The fact that you’re here… that you even pressed play… that matters more than you think.

Some of you didn’t plan to be here. Some of you are just curious. Some of you are wondering if anything in your life can actually change.

This isn’t going to be a typical Bible study. We’re not just going to go through information or try to check boxes. We’re going to step back and look at the bigger picture—how the whole Bible fits together, and what it actually means for your life right now.

Because this isn’t just a book.
It’s a story… and it’s still being written.
And the truth is—you’re not outside of it.

As we go through this journey, you’ll start to see who God really is… not just in words, but in the way He meets people right where they are.

My prayer is simple:

That something starts to come alive in you. That what felt confusing starts to make sense. And that you begin to see that your life isn’t over—God is still working.

So don’t overthink this.

Welcome to Coming to Life, a one-year journey through God's Word. My name is Katie Haack, and I want you to read your Bible. Hebrews 4.12 tells us the Bible is living and active. This is a phenomenon known as inspiration. That word in Latin means to physically breathe into. When God breathed into Adam, he came to life. When you read your Bible, your spirit begins coming to life. The problem is, too many Christians don't read the Word. They don't read it because they don't understand it. It can be overwhelming, or maybe it doesn't make sense. People don't know how to piece it together. Or the image of God that they get when they read it is one that they don't actually like. The first time I decided I wanted to read the Bible cover to cover, I started with the New Testament because that seemed easier. I began with Matthew and worked my way through Revelation. It really was just about getting through it. I didn't totally understand what I was reading, but the stories of Jesus were fun, and I loved reading about how he saved me and how we'll be victorious in the end. Then I started at the Old Testament. Genesis was okay, but it really went downhill from there. The more I read, the more confused I became. I saw a God that appeared to be a God of judgment and harshness and law and punishment. I didn't understand his justice because I didn't understand his love. And I couldn't figure out how that fit with the New Testament. I got to Jeremiah and stopped. I thought, I'm not even sure I like this God I'm reading about. So I quit reading. Years went by before I picked up my Bible again. I think that happens to a lot of us. I think that's a common problem.

I believe that we need an overall understanding of Scripture and what each book means. We need to know who wrote it and who it was written to, what was happening at that time in history, and where it fits into God's ultimate story. That way we can understand who God is and his purpose for giving us his word. Because if we don't comprehend what we're reading, let's be honest, we're not going to read it. God has this beautiful, amazing story for us, this guide to life. But more than that, God is the Bible. John 1.1 tells us that Jesus is the word and that Jesus is God. And it may not make sense to you as we go, but as we go on this journey, it will. Jesus was the word, the word was with God, and the word was God. So as you open his word, he begins to speak to you and he shows you great and mighty things. He speaks to your spirit and beautiful, amazing things happen as you begin coming to life. I want to go on this journey with you. As you start to realize why he gave you this book and how each piece fits together with all the other books, how they fit into history, but most importantly, how they fit into your life. Because the Bible is written for you. No one else but you. God is speaking directly to you. And as you dig in, you will begin coming to life. And I'm so excited to be a part of your journey. So here's how it works. I will post two videos every week on my website. There's a workbook that goes along with this study, although you do not have to purchase the workbook if you just want to watch the videos and gain some knowledge. But the workbook is a really cool tool. God literally gave me the idea for it. I sat down and had it pretty much created in a matter of hours. It basically explains how the Bible is divided into sections, not just Old Testament and

New Testament. There will be a suggested reading plan to go through. That way you can get through the entire Bible in a year. No, you do not have to follow it. You go at your own speed because it is not about rushing through. I want it to sink in. You may decide that you want to reread something 10 times. You may want to focus on one verse at a time. It's not about checking off a box that you've gotten it read. It's just about getting into the word. So do not feel obligated to follow. Honestly, my videos aren't going to follow it perfectly either, because some books take a day to read and some take weeks. Each book will get its own page of questions in the workbook. Some are about what I teach in the videos, but then you're encouraged to read the book and answer some questions with your personal thoughts and reflections about what you read. Maybe a person, a story, or a theme that really stood out to you, and you're encouraged to think about how it applies to your life. Then you'll be able to summarize that chapter in your own words. I believe when you write down your summary, you will gain a better understanding. And when you decide to reread that chapter later, it will help you dig in because you'll have your own personal notes about what it means. So again, I'll be posting two videos every single week. They will go through each of the 66 books of the Bible. They'll give you an overview of that book, what it's about, who wrote it, what's going on in history, why it's important, and how it fits into the overall story. I'll pull a few things out that I find interesting that might help you also get a better grasp of that book. I'm also gonna do some bonus videos. and what those encompass. I'm gonna break down the Bible into different sections. I'm gonna pick out some key people. I'm even going to have some guest speakers come in as well to give you a little variety. These will be all mixed in throughout the year. And I believe at the end of the year, with the videos and the workbook, you will have a great understanding of the basics. Now I want to tell you, and I'm telling you this not to scare you, but to excite you, God is massive. He is so deep. He is so amazing and so wonderful. I believe that you will get to spend all of eternity trying to know him deeper and better. So you will not have a perfect understanding of everything after this one year. My goal is just to get you some knowledge of the basics, God's fundamental story. Once you have that, it will build the foundation of your faith. It will show you who God is, what his character is like, what Jesus did for you, how he will be victorious. And once you have that basic foundation, you can go back and dig in deeper. Things will begin fitting together and you'll be able to comprehend what you are studying

in a much more effective way. It's going to be awesome. You are going to grow so much deeper in your relationship with him. I cannot wait. So let's get started.
