Crispus Cremus

In his message “Crispus Cremus,” Pastor Ed Young used the Krispy Kreme doughnut-making process to illustrate the biblical practice of baptism. Just as doughnuts are fully immersed and transformed, baptism is a full immersion, reflecting the original Greek word baptizeo, meaning “to immerse.” Pastor Young emphasized that baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision, following salvation as a public declaration of faith. He explained that because baptism is a personal response to Jesus, it’s reserved for those who can make a conscious choice, rather than infants. Through immersion, baptism identifies us with Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection, symbolizing new life in Him. As an act of obedience, baptism is the essential first step after salvation, marking our commitment to live a transformed life in Christ.
