Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?
Pastor Scott Williams returns to FLC to address the widespread issue of anxious and negative thoughts that can hold people hostage. Through biblical principles, he reveals practical methods for changing your thought patterns so your focus is on God and His promises.

We're going to have some fun today. For those of you guys that are new on the WELC, everybody join us all around the world online. My name is Scott Williams. I'd like to bring you greetings from the great state of Oklahoma, the city of Oklahoma City, home of the 2025 NBA champions, Oklahoma City Thunder. Yeah, I don't care if you like it or not. You're going to have to deal with it. You're probably going to have to deal with it for a few more years. I don't care who your team is. Anyway, a brother's proud. I don't know if you guys know, last time I was here, I said that from the stage. I don't know if it was a prophetic word, but I said it from the stage. Anyway, but man, I'm excited. The Thunder is awesome. It's been a great, great time. It's kind of cool being from a championship city, even though it's only been for a week. We walk around with a little bit of a different swag about ourself, you know what I'm saying? There's some things, like some cities, you're only known for certain things, it's like their team or whatever, and like San Antonio, only thing you know is what? The Spurs, exactly. Now, Oklahoma City, that's probably going to be the thing, but we'll get more into that
here in a minute. I'm glad to be here. Like I said, as Pastor said, I consider myself family. I'm not a guest here. Like Pastor Scott, I've known him for literally two decades. We've been friends. I love him. Pastor Sid and Derek are great. They're amazing. You guys are really blessed with some amazing leaders, and what they're doing right now in D.C., just like, there's pastors who are moving the needle and influence literally that impacts things around the globe, and so you guys are blessed with some amazing leaders. Just give them a hand clap for who they are and everything that they do. And I'm going to go ahead and warn you guys in advance, I'll go ahead and tell you either I speak really fast or you listen really slow, you know what I'm saying? So I don't know which one it is, but I'm also going to go ahead and warn you because I'm a little bit extra right now. I just, back in the back, I took two of these little pills. They're not drugs, but it's called Cognition. It's the Jay Cutler product. Man, Drew hooked me up. So anyway, like a brother's going to be a whole lot smarter, and you know what I'm saying? And then I topped that off with an energy drink that they had in the back, some AI energy drink, and so a brother is like lit lit, you know what I'm saying? But I promise you in the end, it's all going to point towards, geez, we're going to have fun again because I'm family. So I'm like, you know, family come over, they have what I call refrigerator rights. So they can show up, they can go to your house, they can go in the refrigerator without even asking, right?
So I got refrigerator rights. I'm family. So for some of you guys, I'm that cool black brother that you always wanted. Some of you guys, like I'm that cool black uncle that you always wanted. And for some of you guys, I'm that black son-in-law that you never wanted. Y'all laughing way too hard on that, but true story, man. It's good. It's good to be here. Again, I promise you guys, my voice isn't normally like this. I'm not going through puberty, but for some reason, some reason I come to Tampa, it's just like my voice gets a little bit extra. It's kind of what my preachers would sound like when I was growing up, and the Lord said. So anyway, so my voice is a little extra raspy this morning. But sometimes when I think about it, like one thing I've watched as the thunder were kind of going through this season and the championship, I promise this whole message is not going to be about the thunder, just another minute and 45 seconds. But as I was watching this season and just kind of how things play out, it's just a really good reminder of like, everybody has a different opinion about something. If you want to know how dysfunctional people are, just go read the comments of any social media section, right? Like people, do you ever read the comments and be like, do they really think that? Like people think some crazy stuff, so people have a wide range of thoughts, and a lot of them are negative thoughts. Like people think negative thoughts, like I remember in game seven Halliburton got hurt, like they posted something after we won, and like one of the comments was the guy was like, I wish that was SGA that got hurt instead. And so it's just like, yo, like people be tripping, and some of you guys are nodding your head because you're the ones that leave those comments, and then some of you guys like your family and friends are the ones that leave those comments. But it just let me know that everyone has an opinion, and there's a lot of dysfunction
that goes in the way that people think. And I was reading some of the comments, here's some of the things that people say about SGA, for those of you guys that don't know sports, like SGA, Shea, Gilchrist, Alexander, you know, Thunder, MVP, NBA champion, Thunder MVP, all the stuff, like he's the dude, right? But here's some of the things they call him, they call him the free throw merchant, which the free throw merchant, like at the end of the day, like his free throws, he takes a lot less than anybody else, definitely less than any other superstar that we've had. They say he's too methodical. They say he's not exciting enough. But let's just be real. Like he plays with the same game that like Jordan and Kobe played with, and I know some of you guys are like, no, no, no. But I'll just speak the facts. He's controlled. He's precise. He's clutch, and that mid-range is surgical. Like, you think about it, he plays with, let's say, his footwork, everything, his mentality, that mama mentality, I'm looking at all the things that people said, and I look at him. He's married to his high school sweetheart. He's a man of God. He prays before every game. He gives it up to God. When Halliburton got hurt, he left their celebration, goes into their locker room to pray for him. He does all these things, but yet, we find a reason to hate on him. And some of you guys don't even know why you're hating on him. You're just hating on him because that's
what SportsCenter or somebody in the social media comments told you you're supposed to do. But it reminded me of those things, like, here's the deal. You can hate on him, but the one thing you have to do is you have to respect him. Because he's him, and he's the NBA champion. And so some people think he's too quiet. He's too calm. You know why? It's because they don't understand what greatness looks like. Because greatness looks different. And we all are entitled to have an opinion. We're all entitled to have an opinion, but if you think about the opinions that people have in today's society, most of them are negative. And you feel like in society, if we just look at social media, if you look on the news, there's this negative tone, and everybody is anxious. To be honest, that's why I don't even watch the 10 o'clock news. By show of hands, how many of you guys watch the 10 o'clock news, or the nightly news? Dang, Pastor Scott done worked y'all over or something, man. Like, nah, uh-uh, uh-uh. But it's a generational thing, like, yo, my lady on the front, like, someone older, like, that's what you do, you watch 10 o'clock, I don't watch it.
I can tell you, I don't even have to be in your city, I can tell you what happened. Somebody got shot, somebody got robbed, they ain't doing this, we live from here and this just happened, they just got out of court and a hurricane is coming and your team ain't winning. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's something like that, right? Or your team is winning, whatever it is, but it's like, there's always, that's what it is, and so I don't even bother, because again, everybody, it's a lot of anxiousness going on, a lot of people are anxious. And so we think about the thoughts that you have and the fact that many of your thoughts are anxious and the world is anxious, that's contrary to what the Word of God says. Like, the Word of God tells us that we should do something different, so again, the Bible tells us what? It says that, don't be anxious about anything, right? But in prayer and supplication, you give thanks to God, like, don't be anxious about nothing, right? And then Proverbs 23, seven says, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Romans 12, two, do not be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing, in other words, we're gonna change, sir. Man, we're gonna change the way that you think, the renewing of your mind, it means it's gonna be new the way you think, it's gonna be different.
This isn't Pastor Scott speaking, it's what the Word of God is saying. Second Corinthians 10, five, we take captive every thought and then do what? We take captive of it and we make it obedient to Christ. So not obedient to social media, not obedient to being anxious and worried and complaining about everything, making it obedient to Christ. Philippians 4, six, don't be anxious about nothing. Don't be anxious about anything. And anything means what? Anything, don't be anxious about nothing, but I love when Paul writes, he doesn't just give us the problem, but he gives us what? The plan, he gives us the problem and he gives us the solution. So again, it's important, don't worry about nothing, we gotta make sure that we're looking at what we're thinking about and what does it look like? Because we worry about too many things. It reminds me of a story of this couple and one night they were in bed sleeping, middle of the night though, the wife wakes up and she hears something downstairs, a burglar had broke in and so she wakes her husband up, like, honey, someone's broken into the house. She said, what? Somebody's broken downstairs,
so the husband, he gets his shotgun, he goes down the stairs with his shotgun, cocks his shotgun, sure enough, he gets there in his living room and the burglar's right there. He's like, freeze, the burglar puts his hands up and he said, you know what? Matter of fact, I want you to come upstairs and meet my wife. She's been worried about you coming for the last 15 years. I think since you showed up, it's time that you finally meet her. And some of you guys chuckle, but what are the things that you've been worrying about for 15 years that have never come true? What are some things that you've been worrying about that's been holding you hostage? what's going to happen to you about the other shoe dropping about they're going to treat me this way they're going to do this they got to be doing that I got to think this negative thing I got to think this negative thing and you've been held hostage to worry for years just because he treated you that way doesn't mean he is but many of you're going to block your blessing because you're holding on to what they did because they hurt you when you're young doesn't mean he's going to hurt you because she did you that way doesn't mean she's going to do you that way because your mom and dad did this doesn't mean you're going to do that because your dad wasn't in the picture doesn't mean that you're going to be in the picture because you used to be addicted to drugs doesn't mean that you're going to be in the future but the thing is you got to ask yourself what am I thinking about so that's what we're going to do today we're going to look in the bible so philippians 4 we're going to read verses 6 through 9 and then it's a familiar passage but then what I'm going to do is I'm just going to preach on two verses everybody say two verses let's go ahead and read six through nine do not be anxious about anything but in everything
by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus finally brothers whatever is true whatever is honorable whatever is just whatever is pure whatever is lovely whatever is commendable check this out if there is any excellence if there is anything worthy of praise think about these things what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me practice these things and the God of peace will be with you we could close our bibles and that's really all that we need to hear that's the word that's what you need to hear so if you're asking yourself like what's the question like what do I do what do I move from here what does that look like that's the answer right there Paul is saying don't be anxious about anything because anxiousness and worry will rob you way more times than any burglar ever will because anxiousness and worry it drips like a leaky faucet drip I'm not good enough drip I'm not going to get that job drip I'm supposed to do this drip it's not an alternative lifestyle this is this is just who made me I'm different drip I'm supposed to think like they think drip I'm supposed to follow them drip I'm supposed to listen to their music just because I think they're cool and they're proper even though they they tell me that they worship the devil drip drip drip and many of you guys you might be uncomfortable because you have the ability to turn off the drip but you decide to worry and be anxious many of you guys like you were on the precipice of a breakthrough a blessing but because you choose to listen to the drip or the anxiousness or the worry you won't see it and as pastor Caleb mentioned earlier I um might have two sons my oldest son he's actually in his uh last year of dental school at OU dental school so in May of 2026 he will graduate with his dental degree my youngest son he plays college football in Missouri he's actually working on his MBA so in May of 2026 he will graduate with his MBA and so I had this wild idea a while back like you know what we could all graduate in May of 2026 and so I was like I'm gonna go back and get my doctorate I can be a doctor I gotta be a doctor before my son Wesley is a doctor right and so if I'm just being honest the only reason it was kind of cool right it'll be postable like that we all graduated in May right but the real reason because the brother's competitive you ain't gonna be no doctor before me you know I'm saying right and so but also my son's like dad what in the world are you doing going back to college like you ain't been to college since the 1900s I ain't gonna lie it's true but that show sound old just here in the 1900s you know I'm saying did they even have computers back then don't worry about it don't
worry about what they had right and so I went back to school and you know like at first like it was cool like but what I realized is like I work with lots of high-profile organizations leaders and from the governor to the attorney general to CEOs like all these different people and to them my opinion matters but what I realized when I started in the doctoral program is that these professors could care less about my opinion they could care less about my credentials and amazing bio that pastor Caleb read sir that assignment is due at 11 59 on Tuesday and so again like I don't lie like if I had to do it again brother probably wouldn't do it. But now I got 309 days until I graduate. You're going to have to call a brother Dr. Scott after that, right? I'm letting y'all know I'm not answering to nothing else but Dr. Scott. I told my kids, don't even call me dad no more. You know what I'm saying? I ain't answering to it. Scott, Dr. Scott, that's it. So, did I tell y'all 309 days until I graduate? Anyway, but because I'm a scholar now, I have some research I want to share with you about this word. Research shows you that 91% of what you worry about never happens. 80% of what does is either manageable, a great lesson, or what we call a blessing in disguise. So taking a step forward. So basically, if you look at the stats, you do those numbers together, 98% of what stresses you out is a lie. So the word of God in this reminder from this research is stop losing sleep, losing peace, and losing your mind over things that don't matter. Stop magnifying your problems and start magnifying God's promises. That's what you got to do and quit worrying about stuff. Worrying about the wrong things. So Paul, what he also again, we got the problem and then the promise, the problem and then the plan. So he says in verse eight, he says, focus on these things. And he goes through the list of those things. And so the title of today's message is, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Matter of fact, turn around to your neighbor right now and say, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Turn around to your other neighbor, the one that was your second choice, your second choice and say, are you thinking what I'm thinking? I hope your spouse wasn't your second choice. That's a whole nother story. We got counseling available for you guys at the end. That's a whole nother deal. So Paul gets the problem, but he also gets the plan. And what I want to do is give you the solutions, like the plan, and we're calling the three keys. Everybody say three keys. These are the three keys to a godly vision. And again, I encourage you to take notes. If you're not a note taker, that's fine. I'm not telling you that you're not going to get
into heaven if you don't take notes, but I am telling you there's going to be a special section right there for those who do. So again, it'll be on the screen. Some of you guys may take pictures or you just got a really good memory. So the first thing you're taking notes, you can write this down, is this. The first thing you got to do is you have to filter your focus. Everybody say filter. Verse eight. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, do what? Think about these things. So what are the things you think about? What it says in verse eight. What are the things that you are thinking about online, in your living room? What are the things you're thinking about? To my left, on the top of the balcony, what are you thinking about? I don't know what it is, but I know what the Bible tells you should think about. It says focus on these things. So what are you thinking about? So it's talking about filter. How many of you guys, like, when you ever go online shopping, you go online shopping and you push the little filter button because you want to make sure, I don't waste my time looking for stuff and I get down, I'm ready to buy, and I don't even have your size. I don't waste all my time. So you filter. Everybody, by a show of hands, how many of you guys use that filter? And so that's what we're talking about here. We're talking about filtering our focus. So again, you have a choice to filter what you want to focus on. And this is what the Word of God is reminding you. He didn't say, hey, just focus. He says focus on these things. Whatever is true, pretty easy. Whatever is honoring, whatever is right, whatever is loving, whatever is pure. Again, you're chasing what's excellent and praising what's worthy. And the thing is, like, we say focus on these things, whatever is lovely, whatever is pure. But many of you, many of us, sometimes what we do is we look in the mirror and we focus on the negative things. Like, we focus on, man, I ain't good enough. I ain't gonna never have none. You don't understand the story of my life. Like, we grew up on this side of the track. Our family's always gonna be broke. I can't go to college. My mom and them didn't go to college. How am I expected to be a good dad? I grew up in a single-parent family. I'm telling you, every time I'm in a relationship, it ends bad. How you think I'm ever gonna get a godly man or a godly woman? There's no, I'm always gonna be broke. I'm just looking in the mirror at my reflection. It's just sad. It's just the story of my life. If it's just the story of your life, it's time that you get a new author. Because the author of this word,
he tells you something different. And ladies, I'm gonna go ahead and get on you for a minute. Like, when you hear filter and focus, some of you guys thinking it's about looking in the mirror and putting that social media filter on there. Because again, you look in the mirror and you're taking that selfie and then you got to get the angles right. You got to make sure that the angles are just right and then you're going to put them filters on it. And then all the ladies that take that gym social media pic, it's that same pose. Y'all know the pose I'm talking about, right? You know what I'm saying? It's that one pose, right? Like it's that same pose, you know what I'm saying? It's just that you contorting your body or whatever just to get that pose. And again, and what you're trying to do to say that it's confidence with gains but what it really is, is insecurity because you just want to show the world your booty pic and nobody really cares, but you're so insecure and you're so focused on what people think that that's what you're doing. You're focusing on the wrong things. I'm trying to preach, you're helping me too. What are you looking in the mirror focusing on? Is it these things? Or is it what the world said? I mean, that social media pic is an easy one. I could go around and pick on all of you guys. Let me just go look at your social media or better let me look at your bank account.
Let me see what you spend your money on trying to please people who don't matter and really don't care. Focus on these things. So instead of filtering your focus and getting stuck looking in the mirror, you got to filter your focus on what these things say. Well, God, again, what you're doing is you're looking in the mirror, you're worried about anxiety and fear and depression. We're more depressed than ever before. You know why we're depressed? Because they told you you should be depressed. You know why your kids are taking psychotropic drugs? Because they told you he got to have ADHD, something, whatever, whatever. And I'm not saying some of y'all kids don't have it. Some of y'all kids just need to, you need to tell them to focus on these things because they're looking at, mom and daddy are looking at what you're focusing on and they stressed because you stressed and they tripping because you tripping. And you wonder, oh, man, y'all just worried. Because I'm not one that complains about this generation because I raised them. We got to be like, yo, we raised them. Like, if they're doing these things, like, what are we doing to make sure they focus on these things?
Because so many people, like, they're depressed and they don't even know why and they're taking psychotropic drugs and they're doing this and they're doing that and that's what it is and it's like family drama. I'm irritated about politics. I don't know anything about it, but every four years, about three years and nine months, now I'm an expert and I got an opinion. I don't like somebody that goes to my church because they want to vote a different way than me. How silly is that? But that's because you're focusing on those things. And I'm telling you, if you find yourself in that situation, it's all negative. The enemy's got you. He's pimping you. He's pimping your social media profile. He's pimping your thoughts. He's pimping all of that. And you're just following right along with it. The music you listen, I'm not saying, okay, listen to this, but I'm saying, like, some artists are telling you I worship the devil. They mock the word of God. And you spend money to go to their concerts? Because you're not focusing on these things. I'm just trying to help somebody because the decisions you make now is what's going to impact the decisions that happen down the road.
Drama. You go in the mirror and your body's shaming yourself. You look in the mirror, literally think about all of the negative things that you can focus on and those are the things that you're focusing on. Because I promise you, if you evaluate your life and the answer is, yeah, really? It's not these things, pure, lovely. It's like, it's all of this. You don't understand. Some of you guys, you cussed your kids out on the way to church. Today. Then came and praised the Lord, pastor, God is good. Because you're not focusing on these things. You're staring at the reflection. Worried about all of their rejection. And paralyzed by your little bitty imperfections. God's saying focus on these things. Because again, many of you guys, you're looking in the mirror. And the difference between the mirror is the mirror is all about the reflection of everything that you're holding on to. What the Word of God is saying is like, look, I don't want you to focus on these things. Some of you guys, you're here. And God's saying, no, what I want you to do is I want you to open the window instead of focusing on those things, everything that did happen to you.
He wants you to look out the window. You have a choice. I can look in the mirror at all the negative things and look out the window at all the potential and all the amazing things that God has for me. The choice is yours. You've got a choice in the matter. Because it reminds you, just think about it. You get in your car and you look in the rear-view mirror The rear-view mirror is really really small because when you look in the rear-view mirror, what is it showing? It's showing the things that are in the past It's showing the mile markers that are behind you and many of you guys you spend too much of life Focusing on the rear-view mirror, but God sent me here today to give you this one illustration that that windshield is a lot bigger Than that rear-view mirror and you couldn't look out the mirror and the window at the same time So you got a choice Are you going to look at the mirror at your reflection and what didn't happen and that what they did to you and how they? Left you are you gonna look out this window of everything that's there and what God has for you and the amazing Potential of what happens when you focus on these things Because you have a choice The reason why you're so sad and so anxious and so upsets because you're focusing on those things And the Lord has revealed something to me recently I don't focus on the person oftentimes. It's a spirit It's that spirit I've been carrying with them for years It's not a generational curse. It's just a spirit that you've chosen not to get off of you Because you have a choice But don't speak to this person speak to the spirit And tell it it's got to go because the choice is yours Get your eyes off. So again, the second thing You're taking notes. You just got to follow the formula Everybody say the formula Again, we taught Paul to give you the problem, but the plan
first part of verse 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me do what? Practice these things. I love it. Just like I'll tell you guys if you will just read your Bible And then do it. It ain't not just to read it. He said, oh, I know you read it We've been talking about it for 20 minutes now, but then he says Practice you got to do it. Like I know he's talking about AI. I'm talking about practice That's what we talking about is practice practice. These things are the Bible says again Practice these things so Paul doesn't say think about it Don't just filter your focus, but you got to follow the formula and the formula is simple If you don't take notes write these down Learn it Receive it Hear it See it and then practice it Learn it many of you stop there Receive it means it's going to get inside of me hear it because hearing faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God You got to hear it over and over and over and over and over again You got to hear it and then you have to see it. I can see it. I'm looking out the window now I'm not looking in the mirror and looking I can see it and then practice it and Here's why that matters is because recent research again because I'm a scholar now I I look at real research guys to hear research about how many thoughts a day we had And I would hear 70,000 thoughts a day. I just took it as like the truth But as I started to do real research That's not the real number the real number of how many thoughts a day as humans we have is we have 6,200 thoughts a day That's the real numbers. And so this is actually according to a study so the average person has about 6,200 thoughts a day and scientists discovered this using what's called a fMRI or a functional MRI and what this functional MRI does is it tracks how your brain fires and
Processes thoughts and how every thought you dwell on is literally riding a pathway to your brain And so again the things that you think again, you're focusing. It's forming your future. You're thinking about these things You're building a pathway for the direction that you're gonna walk You think you're just thinking it and we wonder why we got those people like they're just always negative How many guys know those people but don't don't point at them. Don't point at them No, yeah, he ain't preaching to the person beside. He is preaching to in general He wants y'all to hear that But it's important again. What happens is they don't even realize it They form these pathways so much that they've literally met think about like a field and you got a field you keep walking Do you know how the grass gets worn down? That's the path they built so they can't see anything else. So they're always negative They're always negative. So that's why it's important that you focus on these things because you can build new pathways You can fire new things to your brain As a matter of fact, I'm gonna show you guys this illustration everybody take your hands like this and put in a little triangle Triangle like this now push it out in front of you. Ain't no Illuminati I know he's talking about some artists a little bit ago No, no, you can put it up where you can look in front of your face on your face on your face up up Up. Okay. Now everybody keep you both of your eyes open. Now. There's gonna be a circle up there, right? Now what I want you to do is to close your right eye and then close your left eye Don't move your hands right eye left eye, whichever The one that it stays in whenever you close your eye, that's your dominant eye. Y'all looking at it. Some of y'all like, wow, my eye doctor is whack. Only thing they got me doing is a E E go by a T S J. But here's the thing. Here's why that's important. Did you have to tell your brain to go to your dominant eye? It automatically did. The same thing is true about these thoughts. You don't even have to tell your brain that you're going to have a negative thought about somebody. You see her and start out and she thinks she all that because she this and that and she, whatever girl, just look at her. She thinks, you know what? She don't think nothing. You think all that because those negative fires that you
got, she just minding her business, just walking in. But because of the negativity and how your brain is fired, that's what you think. The thunder or this, this, that, and you don't even know why you're firing all these negative fire, but you do. It's okay to say, man, they were good. It was their year. What a novel concept, man. She's pretty. He kind of cut up. He'd be in the gym. He's worked hard. He's had some success. He bought some nice stuff. Do you see, didn't that feel different? But that's not what society tells us to do and what tells us to focus on your focus. The formula is there and the dominant eye test tells you whatever dominates your mind will direct your life. That's how your thoughts work. Whatever dominates your mind will dominate your life. You move in the direction of your dominant thoughts. So if you find yourself always thinking this is because that's your dominant thought. You're always in this situation. That ain't nobody's problem, but yours. And this is the point when the band will come play behind me to make me sound more spiritual as I close in the black church I grew up in. This is when the pastor would say, as we close, which means we had two hours and 57 minutes left. The Lord is here. I'm just going to tell y'all that that's not a spiritual gift. It takes a lot more time to prepare for a message that's within a certain time that it does for one that you just up there. Just talk. I'm not saying you don't let the Holy Spirit move because he can move in a time because we focused on these things. So last thing you were taking notes is this, you have to find the favor. So Paul says, he says, don't just think about these things.
We said, practice them because fixing your focus and following the formula is how you will walk into everything that God has for you. Second part of verse nine and the what God of peace, everybody say it and who the God of peace will be with you. You see, there's a difference between having the peace of God and walking with the God of peace. You see the peace of God guards you, but the God of peace, he guides you. The peace of God settles you, but the God of peace, he sends you out into what he has for you. You see that the peace of God keeps you calm, but the God of peace keeps you moving forward and that's what you got to understand. It's difficult to have the peace of God and the God of peace is the God of peace walking with you and everybody knows somebody that they just seem to walk a little bit different. They walk with a little bit different confidence. You're like, man, how are you always so positive and how do you always think that? Because I tell people all the time, like one of the things that I pay the most for, I give the most attention is peace. Peace is, I'm telling you the God of peace and the peace of God. Like those are,
if you're looking at everything you're evaluating your life of what you're spending your money, time and energy on the court, is it giving you peace because that's still going to be the thing that's going to make sure there's not a disruption in the plan that God has for you. Many of you guys, because your piece is off, you can't get to what God has for you because your piece is off. You're using drugs because your piece is off. You got an only fans account that your parents don't even know about because your piece is off. You're trying to keep up with the Joneses are doing things, you know, that aren't honoring God. This isn't rocket science friends. I don't think I could say it any more direct than I am. Focus on the mirror. What you don't have. negativity, what I ain't gonna get, it can't be this, forget half-empty, your cup is just nothing in it, you're always looking this, you're always complaining, you're always worried, you're always like, you can focus on the mirror or you can focus on the window, the mirror or the window, the choice is yours but the beautiful thing about when you focus on the window is there's vision, you can see some stuff, you're not just seeing yourself because many of you you're caught up in the old you because you're looking in your past, this amazing window is out there, this amazing direction, these amazing mile markers, this amazing future, these amazing opportunities, these amazing new things that you can see, some amazing opportunities but you're focused on the
mirror and God sent me a lot of miles to remind you, he don't want you to focus on your past, you only look at your rearview mirrors to look at how far you've come, many of you guys, you like to take an exit and sit there and look back, when you look out the window and you walk in the room, people are like, Pastor Scott, how do you walk in these rooms with so much confidence? Because I walk in these rooms knowing that God of peace already walked ahead of me because I'm doing my best to focus on these things, I know when I focus on these things, the pathways that are being, oh you go in, how you gonna go meet with these corporate CEOs, you got locks, you got this, I don't care what your situation is, where you come from, where you're at, if you would just walk in and you will trust that the God of peace is with you and you will focus on these things, you're gonna walk in some rooms with some different confidence, the chains of addiction are gonna be broken, marriage are gonna be better restored, you're gonna have new relationships, you're gonna have new friends, things will be different but the only way, the only way they'll be different is if you focus on these things. Let's pray. Father I thank you so much for every single person that's under the sound of my voice and God I don't know all the details of what's going on with everybody in here but I know that you do God and so all across this room if you'd be honest enough to say you know what I haven't done the best job of focusing on these things that the Bible says and I want to be better I want to make a commitment I walk out this week when I leave my home those watching online that I focus on these things so here today and that's your prayer across this room just lift your hand and say I want to do a better job focusing on these things God I pray for every single hand that's being raised right now those that are making a commitment to do a better job of focusing on these things my hand is raised right there with them God as I say I'm gonna commit to focusing on things that are true that are lovely that are praiseworthy and as they do it God I pray that that you would open up the doors of bless I pray that as they no longer look in the rearview mirror they make the decision to look out that that windshield God that they can see
blessing they can see breakthrough they can see not needing to do the things in the world they no longer need to smoke weed they no longer need to use prescription drugs God you're breaking those chains of addiction you're restoring marriages you're bringing families back together fathers that were gone are stepping back in they're being different they're being light when they go to their job they got confidence a confidence that could only be found in you God give them some boldness as they focus on these things we love you and we thank you and it's in Jesus name we pray and everybody said amen come on let's give it up for Jesus come on now we hope that message encouraged you to find more encouraging messages visit our website freelifechapel.org we hope you have a great day
