. You got to know where you want to be, or you can't be upset if you're, if you're not there. I was counseling a 30 year old, a 30-ish year old in my office not that long ago, and I mentioned his age because I also had the privilege of being this young man's youth pastor. So I knew him when he was 16, 15, and now I get to see him in his 30s, and when he was 16 he was very wide-eyed, very hopeful about the future. Now I'm sitting with him in his 30s, and it's not the same person, and we're talking, and he's very dejected, very depressed, and he looked at me, and he said, Pastor J.J., I just, I just, I'm not where I thought I'd be in my 30s. And I said, well, where did you think you'd be? And he said, I don't know. He said, I thought I'd be happy. And here was the question that really started turning it for him. I said, okay, now define happy. And he didn't have an answer, because he had a sense for his future, but not sight for his future. He had a feeling for his future, but not a focus for his future. Listen to me. You need to define happy, or you will never have it, even if you have it. And while you're at it, don't just define happy. Define winning, or else you will be winning at business and losing at home. And while you're at it, don't just define winning. Don't just define happy. Define enough, or else you will gather, and gather, and gather, until you have so much on the outside, while you starve on the inside.

You need to know where you are going, if you ever planned on getting there. That's the first mistake when it comes to vision, not having one. But here's the second mistake, and it's a big one. Not having one is number one. Number two is having the wrong one. You got to make sure you have the right vision, not the wrong vision. Because the word kazone, remember, it was two parts. This is where the world and the Bible varies. The world says just have a vision, but the Bible says it's not just foresight. It's prophetic foresight, which means that this vision, in order to bless your life, must be God's vision. Prophetic means comes from God. So it's not enough to have a vision. You got to have God's vision for your life. And spoiler alert, disclaimer, news announcement, your vision for your life might be different than God's vision for your life. It might be different, and I want to encourage you to go after God's vision, because there are benefits of having a God vision. Number one benefit of having a God vision, you're built for it. You're built for it. Ephesians chapter 2 verse 10 says, For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Can I translate? There are things that God has prepared and built out for you to do that only you can do because God built you, uniquely you, when he built you. Which also means that there are things that you're not supposed to be doing, that he never built you to do, that you keep stay trying to do. And one of the worst feelings in the world, please catch this part, is failing and being frustrated that you are failing at something that God never equipped you to do. That's good. You're like, why am I not working? Why is this not working? Because you wasn't built for it. I told my son the other day, we were sitting down by the breakfast table, I said, son, don't believe what the world tells you. He said, what's that daddy? I said, you can't be whatever you want to be. Someone said that's bad parenting. Uh-uh, I heard that my whole life. You can be whatever you want to be. I'm 5'8 and a quarter. How many people know, I ain't making it to the NBA? And that's all right, because God didn't build me for the NBA. He built me for this. I told you, you can't be anything you want to be.

You're not built for those things. If you're not built for it, then you can't do those things. And he told me, he said, well, dad, he actually got offended. He was like, well, dad, that's not cool. What if I really like something? And I want to do it for the rest of my life, like, what if I really like something, but I'm not good at it? What if somebody wants to do something that they really like, but they're not good at it? I said, oh, that's not a problem, son. That's called a hobby. You 5'8'' like me? Don't you try out for the magic? You get a YMCA membership. You call your boys, and you ball out every Friday night, and you have a good time, but don't you make that the pursuit of your life? You ain't built for it. Oh, Pastor JJ, that's mean. That's not mean. I'm helping you out, because

there is something that you have been built for. Take my basketball. Give me a mic, because I was built for this, but I would have never discovered this if I held on to what I like, but what God did not create me for. You got to believe God created you for something. Now, some of us, it's the opposite. Some of us, we're good at it, but we hate our job, because we have the capacity for it, but not the call for it. We have the gift, but not the grace, and we're making a lot of money, but we're miserable because we're missing something. It's because we were never accomplishing God's vision for our life. We were accomplishing society's vision for our life or Mom and Dad's vision for our life, which I'm going to let you know right now, unless the Lord told you, don't come up to my boys, talk about, you're going to be a

pastor, you're going to be a preacher. God told me. If He told you that, then you go ahead and you tell them that, but if you're telling Him that just because I'm a pastor, don't you tell Him that, because I would rather Him be what God made Him to be instead of being what I am. I don't want Him to be what I am. I want Him to be what God made Him to be. If God made Him to be a hairdresser, be a hairdresser. God made you to be a wrestler, be a wrestler. God made you to be an influencer. I hope not that. I'm just playing. We got a lot of influencers in church, so I'm just messing. I love you. It's a real job. We love you. Post about us. Be what God made you to be. You're built for it, and I'm

going to tell you, you find the slipstream. You find the joy. You find the strength. You find the energy where you are finally in the thing that God created you for. You find it. Here's the next thing why it's important that you have God's vision for your life and not your vision for your life, because God dreams bigger than you. God dreams bigger than you. Ephesians chapter 3, verse 20, one of my favorite verses of all time. God can do anything you know far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams. We have a guy at our church. He's an MMA fighter, serves on the greeter team, one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and he will choke you out. I love him so much. His name is Bruno, and last year Bruno suffered a career-ending

injury. The doctors told him he would never fight again. Not only did he come back from his injury in a miraculous timeframe, he won his very first professional fight by knockout in the first round. And then he gave Jesus the glory. Don't be telling people about Jesus. Even the guy he knocks out, he's like, Jesus is the way. I love him so much, man. But the problem was he beat that guy so bad that nobody wanted to fight him, which is bad because he's getting married, and if you don't fight, you don't feed. So he was like, pastor, he's like, I've been praying. 21 days of praying and fasting, he came up to me during one of our corporate gatherings. He said, Pastor J.J., I was praying for just one opponent. Getting married, I need some income. I was asking God for just one

opponent. I said, and what happened? He said, I got a problem. I got a problem. I got a problem. I got a problem. I got a problem. I got a problem. I got a problem. I got a problem. He said, just one opponent. I said, and what happened? He said, I got a call. I got a four-fight deal on a promotion. I'm traveling there at the end of the month. I'm going to be fighting in front of millions of people. I said, wow. You know what I told them? I said, aren't you glad God did not answer your prayer? Some of us are wrestling with the Lord. Lord, why are you not answering my prayer? God, why are you not doing what I wanted you to do? Do you know why he's not answering

your prayer? Why's he not answering your prayer? Because it's too small. Because it's too small. Because the thing you've been asking him to do does not compare with the thing that he has planned for you to do. Your prayer you would miss out on his vision for your life. It's bigger. Someone say it's bigger and If we don't so that's what happens if we do have vision But if we don't have it here are the consequences proverbs 29 18 where there is no vision people perish So with vision all this amazing stuff that I just finished preaching to you about but without it perish Now the word perish in the Hebrew is pronounced para Para and it means two things and it's its definition is really confusing Because it seems like it's two different definitions, and I have no idea how they come together at least I didn't before my study One of the definitions of para is to lead or act as leader But the other definition is to be let loose or unrestrained. I thought to myself in preparation for this message What's the correlation right when I was about to give up and change the point I thought about? One of my sons who I will not name We were in New York City recently going on vacation or on Christmas time and as we're walking down the city blocks. He's about 20 paces ahead of his family Just going and the rest of it. I looked at the rest of the crew and I was like hold on guys Let's just sit back for a little bit Keeps going finally he's about half a city block down when I finally cut a bro He's like Where you going now listen, he's not the leader I'm the leader But I'm not the leader because I'm a man and I'm not the leader because I'm the father I'm the leader because I have the GPS

Like literally, bro, where are you going? You just We in New York fool These cars don't care about you But to get tooken, you know, you got to stick with us ready He was not the leader the father with the leader, but he acted as the leader and Because he acted as the leader. He was now unrestrained and He was now unrestrained and because he was unrestrained he was now in danger So how to work together Because even though I was the leader ready The reason why he was so out front out in front of us is because he was excited about New York in other words He had allowed his emotions to become the leader Let me preach this points Your Emotions make bad leaders Bad leaders Look at me. I'm gonna look in the camera. I said it do not follow your feelings Can't trust them They're good to have they're not evil and of himself, but it's only part of the information Don't just go blindly Following your feelings. Let me give you some examples Sexual attraction is good It's good that you have sexual attraction. God gave that to you, but sexual attraction can't be your leader If sexual attraction is your leader then expect to be led to loneliness expect to be led to disease Expect to be led to divorce because you can't keep it in your pants or worse Expect to be led in a match to a marriage where you're with her because her body is banging But her soul is poison and now you're with somebody that you were with because you were all eyes and all attraction But no spirit and no wisdom and no thought and no you can't it's good to have but it can't lead Greed

Greed don't let don't let greed be your leader if greed is your leader Expect to be far from God because it's the only thing God says money is not evil The love of money is the root of all evil. It's the only thing that God says you can't have two masters If you if you're gonna if one of them is gonna be in the lead is gonna take you from the other one They can't both be in the lead Hunger cannot be your leader if hunger is your leader Expect to be led to high blood pressure expect to be led to obesity expect to be led to an early grave If fear is your leader Expect to not go anywhere Because you know what fear says fear says stay put Don't move status quo stay the same don't rock the boat. Don't take any chances No, your feelings cannot lead listen to me stick with God Stay in pace with God follow him and he will take you to where you want to go And I'm saying don't get ahead of him like the unnamed son in my story and you are gonna be tempted to get ahead of him. Let me tell you why you're gonna be tempted to get ahead of him because God's vision for your life is greater than you can imagine and probably slower too. I always laugh at that point cuz I'm like you don't know. Boy cuz when God gives you a vision man he will he will give you almost everything. He will give you a picture. He'll give you excitement. He'll give you energy. He'll get you pumped. The only thing he leaves out of the bundle is a timer. But God said he sure did but did he say when? But did he say when? Man and so in order to accomplish you're gonna have to show some restraint. If a lack of vision is called unrestraint then you know what vision is? Restraint. Gotta have some restraint. I said it like this the other side of the coin of defining where you will go is deciding where you won't go. Some of y'all got 20 goals for 2026. That's a lot. It's a lot of goals and the first thing that comes to mind is how am I gonna accomplish all these goals? What am I gonna do to accomplish all these goals? But you know what is just as important of a question and what will you not do so that you can accomplish these goals? I'm a Brig LeBron James fan. He's like 60 years old

still playing basketball is wild and he's definitely not the best player in the league anymore but he's still one of the best which is wild to be that old 20 plus years in the league. Still one of the best. Still healthy. Still balling and his secret he'll tell you he says sleep. He says he sleeps over 10 hours a night. That's crazy. You know why that's crazy? Because he's a billionaire. You know what you can do with a billion dollars? A lot. Here's the kicker but you know what you how much you can't do if you're gonna try and sleep 10 hours a night? The secret to being great isn't just doing. It's restraining from doing so that you can be great. See real vision is not just a picture of the wind. It's also a picture of the way. Most people have a dream but they don't they never have the design. They have a picture of the final the final chapter but they got no chapters before the final chapter. Real vision is like a treasure map. I'm gonna put this treasure map on the screen. See it's not just a picture of the treasure. What God has for me. I can see it. I know it's coming. It's awesome. It's also a picture of the way there. You gotta have a plan and if you follow the plan you get to the treasure. If okay I know what okay that's good if I go this way and then I get there and that's awesome. Wouldn't it be great if life came with a map? Wouldn't that be cool? All my single people wouldn't it be awesome if your picture of your spouse was like right here and and then there was like a map to get there? Wouldn't that be so easy? You just follow the directions you know you'd be like one two three post on Bumble. Make three posts. Make a right at Christian mingle. Make a left at journey singles night. You know like and then you get there. Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a map to your career? A map to your purpose? A map to happiness? I got good news Journey Church. It exists. God has given it to us. Now we're getting closer to the vision for the year. Except that when God gave it to us, listen, God did not give us a line to follow. He gave us a life to model. Whoo this is good. He said I got the map. I got the map. This is how you get there. But it's not gonna be a line to follow. It's gonna be a life to model. Jesus said, John 14 6, I am the way. If you follow in my footsteps I will take you to where God's called you to be. Next verse Mark 1 17. Just follow me. If I

were to summarize Christianity in three words, it wouldn't be baptism, Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, Pentecostal. Wouldn't be any of those. If I were to summarize, I know that's three syllables but just work with me. It would be come follow me. That's it. Because Jesus was a lot of things. Jesus was a carpenter. Jesus was a healer. He was a miracle worker. He was a Savior. But you know in first century Israel, do you know what he was really first known as? A rabbi. Jesus was a rabbi. Now, a rabbi is Hebrew for teacher. Now, when I say teacher, you can't be thinking Mrs. Cohen, third grade math, it's not that. This kind of teacher was different. It's kind of like when you go to college, how if you go out of state, you leave your family and your friends, and you move, and you go, and you got to kind of start all over again, you got to start new. It's kind of like that, except imagine that the thing that you're leaving for isn't a college, it's a person. When a student became the student of a rabbi, that student would leave everything, leave their family, leave their friends, leave their finances, and they wouldn't go to college, they'd go to a person. In this case, the rabbi. In this case, Jesus. And they would walk with him, and they would, and the class that they took wasn't a class. The class that they took was life. So, the rabbi would wash his hands, and the student would watch, and the rabbi would wash his right hand first, and then his left hand second, and the student was in the background

like, right hand, left hand, right hand, got it. Right hand, write that down. Right hand, left hand. And they would eat with the big fork first, and the small, and then everything the rabbi did, the student wanted to do, because this was the only student's goal, ready? To be with the rabbi, to become like the rabbi, and to do what the rabbi did. And we had a word for those students. It wasn't student. The Bible word for student is called disciple. Hmm, now we're getting close. We're getting close to the vision. Disciple, that's good. Did you know that Jesus never called us Christians in the Bible? Like, never, ever. It never came out of his mouth. In fact, this is a fun fact. Did you know that Christian is actually a derogatory term? Like, the first person to say it was a group of people who were making fun of Christians, because Christian literally means little Christ. And so, it was like, it was derogatory. It was like, you dirty, little Christ. And it would be like akin today to, like, looking at, like, a Spanish person, be like, you, a white person, you, a black person, you, all of which I will not say, because I love my job. But you know what I'm saying? And then, over time, Christians started hearing it, and so they

were like, yeah, we are little Christ, and what? They started owning it, but when it was first said, it was actually a diss that they actually owned themselves. Christian never came out of Christ's mouth. In fact, the word Christian is only found in the Bible three times. Three times in the Bible is the word Christian. Are you ready for this? But the word disciple is found 269 times. 269 times. We're getting closer to the vision now. What God is calling you to in 2026, this is it, it's going to be hard, is going to be more than being a Christian, because Christian is a word, but following Jesus is a way of life. It's a way of life, man. Here's what I think is going to change in 2026, not what you believe. Here's what I believe is going to change in 2026, the way that you live, because I'm not just going to believe in Jesus. I'm going to look at his life, and I'm going to copy his life, and I'm going to mimic his life. I'm going to be like him. I got my associate's degree from Santa Fe Community College because it was free to go there. Then I got my bachelor's from UF. We're no Gators. We suck at football, but we won basketball. Then I got my master's at Southwestern, the summaries of God, and every degree I ever got after that was thanks to YouTube

University. Boy, I love YouTube, because I'm a visual learner. Where's all my visual learners at? Yeah, man, don't tell me how to fix my car. Show me a video, and put the tools for the link, Amazon, in the description, so I know exactly what to buy to do the job, just like you did it with that. That's how I am. Do you want to know why Jesus has been such a force for the last thousands of years? Because when he ascended to the right hand of the Father, he didn't leave us with a religion. He left us with a playbook. He said, look at what I do. Do it like that. That's the way you go. That's the way you go. Y'all going to have to hold on just a little bit, because I got four more points. All right, so just, it's the last service. They got no more cars coming in the parking lot. I'm going in. I'm going in. All right. Y'all so fun to preach, too. I love y'all so much, but now I lost my point. All right, it's okay. So, I love, because he's chosen what to do. People ask me all the time, Pastor JG, why are we doing 21 days of prayer?

I'm like, Jesus did it. They're like, no, he didn't. I'm like, you're right, he didn't. He fasted 40 days. Talking about 21. That's light work, bro. Come on now. That's light work. 21 days of prayer. I'm like, Jesus did it. I'm like, Jesus did it. I'm like, Jesus did it. I'm like, Jesus did it. I'm like, Jesus did it. I'm like, Jesus did it. I'm talking about 21. That's light work, bro. Come on now. Let's light work. 21 compared to 40. Hop on in. You got your 26 goals for 2026 that's a lot. You're going to be stressed. Can we do this Jesus' way? You know Jesus was never in a hurry. Jesus didn't run one, two, three, four, five, six, seven days. You will never find a verse in the Bible that says Jesus ran. He didn't run four. No, no, no, no. Everywhere Jesus walked, even when he used like transportation

Jesus did it. He didn't run. He didn't run 30. he got on a donkey, which is the slowest animal. It's not 20 days. Like, I know that, for that 20 days we worked this six days in one place. He could have got a camel, could have got a horse. Homie was on a donkey. He was trying to show you something. When you're in God's will, you don't got to rush to the appointment. The appointment comes to you. It happens on his time. So slow down. In 2026, yo, slow down. Well, slow down is not normal. Hustle is normal. The grind is normal. Normal isn't working. We can't do normal no more. We got to do it a different way. Every time my phone has an update, the notification, I wait like two months. Because I know once I do the update, I'm not going to know how to turn on my flashlight. Once I do the update, I'm not going to know where the apps are. I get confused because they move things around. And then I start using it after the update. And I'm like, oh, I guess that was actually a pretty good idea. It was better, but it was difficult. And I was stuck. I was comfortable in what I was doing.

And I didn't want to do it a different way, even though it was the better way. Listen to me. You know what Jesus is? Jesus is humanity's update. Following Jesus is a whole other operating system. That's why Jesus would say things like, you have heard it said, but I say unto you. You have heard it said, eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. But I say, if someone hits you on the left cheek, give them the right cheek. If someone takes your shoe, give them your shirt. Well, hold on, Jesus. That's not how we do things around here. I know. And the world is being destroyed. This is a new humanity. This is a new way of living. This is a new way of doing life. Follow me. Follow me. Follow Jesus. Because, listen, religion is boring. But following Jesus is the way to life. This thing I'm talking to you about, y'all, this is deeper than Christianity. Because religion is straight up boring. But following Jesus is the best life. John 10.10, the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come so that I may have life and have it to the full. Don't let the devil trick you. He wants you to think that the best life is with him and the boring life is with Christ. The best life is with Christ and the boring life is with him. Because with the devil, you're just going to do the same things over and over and over.

We call that bondage. But with the Jesus life, whoo, boring. I saw this meme the other day. I thought it was so funny, and I barely bring memes to church. But I had to bring this one. Put this one on the screen. He said, damn, Christian life must be so boring. Me, following the Holy Spirit's leading and following God's plan for my life. Hey, ain't that the truth? Ain't that the truth? I started this church. We started this church 10 years ago. I left my job. I left my house. Do you know what it was like and has been like for the last 10 years? You should be a Christian. It's amazing. And we're going to be in three locations. We've got four services. 2,000 people gave their lives to Christ last year. Hey, I didn't say it was easy, but it's exciting. One time Jesus was walking on water, and when he was walking on water, Peter was on the boat, and he looked over at Jesus walking on water, and he said, Jesus, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water. Which I'm like, wait a whole time. I got questions. So tell me, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water. Like question number one, are there not easier ways to prove his identity? Like if I'm Peter, I'm like, Jesus, is that you? He's like, yeah.

I'm like, all right, if it's really you, what's my mom's name? No, the maiden one, the maiden one. What's my mom's name? I'm Peter. I'm giving Jesus some, like, Internet security questions. Like, what was the name of my first pet? Jesus, if it's really you. But Jesus says, if it's really you, tell me to walk on the water to you. Why would Peter think that he could walk on water if Jesus was walking on water? Because if that's my rabbi, and I am with my rabbi, and I become like my rabbi, then the rule states, if I'm with my rabbi and I become like my rabbi, I can do what my rabbi did. So if Jesus is walking on water, I can walk on water. If Jesus healed people, I can heal people. If Jesus opened the eyes of the blind, I can open the eyes of the blind. This is your year in 2026 where you start doing the things that Jesus did. Jesus changed the world, I can change the world. Jesus came up out of the grave, then one day I, too, will come up out of the grave because that's my rabbi. I followed him. I can do what Jesus did. You can do what Jesus did. Jesus Follow Jesus because life is hard but following Jesus is the way through life. It's the way through life. It's the way through life You name a problem Following Jesus is the answer. climate change Addiction global war sex trafficking financial struggles. You know what Jesus says to all of it Follow me Follow me Follow me. It's the way out. Follow me. I got the answer do what I did Walk like I walk love like I love talk like I talk. This is the answer follow me Last thing Jesus said before he went to heaven Matthew 20 and 19 therefore go and make disciples of all nations Baptizing them in the name of the Father went to that next Sunday baptizing them in the name of the Father Son the Holy Spirit Look what it said make what? Make what? He never asked us to be Christians And he never told us to make Christians He asked us to become disciples and to make Disciples and this is important because we have created a third category in church today See if you look at the New Testament, there was only two categories of people Followers and the crowd every time Jesus did a miracle there were his followers And these were the people that walked with Jesus that became like Jesus that did what Jesus did and there are other people to crowd Now the crowd sometimes the crowd did not like Jesus But there were other people in the crowd who did like Jesus when Jesus did miracles They did they clap for Jesus when Jesus was handing out free bread and fish feeding 5,000 people the crowd Yeah, sure. I'll take some of that. That's cool, but they never followed and Unfortunately, listen, we have created a third category in the world and in the church and in 2026 we're coming for it That third category. Are you ready? Here's what it's called Christian Because you got your followers who are like I'm gonna do exactly what you just did and then you got the crowd who's like I'm trying to figure this out, but then we got other people listen that are like and this could be you I know I was here. I like Jesus. Now. In fact, I love Jesus. I believe in Jesus. I believe in heaven I believe in hell. I'm trying to be a good person. Like I

Love Jesus. He's cool. I'm just not going to follow him I'm just not going to do what he did. I'm not gonna live it. I'm gonna do my way. I Love Jesus, and if he wants to bless me who bless me, I believe hopefully I see you have it But I'm gonna live life my way and guys that category doesn't exist. You got to make a choice today You either a follower or you in the crowd now if you in the crowd don't feel guilty Don't feel I'm not picking up Amy. I'm glad you in the crowd because you keep coming You keep coming and make that decision, but when you make a decision it will no longer be a decision to believe in Jesus It will be a decision to follow Jesus to follow Jesus Over 2,000 people gave their lives to Christ last year this year We hope to hit 10,000 all 10 years put together of our church because we turn in 10 at the end of this year and this is what God Put in my heart. This is the year decisions become disciples Decisions Decisions become disciples What does that mean for me and my family and my kids and my wife and my husband? Here's what it means for you and your family and your husband and your wife and your kids This is the year not I believe in Jesus. This is the year I followed Jesus Are you ready for the vision for this year? Well, we had pray first a couple years ago. We have foundations built different. We had into the cloud We had holy last year This year is it's not sexy. It's it's not you probably not gonna repost it. It don't rhyme it is The graphic is just a word I believe it with all my heart. This is what God wants for you this year in 2026. I heard the Lord say Follow me Follow me and I know that seems simple and it is But simple and easier two different things It's simple, but you really become a follower here's what it takes it takes rearranging your whole life

Around the way Christ rearranged his life. It's looking at Jesus on a model and going. Okay, how do I Be him and we're gonna be talking about that all year. It's gonna have so much of an impact on your life and here's the best part y'all when when when Jesus said come follow me The first word was come. It was an invitation. Here's what I love about following Jesus, the last thing, and I'll close up. Following Jesus is an invitation. It's an invitation to Peter, nonetheless. Peter was the first person I heard. Peter who chopped off some dude's ear because he got angry. Peter who cussed three times. I don't know no Jesus. That's what it said. The Bible said he cussed, he blasphemed, three times denying Christ. Peter, who was just always talking sideways. And I'm so glad that the first person Jesus picked was Peter, because if he picked Peter, we good. I just need you to know, we say make Jesus accessible to anyone, because Jesus died for the anyones. Wherever you are today in the spectrum of this thing called faith, wherever you are, you have been invited to follow Jesus. Last thing, and then we're gonna pray. Who is this year for? 2026 is for those that have been wondering about Jesus that have never followed him before.

What does it mean to really follow? You're in the perfect room, you're in the perfect year. Take your time, you ought to, because the Bible says you gotta count the cost before following. So I need you to know what this is before you sign up for it. You say, well, all you said salvation was free, then you try to tell me to stop drinking. People tell me that, and I'm like, hey, Jesus saving you is free. Following Jesus costs. So I want you to know everything that he talks about. You've been a Christian, and you want to add a new level of intentionality to your spiritual formation. Live on purpose, not on accident. This year is for you, and this is where my heart goes out to you the most, because I think I'm you. Listen, if you're a longtime follower, but you've hit a plateau, and you're stuck, and you ache to be unstuck, this year is for you. You want a deeper level of meaning. You want to close the gap between your life and the Jesus life. You've been Martha serving for years, but you're ready to be a Mary sitting by the feet of Jesus. You've been Peter in ministry working, but you're ready to become a John, who he didn't just work with Jesus, he reclined on Jesus.

He was the beloved. He just spent time with Jesus. Come, follow me. I want to do two prayers, and I want to start with one. Then before we leave, I'm going to end this service in a real special way. But if you're in this room today, and you hear that invitation to come, and you don't have a relationship with Christ, like you were invited to church today, like this whole Jesus thing is brand new to you. You're not even all quite sure what it means, but you hear the invitation, and you want to respond, and you say, I need Jesus in my life. I'm ready to make him first. I'm ready to follow him. If that's you, every head bowed, every eye closed on the count of three, would you raise your right hand and just be like, on the count of three, I need Jesus. I hear him calling me, and today I decide I'm coming. All over this room, one, two, three. If that's you right now, go, I see your hand, sir. I see your hand, ma'am, in the front. I see your hand all the way in the back. I see your hand, little man, in the corner of the room. I see your hand in additional seating, standing throughout the whole sermon. I hear that, I can see that hand. Praise God.

You can put your hand down, whether you raised it or not. Would everybody do me a favor and pray this prayer out loud? Let's just say, Father God, I hear you call. I hear you say, come, I'm coming. I'm bringing all my sin, all my shame, all my doubts, all my fears, all my worries. I'm laying them at your feet. And I will follow you wherever you lead. Be my Savior and my Lord. I want you to decide to follow Jesus. And so I want to make this last prayer for everyone, but I want to do it in the way of a song. So we're going to sing this prayer to God. And it's an oldie, it's a church hymn written a long time ago, but it still hits, man. And today it summarizes 2026. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to follow. And so let's sing it.
