Day 33: You are not your best day either. | The Walk Out
Yesterday’s truth has a flip side that nobody talks about.
TODAY’S TRUTH You are not your best day. Just like the worst day isn’t your name, the best day isn’t either.
THE READ “For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” — 1 Corinthians 4:7
In your own words — what's this saying to you?
THE REAL We get this one wrong too. The other direction.
A lot of us have a peak. The award. The promotion. The day we got married. The kid being born. The big game. The clean year. We point to that as proof that we have value. Look — I did this thing. I am the thing I did at my best.
The problem is the same as the worst-day problem. We’re collapsing what we did into what we are. We’re making our identity dependent on the moment.
What happens when the moment fades? What happens when the marriage falls apart, the job goes away, the kid grows up and stops calling, the clean streak breaks? If the best day was your identity, you’re now no one.
You weren’t no one then. You aren’t no one now.
The best day was a thing that happened. Maybe a thing you did. Maybe a thing God did through you. It wasn’t the totality of who you are any more than the worst day was.
Stop trying to live up to your best day. Stop measuring today against it. Stop being disappointed in yourself because today isn’t that day.
You are loved on the best day. You are loved on the day after, when the energy’s gone. You are loved today, whatever today is.
PULL UP What’s your best day? Have you been trying to live up to it ever since? What if today doesn’t have to be that?
Write it out — don't just think it.
THE MOVE Today, do something small that has nothing to do with proving anything. Just because. Eat something slowly. Sit somewhere. Talk to someone without an agenda.
Did it today? ☐ Yes ☐ Not yet — what happened when you did?
TRACK IT What did you do?
