In Ephesians 3:1-16, Paul writes to the church at Ephesus to stir them toward their God-given calling, naming three realities they must hold together: they have a high calling (to display the manifold wisdom of God to rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms), they live in a pivotal hour of redemptive history where God is still gathering a people for himself from every tribe and tongue, and they are profoundly weak in themselves. But weakness, Paul insists, is not the end of the story but the very place where God's power shows up. He points the church to the Holy Spirit as their only sufficient power source, reminding them that through Jesus they can come before the Father with boldness and confidence.
