A Pastor's Take on Politics & Mental Health
In this Q&A episode, I respond to thoughtful questions submitted on Instagram and Facebook, covering everything from parenting and politics to marriage, therapy, and spiritual growth.
I share how to navigate difficult conversations about faith and politics with your teenagers to how to love your spouse well during conflict by being quick to apologize.
Following Jesus isn’t just about what happens on Sunday morning. It’s about the conversations at the dinner table, the arguments we work through, the doubts we wrestle with, and the small, faithful choices we make every day.
That’s what Life Between Sundays is all about. Real faith for real life, in all the ordinary, messy moments.

Hey, crew, it's Adam. I'm a husband, a father, a pastor, a follower of Jesus who, just like you, is trying to learn what it looks like to fully live and follow Jesus in the middle of real life. It is one thing to be someone on Sundays, but what about Monday through Saturday? And so here, we're gonna talk about faith and making a difference in the messy, ordinary moments where it's often the hardest to live out. Some weeks, I'll share what God is teaching me. Other weeks, I'll sit down with leaders, pastors, athletes, friends. There's no fluff, just encouragement and truth for your life between Sundays. I'm so glad you're here. Well, hey, crew. What's up? Welcome back to Life Between Sundays. It is Adam and Emily here joining me live. Adam's kinda on one today, so we're just getting ready to rock and roll here. Lord is going for it today. Yeah, I don't think too many monsters went straight to the brain. I'm a little bit concerned. Yesterday in church, someone's like, monster, is this your first? And I'm like, this is my second. So you can pray for that area.
What time was this at? Monster is not a sponsor of this podcast, but they should be. What time was that at, that you're having the second? So I get up early. Before you put on judgey pants, I get up at 5 a.m. on Sundays. And so I had my second one. That was 9.30 a.m. Well, that's not too bad, I guess. That's four hours in and two monsters down. Yeah, Annie over here, she's judging us a little bit. I mean. Speaking of Annie, sometimes she should join us too. I know. So Annie is awesome and is. Annie would be great. She's just making it happen. Today we have a fun episode coming for you. We are doing a part two of just some questions. Yeah. Before we get there, what's going on? You got a high low, buffalo, anything that you are just itching to share? Yeah, I feel like there's a bunch of highs. There's no lows, actually. My highs this week, so we were on family vacation last week in Florida, which is fantastic. If you live in the southern part of the United States,
I am so envious of you. It was 80 degrees, sunshine, no wind. It was awesome. And now it's freezing cold here in South Dakota, but just had a great time. Probably one of the highs was getting to visit SCU University. So Southeastern University is a college in Lakeland, Florida. And if you've been, if you've maybe seen it on Instagram, there's been an outpouring. I'm gonna put that in quotes. Just kind of a unique week. They had a leadership conference and then the service went on for 10 days straight, like through the night, 10 days. What? Of singing, worshiping, all that kind of thing. They did a 10 day service? It was a 10 day service. Something similar happened at where I used to go to school at, Asbury College. I was at the seminary. That happened like five, six years ago, where it was like a 14 day. So do people just kind of like come and go? Come and go, sleep on the floor. And so it's crazy. So it's just like worship, like constantly and whatever. So we were able to go visit SCU,
which is an awesome college. I think my daughter might eventually go there in the future, which is cool. Oh, really? But it was just really, really powerful. Just to see hundreds of college students, their campus pastor, his name's Jonathan, just an amazing man. It was awesome. So that was my high, was just to see. I feel like it's so good to get, like if you're a churchy person or a Christian, it's just powerful to get around a bunch of college students that are just on fire for God. So it was awesome. It fired me up big time. And they thought you were pretty cool, I guess. Yeah, they mentioned my style. And I'm like, what do you want from me? Do you want money? What do you want? Like, okay, just whatever you want, just come. So it was really good though. That'd be my high for sure, was that. Good. Well, it sounds like you guys had a good week. So that's good. Fun time with the family. Fun time with the fam. Are you ready to dive into some questions?
I am. These questions, just for the record, I have had no prep on. I have no idea what questions are coming our way. Yeah, so it's just gonna be totally off the cuff. I love seeing the, I just love seeing the response from the Instagram. So if you don't, find me on Instagram. Adam A. Weber. We'll do this again, because this is, I've really loved this. Yeah, this is great. Okay, I'm just gonna dive right into them. Okay, your first question is, how are you, this is kind of a follow-up from part one last week. Yep. You just got like a response question. How are you handling difficult conversations of politics and faith with your teenagers? Great follow-up question. There's, okay, I got several things. How you're processing them will impact your kids. So if you want your kids to be angry, I think you need to kind of like think through. a little bit. If you want your kids to be angry and jaded at the world, make sure that you're angry and jaded at the world. Nobody wants that yet. That's often what I think we're passing on to our kids is just outrage. I can't believe this. Even more candid. These people are so stupid. Democrats are so stupid. Republicans are so stupid. If you talk like that, don't be surprised if that's what your kids, how they view things. So I think just like, how am I doing at processing now? What's, what's, what I think we should do is be honest about our feelings,
but hopefully we have taken off some of the edge off of anger and not seen helpful things. So I think just like realizing, like, how are we processing this in front of our kids? So I think that is number one thing, like not adding more fear and anxiety into them. I don't want my kids to be so anxious and they won't stop biting their fingernails or whatever. Well, mom and dad, like you're bringing it into their lives all the time. So I think that, but, but I also would say, be honest about how you're feeling. Gosh, what, what this new story, this really bothered me. This really hurts because it hurts people I care about. Like those things are helpful. Um, but I, what I would say as Jesus followers is I want my kids to not be consumed with the negative. I want them to be consumed with the positive that they can be in the world around them. And so instead of like, I'm upset and this, Oh, Hey, what an opportunity to be, to be the salt and light, um, in these settings. And Hey, instead of pointing fingers and just like they need to do something like, what is our family doing? Um, and so, uh, on different topics, Hey, here's what mom and I are doing. Uh, that these are conversations that Becky and I will often have like, Hey, on this topic, this was not okay. And here, here is what our family is doing on a regular basis. Um, cause we, we feel like this is what God has challenged us to do and live out and to be salt and light. And so here's what we're actively doing. And even saying like, just kind of what we talked about, mom and I, we don't make a lot of political posts online. Uh, there's times for that maybe. Um, but I would say, but mom and I are having conversations with people face to face all the time. Uh, because we think that that is a way to bring about change and that's a way to bring about impact. Um, and so I, I think like just kind of modeling and just, you know, mom and I, we give to these different organizations because they fight back against this. Uh, we, we support this. We're helping this person. You guys don't even know cause you're at school during the day. So you're not seeing this, but I think just modeling like what kind of impact you're making. And so I would say open dialogue. And then also like, Hey, mom and I, we, we are, we were conservative or we're whatever, we're, we're more progressive. Like, but I want you to know that, that the, the progressive's point of view is really strong on this topic. And that's actually the way of Jesus or the conservatives. And so not just giving them one news source through this really narrow focused lens, but being able to process like, Hey, these are some things that the other political parties doing really, really well. That is the way of Jesus. And, uh, so I think like, I think just having those rich conversations
that are messy, you know, and being able to say like, Hey, these are things that we do feel like are scripture based and matter. And I think just openly processing, but I think long story short, I want my kids not to be jaded and I want them to realize like, Jesus calls us. He doesn't, Jesus isn't like on Facebook. All of you need to do this. No, he's like, no, you, Adam Weber need to do this and live this out. Like, I want them to see that like, Whoa, I can, I could change the world. And I'm going to start with the world right around me to do that. So long answer long. Love it. That was great. Great answer. Okay. Number two, let's hear it. How do I love my spouse better when we are arguing? I feel like Becky Weber should be right here. She'd be like, well, let me, let me, let me share. Um, how can I love my spouse better when we're arguing? Uh, well, right. So I'm preaching on James three here coming up and it's all about taming the tongue. And, uh, that's probably a starting point. Like I think realizing, am I about to say things that are life-giving or I'm about to say things that are gonna, uh, hurt. Uh, and that's called being a mature follower of Jesus is just being able to like, okay. Uh, I don't want to say these things because they're unhelpful. A Becky and I have never called each other names ever. Like, I think it would be, I think just as like in your marriage, you outlaw the. ability to say like horrible things, even if they're not big words or swear words or whatever, like at each other, like you're each other's best friend and teammate. You're not each other's worst enemy. So I think, um, doing that also like beginning to understand how your spouse processes things. Uh, I'm a person who wants to talk through it right now, like right now, like we need to figure this out because I'll just be really candid because I need to be okay. And for me to be okay, we need to be okay. Well, that's not how she processes. She needs to think things through, which I can't even fathom. I'm like, you need to think, why do we need to think? And so I think just like giving grace for like, Hey, she just needs a few minutes to gather. And, um, so I think really realizing who they are and then like, I think praying together or praying for each other. Like if you're in an argument, it's maybe not like, Hey, let's pray right now. Nobody, I'm going to pray for them and I'm going to pray for what they're going through. And then I think, look, this is not what you want to hear. Look for a way to serve them. Uh, like if they've, if there's something that you know, they value and that you're just like,
I look for ways to serve them and then work at being the quickest to make things right. Instead of being a stubborn punk, like, no, I'm not. She needs to say, she's sorry. First, he needs to say, I'm sorry. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. No, you go first. Hey, I'm sorry. Like, I don't like this. And I think this even highlight, if you're stuck in a trap where you're like, we keep arguing about the same thing over weeks, that sounds like a great opportunity to go see a marriage counselor. Yeah. Not because you're on the verge of divorce. No, no, no. Because just like if you had a cold or the flu for three weeks, you'd be like, we're going to a doctor. You go, you go to see somebody who can give you a different perspective of like, Hey, you're arguing about the same thing, but I feel like you're saying the same thing or it's a give and take. So that'd be my, what would you say to the person who's like, okay, I feel like I'm doing all of these things like for my spouse, but like, I don't feel like they do a backer. Like when we argued there, they're mean and they don't forgive me or a couple of quick things. Uh, uh, are you going to church on a regular basis? Uh, I would say get to church every single week. Why do you say that? Cause you can't say things cause they'll be ticked off, but the Holy spirit can punch you in the face. And so literally like you're in a church every single week, best marriage advice possible. If you can get around other Christian couples, uh, so they're like a girl, like, you know, if I'm thinking about Becky, I want her to be around, there's a group of women. I want her to be around them as much as possible because there are godly women who love her and will say hard things to her. Just like my friends will say hard things to me. So I think that I think praying for them, I think going to a marriage counselor, um, gosh, it's, it can be so hard. I, this is not what we're going to want to hear. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith saying, God, will you help me to love this person? Uh, it doesn't seem like there's been much change. It doesn't. And this is really, really hard, but I am called to love them. I'm called to serve them. Now, if there's abuse, all that kind of thing, totally different. That's like, Nope, not okay right now. But, but these other things, this was really powerful. I said to Becky a few weeks back, we were, we were talking about a couple that we just really care for. And I said, I think they'd be really hard to be married to without skipping a beat. Becky said, I think all people would be hard to be married to. And I was like, I mean, that was just like a truth bomb. Like
every person is so hard to be married to. I'm around the same person for a day and I'm like, oh my gosh, I can't imagine being married to you. And then I sit and look at myself in the mirror for like three minutes and I'm like, you would be so hard to be married to. I think it's that, but really getting them in an atmosphere where people will speak into them. Yeah. You know? Yeah. That's good. Cause God can just say things that we can't. I like that. It's great advice. Great, great, great. Before we go any further today, we just have some awesome partners that help make Life Between Sundays possible. Adam, who are our partners today? Yeah. I love our partners. I love bragging on our partners. My favorite thing though, is when people tell me, hey, I started banking with your partner. I started buying a vehicle with your partner. One of the coolest things. My neighbor just bought another vehicle from Bernardi. I'm like, let's go. So I texted him. I'm like, dude, I love seeing this. And he's like, well, it's because of you. So our first partner is First Interstate Bank. I've been doing my banking with First Interstate since 2007, which makes me feel really old. Their mission is to help people and their money work better together. They have over 300 locations throughout 14 different States, Arizona to Colorado, Washington. to the great state of South Dakota. For more information and to find a location near you, visit FirstInterstateBank.com. Our second partner is none other than Vern Eide Mitsubishi. Vern Eide is a growing, faith-based, employee-owned company that strives to deliver dreams and transform lives in all that they do. If you are looking for a vehicle like my drive, or like my neighbor drives. Or a boat. My parents were just there the other day looking at boats. Were they looking at boats? Yeah, they didn't get ones. They send a picture and they're like,
does anyone wanna go in on this with us? And me and Sam were like, that's just rude. That's just rude. If you want a boat, go to Vern Eide. And by the way, if you go there, tell them, hey, I listen to Adam's podcast. Hey, I know Adam. That is why I'm here, because that just makes my day. So if you're looking for an Outlander like I drive, or a Honda CRV like my wife drives, no matter where you live, they'll ship a vehicle to you. Go visit VernEide.com. VernEide.com. Seriously, I love it. Okay. How would you break down reading the Bible as a newbie if a person doesn't know where to start? Oh, this is a great question. A, translation matters. If you can, I would recommend, and people might hate me, the NLT, so the New Living Translation. If you have the Bible app on your phone, this is maybe a start. Bible app on your phone is free. Download it. Use the NLT translation or the message translation if you want it even easier to understand. Can I ask you a random question? Yeah. The different translations of the Bible,
where do all those come from? Did someone just write them? Yeah, smart, super smart people who know the original language, yeah. So then they just kind of reword it, how they? So the Book of Revelation was written by one of my Asbury Seminary professors, Bob Mulholland. He's no longer alive. He wrote the New Living Translation of Revelation. So he knows the original Greek. And so it's a combination of looking at, because we are paraphrasing another language. It's not in the original language. And so it's groups of people who come together and decide, yep, this is what this means, and this is how I'm translating it. But then how do you get, like, okay. And so then it's just different. I'm drawing a blank. The guy who wrote the Message Translation, he passed away several years ago. Eugene Peterson, oh, one of my favorite authors. So he paraphrased the entirety of scripture. And it's not word for word. It's definitely the most easy to understand translation. Some people would even use the word translation of the Bible. Yet Eugene Peterson deeply loves Jesus. More than that, he is very well studied in Hebrew and Greek. And so he wrote that translation.
Oh, wow, okay, interesting. Sorry, go back to your. No, that's really, really good. That's a great question. So Bible app on your phone, New Living Translation. If you don't read, that's totally fine. Push play. There's like eight different voices, and there's actually some really good voices. And you can speed them up a little bit. You can speed them up. You can speed them up 1.5x. So listen to it a couple of times. Before you read a book of the Bible, if you are like, I really don't understand this. So I would recommend starting in the book of John or starting in the book of Psalms, probably the book of John. So before you read, go to the Bible Project. It's free. So search Bible Project, book of John. There's gonna be a video that's probably seven or eight minutes long. Watch that. I would say this with any book of the Bible. Watch that, because in seven minutes, that's like gives you a full picture using kind of cartoons to explain it. So it's like, okay, now I got that. And then just one chapter a day.
Just read one chapter a day. And maybe before you start, just pray, God, would you help me to take away one thing today that you want me to hear? And maybe it's just a promise. Maybe it's encouragement. Maybe it's like a specific challenge of like, man, I need to forgive my enemies. Or I need to love, I need to not show favoritism. I need to seek out godly wisdom instead of wisdom of the world. And so that's what I would recommend. And the goal is not to read the entire Bible. I know that's what I was thinking. I feel like a lot of people are like, I want to do the Bible in a year. And I'm always like, I mean. But I feel like sometimes that can just kind of be overwhelming. It can be overwhelming, and I would say maybe four or five years in as a believer, unless you're a person who really loves to read and whatever, you could jump in right away. But if you're like, I think like most people, it gets overwhelmed, start with the Gospels. I would read all four Gospels, one chapter a day. Yeah. And not even one chapter a day. Like sometimes I read this one section. Like I go from one heading to the next day
and I just stop there. Because it's not about quantity, it's about quality. And it's about hearing from God what he wants us to hear. I like that. Okay, thank you. Thank you. for that. Thank you for that. Um, how do you handle being busy and still being there for your family? Busy as a, I guess it says, how do you handle being busy as a pastor and still being there for your family? It is super hard. Uh, it's nonstop. Um, I struggle daily with feeling like I'm letting everyone down. Um, from my family to staff, to the people who reach out to me on a regular basis right now, my inboxes on Facebook, Instagram are overflowing and I just frankly can't even get back to my own text messages. So I, I struggle with it. Um, thankfully it's not just me at the church. We have an amazing staff, like an amazing team. So that helps. I've really had to set up, and I did this since the beginning. I set up blocks of time. So I did this right away when I started embrace. I set up blocks of time. So my, my calendar is very blocked out where I know that I can do an appointment. So, uh, I work Thursday evenings because sometimes people can't meet with me during the day. And so if I need to meet with someone, I can meet with them on a Thursday evening. Um, so those are pre approved times that Beck knows I'm at, I'm going to be working outside of those times. I talked to her about all of it. Hey, would it be okay if I did this? Hey, would it be okay? So that helps. And then I'm trying to get better at staying off my phone when I'm home. So I try to really focus during the day. Uh, I'll say a lot of times pastors are not great at time management. And so they're like, I have no time. What, what, when did you get to the office? Well, I got there at nine o'clock. Okay. Get there at eight o'clock. Or I got there at nine 30. Well, that's an hour and a half. If you took away an hour and a half of my work week, I'd be super stressed. And then it's like, check your screen time. Well, I'm on my phone looking at apps for however long that again, time. So what I try to do is I really try to maximize my workday so that when I'm at home, I can be at home because I love my, I love my home. I love
my wife. I love my dogs, my kids, maybe in that order sometimes. Um, but, but I, no, no, I do this old Senator. I was just telling him how much I loved him this morning. I'm like, you're the most handsome guy in Sioux falls. It's true story. It's a fact. I'm like, this is an opinion. It's a fact you're that good looking, but that's all I really tried to work that. And then I just have to be okay with, um, dropping the ball. Uh, so I, you know, it's like, that would not be okay if it was embraces email address or embraces phone number and drop the ball. But it's like my, my Facebook inbox, I try to tell people, I'm like, I rarely ever check it. My Instagram, I, I'm terrible at checking it terrible at staying up to date. Um, so I just need to be okay with that. That's hard though. Yeah. Cause I feel like you just want to like people please all the time, but I feel like it's, it's impossible. And then just delegating stuff. Like, uh, I, I, I've done, uh, I think I've done one funeral since 2020. Oh, for six years. Yeah. And that's because the team won't allow me to do them, uh, because they care about me and even weddings. Uh, I have one this year and I did one two years ago and that's the only weddings I've done in five years. And so there's a whole lot of things that I just have to delegate or I can't do. And with those funerals specifically, I'm so glad for the families that I'm not doing more because I would be there for 30 minutes, do the funeral leave and that's not caring for a family. And so where our team, our pastors are incredible. Chuck Smith is unbelievable. And so he's not there for 30 minutes. He's there for hours. Yeah. Yeah. He's the guy that you would definitely want when you're going through that for sure. Okay. How do you approach and respond to non-Christians who openly criticize faith? Uh, well, I just had a, uh, this was probably a highlight for me. Uh, a boost was his name. He's just turned 80 years old. Uh, and I wanted him to come on our family trip after I met him. He was so great. Uh, so I, he apologized at first when he found out I was a pastor. He said, well, I just want to tell you, I'm an, I'm an atheist and, uh, I hope that's okay to say to you. And I was like, of course. Uh, and he's just like, I just can't fathom. Uh, you know, he's like, I was a long time professor and mathematics. I fully studied all the different religions and, um, it was really interesting. So very, very smart. Yeah.
He didn't say anything intellectual to disprove Christianity, Christianity, what he talked to me about, I almost highlighted to him, but I knew we were what, cause what I wanted to say is like, oh, you didn't like you're, you're so smart, but you didn't use any. And he probably would, he probably would have this. All he began to tell me about was Christians who didn't model the ways of Christ. I was like, so I was like, I fully understand. And I agreed with him. I'm like, so often Christians don't look much like Jesus, do they? And he's like, they don't. It was just interesting. So how do I respond? If they have intellectual reasons, I'm like, oh, I can totally understand that. Instead of like trying to answer their questions or I'll try to answer their questions if they have them. But a lot of times I'm just like, oh yeah, I can understand that. And you could tell Abuse the other night, other day was just like, what? I really am like, yeah, he waved at me twice as he needed wheelchair assistance to get on the plane. So he went ahead of us and he literally like waved twice at me. I'm like, oh, Abuse, we need to hang out. So, but as far as like, if they criticize you. Yeah, how do you handle, how do you approach and respond to non-Christians who openly criticize faith?
So I would say, you know, I don't think it's okay for them to be rude to you. Like, hey, like I wouldn't start with this, but so I would say like expect it first off because Jesus said to expect it. So don't get on your high horse of like, our world's going down the tube and this is so wrong and I'm whatever. I'm like, oh, you signed up for following Jesus and this is part of following Jesus. So don't be surprised or appalled, you signed up for it. So that's kind of A, like that kind of takes away the victim card for us as Christians. Like, I don't know, you signed up for it, hard stop. Have they hung you upside down and across yet? Be thankful. Have they burned you at the stake yet? I'll be like, praise God that you haven't. So I think that changes our mentality a little bit. And then I think just praying for them, that person, usually they're hurting. Usually they've been hurt by a Christian because it's one thing to not believe something. It's another thing to be actively like whatever. That sounds like hurt to me. And so like, if I knew the person well enough, I would even say something like, hey, I'm not sure your story, but I just want to say like if you were ever wrong by the church, like if you ever had Christians
like say or do horrible things in the name of Jesus, I just want to say, I'm sorry. And all of a sudden that can be really disarming. Yeah, my parents, my dad had an affair and they kicked us out of the church. Whoa, you know, like I'll never forget, this is years ago, a guy stole from the church when he was like a teenager. And since then, like he's never wanted anything to do with the church because they, I mean, he probably, it was a place of shame. So even though it was his actions, like, hey, I'm sorry for that. Like, were you cared for, were you loved, whatever? So I think that, and then, you know, if it's really, really persistent, just like gently say, hey, that kind of hurts my feelings. You know, I think sometimes a person's just being rude and rude and rude and you're just like, hey, that's just really kind of hurts. Like, you know, like I just really don't like this. That's how I would handle it as the last resort instead of as the very first thing, like how dare you, like our world and you people and all that kind of stuff. All of that is not the way of Jesus. So victim card, when it comes to being like whatever, I think Jesus would be like, oh, really? I'm like, oh, gosh. You're the victim?
Yeah, you know, so you're not perfect, like, and whatever. So that's a hard answer, but that's true. Yeah, I like it. How often would you recommend healthy individuals to go to therapy? Would you say everyone should go even if they think it's not the time for them? Oof, to quote Jason VanRoehler, this is kind of an indirect answer. So Jason VanRoehler, a well-known therapist, he has said, if everyone has good friends, I would be out of a job. And I just think that's so powerful. So maybe a couple of things, therapy isn't the end all solution, silver bullet to everything. So as far as like how often, if you're going through something tragic or traumatic, you've lost a loved one, you, I mean, a major wall, you've walked through breast cancer, you've divorced, that's something, like there's a clear wound. That takes like multiple times, maybe every other week or once a month for six months or longer. Like that's a huge thing to process through. So I've had two different times where I was going monthly and probably went seven or eight times because there was a huge. huge hurt. Uh, but as far as like, Hey, I'm doing well. Uh, I don't feel like I need counseling. I'd still say twice
a year. Um, I'd say twice a year, just like the times that I go to, when I went to counseling and I haven't had anything that I thought I needed to address, that's actually the times I've gotten the most benefit from it. Cause you know, they'll just, I guess a good therapist. So what's why, what brings you here today? It's like, well, I had actually almost canceled this cause I really don't have much to share, but gosh, there's just been this one thing. And when parenting that I've been trying to figure out, well, tell me about that. And all of a sudden it's like, blah, you know? So I would say that, um, I would say the same thing with marriage. I'd say go if you, if, if life is pretty fantastic, go twice a year for you and twice a year for your marriage. That's what I'd say. That's good. So maybe once a quarter, once a quarter. And then, but then back to old Jason van ruler, do you have good friends? Uh, cause that, that keeps you healthy on the regular. And that doesn't need to be once a month. That could be once a week where it's, um, at your, you know, I know you're in a, a gal's group, so you go through a book of the Bible or through a book, but then you also have that time where you're just honest and I don't know what you, but you share, but yeah, like, Hey guys, this is kind of been hard. We're walking through this with my family or walking through this with whatever. And you just are able to share a little bit. And, um, at all, that's, that's a form of therapy, right? You know, you're just being heard. And then you were like, Oh yeah, I walked through that same thing you did. I didn't know that. Yeah. And it was really hard. What was helpful for you? And all of a sudden you're getting these, like this help and you're getting these promises of God. And now when your girlfriend sends you a Bible verse to like
carry with you. And, and so I think great friendships are something that we're missing. So you can go on and kind of go all therapy, which is interesting. Like a Jason Van Ruler is like, I'm not Jesus. Um, but I think that that combination of great friends, friends who love Jesus and love me and are able to hear me and talk to me and whatever, and then combine it with therapy kind of dropped in as well. Love it. That's what I'd say. It's a secret sauce, huh? Secret sauce. That's a sauce. That's a good stuff right there. Okay. What are your hobbies in your free time? Hobbies in my free time? Oh boy. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Where do I start? Old cars. Let's go. Typewriters and antique fountain pens. Cincinnati Bengals. What are all these? Reading books. Walking with my English setter, the most handsome dog in Sioux Falls. Uh, no, I, I have a ton of hobbies, but I'm trying to get, uh, I have a ton of random hobbies. So those would be my hobbies, like collecting stuff. Although I've been like in this simplifying mode lately, selling stuff on Facebook marketplace, trying to clear crap out. But I think, uh, reading, going on walks with my dog. Uh, I'm going to go Turkey hunting this spring. Let's go. So trying to, trying to find a few healthy hobbies. Cause I, I work really easily. My work is not a good hop. Yes. That's probably my favorite hobby, which is not always the best thing. And so I think just reading, uh, it sounds weird looking at the stars. I'm going to buy a telescope this summer. Hopefully. Is your fireplace a hobby? My fireplace is definitely a hobby. Oh man. I got back from Florida and I could not start that fireplace fast enough. So I'd say, I'd say all those, those things are my hobbies. And then like just being with my wife and kids, um, and hanging out with my dad. So
my, my parents have been in Arizona this winter. They come back in March and I'm really excited about it. Cause I've been missing them big time. So yeah, I'm really excited to see my folks. Those are great. Any final thoughts? That's all I got for you. Final thoughts this week. Uh, I don't really have any final thoughts this week. I think if you haven't just off the questions, book us a session with a Christian counselor, find a couple of people that have had great experiences. And if you find a counselor, that's weird. A lot of them are weird. And so try a different Christian counselor, just like pastors. Most of them are weird. So find someone that you can connect with. If I don't respect someone, there's no way I'm sharing with them for sure. You know, I'm like, I don't respect you and I don't want a life that looks like yours. Don't go to a marriage therapist who doesn't have a great marriage. They will have an imperfect marriage, but they should have a healthy marriage. I think, I just think that's, that's really helpful. So do that. Uh, start reading scripture. One of the other questions, like God's word just blows me away every time I'm in it. I'm like, man, I needed to hear that. I needed to hear that. So I would encourage you to do that as well. Perfect. Well, thanks for all of that today. it's helpful. Again, we'll do another question and answer time. So go find me on Instagram, Adam A. Weber, and we will be dropping that an instance story sometime soon. That sounds awesome. Thanks, guys.
