We are a church on a mission, a mission to be disciples, to be disciples. The long hallow, this is what we are, what we do, empowering every person, every age, every place in their life, to live the call of God that I put in their heart, to follow Jesus and to be disciples every day. Disciple, it was not a quarter, an hour a week, it is the word of God forming who we are, where we live and work. In the Old Testament, Joshua made a statement that has echoed from generation to generation, In the Old Testament, Joshua made a statement that has echoed from generation to generation, a declaration about his family, his streets, his living room, his work. I want to speak to you today. Are you Pastor Robby? No. He is coming the other week, just in case there is a confusion, if I am Pastor Robby or not. No. We welcome Gallatin and those who listen to us on PandoApp. I am grateful for Pastor Robby. It is so true. For more than 10 years, I have been in the front row, seeing his example, the humility he has and the passion he has for the Word of God. I appreciate how he directs it. Thank you, Pastor Robby, for the opportunity today. Today, we are going to talk about the family, this summer that is coming to an end, and the school is about to begin. Everyone is as happy as they expected, except for the parents, right? What is the Ministry of Family? It is birth to the 12th grade, that we equip the boys to grow, to discipline them, to read the Word of God, to baptize them. We want to equip the family as well. We have all these services here. So, we were talking about the work team. We have to celebrate what God has done, and you saw this video. So, I want to share some of these things with you. Some of the numbers for this summer, because each number has a name, and a name has a soul, and God has done incredible things this summer. The Ministry of Children had two big events, Kids Camp and Kids Con. More than 1,700 children were involved in these events. They went to the camp. Our volunteers, who make this possible, incredible leaders, 978 volunteers who made this possible, thank you for serving and giving to the ministry. We saw fruits, like many students giving their lives to Christ, dozens and dozens of baptisms.
Some of our students felt the call to go to the ministry full time. When we are here on Family Day, many of us agree that the day of the annual photograph has arrived. Has anyone already taken the annual family photograph? There are some, don't judge those who haven't done it. What is that photograph? That is the photograph that we sent...
Yo no puedo hacerlo. No sabemos por qué él no quiso hacerlo. Los teólogos dicen que es muy egoísta. Yo no sé qué pasó.
Nuestros hijos.
No heredan nuestras convicciones, solo nuestras prioridades, dijo alguien. Él no pecó.
Aminabad, Aminabad the father of Nasson, Nasson the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, Boaz the father of Obed, Obed the father of Isaiah, and Isaiah the father of David. If we see this genealogy, who comes from the lineage of David? Jesus! So he is building this story that eventually leads to the Messiah. I don't want this to be lost. Ruth did not know the plan of God that was to come. She was just being obedient. Boaz was being the role of obedience, of redeeming. And this is how God always works. He requires normal fidelity to do extraordinary things. He is not only rescuing a family, he is rewriting a story for the whole world. Fathers, listen to me. God is rewriting history, but you fathers are writing a legacy. Of course, we are talking about the Messiah, but we, the fathers, have that responsibility to write our own legacy. When you are in your family, you are not only surviving, but you are giving
shape to your family. We absolutely have to run away from what people say, I don't have time for spiritual things. No, that should be the most important thing. What is leaving a legacy? Do you think it is monetary? I want you to see it from a spiritual perspective. Those things are fine, monetary things, but I am not talking about that legacy. A legacy is not the wealth of the family that we leave behind, and if you can do it, thank God. Your legacy is not the economic legacy that is lost after two generations. Your legacy, your true legacy, is the story that people tell you, because of your faithfulness, your love for Jesus, because you shared with others a different story than the one that would have been told if you had not followed Jesus. Don't you want to influence your children to leave a spiritual legacy that they can look back on after you have left and say, thank you my father, I am here in the church following Christ. And how does this happen? How can we leave a legacy from one day to the next? No! That story is written as each day goes by. It takes time, it takes dedication. I encourage you to take this stance in front of God. God has not changed. He has changed history. He continues to change history. If your actions are not in line with God, now tell him, forgive me that I have been living a life that has not been according to your will, but help me now to repent and change the course of my life.
The second is a stance of obedience. I want what you want for my family or the people around me. I want to listen to you, to obey you. I want to direct the people around me according to your will. This is how we leave a legacy. God, I am listening and I obey. Last week, I was with students and leaders. We are on a trip to Europe. And the whole idea of this trip is to learn leadership. I went to school following Jesus. So the students and I went on this trip to London, Normandy, Paris, and Oxford. We learned leadership lessons. When we were on that trip, we saw ancient churches. It's an incredible church that was built in the year 1300. And it's brick and cement. When it was moving in Europe, particularly in France, you know, because we've heard it a lot, Christianity almost doesn't exist. France is far from Christianity. So we visited these churches and we were in awe of these constructions, these impressive ancient buildings. But on the spiritual side, it almost breaks your heart because no one is going to experience God, to hear His voice, to be a community, but to admire the architecture. And I asked myself, what's going on? And this is the truth. In some place in Europe, someone, when they were... Someone stopped disciplining. And it reminded me of Judges chapter 2. The Israelites had experienced all the goodness of God, the greatness of God. And after Joshua came to be with God, two generations later, he says, they didn't know who the Lord was and what He had done for them.
Sharing our faith, that's why God calls us to be disciplers. I remember that our children don't inherit our convictions, but our priorities. God doesn't allow us to be people who don't teach our children their words with priority. I know it can be difficult. And our response must be our attitude before God. Two of the things I hear the most from my parents is that we don't have time, I don't know how to do it. But let me tell you two things. Make your faith a priority. When the pastor says, enter the word until the word is part of you, it will naturally impact those around you. Believe! When you go and read the word, it's not something light, it's God who is entering your life. And that's why you can share it with others. Have conversations with your children, the difficulties they have, or how God is working in their faith. Number two, discipline your children. Let yourself be disciplined too. It's difficult to discipline others when you're not being disciplined. So if you have not been disciplined, I encourage you to look for someone to be disciplined so that you can discipline others around you. Bring life to you, no matter what step in your life you are going through. And when you seek to be disciplined, you learn from others and they learn from you. You don't have to do this alone. There are many people who are willing to do it and participate with you in this journey to grow the next generation. If for some reason, in the middle of all this, you say, Jeff, are you encouraging me to be perfect? Of course not, no perfection. What I am encouraging you to do is to progress, to progress, to improve, to take the first step, the second step. You ask God and say, God, I need to give up. You ask God if you want more wisdom.
God says the word that you ask of him and he gives you in abundance. We are all together in this, in this walk in Christ. Today you should be writing your first page of your legacy if you haven't already. Do it today. God doesn't care where you are right now in your walk with Christ. If you say my life is a mess, God can change it. If you think about your family, you say it's a mess. God can rewrite it. He has been doing it and he is doing it. Let's pray together. I'm going to give you a moment to evaluate your heart. If God has touched your heart in some way, God is going to give you the opportunity to respond according to what he puts in you. According to how he has spoken to you during this service. In whatever way, don't leave these doors without talking to him. Take a moment with him right now. Father in heaven, you are good. Thank you for Jesus who redeems us. Thank you for rewriting stories. Thank you for rewriting stories. Because you can only rewrite our history. Lord, today we humbly come to you. We know there are things you want to change. Things about us that we don't even know about ourselves. We want to bring them closer, influence our children, our families, the people around us. Give us honesty in front of you. To develop convictions, to come closer to you. Give us the courage to do what you put in our hearts. Let's do it. In the name of Jesus.
