A Remedy For Restlessness | Pastor Peter Reeves

I want you to feel encouraged. I want you to feel hopeful. I want you to know that God is still working in your story. Our mission here at Victory City is to help every person take a step closer to Jesus. And can I tell you, man, as you're growing in the Lord, you're taking a step. So let's lean in. Let's see what God has for us this week. And I know you'll be blessed for it. And I love you. It's good to be here with you today. What an honor it is to be with you. I don't take it lightly. This is a special place. Amen. And the presence of the Lord is here. I get so inspired every time I get to visit. And I just think you guys have honestly one of the best and most just real and anointed and full of the Holy Spirit pastors leadership and Pastor Eric Kelly. Can we clap for them right now? Just love you. I'm forcing him to be my big brother in the faith. I literally trauma dumped on him yesterday. I was like, I'm doing this wrong and this and help me. And he was like, hey, relax. You know, so no seriously, it was so awesome. Just refreshing to be with him. And he's a real man of God. And in 2026, that is rare. And so I'm really grateful and just thankful for the anointing on his life. And, man, today, I have a word for you. I really I'll be honest with you as a preacher and a guest speaker. Oftentimes I love to come into an environment like this and I want to make you shout. You know what I mean? I'm ready for people to do the Holy Ghost to step. You know what I mean? Like I want the church to be fired up. But today I felt like the Lord gave me a word that really is a soul message. And it's what I'm processing in my own spiritual life. And so I want to do my best today to preach today. And I want you to know that my family is praying for you and they're praying for this service. Put up a picture of my squad. This is my family right here. And, yeah, there we go right there. Come on. And God's doing some unique things in our life right now.

And that's my boy right there. That's Macklin, Nathaniel Reeves. The only prayer he prays every night is God make me taller than my dad, which is not going to be a hard prayer to answer. Five, seven. But I can still grow because I'm only 33 praise God. And so you got to do anything. Shut up. So anyway, that's Macklin. Love him so much. And then that's my daughter, Charlie Grace Reeves. Let me tell you something about Charlie Grace. She will make you feel insecure no matter who you are. Okay? And we're working on it. You know, as parents, we're working on it. Like Charlie, you'll come and just talk to her. And you'll be like, "Oh my gosh, Charlie." You are so cute. And you're like, "Your breath is stinks." And I'm like, "Yo, that's not how we..." Okay. So anyway, that's her. And that comes from her mom's side praise God. And so she's not here to defend herself. Okay. And then that right there is my wife, Joanna Reeves. We have been together literally since we were 15 years old. And this year we will celebrate 12 years of marriage. Come on, somebody. And yeah. Yeah, I'll just lean over the night. I'm like, "You're stuck." Anyway, so I'm just really grateful just for what God is doing in our family. And here's a new update. Right now we have two foster boys that are in our care. Not permanently, but they're in our care. And they've been with us for a few days. And we feel like God is speaking to us, strengthening us to see what's next. We don't know for sure. But there's a possibility that we could go from Reeves' party of four to Reeves' party of six. And so we're just really thankful for that. And just ready to see what God is going to do. We believe in being on the adventure of opening up our home. The Bible says it like this, "True religion is this. Take care of orphans and widows." And we really believe that the Holy Spirit is doing that. Two boys with us, they're so beautiful. It's amazing.

I'll tell you the younger boy, my foster son, his name is Kobe. But I'm a LeBron fan, so if we adopt him, I'm changing it to LeBron. Anyway, so you good? Okay, awesome. No, seriously, one last thing I want to tell you about today. Me and my wife started this foundation. It's called Reeves Initiative. I tell people all the time, I travel and speak so that I can meet foster parents across the globe. Because what our nonprofit does is we help foster families keep saying yes to the call. We just really believe that there is something special that God is wanting to do through foster care. And so we meet people's needs in a practical way. And so all the way from things they need like bedroom sets and refrigerators, all the way to adoption fees and new vehicles. And we really just want to keep traveling and inspiring foster parents to keep opening up their home because we believe that the best way to make disciples is to raise disciples. And so we're just really grateful for that. So today, if you're a foster parent in the room or you just like any more information about what we're doing or why you should open up your home and I would love to meet you in the lobby. I will be out there after service. And man, I'm so excited about what God is doing. I met some awesome foster parents today already through the first service and it was incredible. So today, okay, I have a word. I've been thinking a lot about this lady. I don't know if you've ever heard of her name before. I'll never get to meet her. Her name is Fanny Crosby. Fanny Crosby is a prolific picture of someone who walks away. And here's the thing though, is she was born blind in infancy, it's a really remarkable story. She's written some of the most powerful anthems at the church's song over generations. Songs like "Blessed Assurance" and songs like "To God Be the Glory." This lady wrote those songs and one time she was doing an interview and the interviewer said to her, "Ms. Crosby, is it a detriment to you that you cannot see? How did you overcome this barrier

with your sight?" And she said, "My blindness is not a barrier, it's a blessing. For I know that the first pair of eyes I'll ever look into are the eyes of my Savior." And so I'm listening to this lady's story and I'm going, "Wow! What a resilience! What a real revelation of someone who has crossed over from, I can't believe this is happening to me. So, man, God is doing something through my life." And I was inspired and I began to have a conversation with the Lord about, "God, give me deeper revelations, take me deeper, create a strong spirit in me. Holy Spirit, help me be more." And I felt like the Lord said, "Peter, I want to, but I have to address some things in you." Right? Now you guys, I feel like where I am as a person, the church is also at the same time, spiritually, not because we're just on the same path, but because you just came out of revival, in revival, while you were in those services, words were being delivered to you that are powerful. Come on, if you could steward your life on just one of those words, it would change everything within you. You go, "How do you know?" Because I know this. God gave Noah one word and he built on it for 120 years. Right? So, if you could just capture one thing that was spoken in that time, man, the Lord would take you to another level. But the reason we struggle to do that is because I think why we struggle is why I also struggle is because we're restless. There's a restlessness on the inside. I felt like today, God said, "Peter, don't get them to shout. Get them to see." I felt like the Lord said, "Put your hand on the shovel with me, and let's dig a deep spiritual well in the church today." So, in efforts to do that today, that's what I'm going to do. Here's what I believe. I believe that the ability to quiet your soul and to be still is directly linked to spiritual maturity. And when someone is still growing in the Lord, or they're a little bit immature, their minds and their soul are chaotic, and they don't know how to calm down, and they come on, they're on ashwagandha, and they're on, come on, I'm just joking, they're on, they're on all the things that try to get, and we do, we do all the things, and I love ashwagandha, by the way. Okay, so, like, we're trying to do everything we can to quiet our soul, and I really feel like what I'm talking about today is directly connected to spiritual maturity. Let me show you some scripture really quick. Let's go to Ecclesiastes chapter 5 today, Ecclesiastes chapter 5, and it says this, it says, "Don't shoot off your mouth or speak before you think." Come on, that would help a lot of Christians in 2026, huh? Before you post. Okay, never mind. "Don't be too quick to tell God what you think He wants to hear." Can I just say before you go to the next part, this is a lot of where our prayers get stuck, because we're not honestly telling God

what's going on in here. We're just saying what we think God wants to hear. I have this friend, and you know, I don't know how to describe me except for, he's kind of a thug, like a little bit, you know what I mean? Like, he's like, "Gang, gang." Like, he's one of those, okay? And so, he's just the thought, he's from Philly, okay? And I grew up with him, and you know, like, he'll tell me a story, and I'm just like, "Ugh," you know, so like, I just, he's a thug. But, one time we were like in a circle, and we're about to pray, and he's like, "I got it," and I was like, "Are you sure?" And he's like, "I got it." And then he's like, "This guy who's like, "Yeah, what's up, Pete?" You know what the streets say? And now he's like, "Ospicious God, we come before thee today, calling upon your name." I'm like, "King James, chill out." You know what I mean? But that's how most people, man, they're not saying what's actually going in here. They're saying, "God, I'm just saying what I think you want to hear." And that's not a prayer. Go to the next part of this verse. God's in charge, not you. God's in charge, not you. The less you speak, the better. Oh, come on, let's talk about this today. I have a solution to take your spiritual life to the next level. Be quiet before God. Silence your soul. First, I'm just telling you today, we think that the multitude of words that flow out of us like a volcano are moving the heart of God, but God knows exactly what you need. The Bible says he knows the number of hairs on your head. He knows what you need. So sometimes you get before this almighty God who is omnipotent and omniscient. He doesn't need your words. He needs your heart. Let's go to the next one. Psalm 46 verse 10, you know what? It says, "Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among all the nations, And I will. I will. I will. I love that. I said, "Mom, teach me how to pray." She's like, "Okay, pizza, I will teach you." My mom's African. "Pita, I will teach you how to pray." You know? I was like, "This is my Mufasa moment." She was like, "Pita, be still and know." And I was like, "And know?" She was like, "I said no." I was like, "Alright, be still and know."

She said, "Son, there is a powerful part of prayer when you just get before the Lord and you begin to be still." She said, "You're not bringing your agenda. You're not bringing your initiative. You're just getting still before Him." And then she said, "The other part of that that's really powerful is you have to be still and know. No, he is God. Know that you're not in charge. Know that he deserves the glory. Know that this is about him. This isn't about you being the star of the show. We already got a main character. His name is Jesus. Be still and know. Can I suggest today that your restlessness comes as a result of thinking you're someone that God never asked you to be. Is it possible today that God never gave you the dreams that you're going for, but you got those dreams from Instagram and now you feel like you're mad at God because he isn't giving you what you wanted? But any dream that is developed outside the presence of God is a nightmare. Hello, somebody. So let's talk about this today. I want to preach for just for a moment from this thought today. The remedy for restlessness. The remedy for restlessness. Friends, we are a restless people and a restless culture. We're restless at every corner and every turn.

And this is really difficult for me to even preach a message like this because I grew up in a Pentecostal church. So you're like, what does that mean? It means that we are a very expressive people. I grew up in one of those churches where the pastor is like, "Hey, the Bible says that God can't move in your life." You know, like he did that whole thing. I'm like, pastor, the game starts at 20 minutes. Wrap this up, right? And then in our church, like I'm telling you like it was just a lot. My pastor is just like this, a quiet church is a dead church. You know, like we're just, we're doing all those things. And I realized about myself that the environment that fostered my relationship with God was an environment that only rewarded those who are working hard. And so the badge of honor for Peterines became, I work hard. Come on, you know those people? How you doing? Busy. How you doing? Busy. Busy. All right? Come on, we were exhaustion as a badge of honor. Thinking that it honors the Lord. This is the culture and the environment. I was fostering it. Come on, we do everything we can to relax and to sleep. Then we're having the difficult time resting. Come on, we do all the things that I do.

I'm like melatonin. Thank you, Jesus. I'm short, I don't think, hydroxyl scene, Jesus. Thank you. We need it, right? Come on, you're like, you're like, I need white noise to fall. I said, how about black? No, I'm kidding. Okay, so, right? I'm just making sure you're with me. I'm just saying we do everything we can to try to quiet what's going on in here. Because when I look at the church at large today, there might be chaos around us. But because Jesus is the Prince of Peace, there's supposed to be a peace within us. Wherever there is peace, the Prince rules. And so, today, for just a moment, I want to introduce you to a pattern in Scripture that is alive and real for your soul. What we'll start with Moses for just a second. Moses is a prolific picture of someone who knows how to be still in the presence of God. Remember, the Lord takes him up on a mountain. And Moses is up there for 40 days and 40 nights, twice in his life. What is he doing up there? God was downloading to him the 10 commandments. If you want great revelation from God, you can't get it without stillness.

Okay, let's keep going. Jesus models after, or mimics what Moses modeled in the New Testament now. Jesus is in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights. And you know, the Bible gives us some like details that are like, duh. It's like Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. And after that, he was hungry, duh. You know what I mean? Okay, we get it. And then what happens? Jesus in stillness, then he has an encounter with the enemy and he overcomes the enemy teaching you and I that the way we overcome the devil is we get still before God and then we're able to overcome the enemy that's trying to attack us. Hello? There's something beautiful about that, but really my favorite picture of someone who is still and who knows how to remedy the restlessness of their soul is the Apostle John. Now John's my favorite for a couple reasons. Number one, the reason I like John is because John doesn't care what other people think. Like Jesus would be at a dinner leading people and John's like, Jesus, book your armor and Jesus is like, what? And John, the Bible says John would lay his head on the chest of Jesus. So Jesus is trying to lead and John's like,

it's time to cuddle God. You know, so John, John was just like, I'm cuddling you in front of people, man. I don't care. You know what? I also like John though, because John is petty. Ooh. You're like, how is John petty? I'm going to tell you exactly how John petty. John writes about the resurrection and about how the disciples were just there by themselves not knowing what to do, trying to figure out the next steps. The women who had encountered the angel at the tomb of Jesus ran to the disciples to tell them that the tomb was empty. And John writes in his gospel, he writes, the disciple whom Jesus loved, which by the way, I love that John calls himself that because you hear And John's like, no, no, I'm the disciple that Jesus loves, it's not cockiness, it's confidence, because John understood what was significant about his life, it's not how he felt about God, but how God felt about him. So John's like, I don't care what you say about me, I'm the one he loves, I don't care if you don't vote for me, I'm the one he loves, I don't care if you don't call me, text me, I'm the one he loves, I love that. But John's also petty. So John says it like this, he writes, they told us where Jesus was, and we ran to the tomb, and the disciple whom Jesus loved,

got there faster than the apostle Peter, they are grown men, raising the dead, and he's like, I'm faster than you for all of eternity, I love that, it's amazing. But John has this experience at the end of his life that is remarkable, the Lord takes him to the island of Patmos, he's on the island of Patmos, and he's there, he's in isolation, actually let me say it like this, what really happened is they were trying to kill John, and so they said to John, they're like, listen, we don't boil you in hot oil, they were trying to fry an apostle, okay, Colonel Sanders style, they were really trying to get to John, and John literally jumps in the oil as an old man, and they try to boil him alive, but you cannot boil an oil what is already anointed, someone say amen. So then they go, we're just gonna exile this guy, 'cause he's too much, they exon to the island of Patmos, and in silence, in solitude, in stillness, God gives him the most discussed book that we're still trying to unpack the book of Revelation, God can only trust revelation to those who know how to be still. There's a pattern here, so let's get into it today. Genesis, put the scripture on the screen for just a moment, Genesis chapter two, so the Lord, Lord God calls the man to fall into a deep sleep, ooh, I love that today.

Now here's what I will say, I'm not talking about sleep today, I'm really talking about rest and internal peace and stillness and solitude, but I will say this today, for some of you, this could take your spiritual life to the next level, you're like, Pastor Pete, I'm just fighting the enemy, I'm like, go to bed, you know what I mean? You're like, the enemy's attacking me, I'm like, no, you just need a nap, 'cause you ain't doing anything that's on the devil's radar, so it ain't him, hello? Ooh, I'm just kidding, we're good friends, I love you. Go to sleep, this was the Lord God put man into a deep sleep, and while the man slept, the Lord God took one of the man's ribs and closed up the opening, come on, next slide. Then the Lord God made women from the rib, and he brought her to the man. At last, the man exclaimed, this one is bone on my bone and flesh on my flesh, this is an absolute miracle in the scripture, so here is Adam, the first man on the planet, and the Bible says this, that when God creates Adam, he creates her from the dust of the earth. Men, this is why we're a little dirtier than women, hello, somebody, cake made him from the dirt of the earth, and then it says that God took what man didn't even know was in him out of him and made woman, and so I'm reading this scripture and I'm like, God, why do you want me to be still?

And the Lord begins to whisper to my soul, Peter, I need you to be still because if you will be still, I would pull things out of you that you didn't know were there. Like, like so many of us are trying to figure out, how do I get the God thing out of my life that I know? You know God has put something great on the inside of you, and you're doing everything you possibly can to try to get it out of you. Frank, can I encourage you today? The way you pull out what God has put in you is not just by doing stuff, it's by being still. Adam didn't know that Eve existed within him, yet God says no, no, what is in you needs to come out of you, that can only happen if you're still, if you're still, there's a pattern here, let's keep going. The book of Exodus, the book of Exodus is really inviting, it says this, then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind, the wind blew all night long, turning the sea bed into dry land, keep going. So the people of Israel walk through the middle of the sea on a dry ground with the walls of water on each side, come on, keep going. No, okay, fine. Okay, number one, here is Moses. And I learned this in Sunday school, come on, I learned this in Sunday school on a flannel graph, come on, somebody, right?

With an old lady with a shaky hand, she was like, watch this miracle, baby. Okay, so I'm in Sunday school, and I thought that this miracle happened overnight. Like, I thought Moses put his staff in the water, bang, opened up first aquarium in the Bible, that's what I thought, okay? But that's not what happens. The Bible says that Moses, he gets there, and he has to get still, because the Lord is rolling back the waters all night long. There's a strong east wind. What did God do? These people were between an ocean and an army, and God created a path away where there seemed to be no way. When they thought it was impossible, when they thought, how are we gonna get out of this situation? It was the stillness of Moses that created the opening, and I'm reading this going, God, what are you trying to do? And the Lord said, here's a remedy, if you would get still, I would make an opening where there was no opening. I would make a way where there seems to be no way. I would give you an out when there was no out. I would fix this for you when you feel it. See many of us feel trapped today. And we're turning, we're looking left and right for anything that would give us some kind of relief because in here it's going crazy, anxiety is rushing,

I'm worrying and I can't figure it out, I'm trying to control outcomes and I can't close my eyes, I can't shut it down, I'm struggling, and we have to vacation, and then we need a vacation from our vacation. Talk to me. And God's gonna wiggle, if you would get still, I would show you a miracle that would transform everything in you. It would create a way where there seems to be no way. But go to Luke, there's a pattern here, there's a pattern here, go to Luke, Luke. Luke, it says one day, Jesus said to us disciples, "Let's cross to the other side of the lake," so they got into the boat and started out. As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap, but soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water and they were all in real danger. Okay, or they felt like they were in real danger. This is a story where you know what, Jesus is at the bottom of the boat and he's sleeping. My boy is, Jesus is two melatonin gummies in and a temperate pillow, he's having a good rest, okay? The disciples are on the top of the boat and they see the storm coming in the horizon. Here's what I thought. I thought that when I got Jesus in my boat, I would no longer have any storms, but that's not true. You know, that's a revelation for the church today.

'Cause a lot of people think they get Jesus in their boat and everything's gonna be amazing and everything's gonna be fine. Friends, every person that followed Jesus as far as the disciples go, were crucified or brutally harmed in some way, except for John and he was exiled. Following Jesus isn't about making our lives easier, it's about making our lives rich. (congregation applauding) Oh, so Jesus is at the bottom of the boat, the disciples start freaking out, they go, do you not care that we're about to die? Have you ever felt that before? Have you ever prayed like that before? Do you not care? Do you not care that they don't see me? Do you not care? And Jesus gets up and the Bible says this, that he rebukes the wind and the waves. Friends, a more holistic approach to this moment would have been for the disciples to understand that this boat was not gonna go down no matter how big the storm got, 'cause it was carrying the most precious cargo in all of humanity. So there was no way it was gonna go down and instead of freaking out and shouting, do you not care about us? A more realistic and mature response would have been

to go lay right next to him. So here we are. Pass through the storm, it's going crazy in my life. Peter, the storms are waving, I got financial storms and I got marriage storms and relationship storms and family storms and I got work storms. I got all these storms. God, why are you not responding? How about you go lay right next to him? Peter, I would call every storm in your life if you could just rest. You want Jesus to speak to the storm, let him speak to the storm, 'cause you screaming at the storm is not gonna change it. But allowing the one who created you to speak is gonna change everything. Okay, let's keep going, there's a pattern. Last one, last one, last one. There's a pattern. The night before Peter was about to be placed on trial, he was asleep. What? What are you doing? Yeah, tomorrow you could lose your life. All right, let me take a nap, that doesn't make any sense. Fasten with two chains between two soldiers, other stood guard at the prison gate. Suddenly there was a bright light in the cell and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter, the angel struck up, struck him on the side

to awaken him and said, quick, get up. Ooh, I love to say. 'Cause the angel didn't go, hey, Pete. Petey, get up. The angel was like, you in a puzzle, get up, Pete. I like that. I need a God that can smack me around some of the time and angel like, hey, you know what I mean? Sometimes, okay, never mind. Let me let that go today. But I love this story today because here's what's happening. The Apostle Peter is about to be on trial for his life and he understand what it means to be on trial, meaning that tomorrow he could potentially lose his life. But the Bible says that he's asleep and that's remarkable to be. Because who sleeps when they think tomorrow they could die? You know what I mean? If I knew I was gonna die tomorrow, I'm like, let's run it up. Let's get Coke, ICs, Hershey, pies. Let's have a time. But here's Peter and he's sleeping. Now, what's interesting to me is Peter would have known what happened to his friend John when John was in a similar situation. Do you remember this? John was on trial and he was about to be tried the next day and the Bible says that King Herod, he throws himself a birthday party,

which by the way, if you have to throw yourself a party, you ain't got friends, okay? So he throws himself a birthday party and the Bible says at the party, he has a young lady that doesn't dance for him and he says to her, I will give you anything up to half my kingdom. I'm like, half the kingdom just to do the doggy, I'm in. You know, like what? Okay, and so this girl does a dance for him and he offers her half to the kingdom and this girl goes, I want the head of John the Baptist. That's what happened to which I would say this is an important message for the church because here's what happened. What killed the prophetic voice in the culture? Entertainment. (audience groans) You wanna silence the voice of God in your life? You wanna miss out on the revelations of scripture? You wanna miss what God's whispering into your ear? Entertain yourself to death and you will miss the prophetic anointing on your life. [BLANK_AUDIO] And Peter is in the prison and he's sleeping. And we know this is a deep sleep because Peter thinks that what is happening to him, what we just read about, that bright light coming in, he thinks this is a dream, which teaches me something about our dreams. If you and I could be still before God,

the reality God invites us to and our dream will align. See, I'm talking to some people, you don't got no dream. So you're like, "No, that's pretty good." No! That's incredible. I want my dreams and God's reality to align. How do I get there? I got to be still. There's more for your family and more for your bloodline and more for your today and more for your tomorrow. I want God's dream for my life, so I got to be still. Peter's so still that the Bible says he's chained in the inner part of the prison and the chains begin to fall off. And here's what the Lord began to speak to me, Peter. I would allow every chain to fall off of your life if you would just get still. See, some of us are struggling with things that we can't get it free from. You're like, "I got a 12-step program, still didn't work. I got accountability, still didn't work. I tried this over here. I tried that over there. It still didn't work because the thing to get you free is not, I think it's being still before God. Still. Go to that Genesis where I want you to see something. I'm not making this up. There's a real pattern here. Then God said, "Let there be light." And there was light. Awesome. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day and the darkness night.

An evening past and morning came marking the first day. Hold on a second. What? Then evening past, then morning came, first day. Evening, morning, second day. Evening, morning, third day. Evening, morning, fourth day. Wait a minute. God, I know you know everything. But maybe you don't know this one thing. It's morning, then evening. It's morning, then evening. God, then the day. And the Lord began to speak to me, Pete. No? I don't create you to need to rest. I created you to be who you are from rest. So it's evening, then morning. First you rest and then you do what I created you to do. I'm like, "Lord, it doesn't make sense to me." The Lord's like, when you go to sleep, that's when I clock in. When you stop trying to control outcomes and stop trying to figure things out and stop trying to make it all about you, when you don't need to be the one that's in charge of how this things go, I can get my hands on it. And when my hands are on it, then I can begin to take you where you need to go. For so many of us have it backwards and our souls are tired and exhausted and weary. Come on, we're Christians. We're singing the joy of the Lord is our strength, except that's only on our t-shirt. It's not tattooed on our heart because we're exhausted. We're so tired, keeping up with the Joneses, trying to have appearances.

We're everybody. Come on. Internally, we're shouting, do you see me? Do you see me? Why? Because our souls restless, souls restless. I actually hate this show, but my wife loves it, grays it out of me. Yeah, I really connect with the characters. They're not your friends. Those are fake characters. And I don't like the show, but there's this moment in the show. It's how I feel about the whole church. Remember that? See where it's like, pick me, choose me, love me, Derek. That's how I feel about the church at large. Pick me, choose me, love me. And we can't hear it because there's so much chaos going on. The Bible says this about the Holy Spirit, that the Holy Spirit works within us gently and deeply. If something is gentle and it's deep, if you don't stay still, you won't feel it. And so here we are going, it's not doing anything and he is. It's just deep and it's gentle. Remember? Maybe you should go read it. The Bible says that the Lord went to meet with Elijah and he wasn't in the thunder. He wasn't in the storm. What was it? A small gentle whisper to hear it. You've got to be still. Still.

There is a remedy for your restlessness today. It's called being still before Almighty God. I'll end like this today. My daughter do this thing. It's just like a weird game we play at night where she pretends to fall asleep and then I have to fake carry her to bed. We'll be watching TV and she'll just go. And then I'll have to go, I think Charlie's sleeping. And then I pick her up, and I take her to her bed, put her on her bed, and then she wakes up, or she like, shows me she's awake. She's like, "Dad, I was tricking you! "I'm awake! "I was being silly, Dad." And I'm laughing, and we're having a good time, and the Lord just whispered to my soul, "Peter, do you realize that when your daughter "wanted you to carry her, she got still?" How is God gonna carry you to the destinations you're thinking about? To the dreams you're thinking about? To the things he's put in your heart. He's gonna carry you there, but first you have to get still. Oh, it's so hard. So hard. Somebody challenged me one time, they said, "Peter, "I want you, this guy who is trying to be my mentor, "but I didn't want him to be." And he's like, "I got a challenge for you." I was like, all right, he's like,

"Sit before God, 20 minutes every day, "don't say anything." I was like, "You? "I'm a pastor." Of course I can do that. I go to try it one time. I'm in that presence, I'm crying and praying, and then I say, "Oh, I gotta be still." Let's start thinking about something else. "Oh, I gotta be still." I gotta, I gotta, wait, what did you wait and say? Clean what? Unload the dishwasher, absolutely not, right? Like I'm, I look at the clock and say it's six minutes. (audience laughing) Talk to me, church. There's a, there's something going on in here, in here. 'Cause we think the answer is peace around us. God, give us peace. But no, the peace God wants to give you is not a peace around you, it's within you. There's a remedy for your restlessness, it's called being still before God. And people don't only leave a message like this and go, "Oh, amen." Because it's, it seems so simple, but it's so hard. You want God to pull things out of you, didn't over there, get still. You want him to make a way, get still. You want him to call in the storm, get still.

You want him to free you from bondage, get still today. Stay with me today, stay with me. With every eye closing this place today, far be it for me to think I'm the only one that has a restless soul. I speak today over you, church, peace. The Bible says this, that the kingdom of God can be described like this, righteousness, peace, joy. So one third of the kingdom of God is peace. Talk to me about your peace. God wants to give you peace. You think you need more money, God wants to give you peace. You think you need a new opportunity, God wants to give you peace. How do I process everything God did in revival? I don't just want that to be more services. I want God to, he's touched me and he spoke to me and he moved in my life. Now what's next? Be still. And let the words of the Lord that were spoken echo through your soul as God intended. Peace. Maybe you're in here today and you go Peter, I want peace. But I just feel so far from God. Fred, I want you to know you're not the first person to feel this way. All of us at one point have felt this way. You're going, what am I supposed to do? You're supposed to invite the Prince of peace, Jesus,

into your life and into your story. You're supposed to take your eyes off of yourself and put them on him and watch how he will frame your life in a way that is significantly better than the way you're living right now. You want peace? What you're really saying is I need Jesus. So with every I close in this place today, if you feel far from God, but you don't want to be, if you want peace because your anxiety, your depression, your fears, ruling your life, and you go, I want peace, you're really saying I want Jesus. So I want to give you the opportunity to receive him today as a Lord and Savior. So with every I close, I'm going to count to three and if you go, man, I need peace, I need Jesus. I want you to lift your hand in this place so I can know who I'm praying with. One, two, three, yeah, yeah. Come on, don't be afraid today. Come on, there's more of you. Come on, one, two, three, yeah. Hallelujah. Church, let's pray this prayer of faith together today. Say Jesus. Come on, everyone in the church, say Jesus. I believe that you are good and I believe that you are God. I believe you have the power to save me. You died on the cross for my sins. Jesus, you gave your life for me.

I declare prophetically over your life peace concerning your finances. Peace concerning your future. Peace concerning your family. Peace concerning your work. Peace in the name of Jesus. More than goosebumps is what God has called us to. A real deep interior peace. God, thank you for your people today. Fill them with supernatural peace that only comes as a result of the Holy Spirit. Let them not be restless. Let them not be easily discouraged, but full of faith. Because we know we're serving the risen King. Because your plans for us are good. Because you love us dearly. Give them peace today in Jesus' name.
