Beyond These Walls
"Beyond These Walls". Greenbrier Campus Pastor, Tim Powell -.
Thank you so much for joining us today. My name is Tim Powell, and I have the privilege and the honor of being the campus pastor at our new life church, Greenbrier Campus. We are a non-denominational church located in the state of Arkansas with 19 about to be 20 campuses across the state. Our heart behind partnering with Pando through God Behind Bars is to allow your family an opportunity to connect to biblical community so that they can be growing in their walk with Christ at the same time that you were growing. So if you do have family in Arkansas, encourage them to check out newlifechurch.tv to find a campus that fits them. Thank you so much for being here. Now let's listen in to today's message. All right, well good morning new life church. Do me a favor and welcome everyone that is listening in through Pando with our God Behind Bars ministry. Can we give them an NLC Greenbrier welcome today? [CHEERING] Man. It's so good to have you guys with us. And I want to remind you, and I've said this many times, that your circumstances does not mean who you are. It is not your identity. And God has a plan and a purpose for your life. And I just want to say thank you for joining us today. And this ministry, it's encouraging
to see and to read the letters of the people that are growing closer to Christ through this ministry. We've had over 30 salvations and less than a month through this ministry. Yeah, that's a great place to give God some praise. And I'm so thankful for you guys and the way that you're leaning in and the way that you're growing. We realize that any given weekend, we have visitors from around the state. And what some of you may not realize is we're not just one church. We have 19 soon to be 20 campuses across the state of Arkansas. And I just want to encourage you, if you have family that lives in one of these areas and they haven't found a life-giving church to get connected to, encourage them to check us out. Give us a shot. As a matter of fact, this weekend, our Fayetteville campus at Northwest Arkansas is going live with Pando, with God behind bars ministry. So now we have two of our campuses that have joined this. So if you're listening in and you have family or maybe you're from Northwest Arkansas, all you have to do is just search New Life Church Fayetteville and it'll come up in that app. So they will be uploading their sermons as well. So I'm excited what God is doing. How many of you are thankful for what God is doing in and around our community?
I know that I am. If you've been a part of our campus for any amount of time, you know our heart for missions. You know our heart for local outreach. As a matter of fact, I believe it's what God has commissioned and called each one of us to do and to be a part of. You know, I'm gonna go back two weeks ago and revisit a message that I taught for just a moment and then I'll catch you up to where we're going today. Two weeks ago, I taught on the parable of the Good Samaritan from Luke chapter 10. And Jesus references three different men in this situation. One was a priest, one was a Levite or a temple assistant depending on the translation you're reading. And he also references a gentleman that had been robbed, stripped, beaten and left for dead on the side of the road. He tells the story that both men, the temple and of the priest and the temple assistant, not only did they pass this man without doing anything about it, they crossed to the other side of the street and they walked by. It wasn't until the Good Samaritan showed up on the scene that he allowed the compassion in his heart to activate something to respond. You know, I would say that none of us would ever do that, right? None of us would ever cross to the other side of a street when someone was in pain or when someone was hurting. But the reality is, is we do it every day. We drive right past people that are hurting, we walk right past people that need prayer,
that need us to do something beyond, just have compassion. A lot of times we look at this story and we may not realize, this is a priest. I'm gonna say he probably prayed for the man. That's a safe assumption that's not in scripture. I'm sure he probably even had a certain level of compassion, even the temple assistant, the Levi. I'm sure there was some compassion there, but they didn't allow that compassion to activate anything inside of them beyond just concern. And honestly, that's my prayer for us as a church. I said, we allow God to activate our compassion beyond concern. We know James chapter two, verse 17 reminds us that faith without works is dead. And I made a pretty bold statement to you. And I stand behind it today. I just pray that our faith doesn't become so immature to think that what we do here is just for us. Yes, God has called us to come together and to get into his word and to grow in relationship with one another and to be discipled. But what God is doing inside of us is not just for us. I've heard people say before, well, my relationship with Jesus is private, no. But God never designed our relationship with Him to be private. God calls us to come in to be disciple, but then to go out and disciple others. Now let me be very clear, you cannot work your way into heaven. I'm not teaching that theology, but I am telling you that you can't experience one moment in God's presence without it changing you. You can't live the same.
How many of you have ever been in a place in your life when you didn't know what you were going to do? You felt completely and totally hopeless, and God showed up. Anyone in this room? Many of you. When you experience God's presence in a time where you feel like that there is no hope, you can't live the same way. And my prayer is we go through today's message that you allow the examples that we have from scripture to remind us that even in our darkest places, even in the times when it feels like there is no hope to be found anywhere that God will never forsake you, and He'll never abandon you. In Luke chapter 10 verse 36-37, when Jesus finished teaching this parable to the expert in the law, He looked at Him and He said this, "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell in the hands of robbers?" The expert of the law replied, "He said the one who had mercy on Him. We like to stop there, don't we?" But Jesus continued with a command, He said, "Jesus told Him, 'Go,' everybody say, 'Go, go and do likewise.' Go." This is the great commission church. Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 28, He says, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I've commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." Jesus gives us that instruction, but He also reminds us that we don't have to go along, that He goes with us, and He's with us to the end of age. I asked our staff a question this week, and I want to pose that same question to you. What I asked them was, "If New Life Church Dream Bar closed the doors today, would our community notice?" Or is this just some type of entertainment event on Sunday? Or are we making an impact in this community, in this state, and around the United States, and around the world, in such a way that if we had to close our doors, then it would be noticed? I believe, today we can stand here and say, "Yes, I believe our community would notice if we closed our doors." If you know anything about our church, you know our heart for outreach, you know our heart for local missions and global missions. You know our heart, but what we have to be careful is not to get to a place where we settle. When we say, "Well, been there ton that. I've done enough. God, I've got other things that are taking priority." No, I don't believe there's any other thing that should take priority over us, sharing the hope and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In every room that we walk into, nothing should take place of that. Though we allow ourselves to get distracted sometimes, don't we? We start chasing success. We have a little taste of the world. And before we know it, it's a slow fate. And we found ourself, "Oh, I'll get to church one day." When at one point in your life, it was priority for your family. Prayer was important for your family. Growing in your relationship with God was important for your family. Well, I want you to know that if you believe that there's a God, you better understand that there's an enemy. And the one thing that he desires greater than anything is to still kill and destroy everything that God's doing in you and through you. Now, it doesn't mean that we're not going to face some resistance in life because we're going to. I'm going to talk about that in just a moment. But I pray that we're a church that runs to the brokenness, not one that sets back and waits for someone else to do something about it. I pray that when people think of new life church, they see hope in the future. I told Saturday night service, "I want us to be hope smugglers." Somebody thought I said, "Dope smugglers." I said, "No, that's not what I said." I said, "Hope smugglers." There's a difference. I want us to carry hope into every room we walk into. Every broken life, listen, every seat that is occupied in this room holds a story. Every one of them. And the longer I'm a pastor, the more I realize and I recognize that every story has brokenness in it. At some point, there's brokenness. Now, I'm not comparing one person's brokenness to another, but it's personal for you. We've all had a place in our life where we felt like there was no hope to be found. Well, the reality is, is the only place that we can truly find hope is with Jesus. And we can look through Scripture and we see example after example. What about Job for a second?
Let's talk about Job. He lost everything. He lost his children, his possessions, his health, his sense of security was gone. Yet God eventually answered Job and he restored what had been lost. So God restored hope for Job. And Job's story reminds us that God can meet you even when you don't understand why you're suffering. Have you ever been in a place where you just can't quite understand why you're having to go through this? I mean, I think we've all experienced that to some level. I got 'em. I'm connected to life groups. I'm in your word. I'm serving in church. I'm living my life with everything that I possibly can and to dedicate it towards you. Does that mean that we're not gonna face resistance? No, we're going to. But Job's story reminds us of the importance of saying focused on what God can do. Don't forget that there are people around you that had this same sense of hopelessness and it's our responsibility to share that hope when someone else thinks there's not any. What about Joseph? You guys remember Joseph's story? This brother was forgotten in prison.
He was betrayed by his own brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. At one point, the person Joseph helped, forgot all about him. Well, how could anyone ever do that? Like, how could anyone ever forget about somebody that gave their life for him? We do that with Jesus, don't we? When things are difficult and we're going through difficult seasons, it's easy for us to get on our face before God and plead for his help because you know the power that he holds, but then when things get back to normal and you start getting a little bit of momentum and life, it's really easy to stop focusing on the one that brought you there. And I believe it's something that I pray that the Holy Spirit convicts each one of us because it happens, it's happened to me. So I don't say this with condemnation behind it, but I do pray for conviction from the Holy Spirit when we get to a place that we lose sight of how far God brought us. It's the reason we take communion. It's to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for each and every one of us. But then Pharaoh called him and Genesis 41 to a position of authority. He tells Joseph and Genesis 41.40 says,
"You shall be in charge of my palace "and all my people are to submit to your orders." This is a man that was in prison. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you. So the hope that we learn through Joseph's story is it shows us that being forgotten by people doesn't mean that you've been forgotten by God. And there may be people that you love, that you cared about, that has betrayed you and let you down. They act like they don't even know you now. It's like they've forgotten all about you. Can I just tell you that God hasn't forgotten about you? And he still loves you and he still has a purpose and he has a plan for your life. What about David? King David, a man after God's own heart, his life was luxury, right? He was king. David spent years running for his life from Saul. At one point, scripture says in Samuel, 1 Samuel 30 verse six, "As David was greatly distressed "because the men were talking of stoning him, "of stoning him. "Each one was bitter in spirit "because his sons and daughters. "But David found strength in the Lord, his God." You see, David's circumstances looked hopeless
at that moment, but God strengthened and directed him. And this is what I love about David's story. Sometimes God doesn't change the situation that we're in immediately. Sometimes he does. But sometimes God doesn't change the situation. Sometimes he strengthens you to face it. Some of you are facing something that seems impossible right now. I've heard people say, God will never give you more than you can handle. That's just not biblical. God will absolutely allow you to have more than you can handle on your own. But with his help, you absolutely can. God can and will give you the strength to get through the storm. Even when it feels like that there is no hope that there's no future and no purpose. Who do you need a reminder of this? Maybe you need to be reminded of this. What about Elijah? Elijah became so discouraged that he wanted to die. he came to a broom bush, sat down under it, and prayed that he might die. I've had enough, Lord," he said, "take my life, I'm no better than my ancestors." This is encouraging to me because God didn't condemn him. He didn't scold him, he didn't get on to him, he gave him rest, he gave him food, and he gave him a new assignment. Sometimes the most holy thing you can do is take a nap. All my nappers said, "Amen!"
Especially Sunday afternoons after lunch, there's just something holy about that nap, right? Well, sometimes we get to running at such a pace that we're tired, we're wore down, we're trying to make sense of things that are just senseless, and sometimes we just need to allow God to give us rest in that season. Elijah's story reminds us that God can meet you when you're completely exhausted, and you don't have the strength to keep going. Some of you need to hear that right now. What about the disciples? You know, when Jesus was crucified, the disciples believed that he was the Messiah, but his crucifixion appeared to destroy everything that they had hoped for. All of their hopes and dreams, the fulfillment, they thought was gone. There's two disciples on the road to Emmaus, they said, in Luke 24, 21, says, "But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel, and what is more, it is the third day since all this took place," then Jesus himself shows up, though they didn't recognize him initially. You know, sometimes God's working even when you can't recognize him yet. You ever notice sometimes you get so focused on the tragedy, or you get so focused on the trial or the storm that you're facing, that you just forget to look to your left and to your right, for the people that God places beside you to walk through that storm, oftentimes God's right there with you, and you don't even recognize it. I could go on and on with examples, but God's called us to carry a message of hope to as many people as we possibly can, regardless of your circumstances, regardless of how you entered this room today. I want you to know that there's hope, regardless of the storm that you were facing tomorrow, God will not forsake you, he will not abandon you. Does it mean that there's not going to be some resistance along the way? No, it does not. You're going to face some resistance. There's going to be some difficult times.
There's going to be some things that you go through that you're not sure how you're going to make it. I was listening to a story between a father and his son, and the young man was becoming a pilot, and his dad asked him a question. He said, "How does a plane take off? What direction does a plane go?" When he asked that question, he paused, and I thought, "Well, I hope down the runway." He looked at his dad, and he said, "Well, against the wind, preferably." He said, "That's right." He said, "Because it takes resistance from the wind to pick you up from where you are to get you to where you're going." We love a tailwind, don't we? We love the comfort of help, security. We love the comfort that comes along with knowing that we've got someone pushing us. But in life, there is going to be times when the resistance that you're facing is going to pick you up from where you are and take you to where God's calling you to go. I will tell you, I'm just saying this personally, I don't know that I've ever grown when I was comfortable. It was only in the moments when I had to get uncomfortable with myself that I got outside of myself, and God was able to pick me up from where I was and take me to where he didn't want me to go. Some of you are facing resistance right now in your prayer as God just takes this cup from me. I want you to change your prayer when you leave here today. I want your prayer to be God. I pray you take this cup from me, but if it is not your will to take this cup from me, God will you strengthen me to be able to handle the resistance that's coming my way? Would you strengthen me in such a way that I can be a reflection and a light in the dark place in the people around me when everybody in the world says that I shouldn't have hope, when everybody in the world says that life should end, when everybody in the world says
I should throw in the towel, I'm going to have hope. I'm going to carry that hope into this next storm because God, I know that you will not forsake me and you will not leave me. That's my prayer for us as a church. Well why am I teaching on this because our job as the body of Christ goes beyond the four walls of this building. And God's called us to carry that hope. with Jesus into every community, into every school, into every classroom, into every job interview, into every opportunity that we possibly have. You go, well, pastor, what are y'all doing about that? I'll tell you what, I am so thankful for this church. And if you've been around here for any amount of time, you'd know the heart of this church. The church is you guys, by the way. It's not the name on the front of the building. The way that you reach the next one, the way that you reach the hurting, the way that you care beyond yourself, do we get it wrong sometimes? Absolutely. You know, I was thinking about grief share. I remember, Ms. Theta, when she came to me about grief share three years ago, and she said, Pastor Tim, I think we need to start grief share. And I said, well, I'm glad you're gonna leave that. She said, well, that's not really what I had in mind. In the last three years,
there's been over 60 people that have walked through grief share and have found hope on the backside of the loss of a loved one. That's smuggling hope, amen. Not dope, hope. When you get a shirt made that says, no dope, just hope. (audience laughs) What about thanks serving? We're not gonna slow down feeding those that are hungry. We're gonna do everything in our power, everything in our ability to reach as many people as we possibly can. Was it about the turkeys or did it, about the hams? No, not at all. It's about sharing hope. We smuggle hope in a box dressed as a Thanksgiving turkey. This is the third service, so I've got all new jokes. (audience laughs) What about the Christmas mall? Is it just about toys? Yeah, you're right. There's been 2,129 kids that have received presents at Christmas just in the last five years from our campus. But it's not about that. It's about letting someone know that you care enough about 'em, that you love 'em enough to share the hope of Jesus Christ with 'em. And let 'em know, regardless of what they're walking through, that there's hope on the other side of this storm,
there's hope on the other side of this tragedy. I've heard so many testimonies from so many. I've heard so many testimonies from those listening in through Pando. I've got a stack of letters. I want you guys to know that I read every one of those letters. I have not had an opportunity to respond to all of 'em yet, but I've read every single one of 'em. And I've prayed over every one of 'em. And I'm committed to that. I don't care how late I have to stay up at night. Don't get discouraged if you haven't received a response from me. I know some of you may be. I will respond, or our team will. We're not gonna stop reaching those in this community. We're not gonna slow down on the outreach that God has called us and commissioned us to do. We're not gonna do it. We're gonna do everything that we can till it is. As long as there's breath in our lungs, we're gonna do everything in our power to reach the hurting and reach the lost in the next one. I realize we probably should do a better job of letting you know the outreach that we're doing. But this is a balance because I don't want it to come across as we're bragging. No, we're not any better than any other church. This is just what God's trusted us with to do. This past week, we purchased the food to go in the backpacks to send home with the kids on Friday
that maybe need a little extra help on the weekend. Well, we don't announce that. We don't blast that all over social media. We have, this is a cool one. We had the privilege of feeding the band before the football game, I think it was last week. And I got a message from someone that doesn't even come to our church. And it said, "The green bar band had dinner "with your church before a football game. "I wanted to say thank you and share what has happened. "One of the students does not have the opportunity "at home to know Jesus. "This student did express he wanted a Bible "to see what it was about. "Your event feeding the band, he was able to get a Bible. "Our youth pastor made sure of that. "He is definitely reading the Bible "because he is already asking questions. "And he is wanting to try to go to church. "This last sentence got me. "Thank you so much for really doing this. "We can have the best of intentions, "but we have to really do it. "We have to really carry the hope "that only comes with having a relationship with Jesus. "So why am I talking about this? "I'm sharing with you about our heart and our passion "for local missions because a lot of times "when we start talking about global missions,
"the very first statement that I get is, "why are we traveling half around the world "to help someone when the need is right here in our backyard? "Some of you have probably thought that before. "Can I just tell you that we are not slowing down "on our local missions? "We are going to do everything in our power "to address every need that comes in front of us. we can to reach the needs that's right here in our community, to reach the needs that's right here in the state of Arkansas, to reach the needs across the United States. You guys saw the picture of the United States. We're gonna do everything that we can. But the reason that we don't stop there is because of what Jesus told us to do. This isn't our plan. This is God's plan. In Matthew 2819, I want you to revisit this for a second. He says therefore go and make disciples of what? All nations. All nations. Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I've commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age. We have a heart for missions beyond the walls of this building, beyond the borders of this city, beyond the borders of this state, beyond the borders of this country because Jesus commanded us to do so. He's called us to go. This past summer we took a team of 16 from right here to our campus to Peru. In 2017, Pastor Adam and myself had an opportunity to join a group of men to travel to Peru on a mission trip. I took my son at the time because I thought my son needed to experience that. Little did I know that his dad needed to experience it more than my son did. It was at that moment, I knew that God was calling me to more, but it was at that moment that God confirmed the calling on my wife to be a pastor. God wrecked me that week, that 10 days that we were there. And I remember getting on the plane on the tarmac, looking out the window, I can still see the window I was looking out. And I say God if you can break my heart like that for the people of another country that I may never see again, I need you to wreck my heart for the people of Greenbriar Arkansas. Be careful what you pray for. He did. That's one of the reasons that I'm standing here before you right now. Sometimes God calls us to get uncomfortable. He called me to be uncomfortable. But this
summer we took 16 to do a medical outreach and in that week's time we were able to treat 625 people with anti-parasitics and medication and antibiotics for those that needed it. Can I tell you that that has an impact? Yes. We shared the hope of the gospel. But we also put it to work. Faith without works is what? Dead. And what we have found is a church, and I mentioned this at the beginning of the message, is we're not just one church, we're not just one campus. We have 19 soon to be 20 campuses across the state of Arkansas. And what we found is when we come together and we are shoulder to shoulder with other campuses and with other people around the state, and we partner together and we go reach the needs, we're able to have a long-term, larger impact than if we just go for one week and come back. It's great when you're able to go for a week and have an impact on a mission trip. As a matter of fact, the people that went, I promise you will tell you that it changed their life. You can't come back the same. I got two of them shaking their head. Yes. Yes. Congratulations. That's pretty ring to, by the way. When you get to a place where you eliminate the distractions and you focus on what it is that God's calling you to, and you experience His presence in someone's life, and you watch someone find hope, you can't live your life the same. You can't. So I want you to hear from my friend Pablo, the Aaron Borgos, that is doing ministry there day in and day out in that community. You guys check out this video. We did have relatives here. When we came to Iquitos, I never met an uncle, and I never met a grandpa or grandma. So the church became our family. I learned to preach when I was in the mission of you, when I was eight years old. I saw so many miracles happening and that helped us in our faith. So now that we are in the ministry full-time, we just remember that we saw that and that helped our faith. Life was a little different in those times. But in the middle of that, Jesus was faithful, thousands of people that we reached with medicine, with food, with education, and salvation. Pastor, you know and all of these pastors, they know we count by thousands, Pastor. That is God. d c t There is a lot of child trafficking, child abuse. And when I say child trafficking, our state has border with three countries-- Ecuador, Brazil, and Colombia.
And all of those countries are connected only by this wide open river, Amazon. So when you get into a boat, nobody will check that. Therefore, the traffic here is big. And there is a lot of needs. So we bring the gospel, but what else? They're hungry. They need to eat. They need dress. They need more. They need education too. So how can we serve them? We cannot charge them any money. They don't have money. Their parties don't have money. They don't have money, but some of them, they only have one meal per day. First God for a church like this and the leadership of the pastors here and the church there, in Arkansas, a new life church, that we started this together. Now we have the opportunity to invest in their lives forever. You can help one child at a time. Together, one by one, we will bring salvation and hope for this generation, they will become a better students, a better parents, a better sons and daughters. And they will get into the ministry, not only preaching what the wars say. They will show them, as example, what, look what the Lord has done in me. I was suffering.
I was in the poverty. I was suffering all of these things and look what the Lord has done for me, pastor. It's going to be wonderful. We need to help these kids. And it's now, it's now. When we started a missionary school, it was hard. And I cannot imagine working by ourselves. If we will get to this point by ourselves, only God did that, pastor. What has happened from last year to right now? Pastor, we've been working here for three years now. We've finished the elementary school and the kindergarten. And in that time, the Lord just led us to open school because so much need that we saw and we witnessed together in this city. But we need to go for the next label, which is high school. They are going to finish soon. Are we going to send them back to the war? Are we going to send them to their houses saying no more school, no pastor. We cannot do that. We need to work together again. And we need to finish what we started. We have the foundations. We finish the church here. We finish the elementary school. And now they need a high school. I think that we can finish that. We have to finish this.
We want to open the high school 12th of March 27. And we can do it together. We saw so many miracles happening in all of these years. Pastor, New Life Church, and the church here in the Amazon. We are reaching so many people, so many lives. That's changing now. We can stop here. Let's go for this generation now. Let's build in a high school. Let's get in these young people. And let's training them. Giving them a good education. Giving them the word of God. Worshiping together with them. Come on. This is a life style pastor. Made a Lord bless us, help us to finish well when we started giving them the opportunity to have-- It's got time to make disciples, it's got time to build churches, it's got time to go for the souls, it's got time to go for the next village, it's got time to do the ministry. The time is now. My name is Pablo Arimborgo, and this is a holy way. I think that's a great place to give God some praise, amen? I know that one of the things that Pastor Byron and Pastor Adam were concerned with was when I started talking about Peru that I could do it in less than 35 minutes. Well, just for the record, I didn't, it's 35 minutes and 14 seconds, but I'll wrap it up quick. We have been sending teams to Peru for several years now, and we have been able to personally witness the change and what's happening in that community. We were able to visit San Francisco, which is one of the communities up to Amazon as well as Fire Roté that we'd never sent a team into, and there are so many villages and so many communities up and down the Amazon River that has needs. And we are committed long-term. There has been a lot of prayer that has went into this decision to partner with Peru, moving forward. And as you guys know, we sent out two different mission teams last year, one to Costa Rica, one to Peru, and we will probably go back to Costa Rica as well. But one thing that we do know is that God is calling us to partner with Peru long-term. And what we found through experience, it's one thing when you send a team to another country or into a region for one week and then you leave. Yes, you have an impact while you're there, but it's the people that have boots on the ground, the other 360 days out of the year, that is still reaching the needs and they're still showing up and they're still day in and day out doing everything they can to share the hope of the gospel with those that are in that community.
And we believe in the Erin Borgos. They have a proven track record for us. We know, I will tell you too, I want to tell you about the sponsorship opportunity that we all have in just a second, but the one thing that I know, you guys give me just a minute, I'm going to wrap it up, I promise, and hurry. But one of the things that we do know is that when we partner long-term, we can see an impact that far out last just our visit in that time. And one of the things that was important to us with the sponsorship program was the accountability and the oversight financially. So we will need to make sure that when someone sponsors somebody that there's accountability and there's oversight and that those funds are going to that region in that community. And that's one of the things that I love about hope for all nations is we have the oversight, we have the accountability and the majority of the funds, the sponsorship. Obviously, there's some administrative fees and I'll be glad to talk through every one of those. There's any question you have myself. I'll be out there, Pastor, Pastor Adam. But what we do is we have about, there's about 75 people that are on cards, sponsorship cards in the foyer. And these are children from Nauta and Aquitos, the school that you notice with the blue top on it, we as New Life Church, we actually built that school. We finance that for there. So it is a church and it's also a school, there are kids living upstairs in that school right now, and we were able to do medical outreach there in that location this year when we went. But the children that we're sponsoring are from that area as well as Aquitos, which they have a church there in Aquitos as well. Another area that you have the ability to sponsor is the Mission School. So we have a school in the Amazon jungle where they bring people in that have a calling on their life and train them to be pastors for three years and then send them back out into their communities, into their villages up the river to share the gospel to smuggle the hope into their region, right? And so your sponsorship is helping with that. You go, well, somebody else can do it. Well, if we don't go, who will? And we know that there is a lot of need. It's not going to change the way that we do outreach here locally because I believe that God's called us to go from the neighborhoods to the nations. It's very clear in His Word. But for $39 a month, you can sponsor a child. Now, it takes three sponsorships to fully sponsor someone. There's a cost that ministry school, as you can imagine, there's roughly 26 pastors there now that are being trained to be pastors and it costs money to feed them. It's around $1,000 a week to feed 26 people in the middle of the Amazon jungle. Now, they're working on stuff and planting gardens and different things and raising chickens. That was one of the chicken houses that they were building, so they're doing different things to be self-sufficient, but there is still a cost to that. a cost to that. We want to continue that continue to be with them to help with food insecurity. We want to continue with the Clean Water Initiative. And I believe that together when we come together shoulder to shoulder with the other campuses, like I said, there's eight other campuses, so nine of us total. When we come together and we partner together to reach the needs in that community, we're able to have an impact that goes far greater than just one week mission trip. So I want you to be in prayer. We've got baptisms. We're going to celebrate. We've got worship that we're still going to do. But when we dismiss, I want you to be led by the Holy Spirit. Now there's a lot of people that may not have the
opportunity to get on an airplane and travel to another country to serve. But I believe God calls some to go and calls some to go and He calls some to send. And it may be He's calling you to help support. So $39 a month is manageable. And the reason that we've broken it down that way is because it is more manageable. And we also ask that if you're wanting to do three sponsorships that you spread that out. And that way the sponsorships, if one person gets sick or can't continue with the sponsorship, then that one person isn't just dropped from the sponsorship form. So if you want to do multiple sponsorships, you can. But if you see someone out there for those of you that are in the room that went on that trip, those are the faces that we served. So you may see someone there that you recognize and you want to sponsor them. Maybe someone from the mission school that may have been someone from a keto sonata. But my prayer is is that we continue to reach the next one. Amen. If you would buy your hedge for me. Father, I thank you for the opportunity that you've given us to reach the next one. But God also realized that there are people in this room right now that they feel hopeless. They feel like the challenge that they're facing and what they're going through is something that God just doesn't seem like there could be hope on the backside of it. Father, we know that with your help there is. So right now, if you're in this room and you're at a place or maybe you relate to David's story or Elijah's story or the disciples and you just feel like that you're in a place where you just need God to show up. Would you just slip your hand up for me? I just want to pray for you. Anybody in this room? Yeah, I see. Yes, I see. Yes, I see. Father, I thank you for every hand that went up today. God, we know too that our hope starts with a decision to invite you into our life and to be forgiven of our sins. So God, if there's anyone here that doesn't know you as their personal Savior, God, I pray right now that they make that decision to invite you in. Does it mean they have all the answers? No. Does it mean that their life is perfect? No. But God, that's where it starts. So Father, for everyone else that was here,
maybe they've got a relationship with you, but at this moment in life, they just feel like they're distant from you. So God, would you be with them? Would you meet them right there where they're at? God, I thank you for the work that the Aaron Borgoes are doing in Peru. God, we thank you for the opportunity that you've given us to reach the next one right here in Greenbriar, right here in the state of Arkansas and around the United States. But God, you've called us to go to all nations. And Father, we're just trying to be obedient with your word. So God, I just ask that you give us wisdom, you give us discernment. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. We give God some praise in this place. Amen. [BLANK_AUDIO]
