Through your generosity, $1,345,000 was invested into our international ministries, empowering leaders, planting churches, feeding families, educating children, and proclaiming the gospel throughout the nations like never before. And the impact is global. Grace International now ministers in 131 nations, with Egypt and Vietnam newly added this year. We are now a family of 5,900 churches worldwide, serving 550,000 members. And beyond that, we minister to over 1,900 additional churches not yet affiliated with Grace International. This year alone, 44,000 people received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In 2025, 352 men, women, and youth participated in 26 mission trips across 13 nations. They served through outreach events, feeding programs, medical services, construction projects, and leadership training. And every single one returned changed with enlarged vision and deeper commitment to the gospel of the kingdom. We encourage every pastor to actively promote our 2026 mission trips. Amen Alright, praise God I want to remind you that the Discipleship class number 5 Is right after service at 12.15 Usually it's at 12.30 It'll be at 12.15 if you want to do the discipleship class And basically it's going to teach you about daily devotional And that's going to be in the P.O.B.S. classroom Today's message is titled They Missed Him Then Don't Miss Him Now They Missed Him Then Don't Miss Him Now We're going to go to the gospel of John chapter 5 verse 39 Is where we're going to start off John chapter 5 verse 39 John 5.39 And before we start I just want to appreciate Those that have gone through the discipleship classes Those that are completing the discipleship classes You know like what I said earlier about I've never been in this place And I'm growing together with you How many of you feel as if You should be doing more for the kingdom. Amen. And this is why, guys, but it's gonna take all of us. This is why we said, you know, let's set up the discipleship classes to

establish some pillars and we're establishing things like the discipleship school. We want to brainstorm with you because a lot of times some you might be waiting for me and maybe you have an idea that I hadn't even thought of and come and talk to me. Come and talk to me. Let's talk together. If you have an idea, if you see a gap, if you see something missing here because this is how we do it together as a family. And the last thing I want to say before we dive into this is on the missions video it mentioned different missionary trips. Every year Grace International puts together missionary trips and they have some missionary trips this year. I believe there's flyers on the Welcome Center. Are those new? There's some new ones? Yeah, if it's something you want to do, at least take one mission trip somewhere in the world. Talk to Sharon and she will give you more insight into that. They set up these mission trips so they're at a discount when you go together and they, many sometimes it's Israel, sometimes South America, sometimes it's Europe, just different places, different areas. So just talk to Sharon if that's something you're interested in. Okay, John chapter 5 verse 39. It starts off by saying this and this is in the words of Jesus. He says, you search the scriptures because you think in them you have eternal life and it is they that bear witness about me. Jesus was saying this at a time because there were so many scholars, so many people that knew the Bible left and right, upside down, forward, and he says you're searching the scriptures thinking you have eternal life in the scriptures, not realizing that those very scriptures are pointing to him. And that's gonna be kind of our foundation here and what we're talking about. I know that on the flyer there's, you see different factions and we're gonna talk about that and how that pertains to us today because I think this is important. I was having a conversation about church history at the conference and it kind of sparked an interest to talk about a little bit about it with some of you because I believe it's important. You know we can learn a lot from history. You can learn a lot because history will repeat itself and that is important to understand because the Bible also says that there is nothing new under the sun. So it's

important and unfortunately many Christians, we are brought into Christ and nobody tells us our history. Many denominations will tell you about the origin of their denomination but they won't go all the way back from the time of Jesus and I think that's a disservice to Christians. We should know our history. Many times we don't stop to think what was it like, I mean what was it really like when Jesus was growing up? Because I think before we go back into the Pentecostal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, we need to go back to the beginning, back to the very start and what so what was it like when Jesus was growing up? What was Israel like? What was the the temperature of that time and what were the people doing as they were being oppressed by the Empire of Rome? You gotta put yourself in a mindset because sometimes we don't understand the actions of someone until we understand what they have gone through. Many of you feel misunderstood because you have gone through so many things but somebody comes across to you and they have no idea of your history so you don't make sense to them and you know I'm gonna be honest we do that in church all the time somebody comes in the church and they're broken but we don't know have no idea and and they have no idea that guess what you're broken too and you come into the church and all of a sudden I don't like that person I don't know they're this they're that whatever having no idea and I think that's really important for us to learn to do is see people for who they are and what shaped them to be who they are because you and I are the same way And so think about the people of Israel. For many years, yes, it was long gone from the times of King David and Solomon and by the time Jesus was born, the people had been oppressed by the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks, and now Rome. I want you to imagine, see, we don't know what that's like, but imagine everywhere you went and there would be soldiers from another nation policing us here in America. You go to the mall and there's foreign soldiers, and you go to church and there's foreign soldiers, and you go to City Hall and there's foreign soldiers, and you're on the street and there's with automatic weapons. Year after year after year, century after century. So the

people of Israel were tired. Nation after nation, empire after empire had oppressed them, and they're just like, why is this? I thought God called Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give us a land of milk and honey. I thought God called Moses to take us out of slavery, and then here comes King David and King Solomon. Why are we, it's like, it's like we're worse off than the Hebrews were in Egypt. Why is that? When is the Messiah gonna show up? Because they knew, they understood the scriptures that the Messiah was coming, and he was gonna come free them once and for all. So many people were tired of the oppression, and Israel was brewing for freedom. It was like this thing that was starting to boil over after the oppression of all these empires, and finally Rome. It was like, this is enough is enough. When is the Messiah coming to free us from this oppression? And because of the distaste for Roman oppression, guess what happened? Many factions started to grow. People had different ideas of how we can get out from under the thumb of Rome, and because of that, the Jewish people, they had different ideas. They had different things, the different things that they wanted to do, and this is important to see now, because you're like, what does this have to do with me today? This has a lot to do with us today, because in all honesty, inside the church and outside of the church, so many have questions. There are people that have questions. Why do you think there's so many denominations? Why is that? Why is it I go down the same street, and I just passed ten different denominations, and they're all claiming to be the right one? Why are there so many different beliefs? Which one is correct? My point today is to show you that this is not new. This is not a new issue. This is not a new problem. You know, here's the thing, everybody in this room, we probably can't even agree on how to make pozole. Anybody see Rachel Ray make pozole? That woman does not know. That's blasphemy, but even within this building, some of you don't agree. Maybe, I don't know how to make it. I just eat it, you know, but, or how about this for you criminals? Not everybody will agree how to make a spread. I'm talking your language, right? They're like, pozole, what's that? Do you know about spread? I put corn nuts, I put mayonnaise, I don't

put that, you know, it's like, I put Fritos, I put Doritos. You can't even get people to agree on something as simple as that, so imagine these people that were oppressed by all of these kingdoms, and I want to introduce you to five major factions that's gonna, I pray, is gonna bring more light to your understanding of why the church is where it's at today. I want to introduce to you the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Levites, the Zealots, and the Essenes. Each of them, I put them a little portrayal of what they look like on the flyer, and we're gonna talk about that, because this is important to understand what was Jesus born into, and what was going on as the people were sick and tired of being oppressed. Many of you, when you read the Gospels, you see that the Pharisees were constantly arguing with Jesus. Jesus. Who are these Pharisees? And and how why is it that they felt like they knew the right answer more than the other ones? Here's the thing about the the Pharisees is they had religion without revelation. These are the guys that know the Bible. These are the guys that know everything. They have all the answers and you cannot talk to them about nothing. Matter of fact they probably won't talk to you because you're just a sinner. And they knew the Word of God but they missed the Word of flesh. They understood the Bible so much that they couldn't see Jesus. They were experts in the scripture. They were focused on rules on their image. God forbid that they walked on the same side of the street as a sinner. The Pharisees would see you and they're like I'm not going past them. And they're going the other side. They had the really nice clothes and then they they had this outward of holiness. Like everywhere they walked they were like I don't want to do that again. That was weird. That was really weird. Let's harmonize. They couldn't recognize Jesus because he didn't fit their system. He didn't fit their system. Let's go to John chapter 5 verse 39. I'm gonna give you an example. John chapter 5 verse 39 and 40. On the flyer it's the guys on the top left. For those of you that are watching on screen it's the same flyer as the thumbnail for the video. I know sometimes I say on the video I'll say oh look at

the flyer and I'll get letters and say I didn't see the flyer. It's the same thumbnail. John chapter 5 verse 39 is the same verse we read earlier but I want to read it again. It says you search the scriptures because you think in them you have eternal life. He's telling the Pharisees that. Like you guys know the scriptures so much you don't realize that they're pointing to me. In verse 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. Super religious. Matthew chapter 15 verse 8. Matthew chapter 15 verse 8. Here's another example. Matthew 15 verse 8. And it reads like this. We're gonna read Matthew 15 8 through 9. Jesus says he's actually quoting. He says this people honors me with their lips but their heart is far from me. In vain do they worship me teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. They were so religious, so holy considered themselves completely set apart from the average person and God is saying Jesus is saying oh they honor me with their mouth but their heart is far from me. And in vain they worship me but in instead they're teaching doctrines the commandments of men. So what's the truth about this? How does this transfer to our day? Is this is that you can be deep in religion and far from God. You can be deep in your church but far from God. I don't want to be a Pharisee. These are people that know church language. Churchianity. How you doing? Highly blessed. Favored. I am anointed. Glory to God. He has blessed me and anointed me. They know scripture. They know church language and they know structure. They know how to be in a church and and faith becomes routine not a relationship. You come home to your wife because you have to, not because you can't wait to see her. You come to church because you have to, not because you can't wait to worship with your family, the one that saved you. And the Pharisees are more focused on looking right than being right with God. The Pharisee can go to church every single Sunday, every Bible study, but not know him. He walked among them and they didn't see him. So that's one faction that Jesus was born into. Think about that. The next group on the right side, if you notice, they got some Roman soldiers behind them.

They were Jewish. But these were the elite, the rich, the influential. These were born with a silver spoon in their mouth and because of that, they rubbed shoulders with their oppressors. And because of that, they needed to protect their influence. They needed to protect what they had going because they didn't want nobody to come along and mess things up. They were political, they were wealthy, and they were aligned with Rome. And the Sadducees, they didn't like the Pharisees because the Sadducees were like, you guys got it all wrong. Who are you? You're a bunch of peasants. Because the Sadducees saw themselves as more important than what they really were. And they were prominent, and they were powerful, and most of them were in politics. Most of them thought themselves higher than. They were more concerned with position rather than truth. Angel says, I thought you were talking about back then because it matches. So when Jesus came, they saw Jesus as a threat because he didn't belong to their circles. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth and his teachings. So this is the second faction. I want to show you some scriptures in John chapter 11. You know, sometimes I watch different places of worship on Sundays. I'll scroll through. The more and more I see places of worship use less and less scripture. So I'm like, I'm going to do the opposite. We're going to use more scripture. John chapter 11, verse 47. Let's see about these Sadducees. 1147 says this, it says, So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council. All these religious people, they all got together.

And said, what are we to do? They're talking about Jesus. What are we going to do about this guy? You know, what's funny is that God will cause enemies to get along. What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. And if we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him. And the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nations. Sadducees were like, hey, this Jesus is coming. And he's going to mess what we got going. We like to be prominent. We like to do this. And he's going to mess things up. Verse 49, it says, But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, you know nothing at all. Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish. You know what he's saying? He's saying, isn't it better that Jesus die than all of us have to suffer? Isn't it better? And if we skip down to verse 53, look what it says in verse 53. It says, So from that day on, they made plans to put him to death. These are church people. These are religious people And they were angry that jesus was doing what they were doing. But yet they had murder in their hearts So we can be in the church Worshiping singing loud doing all this and that but there's murder in your hearts because god is moving in somebody's life And that's what they were doing And this is dangerous matter of fact another scripture acts chapter 4 Right after john acts chapter 4 a few pages more one through three

These sadducees were dangerous Anytime you mess with somebody's money They're dangerous Because they will take you out before you do something to their money because that's their god Acts chapter 4 verse 1 it says and as they were speaking to the people The priests and the captain of the temple and the sadducees came upon them greatly annoyed Because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in jesus the resurrection from the dead Verse 3 and they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day for it was already evening The sadducees did not want things shaken up did not want things messed up. They liked their their their prominent place Even though they were oppressed even though they worked with the oppressors You know sometimes in ministry nowadays We can get so accustomed to the way ministry is that we want to keep it rigid We want to keep it the way it's going. We don't want things shaken up We don't want we want revival but not too much revival. We want holy ghost, but not too much. Holy ghost We want demons cast out, but we don't want it to look messy on a sunday We want the word of god to preach but we want to put a timer on and it's like we want to control this thing You can't control the holy ghost You can't do it and sometimes the things of god are messy But We we we want to keep it straight. We want to keep everything going because we're we're more concerned with our position rather than the truth And that is dangerous When truth threatens your position you will either submit or resist When truth threatens your position you'll either submit or resist Who are these people in this modern day parallel if we do that it's people who compromise truth to stay accepted They would rather play by they would they rather be a team player Than to stand for truth Their faith will adjust to fit the culture of the time or the career of the time or the influence of the time

Churches years ago 20 years ago would never accept this in the church. But now because it's cool now. It's like all of a sudden The church changes because they want to follow after culture Or follow your career Man, i'm going to preach the word of god, but man i'll never be asked to preach at city hall I'll never be asked to to do the prayer for the governor So You adjust your faith to fit culture career or influence And they're more concerned with the platform rather than purity That's the pharisees They wanted to do the things of god as long as it didn't disrupt what they had going Sadducees, I don't know if I said pharisees sadducees In other words, they said I believe in god But I don't want it to cost me anything Oh, I believe in god, but I don't want it to cost me anything I want I want a revival in the church, but I don't want it to cost me anything I want us to evangelize the city of medeso, but I don't want it to cost me anything I want to preach the word, but I don't want to get people mad in the city I don't want to get people mad in the government. I don't want to get people upset These are the sadducees So we know we don't want to be you wouldn't want to be a Sadducee. But these fractions or factions I mean were prominent in the time of Jesus. The Levites. The Levites are those in the bottom of the flyer. They are the priests. They are the ones that that had control of the temple. They are the ones that did the sacrifices. They're the ones that everyone knew that you you couldn't you couldn't be a priest. You were either born into it or you were not a priest. You couldn't join them. You couldn't walk up and say hey how do I fill out an application because I want to be a priest. There was none of that. You were either born into it under the Levite family or that was it. You were never gonna be a priest. And these people they were in authority but without surrender to God. That's a third faction. They led

the system but missed the very Savior. They controlled the temple. They had religious structure and they used that very authority to oppose Jesus. Because they're like who do you think you are? You're from Nazareth. What good comes from Nazareth? What good comes from Modesto? What good comes from the West Side? What good comes from the airport district? What good comes? Felix like me. What good comes from that? Because that's what would happen. I'll be honest with you. We went to a big city. We start proclaiming that. Who do you think you are? Where are you from? Modesto. They're like where is that? Ain't that that cow town? Who do you think you are? Be like Jesus is from a cow town too. And he turned your world right side up. They use their authority to oppose Jesus and they chose preservation of power over submitting to God. They didn't want the status quo disrupted again. Almost like the Sadducees but even deeper because they had the temple. I mean think about it. The temple was a great thing because it was in the center of Israel. It was in Jerusalem and many times a year all the Israelites would come and they would bring their sacrifice and and and and they would make money. If you were a family and and you had some lambs but you lived a two-week walk away from Israel but you wanted to sacrifice this beautiful little lamb so you would get your whole family, pack them up, load them up, make your trip, have it to make your way all the way to Jerusalem because you wanted to go to the high priest because only the high priest could sacrifice an animal for your family and you would travel all that way, all that trouble through sweat, through tired and everything and you finally show up at the temple. You're like wow look at this temple. You take your animal. The priest says what would you like? I want I want to sacrifice this animal for the sins of my family and the priest knew that you walked two weeks to get there. Knew that many nights many wild animals almost killed your whole family. Knew that it took money and took all of these resources for you to get there and they look at your animal they're like oh it's not perfect enough. What do you mean? This this is my best. I want to give God my best and this is the best from my entire herd. They're like not good enough. Well what am I supposed

to do? Go back home two weeks and two weeks back? I can't do that. They're like oh no no we got a deal for you. Matter of fact we have a lamb for you right here for a thousand dollars. What? Lambs are 50 bucks. Hey if you don't want it somebody else to take it. Look at this long line of people with lambs. I see blemishes on all of them. So they were forced to have to pay that. Why do you think Jesus came and overturned the tables in the temple? He says you have turned my house of prayer into a den of thieves. You have taken advantage of my people. They chose preservation of power over submission to God. They stand in a position of authority and they resist the very God they claim to worship. How does this translate now? Because we already gone through the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the high priests. who are the high priests of this day. I will tell you right now they are leaders and ministers or influencers who serve publicly but struggle privately. Their life does not match the public life to their private life because they are not submitted because it's all about authority. Their doings God work without being led by the God that they claim to serve. They protect systems instead of pursuing his presence. This is another faction that Jesus was born into. In other words, they were used by God but they were never surrendered to God. And you're like man if I was alive I wouldn't fit with the Pharisees. I wouldn't fit with the Sadducees. I'm not a Levite so I could never be a Levite or a priest. What about this other group? These dudes man they got swords and weapons that probably fits me. Who are they? These are the Zealots. Another faction that was around the time of Jesus. And they wanted change but not God's way. They hated the Roman oppression. They couldn't stand it anymore. They believed that force and violence were the answer. They're just like man we have to just take it in the same way Joshua and Caleb took it. We have to take what is ours the way they did it in the Old Testament. We got to do the same. We got to pick up our weapons. We got to train. We just can't be playing nice and quoting scripture and standing in the corners. We just got to take what's ours. See all of these factions were waiting for the Messiah to come. The Pharisees thought the Messiah would be a certain way. And for sure the Messiah was going to be a Pharisee. And the Sadducees they had an expectation of who the Messiah was going to be. But surely the Messiah was going to come and be born of nobility because

he was going to be like them. And the high priests are saying you guys are both wrong. The Messiah is going to be a priest so he's going to be one of us. And the Zealots were like nah you guys are all wrong. The Messiah is going to come and handle business like King David. The way same way King David cut off Goliath's head. We're going to do the same. Messiah is going to come and he's going to start decapitating Romans all over the place. They all had their own idea of who the Messiah was going to be. And that's dangerous because many times we want to shape Jesus to what we want instead of what the scriptures say. And how fitting he fits you. They expected a militant Messiah. Matthew 26 verse 52. 26 52. Let's see if the if the Zealots were correct. What did Jesus say about it? Matthew 26 52. Jesus says then Jesus said to him put your sword back into its place for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Another faction that Jesus was born into. Each of them thought they were right. Each of them had their own imagination how the Messiah was going to be and who the Messiah was going to be. And yet we know that Jesus didn't fit them. Matter of fact in John 18 36. Look at this. John 18 36. And I believe this is not only to the Zealots but to all of them. John 18 36 says this. Jesus answered I believe this is not only to the Zealots but to all of them. John 18 36 says this. Jesus answered my kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world if my kingdom were of this world my servants would have been fighting that I might be delivered over to the Jews but my kingdom is not from the world. So these zealots, they had in mind that the Messiah was going to come and he was going to be a warrior and a fighter and they were going to, he was going to lead the charge to fight against Rome and they were going to win and have this great victory. And Jesus says, I'm not coming for this kingdom. I'm not coming to free Israel, I'm coming to free humanity. So the truth is this, is that these zealots were very passionate They get very excited, but you know what? We can have so much, be so passionate about God and still be wrong. Because we want him to be what we want him to be. A lot of times we say, if Jesus were here, he would vote this way or he would vote that way.

Be careful with that one. Matter of fact, there's a time where Joshua wrestled the angel, but before that, he saw the angel and he says, who are you with, me or them? And the angel says, I'm with neither, I'm with God. So it's not up to get Jesus to line up with our political views, it's about the politics have to line up to him. And here, they all wanted him to line up. They were passionate about God, but they could still be wrong. In a modern day parallel, people who are loud and aggressive and reactive sometimes, they want to fight everybody for Jesus, that they're a fighting culture, arguing online, attacking people. They're not even about winning souls, they're about winning arguments, trying to win battles, but instead they lose the hearts. Don't be that guy. Oh, I'm defending truth. But you're not reflecting Christ. Don't ever get into a debate with somebody to win the argument. What good does that do? Show me the scripture that says all of heaven rejoices when you win the debate. All of heaven rejoices when you just drop the mic on a Facebook post. I can't find that verse. This is all of heaven rejoices when one sinner repents. Okay, Pharisees, Sadducees, High Priests, Zealots. I probably kind of fit with the Zealots because my old life, but maybe not so much now. What about the last group? The last group are the Essenes. Many times we don't hear about them, and there's a reason we don't hear about them, because they like isolating themselves from all these guys. The Essenes are like, man, these guys are nuts. We're just going to go out and hide in the caves and live in the caves, and we're going to raise our children, and we're going to read scripture and just live a holy life, and we're just going to wait here until we die so we can get to heaven. That's all we're going to do because Jerusalem is lost. So the Essenes completely isolated themselves away from everyone. Who's heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls? You know, most likely, those Dead Sea Scrolls were in those caves because of this group. So praise God for them. Praise God for them.

But they separated from their mission. They completely isolated themselves. They isolated in the wilderness. They pursued purity and avoided society, but they missed the mission to reach people. John 17, just another page back, verse 15 through 18. Look at this. John 17, 15 through 18. I'll be honest with you, hearing those pages flip is a beautiful sound because we need to get back in our Bibles. John 17, 15 says this, in the words of Jesus, he says, I do not ask that you take them out of the world, don't go hiding in a cave, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth, your word is truth. 18, as you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. Matter of fact, there's another scripture, the Bible says, don't hide your light under a bushel, but put your light up high on the table so all can see. Do I give props to these scenes because they're just like, hey man, I don't wanna be Pharisees, Sadducees, they're all crazy, we're just gonna serve God. Yeah, I give them props for that. But, what good is that? What good is it if we isolate ourselves as a church and say we don't want no members here, we don't want nobody walking in on Sunday because we got a good thing going, so far I like everybody in this building, so let's just shut the doors. Let's take the sign off, let's not promote it on Facebook. Let's withdraw ourselves, let's completely withdraw from the world and avoid those sinners. What happens, we have cut ourselves off from reaching the very ones that Jesus came for. And that's not good, they wanted to focus

on personal holiness but neglect the mission. So I'm staying clean, but I'm not reaching anyone. So you got the Pharisee is religious, the Sadducee is in politics, the Levi is in control, the zealots wanted by force in the Essenes have complete isolation. Every single one of them, completely different agendas with the same result, they did not have the Lord. There's a scripture in the Bible, it says he was, in John 1 10, it says he was in the world. John 1 10, he was in the world and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. John 1 10, it says he came to his own and his own people did not receive him. So this division, this denominations, this different factions, the different things, it is not a new thing, guys. This was going on even in the midst of Jesus growing up. That all of them had their own idea who the Messiah was gonna be, yet he walked in the midst of all of them and none of them saw him. They missed him then, what if we miss him now? They didn't see him then, what if we don't see him now? Because in the midst of these five factions, there arose a man named John and he started to baptize people in water for the remission of sins and he would yell to all the people to repent,

repent, repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. And he wasn't a Sadducee, a Pharisee, a high priest, a zealot, he was just this crazy man by the river telling people, listen, you gotta repent because the chosen one is coming. They're like, are you him? He says, no, I'm not him. Matter of fact, I can't even loosen his sandal strap. I baptize you in water, but he who comes after me will baptize you in fire and the Holy Ghost. And he's preaching to the Sadducees and the Pharisees and the zealots and all of them, and all of them rejected him because all of them were like, well, he's not one of us, he's not one of us, he's not one of us. And John the Baptist said, he's gonna come and he's gonna usher in the kingdom of God. And this did not sit well with these groups because they had their own agenda. And then Jesus shows up on the scene and he tells the religious Pharisees that it wasn't just about the scriptures, but who the scriptures pointed to. And he told the political Sadducees that what was good, what good is it to gain the whole world if you lose your soul? And he told the Levites that they were just servants of God, but instead they had hijacked what belonged to God. And he told the zealots that his kingdom was not of this world.

And he told the Essenes, don't hide your light under a bush and instead let your light shine for the whole world to see. And if they made these mistakes then, these five factions, if they made these mistakes then, what makes us think that we can't make the same mistake today? These are things we need to be mindful of. Every time you listen to a YouTube channel or a Facebook, you need to ask God, does this line up with the word in context of what the word says? Because if there was factions then, there's factions now and the Messiah walked in the midst of them and they missed it. Some are building systems, some are chasing power, some fought, some withdrew, but all of them missed it. and they miss them then, we don't want to miss them now. So out of all of this, I want you to get this. The average person at that time, the average prostitute, the average drunk, or even today, the average drug addict, the average gangbanger, the average inmate, the average person in depression, the average abused person, the average molested child, the average abused wife, the average man, the average woman, where would they fit in? Where would you fit in? If you were alive, where would you fit in? I can't help but to think most of these groups would reject us. The Pharisees didn't want them. The Sadducees didn't want them. The Levites didn't want them. The Zealots didn't want them. The Essenes didn't want them. So I thought, what about the average person as Jesus went to village and village and town after town preaching the gospel, and the average person who didn't fit in with these factions, and all of a sudden, they heard a voice, and that voice spoke with an authority, but yet in that authority, there was compassion in that voice. This is what was so attractive

and so magnetic and so enticing about Jesus. He didn't come for the Pharisee and the Sadducee and all these. That's why he says, it is better to leave the 99 righteous ones who think they're good, and I'll go and seek the one, the one that's lost. Because ultimately, Jesus says, you don't have to fit in with them, because I'm calling you to fit in with me. This is what the Lord is saying. As we wrap this up, I want you to imagine that maybe you're here at House of Rest. Maybe you're watching this because you're tired of the factions, and you feel like none of them accept you, but it's not about a church accepting you. It's about the Lord we serve accepting you. It's about him, and can you imagine if he stood up here, and he says, I'll take the broken. I'll take the molested. I'll take the beaten. Sadducees, Pharisees, you don't want the inmates? I'll take the inmates. I'll take the gangbanger. I'll take the drunk. I'll take the drug addict. I'll take the pill popper. I'll take the adulterer. I'll take the fornicator. I'll take the cheater. I'll take the homosexual. I'll take the suicidal. I'll take the oppressed. I'll take the wicked. I'll take the witch. I'll take the angry. I'll take the lost. I'll even take the weak. I'll take the heavy-hearted. I'll take the discouraged one. I'll take the poor one. I'll take the rejected one. I'll take the one that's in sorrow right now. I will take the one that doesn't belong, and I'll take the sinner. Do you know what that sounded like to the ears of the average person that felt that there was no way for them to reach God because they didn't fit into the ideologies that these factions taught? And all of a sudden, Jesus comes and he says, you know what? The tax collector is going to get to heaven quicker than the Pharisee. The prostitute is going to get into heaven quicker than the Sadducee because he will take all of these people, and he says, I will make a new creation from you, and all that old stuff will pass away, and I will make all things brand new, and I will make you what you were meant to be because the enemy sees us as all of these things, adulterer, cheater, homosexual, adulterer, suicidal, oppressed, wicked, that whole thing. whole list of stuff but jesus says i'm gonna take that and completely change it and make you who you were meant to be all along i will accept you i will take you and i will make you who you were meant to be i've shared this before a few weeks ago i've shared it a lot that when a caterpillar

goes into a cocoon it liquefies it literally turns to liquid inside the cocoon because i always how is it that this caterpillar all of a sudden has these colorful wings and it's not that it grows wings it liquefies and becomes something else and i truly believe that everything that nature does are examples of what god does because god created them all and a lot of times we come into the church and we're like i can't do it i can't change you know why because you're trying to be the caterpillar trying to fly as a caterpillar you're trying to come into the kingdom in the way you are with your same stuff and your same vices and your same issues and your same problems and the lord is saying i can't change you matter of fact i want to kill your old self so i can make you brand new i need to break you down i need to liquefy you and i will make you to a new creation old things have passed away all things have become new and i will take the broken and i will take you and make something out of you you are not here so you can please the sadducees and the pharisees and the high priest you are here to please the one that sits on the throne and he says i will make something great from you i will give you a purpose i will give you a reason i will make you who you were meant to be let's all please stand there was factions then and there's factions now in this day and age where christianity can feel so murky you need to be closer to this book than you ever have before in your life everything if you're a member here house of rest if you're a family if you're a partner here everything i say better be backed up in this word because christianity is so murky so many different teachings so many more factions rather than just five we need to open our word study our word don't come to church to hear what god is telling pastor david come to church to be confirmed of what god has been telling you all week long that's the way it should be all of a sudden you hear something said here me or pastor angel whoever is up here and you're like that's what god was showing me on thursday that's what god was showing me on wednesday see that's what it should be a confirmation of what god is already telling you telling you if there's anybody here if you want to surrender your life to jesus right now right now right now this is the moment i can't think of a better day to be saved than today matter of fact today's the day of salvation tomorrow is not promised

right now you can look at the day and say oh it's april 26 this is going to be my spiritual birthday from now on april 26th if that is you whether you are here or whether you're on screen if you're watching this wherever you may be right now is the moment to say i want to surrender my life to jesus i don't want to surrender my life to religion i don't want to surrender my life to a church i don't want to surrender my life to a ministry i want to surrender my life to you lord to you and you lead me where i should go you lead my steps if that is you i have a simple prayer but just because it's a simple prayer doesn't mean it's ineffective the bible says that you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that jesus christ is lord you shall be saved that's what the bible says i hold to it because the word says it it is the greatest prayer i ever prayed in my life back in 2004 it was the greatest thing i could have ever done greatest decision i could have ever made best commitment i could have ever made it was more than just tears it was more than this this rush of excitement it was a commitment and if that is you if you're tired i want you to pray this prayer and god will do what he did to me to you because he's no respecter of men we're going to open the altars if you want to come up here but you don't have to come up here because guess what he hears you where you're at too but if you want to make that walk of faith let it be a sign that you're turning around from your old life and let it be a moment and say this lord god i repent of all my sins i believe you died on the cross and after three days you rose in power take out my heart of stone give me a brand new heart put your spirit in me from this moment on in jesus name amen amen let's give the lord a hand we're going to open the altars we're going to worship i want you to spend time with your lord right now as you're coming up i want to pray for those that pray that prayer in the name of jesus i pray for chains to be broken i pray for oppression to be destroyed i pray for cloudiness of mind to dissipate and clarity to come in any demonic hold on you i break it in the name of jesus by the blood of the lamb i pray for good things for you for you to have a new hunger for his word for you have a new hunger of fellowship and and a new hunger to spend time with him i pray for you and your family for your household for you not to have religion but a relationship and for it to begin in a powerful way for you to walk out of this place and the trees look different

the leaves look different the sky looks different the world looks different because you are now a new creation in christ old things have passed away and all things become new we're going to open the altar and let's worship together come on some countries are not allowed to worship together and we have the freedom united states of america to worship together come on oh let's worship together do it for the believers that can't uh if you need prayer i want you to come up we need some prayer warriors help me come on it's tangible in this place are you hurting are you sick you have a cry in your heart in this place what you're doing something Oh I don't know Lord, You're doing something great You're making supernatural things Come on, press in, press in. He says, I inhabit the praises of my people. The world might reject you, but He will not reject you. Lord, reveal yourself to me. Reveal yourself to my family. Reveal yourself in my home. I don't manifest in sin. Oh, Yahweh. Oh, Rabbi. I don't want religion, I want you, Lord. I don't want a church life, I want a life after you, Lord. I need your presence.

I need you to be the oxygen that I breathe. I need you to be the healer of my soul. I need you to break the chains that I can't escape from. I need your anointing and your presence upon me. If you worship, he will manifest himself, if you call him, he will manifest himself. If you seek him, he will manifest himself. If you worship, he will manifest himself, if you call him, he will manifest himself. If you seek him, he will manifest himself. Yahweh will manifest himself, Jaira will manifest himself. All of the different religious leaders that approached Jesus

that encountered with him. Let me ask you. You might be saved and you're here tonight or you're here this morning. And how many of you are struggling with your wall? Can we be honest? How many of you have have some struggles in your life? That doesn't mean you're a murderer, right? Doesn't mean the FBI is out looking for you. But how many of you can say, you know what? There's some struggles in my life. You know, maybe I find myself as a Pharisee arguing with Jesus, trying to plead my case to do it my way over his way. Maybe I'm a Pharisee sometimes and I just can't see. I don't have hope and ask, you know, one of the things with the Pharisees, they didn't believe the resurrection. They said life, when you died, that was it. And so you're struggling with God. I don't see the supernatural. I just don't see that. I don't see the ability for a miracle to take place in this situation. Or maybe you're a zealot and you're going, you know, God, I'm so tired of, of waiting for you to do it. I'm going to take it in my own hands and do it myself. Can we be honest? How many of us are struggling with some of that? Raise your hand, lift up your hand. Can we come? Can you come? If you raise your hand, can you come? Can we pray? Come. I want to invite you. I'm not going to ask you, I'm not going to put the mic to your phone and ask you what you're struggling with. Some of you guys might take too long, but I just want you to come. If you need help in your marriage and you're just going, you know, we're not in alignment. I want you to come. If you need prayer for your kids and you're struggling as a parent to kind of how to sort through that, I want you to come. If you need some help in your finances and you're trying to work through all of that and you're tired of being angry at your boss every day, I want you to come. If you wake up in the morning and worship isn't in your mouth the first 30 seconds, I want you to come. If you're struggling with gratitude and thinking of what is positive in your life and the blessings of God that's in your life and you're always focused on the negative, I want you to come. Here's my point. If you're breathing, I want you to come because you're probably struggling with something

and for those of you that aren't, well, then we're going to pray for humility because I highly doubt anyone in here has it all together. Can we admit that? Thank you. Thank you Christians for being honest. Can we pray? All of these different mindsets, all these different factions would come and argue with Jesus and Jesus would just tell them over and over again, trust me. Yeah, but this, that, trust me. Yeah, but this and that. Yeah, but just trust me. As a Christian, can we admit it is hard to trust him? Can we close our eyes across this building? Just lift up your hand, just slip them up and just say, Jesus, right now I'm tired of trying to do it myself. I'm tired of doing it on my own. I want to trust you. Help me, teach me how to trust you. I give you my life. I surrender my heart. God, I give you my finances. I give you my marriage. I give you my children. God, I give you my tongue. The words that come out of my mouth, I give them to you. The thoughts that cross my mind, I give them to you. I give you my health. I give you today. Father, I give you tomorrow. I believe it right now that you're hearing me. I don't want to be this same person. I don't want to hold on to the past. I'm tired of being bitter. I'm tired of being angry. I'm tired of battling with depression. I'm tired of fighting through anxiety. I'm tired of running from fear. I'm tired of avoiding the hard things. I'm tired of not being disciplined. I'm tired of not reading my Bible. I'm tired of lashing out with people. I surrender right now. I lift my voice right now. I give you my all. I don't want to hold anything back. You're God. I'm not. You're God. God, I'm not. You're God, I'm not. You're God, I'm not. You're God, I am not. I surrender God as a human being to you because you're God. You are Lord. I give you myself. Can we worship him for a few minutes? In that same mindset, right there where you're at. Just praise him. Just thank him. Lord, I thank you. Just thank him. Open your mouth and just thank him. Lord, I thank you. I appreciate you. I'm sorry I don't have gratitude all the time. That's changed. When I wake up, I'm going to worship you. When I wake up, I'm going to praise you. When I wake up, Lord God, I'm going to thank you. Before I think of problems, I'm going to thank you. Lord, I'm going to thank you because you have the solution. I thank you because you have the wisdom. I thank you because you have the strength. I thank you because you have given me that strength. Thank you. Because you're God and I'm not. I don't have to be God. I get to be a son. I don't have to be God. I get to

be a son. I don't have to have it figured out. You do that. You show me how to walk that out. Thank you. Come on, church. Can we just close this service out with gratitude and worship? Forget the problem. Can you look at your God? Forget the issue. Can you worship him with gratitude? He is high and lifted up. He is high and lifted up. He is holy. He is great. He is amazing. He is the bright and shining star. He is the rock of ages. He is the wisdom of God. He is the strength of God. He is the purity of God. He is Emmanuel, God, amongst us. Father, we thank you across this altar space as you heal families, as you heal hearts, as you restore situations, as you bring hope, as you bring smiles this morning where there wasn't smiles, as you bring encouragement where there wasn't encouragement. Father, we thank you as a people, as a body, as a church, watching online, those that are here, watching later, those of you that are live. Father, we worship you. We worship you, Jesus. We lift our voice. We lift our voice against every mountaintop, against every valley, against every health issue, against every problem. Lord God, we leave it behind and we worship you, Jesus. We lift our voice in gratitude and admiration. Father, we lift our heart to you. We raise our hands to you to show and demonstrate that you are worthy of all the worship, all the praise, all the glory. You are worthy of a smile every morning. You are worthy, Lord God, of me blessing others. You are worthy of me blessing my spouse and not being angry all the time. You are worthy of me blessing my children and not being frustrated. You are worthy of peace. I receive your peace. Maybe you have anxiety. Give it to him. Receive his peace that passes all understanding. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus. Porque no le hace que vengas domingo tras domingo aquí al servicio y no tengas qué? Una obediencia hacia tu creador, a Dios. O una obediencia a su palabra que nos alimenta. Hoy vamos a hablar sobre la obediencia a Dios y su palabra. Vayan conmigo al libro de Primera de Samuel, capítulo 15. Y manténganse allí en esta escritura. Primero les voy a decir algo. Un profeta es simplemente una persona ungida por Dios, una persona que presenta y comunica la palabra de Dios al pueblo, a la gente. Ese es un profeta. Un profeta recibe de Dios y el profeta habla lo que Dios ha hablado a su vida. Samuel creció y siendo joven, él ministraba y servía a Jehová. Jehová es otro nombre para Dios, no te confundas. Y servía a Jehová en presencia de Elí, el sacerdote, y la palabra de Dios escaseaba. Escaseaba en aquellos días y no había visión con frecuencia. O sea, ¿qué es escaseaba?
