DADDY YANKEE speaks inside Angola! (PANDO EXCLUSIVE)
What happens when one of the biggest names in music steps onto prison ground, not to perform, but to share his faith?
In this powerful moment, Daddy Yankee stands before 2,000 incarcerated men at Angola State Prison during the rodeo and boldly shares his testimony. From global fame and success to surrendering his life fully to Jesus, his story is a reminder that no platform, past, or person is beyond the reach of God’s grace.
As his words echo across the rodeo grounds, you can feel the weight of truth, redemption, and hope settling over the crowd. Lives are being stirred. Hearts are opening. And chains—both seen and unseen, are beginning to break.
This is what God does. He meets us right where we are.
At God Behind Bars, we believe no one is too far gone and no place is too dark for the light of Jesus to shine.
It is my honor right now to welcome Raymond Ayala, a.k.a. Daddy Yankee, to the stage. Will you give him a warm welcome? Thank you. Thank you for having me here. My name is Raymond Ayala. Coming from Puerto Rico. All my Puerto Ricans, I love you guys. All my Latinos, everyone here. You know, it's all about love. And this is me for the first time actually giving my message in English. I come from Puerto Rico, which is my main language, which is Spanish. But I will try to do my best. Also, we're waiting for the pastor, right? Pastor Jose, right here, my man. Give him a round of applause. Thank you. I just came from Puerto Rico to share my testimony with you guys. It's a wonderful feeling to be here in the name of the Lord. Like, I've been visiting a lot of my friends in the same situations, so I'm related with you guys. And I know a lot of the struggles. I know the backgrounds a lot. But what brought me here is the love of Jesus Christ. You know, I received a news this week that I got the person of the year to the 2026 Grammys. That's awesome. That's great news. And you know what, Jose? In another life today, I had to be throwing a big party for that.
I should be throwing a big party. Right? With that great news. But I have a bigger news. It's not about me anymore. It's about the Lord. It's about Jesus. So, he brought me here to tell you guys that you guys are important to him and your life has a lot of value. And he told me, Raymond, you know this is a big mission. That in another place you should be doing a lot of stuff, but right now it's all about me. And I'm just sharing the kingdom with you guys, the hope. I'm sharing the love. And I'm sharing the unity of Jesus Christ. Amen, Jose. So, the mic is on? One, two. Ah, that's it. So, you know what? I just met the pastor here, and he was telling me the story. I was like, I was impacted by him. And I told him, let's do this very natural because I want to have just a conversation with you. Simple conversation like how you met Jesus and how I met Jesus. So, buenos dias, hermanos. Good morning, brothers and sisters. My name is Jose Manuel Icona. And I will address my brother's question. Of course.
So, your question is how I came to meet the Lord. How you met the Lord, yeah. In 2011, July 11, 2011, when my heart felt that it could not turn to nowhere else. Anything that I was accustomed in the world. When I tried everything in life to do a change, a positive change in my life. I always came back to that very point that I wanted to get away from. Siempre, siempre. I tried everything. Not everything, but most of the things the world has to offer. And I never found anything, anything that will last a change, a positive change in my life. Nunca pude encontrar algo que positivamente podría cambiar mi vida on to that day. When I sincerely cry out to God, the God that I didn't know, the God that I didn't desire, the God that I didn't want, the God I didn't want, nothing to do with my life, but I cry out on to him. And he was there and he heard me. So yo llame al señor, al señor que yo no conocía, el señor que no deseaba, el señor que no quería en mi vida, pero cuando llame a él, él estaba allí para contestarme. And so since that moment, I became something new, something that I cannot explain even to this day. Amen. Glory to God. And the way that I came to the Lord was that I knew him when I was 19, and I survived a lot of stuff, and I was glad of his mercy, the way he carried me, and yes. Jesus dice que de la manera que él vino a conocer al Señor Jesucristo, la manera como él ha sido llevado para el Señor. Amen. Aquí para mis latinos, yo vine desde los 19 años trabajando, but right after that, when I was, you know, 19, you know, yo era una persona muy impulsiva, very impulsive kid. So desde que yo tenía 19 años, yo era una persona muy impulsiva.
Y una de las palabras que me tocó también en el camino, que la vengo a compartir con ellos, one of the words that touched me in the Scripture that I want to share with you guys is John 8, 36. So if the Son gives you freedom, you will become free indeed. Amen. Amen. Aquí hay personas que están presos, pero todos aquí no están verdaderamente cautivos. He said there are people here that are in prison, but not all of us in here are in prison. Amen. Pastor, ¿Usted es una persona libre? Absolutamente. Are you feel free? I am free. Amen. I am free. Absolutely. Absolutamente, yes. Y también hay gente afuera caminando libre, pero viviendo en esclavitud porque están presos por dentro. But there are also people in the outside, in the outside world that they might be physically free, but they're in captivity inside of them. I was one of them. Yo era uno de ellos. Yo era uno de ellos. Y la presencia de Cristo me hizo libre.
And the presence of Christ set me free. Porque la peor prisión no tiene barrotes. Because the worst prison is not with bars and stuff. Está en el corazón. It's in the heart. Tal vez aquí hay personas que están atados por decisiones. Maybe they got people here that are bound by decisions. Atados por errores. Bound by errors of life. Atados por pensamientos. Bound by bad thoughts. Pero la palabra en Juan 10, 10. But the Word of God in John chapter 10, 10. Dice, yo he venido para que tengan vida y para que la tengan en abundancia. I have come for you to have life and to have it in abundance. Hallelujah. Jesús no vino a arreglar un poco tu vida. Jesus did not came to just fix a little bit of your life. Vino a darte una vida nueva. He came to give you a brand new life. Eso significa. That means. Que la verdadera vida comienza. That the true life begins. When Jesus comes in your heart, it doesn't matter what place you may find yourself to be in, I am free. He said that I was in the world, but I was bound, I was not free, and now he's sharing the same freedom that I have. Amen, brother. Amen. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah.
Jesus was arrested. He was wrongfully accused. He was judged. It was condemned. He understands and knows what it is to be in the place of many of us here. And he took upon your place and my place, even though he was innocent, because of the love that he has for you and I. To restore your life through him so we can find a new life with our Heavenly Father. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Glory to God. Glory to God. John 8-11, it says a powerful word. He said that I don't even condemn you. He said go and sin no more. So in other words, God is not condemning you. He's giving you a new opportunity. Jesus took your place and our place so he can give you a new opportunity to life. To bring a radical change so you can become light in the midst of darkness and to give you a life with purpose even though you are in prison. Amen. When I used to speak with my friends, when I used to visit them in prison, I always used to tell them something very important. It doesn't matter where you're at. You can be an influence to your family. You can be a good influence to your friends. Even though you may find yourself alone, you can become the greatest influence for you and your life. If you allow Jesus to govern your life. Amen. The grace is from Christ. Many believe that God is not here. Many believe that I went so far away from God that there was no point to return.
And that's what I used to tell my friends, that it felt like that. But Romans chapter 5 20 says, where sin abounds, the grace of God over abounds. Hallelujah. The grace of God, it doesn't stop at the door of a prison. The grace of God enter into the cell, whatever you may be, and even to eternity. John 8 36 says, if the cell make you free, he didn't say, That I'm going to make you better, that I'm just going to give you an opportunity, because that's what He does, but He emphasizes that I'm going to make you free. Free from guilt, free from shame, free from condemnation, and free from your past. The system can take over your body, but Christ free your soul. Hallelujah, hallelujah. He said 2 Corinthians 5.17 says something very powerful. He that is in Christ is a new creature. The chapter doesn't define your last chapter. I want you to know that it doesn't matter what has happened in your life. There's nothing that we as humans that has done in our life that can separate us from the love of God. Therefore, I can say to all of you, my brothers, that what I have learned, that the worst jail is not the one built out of concrete, it's the one in the soul. God doesn't see you as the system sees you. Maybe our errors, they're part of our story, but not of our identity. You may be here, and even then you can become free. Jesus did not come to condemn you. He came to rescue you. Hallelujah. Pastor, we were sharing these stories, these beautiful stories, and we were talking backstage. And what is the most thing, impactful, that Jesus has done for you? So, just to be able to know. And we're going to sit down, brothers. Let's sit down. They have a conversation. Just to know that after I have tried everything in the world to become what I am now. And nothing in the world was ever able to provide me what I now have for 15 years.
It's priceless. It's maravilloso. I also want to share that when I used to live, I mean, be on the street, free. I used to experience many depression and anxiety. And what I can share with all of you, brothers, is what helped me the most is the scripture of God. Being connected with Him. Pray, taking care of my body, but first of all, taking care of my spirit. And that's it. Thanks to Jesus Christ. that I still struggling that's it but he helped me every day every day to be a better person and I think that is the most beautiful thing that Jesus have done in my life and that's the testimony that I wanted to share with you guys that Jesus is everything Jesus is everything Jesus give you hope Jesus gave me a new purpose even though people a lot of there see me as a superstar whatever I see myself as a completely human being like you guys and that's is the reason that I'm here because I represent the kingdom and the kingdom is not about love it's about hope it's about testimony it's about the Spirit of God and I want everybody who don't know Jesus I want them to know how that feels how feels to be saved how is to be to have a new mentality a renewed spirit and spread the love with the entire world that's what I'm talking about the real I mean are you guys you guys serve the Lord I mean I will tell you part of the kingdom you're my brothers all of you are my brothers but it's how you feel being being part of the kingdom how you feel being part of the kingdom less renewed brand-new we're brothers in Christ I feel free in the name of the Lord myself as well are we sharing the same love with your brothers here what words you can say to them bless God bless you praise him worship him magnify him that's right glory I know my brother god bless god bless you brother let's share the lay the love of Jesus Christ here that's what I'm doing basically I see you are my brothers in the kingdom but you guys have a bigger purpose here is to
keep spreading and sharing the love for Jesus Christ because I came from one day but you guys can share this love with your brothers here to give you a new life a new purpose and to give you that light that bright in the middle of the darkness that's the way that I see you guys God is love God bless you guys Dios los bendiga mucho a mis hermanos todos ustedes gracias papito god bless Dios te bendiga. Boris dime. Que paso papá so um así estamos nosotros trabajando y así quería trabajar con ustedes de cerca I wanted to do that that's how many like there's more Latinos here oh my where the Latinos are thank you and also we sharing this with everybody because the kingdom we're all invited that is the reason that I wanted to hug you brother because we're one in the kingdom there's no segregation in the kingdom we are one we're one yeah that's it and that's the way we change in life when Jesus come to our hearts we make an impact not only in your life with everybody and I just want to say that Jesus helped me out to save my life my mental health I'm working out I don't drink I don't smoke you know I always have consistent habits and that's the only way that you can make a big impact in your life and for the others but remember one thing Jesus is the captain Jesus is the captain he's Everything. All right? The big boss, they used to call me like that. The big boss is our God. He's the really God. So, this is my testimony. I'll be saved for Jesus. I come from the trenches, but I gotta say that Jesus is everything. I try to do my best in English. I hope you like it. I hope I'm just transparent. This is the way, the truth, and the life. That's it. And no one, no one, no one can come to the Father said through him. He's the only way. Not just one way or another way, but the only way. Amen. He said that one of the scenes that has captivated his life is when Jesus is on the cross, and you have two teeth. One accusing him, well, both of them, but one repented,
and then Jesus turned to the one that had repented and changed your heart. Today, I can assure you today, you're going to share eternal life with me. You're going to be in a paradise with me. So, what he says is that it doesn't matter where we are, as long as God appears to us and is real. And it's real because he is real. If there is anyone, anything in life that I have come to experience that is real, it's not even myself. It's not even this. It's God, bro. It's the Lord, and the one that can change you forever. The one that can transform your heart. Can I just add this? The one that can ever change you, it doesn't matter where you are. Like he's been telling us, it's Jesus. Amen. And it's for a purpose. It's for a plan. It's for a great goal, and that goal is not yourself, Flash. That goal is not even anything besides his gracious love for the whole humanity, for our communities here in Angola and beyond these walls. God saved us because he has a purpose for each one of us life, and every one of us has a plan from God, not from the system, not from yourself, not from the court, but from Jesus Christ. And that is to change the hearts of men, the hearts of people. And he's going to do it through you if you're just willing to allow him to do it. And I find no greater purpose in my life just to allow my Lord to do that through me. He wants to do that through you, man. Amen. Powerful words. And the word that captivated me is like, he said, from today. Let me emphasize that. He's not saying tomorrow. He's saying from today. From today. Today is a day. This is not coincidence. God prepared this day for you who are receiving this call today. So let's make sure that we pray for those people who want to accept the call today. Who are the people who are willing to change their life today? Okay, this is the end of the conversation. Jesus told him, today you're going to be part of the eternal life. You're going to be part of the kingdom.
