Yeah, I have found in my life, even when speaking with people who don't believe in Jesus, that even when atheists say the name of Jesus something hits when they say the name of Jesus and it's not magic it's authority I've seen this on TV but I've never seen it in real life on TV I've seen the police when the when the robber leaves he go stop in the name of the law and something about that law the name of the law and the robbers just like why because that officer is invoking a name and authority that has been given to him from a higher power you got to know

that a lot of the things that we go through a lot of the things that we wrestle a lot of it of the result of our bad choices but there are also things known as devils and demons there's a whole nother unseen world that plagues on our minds and ravages our hearts and you know it's true because there's some times when out of left field of thought hits you out of right field of feeling hits your heart and you're like oh man where did that come from a lot of people just kind of go through that cycle in their life but I want to let you know that when you say the name stop in the name stop in the name I just when I when I see that I just picture every demon like not because of who you are but because of the authority that you invoked a higher power that you called on and now they gotta go and now they gotta flee and now darkness has got to run now light fills the scene I want you to know if you came into church today just barely making it by just barely going through if you shout the name of Jesus if you whisper the name of Jesus if you can mutter the name of Jesus things change things break things gotta go things get to come it's not magic it's authority in the name of Jesus come on to clear it when I say it when I say it something about that name there is no other name come on with me right now would you begin to clear the name of Jesus right now Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus over my mind Jesus over my body Jesus over my marriage Jesus over my children Jesus over my home Jesus over my city Jesus over my country Jesus over politics Jesus over education Jesus over the schools Jesus over relationships Jesus over depression and anxiety and bondage and sickness Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus come on Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus you don't know what to pray Jesus we thank you Jesus for being the name that we can call on when we don't know what else to say and we don't know where else to go we call on you in that beautiful name we pray amen amen come on if you believe what you just prayed put your hands together give God

This is footage that was recorded from our Kissimmee Campus meeting in Gateway High School, y'all. They had two services packed to the brim. That auditorium can fit 700 people, and in the second service, they were pulling out chairs so that they could find places for people to sit. And it's just amazing what God is doing. And I know for some people that this is a new experience. We're all, man, churches in multiple locations, and, you

know, it's kind of big, and why is this getting big? And I don't think big is really the issue. I think the goal, by the way, is to make the kingdom of God as big as possible as we can make it. Get as many people into heaven, get as many people out of hell, but I don't ever want you to feel like church becomes less personal as the kingdom grows, because the goal of church was never for you. It was never. Our hope for you was never that you would attend a church. That wasn't the goal. The goal really was always for you to belong to a community, and those are different things. You could sit in a church for a long time and never experience community, because you're afraid to get involved because of what happened at the last church, or you're just maybe an introverted person, and I want you to know it isn't until you step out onto the other side of relationship that God does the best work in your life, which makes today really an open door and an amazing opportunity, because today our small group database goes live today. Small groups, what, what? If you're new to our church, small groups are where we get into community around our city, and we've got small groups that meet in all different parts of the city, Kissimmee, East Orlando, Fern Park, downtown, and they meet on different subjects. Some of them will meet on movies. Some of them will meet in sports. We got a basketball group.

We got a pickleball. I was like, what's the name? I'm hungry. Pickleball group, that one. Volleyball group. We got groups that meet on anime. We got groups that just study the Bible and come together and hang out, and I want to encourage your freedom groups, of course, married groups, single groups. We got a lot of groups. Listen, we have 185 different small groups that you can be a part of, and while that sounds like a lot, on a Sunday, we'll see over 7,000 people, and so I just need you to know there are not enough groups for the people, and that's not a flex. That is a prayer request, okay? I need you, if God is calling you, to step into your leadership calling and start opening up either your home or your park and start inviting people to come into community. Also, it is a heads up that as soon as this service is over, not while I'm preaching, but as soon as this service is over, you want to get on that Journey Church app and you want to find a group that is near you that you can, that fits your schedule, that you can join, and so get in a group. We're really passionate about them. I just know it's where God does his best work in community. Also, if this is your first time, I'd love it if you came back next Sunday because next Sunday we're going to kick off our Love, Sex, and Marriage series, everybody. Love, Sex, and Marriage series. It's about relationships, and it is for you. Well, you don't know my relationship status. I don't even know. It's for you. I promise. If you're single, it's for you. If you're dating, it's for you. If you're married, it's for you. If you're divorced, it's for you. If you're married and want to get divorced, it's for you. If you're widowed, it's for you. And if you don't know what you are, it is definitely for you. Somebody like, it's complicated. It's a situation, and it's definitely for you. You're going to have a great time. It's always a lot of fun, and I think God does a lot of healing through this series as well. All right, are you guys ready to get into the Word of God today? Amen, I'm ready to preach it. You know, if you're new to church, if this is your first time, you shouldn't be surprised by what I'm about to say, and that is that we are surrounded by people, and you are surrounded by people in this world today who actually believe that God speaks. Like, we actually believe it. And not just through His Word, because we know that that is true, but that He speaks in the everyday. And every January as a church, we come alongside what we call the vision, and it is a word or a phrase that we believe God has asked our church to rally around, not to cheer or rah-rah, but

more important than that, to get direction. We believe that God is letting us know that, hey, I want to do something in your life this year. This is what I want to do in your year. Let's go do this. And I've never been more convinced about a phrase or a word in my life, and we've been doing this every year now. This year we'll make 10 years. I've never been more than the one we're sure this year, because we believe like the vision for this year was, follow me. And the reason why I say that with such conviction is because those were Jesus's words. Come on, when you get your vision straight from Jesus, I mean, he was the one who said, follow me. He said, follow me in Matthew. He said it in Mark. He said it in Luke. He said it in John. Come, follow me. Now, as we shared that vision for our year, I realized I never got the opportunity to express to you why those words are so significant, why they're so powerful. It's more than just two words put together. There's a whole history behind those words. And it all starts with the understanding of the Jewish educational system in first century Israel. They had elementary school, kind of like we had elementary school, but absolutely like nothing that we have. The school that they went to at the age of five was called Bet Sefer. And Bet Sefer means the house of the book. And the reason why they call it the house of the book is because the curriculum that they studied was not algebra.

It was not physics. It was not geometry. It was not social studies, whatever that is. The thing that they studied from five to ten was the Bible, specifically the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. And they would study and study, and they would study even up to 12 and 13 years old. And many Jewish children, catch this, by the age of 12 would have the entire Torah memorized. First five books memorized. That's wild. Now, if you were a really good student, if you showed a lot of aptitude, if you showed a lot of spunk, like they're like, I think this guy got it. I can tell he's into it. She's into it. Then you would go on to another school. You would get invited to be a part of a school called Bet Midrash. And Bet Midrash translates into house of learning. Because that's exactly what happened. Your learning would get expanded. Now you weren't just studying the first five books. Now you were studying the entire Old Testament. You're reading the prophets. You're reading the poetry. There's 150 psalms. You're reading all the psalms. And by the age of 17, wait for it, you would have the entire Old Testament memorized. Word for word. I thought you'd be more impressed. I was waiting for a lot more wows. You can't even memorize one verse. You're not going to give it up for people that memorized all of it?

They'd be like, Psalm 23. Something about a sheep. I don't know. I don't know. I think that's impressive, the whole thing. And then if you were really good, I mean, if you were the best of the best of the best, you would apply to study under a rabbi. And everybody wanted to study under a rabbi. Because rabbis were the rock stars of first century Israel. I mean, they were Taylor Swift. The rabbis were like Bad Bunny. But, like, good. They were like Bueno Bunny. Good. And I look nothing like him, by the way. And stop tagging me. All right? But it wasn't easy to study under a rabbi. The rabbi would drill you. He would ask you questions. He would want to know about your theology. He'd want to know how you interpret certain scriptures. He'd want to know about your family and your history and make sure that you're worthy. And if he deemed you worthy, then the rabbi would look at you and he would say, Come, follow me. And that is the power of those words. And what makes it even crazier and more powerful is understanding the people Jesus went around inviting. Fishermen. Tax collectors. Prostitutes.

I don't know if you caught on yet, but it's the people who flunked out of school. The people who couldn't memorize the verses. They were the people who the world deemed not good enough, who the world deemed unqualified, were the very same people that Jesus went up to and said, They didn't pick you, but I pick you. They didn't say you were good enough, but I say you were good enough. Come, follow me. Which makes sense now when you know that why Peter was so quick to throw down his fishing net, which was essentially his business to follow Jesus because he thought he had flunked out. And now here comes the rock star saying, You got a second chance. Come follow me. So Peter just throws down the net. Yes, let's go. Makes sense why Matthew, the tax collector, was willing to pay back twice as much what he stole from being a tax collector. I'll give it all back. You mean I get a chance to be with the rabbi? Oh, heck yeah, I'm coming. I'm in. And it's why we got to be careful. about the way we treat the marginalized of our society because the marginalized are the people Jesus calls. We got to be careful that we treat people differently because they are racially marginalized. We got to be careful treating people differently because of their financial status. We got to be careful treating the marginalized who are marginalized because of their immigration status. Should people enter the country legally? Absolutely. 100%. And should we treat humans like humans? Absolutely. 100%. Legal, undocumented, you were made in the image of God. You got to treat people like that. Now, it's interesting to note that when he called people, and he called a lot of people, not everybody who he called followed. And the Bible separates those into two categories. Calls them the crowd and the followers, also known as disciples. And not everyone in the crowd wanted to come. And it's important to understand the crowd. I've been talking about this all month. This is important. The crowd weren't always people who hated Jesus. Some people didn't like Jesus

that were in the crowd. But there were some people in the crowd who clapped for Jesus. There were some people in the crowd who loved Jesus. There were some people in the crowd who even believed that Jesus was the Son of God and would not follow Jesus. There, the Bible talks a story about a rich young man who went up to Jesus and said, I believe you're it. You're the Messiah. I'm ready to go. I'm following. And what do I got to do? And Jesus looked at him and he said, all you got to do is sell everything you have and follow me. And the Bible says that the young man put his head down and walked away because he had great wealth. I'm trying to tell you today that there are a lot of people who believe in Jesus. There are a lot of people who love Jesus, but not many people who follow Jesus. And what God is calling you to today and what my prayer is for everyone in this room this year, 2026, that we go from the crowd to being followers. That we align our life with his life. We align our heart with his heart. We align our ways with his ways. That we look at Jesus and we go, I'm not just in love with you. I want to be like you in every single way. Now, what happens after the call? That's what I want to preach about today. What happens after the call when Jesus says, come follow me, and we lay down our nets and we lay down our tax money, we give it back and all those things we stole and we pick up our cross and we follow. What happens next? Well, the Bible actually gives us a great example of what happened after a rabbi would call you. In John chapter one, verse 35 to 36, you can read along with me on the screen. The next day, John was there again with two of his disciples, John being John the baptizer. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, look, the lamb of God. Verse 37, and when the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, what do you want? If it was me, I'd have been like, a million dollars. Or maybe I got a sick family member, and I'm like, my mom needs healing. Or maybe I got a dad in jail. I'm like, my dad needs freedom. What do you think they're going to say? Look at their answer. What do you want? They get to ask Jesus for anything. Verse 38, they said, rabbi. They are applying for his school. Now, it makes sense. That's why it says rabbi means teacher. They're like, can we get in? Rabbi. Look what they asked for. Where are you staying? They didn't ask for a milli. They didn't ask for freedom. They didn't ask for a miracle. All they wanted was to be with him. Just be with them. And look what Jesus says. Verse 39, he accepts them into their school, into his school. Come. Come. And I like this. He says, and you will see. And I just got a feeling that when he said, and you will see, he meant more than, and you will see my house.

Auntie was like, and you're going to see some things that are going to blow your mind. So they went and saw where he was staying. And they spent that day. Will you say these next two words with me? With him. It was about four in the afternoon. The Bible doesn't often mention times only when they're relevant. And the reason why it's mentioning four in the afternoon is because it's about to become evening. And so the implication is, and they had such a good time with Jesus that they spent all night talking with him. After Jesus says, follow me, he says the title of our message today. Not just follow me. Hear the words of the Lord today. Be with me. Be with me. I'm gonna give you a heads up, a little disclaimer. I'm gonna do a lot more teaching today than I am gonna do preaching. I can shout with the best of them, but I feel like what I'm gonna share today is a tool. And I don't say this. If you come to church often and you hear me preach, what I'm about to say I don't say often, but I mean this. I don't think I've ever said it. What I share with you today, I really believe is going to be the most important teaching I teach all year. And I really want you to lean in, because this has the power to not just change your life, but to change your relationship with God. Now, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't come next Sunday because you already heard the most important message I'll teach all year, because you wanna keep it going. I just think that this thing changes everything. So, if you know anything about Jesus, you probably know it from reading the Bible, or if you're not in church, you didn't grow up in church, you probably learned it from watching TVs,

movies, Santa, Christmas. You probably heard Jesus was born in a manger from a virgin, and there were some wise men and some shepherds. There was a star. There was gifts. You probably heard that he lived the perfect life. You probably heard that he died on the cross. You probably heard that three days after he died on the cross, he resurrected from the dead. You probably heard that after he resurrected from the dead, he spent 40 days on earth just walking around with holes in his hands, and then ascended to heaven to be seated at the right hand of God. And then you probably heard that he's coming back today, coming back again. I was about to say that. Maybe he could, but. Passengers, have the raptures happening? I didn't say it. But he's coming back again. And if you have been exposed to Christianity in any way, then you probably heard he did all of that to wipe away your sins. And then you probably heard that he did all of that so that you and I could go to heaven. And while all of that is true, all of that misses the point. Because the reason why Jesus died to wipe away our sins is because our sins are the thing that keep us from Jesus. And the reason why he wants us to go to heaven is because heaven is the place where Jesus is. So let me say to you like you might have never heard it

before. Jesus did not die on a cross and resurrect so that you could go to heaven. He died on a cross and resurrected so that you could be with him. Amen. So that you could be with him. Being with Jesus is the apex of following Jesus. If I was 17, if I was preaching to my teenagers, if my teenagers were here, I'd probably say something like, following Jesus is peak. Which if you don't know what that means, you don't have teenagers. Keep going with the sermon. It means it's the best. It means it's the greatest experience. And you need to know being with Jesus is what all this is about. It's why we sing songs. It's why we preach messages. It's why we have Bibles. It's why we send out missionaries. It's why we do community outreach. Peak is not miracles. Peak is not worship. The apex, the peak is being with Jesus. This is why people who try to understand Christianity hit a wall. Because even in those terms, they are looking at this like a religion, which Christianity is. But Jesus did not die on a cross to convert us to a religion.

Jesus died on a cross to rescue us for relationship. The problem is Christianity is a label. Jesus Christ is a person. Jesus didn't die to put a label on my chest. He died to put a person in my heart. To have a relationship with God. And he with me. It's all about being with him. All of it is about being with him and he with us. It's all about it. It's with Genesis 1. That's what it was about. It was about being together. That's what it was all about. And if that sounds dull to you. If that sounds boring to you. If that doesn't appeal to you because you came to church today and you got real problems. You got to be with Jesus. I got bills to pay. Be with Jesus, Pastor J.J., respectfully. You don't know what is going on with my kids. Be with Jesus. My mom got diagnosed with cancer. And your advice to me is be with Jesus. And I can understand that. I can understand that. why you would be frustrated I can understand why you would think this is not your Sunday but I'm gonna just say this I think when you say that when you think that or when you feel that you are just forgetting all the things that can

come out of being with I just think you forgot so I'm just gonna remind you about some of the things they can come out of just being with peace can come out of being with you know how I know it happened just the other day just this Friday peace came out of being with I have my car I didn't go to the mechanic you don't you do chores like that on your off day my off day Friday I work on Sunday so you just got that like that's true my off days Friday so I had to go take my car to the mechanic nobody wants to do chores on their off day and so but I asked this my wife passed this I was like hey um come me to drop the car off and she asked a great question why and I was like like trying to logic it I was I was gonna come up with some answer about like miles or by like saving gas money or about an errand that we had to run and at the end of the day I was like cuz I want you cuz there's something about you being in the car with me while I'm going throughout my day I want you when I'm with you I feel calm when I'm with you I feel peace when I'm with you I'm alright some there is a peace that comes when you're with the right person peace comes from being with you know what else comes from being with joy comes from being with joy comes to be you ever eat a great meal at a restaurant alone you're like oh this is so good oh my gosh it's so good and then you're so desperate you just look at the table next to you're like you look at this what did you order that looks good this is good or with your family at the table you take a bite you like mmm and you put the fork in their mouth you got to try this you gotta try this why does food taste better when you're with cuz pleasure comes with joy comes with why are sunsets more beautiful when you're with cuz there's something about being with that didn't like pleasure that unlocks joy you know what else comes from being with this is a good one you become like who you be with I'm say for the teenagers in the room you become like who you be with are you laughing at me eyes is that too hip is that it's who I am anyway you ever seen this this is not AI this is real this is real this is not AI I feel like I'll preface that this is real dogs who look like their owners and owners who look like their dogs this is real they were interviewed

I know you don't believe me I'm past I'm telling the truth this is real they ask the owners they're like what happened they're like we don't know this next was my favorite cuz I'm a pastor this was my favorite come on a dog will lay hands on you you can't say a dog will lay a paw because without even knowing it or realizing it we become like who we be with well Pastor Liz and I got married early on in our marriage our pastor gave us great advice he said only have one TV in the house he said so that no one can retreat and it was great advice also caused us to compromise a lot because we do not watch the same things when we got married we had all the important things in common Jesus and nothing else man we had nothing else in common we're just different she likes fashion she loves fashion wanted to go to Miami to study fashion loves fashion I could care less about clothes when I open up the book of Genesis they're not there I look at I look at clothes I'd be like clothes are a part of the curse man I'm not even supposed to have them I'm not even about but not her she loves it she loves it and that's that's how I know all our first-time guests I know who you are without telling me because I'll be in the lobby and they'll be like I love your outfit I'm like you must be a first-time Yes. Or you would know. Pastor Liz buys it and fix it out, and I just, and I wear it. Because I have zero fashion sense. I like sports. She does not. Our first date, we were at Cheesecake Factory, and we were on our way to the beach. On the way to the beach, I'm

like, I'm like, I'm really excited about the Yankees this year. They got good, they got good pitching. They got pitching this year. And she said, no lie. Who's pitching? Now, she did not mean, who is the pitcher? She's like, what's the first name of the man with the last name pitching? And it was at that moment where I was like, well, at least she got Jesus, you know? At least she got Jesus. We got Jesus in this together. So, this made TV watching very difficult in our home, because the first time I got married, she wanted me to watch this show called Project Runway. Which, if you don't know, I'm gonna summarize the whole plot. Make clothes. It's the whole show. They make clothes, and you got to watch and enjoy it. And I was suffering watching

this show. And, but I'd watch it season after season. I'm with her, I'm with her watching it, and one day, we're walking down the streets of Orlando, and as we're walking down the streets of downtown, I go, hey, babe, look, that guy's wearing pleated corduroy pants. She looked at me, said, who are you? I looked at me, and I was like, who am I? Who am I becoming? She was changing me. But she didn't change me in an education, in a class. I was changed just by being with. And here we are, 17 years into marriage, and last week, she said, who's playing in the playoffs? I was like, come on, Jesus. Won't he do it? Yes, he will. Let's go, because we become like who we be with. You know, you do like who you be with, too.

One last pass to this story, because she ain't here, so I'm going to mention this one. Don't tell her I told you, but she did something illegal in the car the other day, and Zane was in the back seat. He's older now. You know, 12 now. He was like, was that illegal, Mom? You know what she told him? She said, do as I say. Not as, yeah, but it don't work like that, do it. This is why you can never yell at your kid, calm down. Calm down already. You're crazy. You need to show some emotional restraint. He's like, I'm sorry. I don't know how to do that because I've never seen that. And I can only do as I see, or as I'm with, I can only do it. This is why, if you ever left the church because they weren't discipling you, or they didn't have discipleship programs,

or no one discipled me, I think you got the wrong idea of the word disciple. In the Bible, disciple is a noun, not a verb. You know what that means? That means it's nothing that anybody can do to you. Because a disciple is a disciple of Christ. I am who I am because of who I am following. Pastor J.J., disciple me. Then you'll become a disciple of J.J. You don't want to be a disciple of J.J. You want to be a disciple of Jesus, and that only comes by being with Jesus. Because when you are with Jesus, you become like Jesus. When you are with Jesus, you do as Jesus did. When you are with Jesus, you receive the joy of Jesus. The peace of Jesus. The power of Jesus. The hope of Jesus. The life of Jesus.

The beauty of Jesus. I can't disciple you. Oh, you're too busy? I'm not Jesus. And only Jesus can disciple you. Be with Jesus. Be with Jesus. He will. Hopefully, I convinced you. I want you to be with Jesus. That's awesome. And your next question is to be, all right, I'm ready to be with Jesus. How do I be with Jesus? That should be your next question. And I want to answer that. Jesus answered that. John chapter 15, verse 4. We're gonna read from the Amplified Version. John 15, verse 4. Jesus said, how you can be with me? He said, dwell in me. Somebody say the word dwell. And I will dwell in you. Here's what that means. The Amplified Version breaks out

the words into its definition. It means, live in me. And I will live in you. Says no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in me that is being vitally united to the vine Neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in? Me when Jesus says be with me. Here's what he's really telling you. He's telling you do well with me dwell with Me he's saying live with me. Did you know you can live with Jesus? You know that I Don't think a lot of Christians know that I Don't think a lot of people who follow Jesus know that you can live with Jesus and the reason why I don't think a lot of people know that is because I don't think a lot of people do that. I Think we have Jesus for moments. We experience Jesus for moments. I think I think we Experience Jesus and we have Jesus when we pray, but I think when we leave prayer a lot of us leave Jesus We have church we experience church and when we're in church, we have Jesus but when we leave church many of us leave Jesus that's why you can raise your hands and praise God in here and Then flip somebody off who cuts you off in traffic out there Cuz you left Jesus in here and he didn't make it into your car But you can live with Jesus another you don't have to leave Jesus at church and You don't got to leave Jesus in your morning devotional time. You can live with Jesus and I don't know about you But I need to live with Jesus because the time I need Jesus the most is not when I pray It's after I pray The time when I need Jesus the most is not when I'm at church It's when I leave church Sometimes I think the devil just be like holding back the demons and when we come to church, he's just like I'll wait

They gonna have to stop singing at some time Jesus gonna have to stop preaching at some moment and Even though this isn't biblically true they think that they're gonna step out of God's presence when they step out of the church and So when they step out of the presence, that's when we'll go When they feel alone When they feel like they left Jesus at church now you can live With Jesus this is why I said, this is the sermon I could preach a million if I preached this sermon every Sunday for the rest of the year Your life would be different Somebody would get it and it would change everything the idea of not leaving Jesus But taking him with you everywhere you go You can live with him now you might say I can't live with Jesus I live in Orlando You must say I can't I can't live with Jesus I live at work You must I can't live with Jesus. I live at home with the kids and the spouse and the older parents There's a lot going on. I can't live with Jesus because when I'm not living there I'm living in the dreamland because I'm so tired for all the things I got to do throughout the day And I can't be here you go two places at once. I can't be two places at once. Listen to me. Yes, you can You know how I know you can be two places at once because my 13 year old is always two places at once My 13 year old sometimes I'll be talking to him. I'll be like right and I'll be like Huh Where were you? We joke about it now at the house. They're like, oh, he just came back from the multiverse He was hanging out and then the universe just came back to talk to us Where were you man? I was speaking even for the last five minutes your feet were here But you were not And before we make fun of the 13 year old you do it, too How many conversations have you been in? With that person is like and what do you think? You're like

Well I gotta be honest. I I Left this conversation Five minutes ago. I'm not here. I'm so sorry I'm in two places at once while I preach to you. I'm not all here I'm preaching to you right now. And as I'm preaching to you, I'm at lunch I Been fasted 21 days. You think I ain't think about lunch right now. I'm thinking about bread pasta carbs. I'm ready to go Close your Bibles repeat after me. I'm there Maybe you can relate to this one. I'm here you can I said, but I'm also in next week I'm thinking about all the things I gotta do next week. I'm thinking Pastor Liz's birthday is Tuesday and Wednesday, gotta get all that ready. I mean, I get to get all that ready. We gotta host pastors from all over the country that are flying into Orlando to learn how to launch churches. I gotta go teach them. Tomorrow we gotta do that on top of preparing for Sunday. I'm in next Sunday's message right now. And you might be too. Trying to be here, but you didn't get to do this next week. I'm here preaching and I'm not even here. I'm here and I'm also in your mind. Because as I'm preaching, I'm thinking, are they listening to me? Are they hearing me? Is this really working? Is that guy actually sleeping?

I'm thinking of these things. Here's my question, ready? Where do you go when you're not here? Where do you go when you're not here? Where do you go? For some of us, it's a physical place, like the couch. For others, it's a digital place. Some of us, it's the couch, for some of us. Some of us are on our couch right now. We're here, but we're on our couch, ready to watch the game, eat some pizza. For some of us, it's a digital place. Have you ever noticed at a red light, at a red light, that thing's gonna change in two minutes, at a red light. Where are you going? Or, this is real bad, while the commercial's on, in the show that you're already watching. It's commercials. Where did you go? You're here, but you're not here. You with me? So for some of us, it's a physical space. For other people, it's a digital space. But for everybody, listen, it's an emotional space. Every human being has a default setting. And when we're not here, we're there. For some of us, it's anger. That's our default. For others, it's bitterness. For others, it's depression.

For others, it's anxiety. And here, here's what I'm trying, let me ask you the question in another way. What do you dwell on? What? You catching it? Because what you dwell on is where you're dwelling. It's where you live. And so here it is. Here's the message. Here's the thing that I wish I could tell you for the next 50 or 48 Sundays that we have in this year. I wish you could just learn this. Your life will change. Here's what being with Jesus means. Being with Jesus means that the second place you're at, is God. Did you catch that or did that go over? It means that when you leave here, on your way to the car, while you're walking, in here, you're thinking, Jesus is so good. Thank you for that word, Lord. Thank you for the worship. Thank you for reminding me that you never leave me because I know I'm gonna face a tough week and you're with me. When you get to work and you leave your desk to go to the water cooler, I'm contemplating Jesus as I'm walking to the water cooler. He's so beautiful.

Thank you, water. You are the water, water of living, living water. You are my life, Lord, I'm with you. And then you go back to your desk and it's living with Jesus. Is it resonating yet? And it's not just where you go in between, it's where you go even when things are crazy and hectic and busy. The best way I can illustrate this is a compass. I don't know if you ever, this is a compass and you've probably never seen it before in your life. Tells you where true north is. Now, the cool thing about north is that north never changes. It's true north. So never changes, always true. Once you find north, you can find west, you can find east, you can find south. That's called orientating or reorienting. That's important because I can't change where you are. I can't change your feet. I'm not at home, I'm not at church, I'm at work right now, I'm at work. So I can't change where my feet are. But just because you can't change where you are, listen, doesn't mean you can't change what you're oriented towards. So I'm at work, but I'm gonna orient. And here's what I love about a compass, ready? Best thing about a compass, it works anywhere.

It'll work in a swamp, it'll work on the top of a mountain, it'll work on the water, it'll work in the tundra, it'll work in one continent and another because orienting yourself works anywhere. Now, here's how you would do it. Let's say you got a little baby and you're changing diapers. That is not necessarily a holy moment. Smells, if you got a boy, there's some friendly fire going on, it's crazy. Here's what you're gonna do, ready? When you're in that moment, where is God? Where is God in this moment? I can't change my feet, but I can reorient. I'm here, but I don't want to be here. So I'm going to look for God here. Where is God here? And as you look at your baby, you start to think, oh, yeah. Thousands of families wish they had one. Thousands of families are going to spend tens of thousands of dollars trying to get one. Thousands of families are going to get rejected through the adoption process because they're not going to be able to even adopt one, and God gave me one. This child is a gift from the Lord. Thank you, Jesus, for my child. Reorienting. Reorienting. I remember one time I was changing my son when he was a baby, and he was at that age where he was going to poop again two hours later,

and I was like, why am I even wiping him if he's going to poop again in two hours? I was like, where is God? And I felt the Holy Spirit speak to me so clearly. He said, now you know how I feel when I forgive you, when I clean you, and I know you're going to do it again in two hours. But I still clean you, and I still wiped you, and I still love you. Oh, my gosh, I was wiping my son's butt like, Lord Jesus, thank you for cleaning me. I love you, Lord. I reoriented myself. How many people have ever gotten, like, an email, a text message, a DM, and it's one of those where you're like, the way I reply to this message is going to determine if I have a job on Monday, or the way I reply to this message is going to determine if we're friends on Monday, or the way I reply to this message is going to determine if I'm still married. Where are you, God? We're going to reorient, and here's what we're going to do. We're going to go, okay, Lord, you give wisdom. The Bible says you give words. So before I type, Lord, give me wisdom. Control my emotions. Help me to not speak out of anger, but to speak out of the love of God. When I write, let it be words that you'd be proud of,

and then you type, and then you click send, and then you reorient again. Lord, I trust that they're going to hear it how I meant it, and I trust that you're going to take it from here. Whatever happens, let your will be done. When you find out your 16-year-old daughter just got pregnant, where you at, God? God, this is, I brought her to church. We grew up in the ministry. I don't understand. I said, how, Lord, how could it happen? Look for God. Oh, yeah, there you are. She was never mine to begin with. She was always your child. Father, as she carries that child, you carry her, and you guard her, and you guide her, and you lead her, and you help her, and you protect her body, and you protect that baby. I surrender to you. Have you seen how it works? And then, once you know where God is, you know what to do, because you know where to go, and she'll be like, all right, God, and because she's yours, and especially if you're the dad, you're like, because she's yours and you got it, I'm not going to kill him. Because you got it. Listen to me, there's so much in the Christian life that we can't do.

We can't force healing in our lives. We can't make the miracle happen. We can't will the pregnancy. We can't push the promotion. There's nothing we can, there are a lot of things we can't do, but the reason why this message is so powerful is because there was one thing in every scenario, in every situation, and in every circumstance that you can do, you can be with God. You can take any element, any environment, any feeling, any emotion, and you can be with God. This was me, and I love what Brother Lawrence said. He's a monk. He said this years ago, hundreds of years ago. He said, he called it practicing the presence. You know why he called it practice? Because you gotta practice it, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. I did this last Sunday. Last Sunday, we baptized so many people, and I preached four services, and I went into the green room, and you know what I was thinking as I was in the green room? I was thinking three years ago when I got diagnosed with panic disorder, and I was on medication, and I was about to preach my first service of the year, and I looked at Liz, and I told Liz,

I said, this might be the last sermon I ever preach at Journey Church. My heart was pounding through my chest. I was like, I don't think I can get through this, even this, and she prayed for me best she could, and I thought, three years later, I just preached four services. I enjoyed it, and I looked at God. I said, look at what you did. Look at what you did. I reoriented in that moment. I wasn't, way to go, JJ. I was, look at God. Look at God. Look at God, because this is what he wants you to do when you be with him, ready? He said, not just be with me, not just dwell with me. I'm gonna close right here. He said, look at me. Look at me, when we are with God, we are looking at him. Psalms 27 four says this, one thing I ask from the Lord. One thing, this only do I seek, that I may dwell, we talked about dwelling, in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, but for what end? To what purpose? Are you ready? To gaze on the beauty of the Lord. To look at Jesus. Why would I want to look at him? Because something happens when I look at him.

2 Corinthians 3 18, and we all with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, we look at him. And as we look at him, we are transformed into him. We are transformed into him with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, from the spirit. See, when you look at God, guess what happens? God looks at you. And when y'all two are looking at each other, there's a love that comes. And it's good to be full of God's love. Listen to me, because when you are full of God's love, you don't have to go looking for it in other places. When you are full of God's love, you don't got to go looking for it in other places. A lot of husbands and wives will come up to you and be like, oh, my wife is not speaking my love language. My husband is not speaking my love language. Well then stop showing up empty. What if you showed up in your marriage and your heart was already full to the point where you don't even need it? What if you showed up to your marriage on Monday and you go, you know what? I know we haven't been intimate in a while and I would like that, that'd be nice, but I don't need physical touch. You know why? Because he wrapped me in his arms this morning. I got all the love that I need. Quality time is good, I wish I had it,

but he spent quality time with me this morning. Words of affirmation are good, but he spoke words over me this morning that I got that are gonna carry me. Receiving gifts are good, but I got his son. I received his spirit. He gave me the greatest gift I could ever ask for. And acts of service, fixing things, I wish you would fix more things in this house, but don't worry, because there were some broken things in my heart, but he fixed that too. He found what was broken in me and he fixed it. I showed up loved, I came loved. Imagine not caring that you weren't voted homecoming queen, prom queen, captain of the team, because you showed up loved. Imagine not caring who re-shared your post, who liked it, who did that, because you showed up loved. You showed up loved. I think Jesus would say this to us. I think Jesus would say, I showed you this treasure map three weeks ago, and I said that if you follow Jesus, that Jesus would lead you to the treasure. There'd be peace, there'd be joy, there'd be hope. And I was just quoting him when he said, I'm the way, the truth, and the life, and anybody who follows me would have that.

But I left out one other part, and I hope you don't feel catfished. But Jesus just isn't the way. He isn't just the dashed line. He's also the treasure. Here's what I think Jesus would say. Ready? I think Jesus would say, the reward for following me is me. And I know I'm going long, but in life we have this idea called chore reward, chore reward, chore reward. If I clean, I'll get money. If I work, I'll get paid. If I this, I get that. Chore reward, chore reward, chore reward. And sometimes prayer can feel like a chore. Let's be honest. Can we all be honest? I gotta pray this morning. I gotta pray, make sure I gotta pray. Prayer sounds like a chore. Prayer can sometimes feel like a chore. And let me tell you the day prayer stops feeling like a chore the day prayer stops being a chore is the day you realize being with Jesus is the reward. It's the reward. Are you ready? Because when I'm with Jesus, I receive freely with Him

the thing that I'm gonna be fighting for when I get out of His presence. Some of us are like, if I could just solve that situation out there, then I would have peace. You could have peace right now. You could have peace right now. When I get married, then I'll finally be able to feel love. When I have that baby, then I'll finally be able to feel love. You could feel loved right now. When I win the lottery, then I'll finally be rich. You could receive the riches of His glory right now. When I find my career, when I find my purpose, then I'll finally feel fulfilled. You could be fulfilled right now. And you can get it for free in His presence, in Jesus, right now. You ever meet somebody who prays all the time, like all the time, and low key feel like they're weird. They are crazy. Come on. I had a mentor like that. We'd be mid-sentence, just break out in a prayer.

I'm like, that's too much. Just mid-sentence. We'd be like, it's a great day today. He'd be like, sure is a great day. Lord, thank you for this day. that you made it's a great i was talking to you just closed his eyes and went somewhere else that was my mentor you would we'd be we'd be driving in the car he'd eat a sandwich a burger from a drive-through just i'm like how's your burger man oh so great jesus thank you lord but keep your eyes open we're driving i used to look at people like that and i used to think living with jesus being with you that's crazy you are crazy but i think when we get to heaven and when we finally see him face to face and we become overwhelmed overwhelmed i'm telling you when you get there you're gonna be overwhelmed you're not gonna have a word you're not gonna be able to say thank you you're not gonna be able to say i love you you're not gonna be able to say i got you you're gonna look at jesus and you are going to collapse because you are going to be blown away by his love for you you can blow away by the beauty of jesus and when that day comes when that day comes you're gonna look back at the way you and i the way we spent our life we're gonna look back at the shadows of our existence and we're gonna shout you're crazy you're crazy you would have why you would have rather watch hours of netflix than be with jesus you we're crazy we would have rather play fantasy football for hours than be with jesus we're gonna shout at ourselves we're
